Nefarian clip was from the guild Eternal Legacy that I was in. Burtofski and Hess were the guys who planned the whole thing, with Hess playing Burts account. It was a planned ninja because we sat the two of them repeatedly as they were basically... terrible. They got in when we had the boss on farm, and we were only there for a few specific items throughout BWL. For those wondering, the fact that wrath chest dropped was only our 3rd or 4th chest, so it was a big deal to our group then that it was taken. We stopped using free for all loot after that and went to Master Loot. Good times. I like seeing this clip make a reappearance after so many years.
Our guild was clearing this stuff pretty easily back then even most of naxx before TBC. After TBC dropped though and we saw the first pieces in hellfire pretty much equal our raid gear we took a much more laid back approach to the gear. Found it is cool to get better stats but know it will all be outmatched later on so didn't care as much to who got the stuff.
Hours of long dungeon, complex instant death mechanic, and single pool of loot is a recipe for disaster. I know slow progression is a favourite strategy for every mmo devs, but giving each players, their own reward pool is the best thing for this kind of content.
there is no real punishment for players for ninjaing, too many ppl on server for the reputation to be worth anything and basically everyone clears everything nowdays too (speaking about classic)

Something like this happened in Sunken Temple, some time between BC and WotLK. My party wasn't optimal at all. There were 3 Priests, a Pally, and a Rogue(me) and the lack of real DPS made it a slog. The final boss dropped Dragon's Call, a one-handed sword that has a chance to spawn a dragon minion on hit(not optimal at all but cool enough to use for a while), and then there was the awkward moment when all 3 Priests rolled for it. It's BoP, so unsellable, and the Pally and I were understandably upset. I ended up winning it and got cursed out for "jacking" loot by the Priests. After I reminded them that they can't even use a sword they blocked me and ported out. I still have it in my storage to remind me not to be a dick when it comes to loot.
hah i was pretty naive, I played on official server for the first time and some party of dicks wanted me to trade staff to their friend's priest. They threatened me with calling GM for ninja looting :D I was resto shammy and i enjoyed lvling through dungeons. I traded it, and was pretty disgusted by what i actually did, how dumb am I :D. I met that guy one month later on a Blackhand pug group, it was set on personal loot for some fucking reason and I have looted godforged healspec trinket. Funny thing was I had one with the same godforged itemelevel equipped myself. So I let guys roll for it. Actually did something similar to someone in Zul'Drak in WoTLK Classic on accident, dude did the whole boss fight on top of the teleport base the ghouls work out of. I TP'd up saw the quest item pop up as I loaded in up there(Apparently he killed it literally as I popped up). I was still in my ghoul outfit so my boss spawned and started to kill him but the boss was green to me because I still had the choker disguise on and because he couldn't tame another ghoul and me being confused I grabbed my quest item and started to leave and apparently it was a single loot and then it disappears....... Turns out he'd die up top, be unable to reach his corpse and have to take res sickness and wait it out to then do the boss fight over again and it was a lengthy boss fight. 💀dude lost his shit on me and before I could apologize had me ignored but was still flaming me. 💀

I got to enjoy this mount not too far off TBC, was amazing before everyone got it.
I started raise in BC and the only time I've ever actually got semi upset was when a rogue stun locked me when I had time-lost proto drake at 2%. To this day I've still not gotten that mount and regularly farm for it. Was never this crazy level of upset though

Actually did something similar to someone in Zul'Drak in WoTLK Classic on accident, dude did the whole boss fight on top of the teleport base the ghouls work out of. I TP'd up saw the quest item pop up as I loaded in up there(Apparently he killed it literally as I popped up). I was still in my ghoul outfit so my boss spawned and started to kill him but the boss was green to me because I still had the choker disguise on and because he couldn't tame another ghoul and me being confused I grabbed my quest item and started to leave and apparently it was a single loot and then it disappears....... Turns out he'd die up top, be unable to reach his corpse and have to take res sickness and wait it out to then do the boss fight over again and it was a lengthy boss fight. 💀dude lost his shit on me and before I could apologize had me ignored but was still flaming me. 💀

Same reason why the bow/gun is for the hunter and the warriors don't roll on that.
I main a warrior and my guild will let me roll for bows/guns for my stat stick AFTER our hunters get it first.
