Such a legend mate... this helped me fix my phantom 3. I didn’t have the correct tool to tighten that screw so I just used a blunt knife and that worked. Very happy cheers
Thanks for the help. Have tried similar before without success. I took your second section of the video but also added super glue to the spindle as the camera would slip and get out of alignment and then shake. Your method and the glue have worked a treat. Thanks.
After replacing the flat lead on the gimble of my P3 Standard after a big smash, I had this problem, thanks to this video I am now up and running again. Thank You
Thank you so much for this. Mine crashed and didn't realize the orientation of the potentiometer was the wrong way when I put it back together. Already ordered a new potentiometer and a yaw motor based on solutions I saw on other videos but so glad I'm seeing this still. Worked like a charm.
You do not need to separate the motor from the casing in order to re-align the spindle. You do what he says you shouldn't do. Lift the circuit board, turn the spindle by hand or with long nosed pliers. The fitting on the board can be realigned, it turns easily with a screw driver or tweezers, to allow the spindle through. The motors are pressed into the housing, if you pop it out, it becomes a weak point and can separate when the drone is in flight or knock/bumped (heavy landing?). Unless you drive the spindle fully back into the housing, there will always be this risk. A slight knock and the motor can just fall apart. The motor windings are magnetised and will hold the motor in the housing because of the steel lining. If you look at the back of the housing where the spindle appears, a non-separated one will show the spindle flush with the outside surface of the housing. One that has been separated will be slightly recessed. I thought the prizing down of the gimbal mount to rotate the Yaw motor was a bit iffy as well, all you have to do is release the rubber dampers and drop the gimbal down. That's how I would do it anyway.
Thank you for your reply. Although this would have probably been fine in hindsight, this video was made 3 years ago when there weren't many videos around. So a lot of what you see is just people trying out different things based on what they read. I definitely don't have that drone anymore. But what I found worked for myself and others. If anyone reads your comment, then they should try yours first in order to not play with the circuit board. Especially if you aren't grounded. I always am grounded, and so doing what I did would have no consequences. I appreciate the feedback though and everyone should try that first if they still have this drone. Just FYI, I wasn't able to turn it without removing the circuit board because that part is meant to be tight by default so that it doesn't spin on its own. But again, people can try what you said first if they want
I did this and am having the problem that you are describing. the motor is barely held on. and falls off at the smallest bump. how do i make sure that does not happen?
@@alexcroteau9799 You can try pressing the parts together and relying on the magnetised windings to keep things together. I wasn't happy with this, so I bought a new motor that was tightly "sealed". You need to buy the right arm and motor. The Yaw is inside the gimbal, the middle one is the Roll and the one linked to the camera is the Tilt.
thanks mate worked like a charm...I did what you said and it didnt work so looked at your video again and realized It was rotated the wrong way... Fixed it and its all good
I'm in Brazil talking to a professional with the same problem, thank you for sharing, can I tell you the name and model of the potentiometer? or a link I can find? and the name of the solder paste we use? thank you very grateful.
@Heart line education do you know the size of that “hex set screw” that sets the yaw , i have 2 cameras and some how have lost bot of these set screws and I can’t find one to match , without buying another replacement ribbon kit
For the second part, my thing is facing sideways and is being blocked from facing downwards, it’s like the camera was installed wrong or something I have no clue, I got this from my uncle across the country said he used it a few times then put it away, anything is help bro let me know what I can do
Hi. My phantom 3 standard's camera keeps spinning nonstop. the light shows green then turn orange and starts spinning over and over. Do I apply your solution above? Please help
I am sorry I just saw this. I am not sure if you solved your problem yet, but I would do all three of what I tried in this video. It starts with the simplest one, and progresses. I hope it helps!
Yo I dig your video but how the hell did you take out the y'all mortar you said simply push it out with your fingers but its so freaking hard to take off
Sometimes the potentiometer (the black stuff) itself cracks and not just orientation issue. U may have to replace it. There are videos here on UA-cam on how.
So I did mine earlier before I watched this and took the screw out of the casing and turned both the screw and the casing ring . Any repercussions? Or were you saying that because you need them aligned? Just wanna make sure all is good with mine
I have a chance to buy a phantom 3 standard that as the same swinging gimbal issue but he says he happened after a failed firmware update. Is it bricked or could it be fixed?
I'm not sure but in my experience, the standard does not have the same GPS capabilities as the pro. I bought one and used it twice before selling it and going to the pro. It doesnt hook up to an many satellites so it's not as stable.
Need help on the same issue as have done the things as you showed in video but still problem continued and i found that the PCB getting hot...please help to resolve
I am sorry I just saw this... were you able to fix it? I do not know why yours is getting hot, but it could be because a component or coil came off or was damaged after a crash. Take a close look at a board and see if you can find anything that is "off"
Thanks. This might actually help. Im wannign to buy a P3 standart that has the same issue. So thanks for the help now i can atleast have somethign more professional then my vloggin P2
Hey another thing that's crazy, so my phantom 3 standard hit a street branch, and then smacked my driveway, and it cracked the gimbal bracket that mounts to the bottom of the drone, so I glued n fixed that, drone was fine, but then when I started it up, I realized that it said couldn't start and couldn't calibrate the compass, so I realized that when I tryed popping the top Plastic cover back in from when it cracked. I accidentally broke the compass plug that plus into the circuit board, so I went n bought me a Phantom 4. But anyways, I then took apart my P3s and I soldered the wires back onto the circuit board and I got the compass Workin again, but then I realized that ever since then now, I have two problems, the camera is going crazy for a minute, and after a little while, it fixes itself. But another thing also that i never had happen before, it says can't fly yet, drone still warming up or whatever. What is that all about tho??? Bc I've never had a problem before where the drone would say warming up n not ready to fly yet, wtf???? And also. The camera spinning crazy. Someone please tell me why my drone says not ready to fly still warming up, tell me why when it never did that shit before tho???
THANKS! I wish I would have seen this before selling my gimbal on ebay. My gimbal was doing that same thing. But at least I did get $115 for my "broken" gimbal. My new Phantom 3 was doing this all of a sudden. And thankfully was able to fix it this time
I would need to see a video of the malfunction, and then I should be able to tell a little better what is going on. You can send videos to heartlineeducation@gmail.com. You can also share it with me through Google Drive if you'd like
David Lamb hi thank you for asking and for the reminder, YESSSS, is working perfectly, isn’t overheating anymore and the camera is like new, your video is very instructive, thank you very much for posting it, my husband was impressed, the credits belongs to you!!!!
You take the backplate of the R. Axis, pull the board away till it comes off the shaft, it will come out about 10mm plenty of room to get pliers to shift the shaft. 5min job, I have done enough of them.
You have to go into the app controller settings and press rc pairing. Then you press the button on the underside of the craft and hold it till it blinks.
That blue tounge Kid try changing the ribbon cable. I changed mine and the it started moving but is now doing the crazy dance. I’m gonna try this step now
I told my phantom 3 to shake it but don't break it baby and then shy slowly shook it and then stopped one day and acted like a normal bitch then. She listened to me. Yeahhh
MIne was still doing the crazy dance after these steps but yesterday I decided to look what’s going on, so i open the app on my tablet clicked on the 3 dot on the top right corner, gimbal settings and clicked on the gimbal auto calibration, now, everything is working fine! Hope this helps!
Such a legend mate... this helped me fix my phantom 3. I didn’t have the correct tool to tighten that screw so I just used a blunt knife and that worked. Very happy cheers
So glad!! These things are expensive enough ha

Cool idea! Glad it all worked out!
Dude! You’re the MAN! Fixed mine with the second suggestion. It’s fixed and in really happy. Thank you sir
By far the best 'gimble overload fix' movie! Thanks man
So glad you found it helpful, thanks!
After replacing the flat lead on the gimble of my P3 Standard after a big smash, I had this problem, thanks to this video I am now up and running again. Thank You

Thats awesome. Hope it doesn't happen again :)
You're the man this fixed my drone thanks a million it's been down for months after I transported it after losing the gimbal lock
Thanks. Fixed mine. I was about to send it off for repairs. You saved me some money.
Glad its still helping people!
wow - just saved my day+++ thanks for putting this out.
Great Video! You saved me a lot of headache! My camera pin was not in line! Thank you!
Thank you! I am glad it saved you some time/money :)

Thanks for the video, a loose setscrew you pointed out was causing a lot of gimbal chatter.
Thank u so much buddy. One more saved drone. Keep sharing good videos!
Thanks!!! I would hate for you to have to pay to send it into DJI so I am glad you fixed it on your own!

No that should work just fine. As long as you aren't touching the circuit board
I have a chance to buy a phantom 3 standard that as the same swinging gimbal issue but he says he happened after a failed firmware update. Is it bricked or could it be fixed?

Did that shaft spin as a result of crash?
Holy Molly! Amazing! Thank you
The first step worked for me thanks!!!

Me hace lo mismo. Como lo soluciono???
Obrigado, pela dica vou tentar aplicar no meu drone que apresenta o mesmo.
This vid rocks bru
excellent, i will do it tonight, and letting you know!!!

Amazing, you saved me..
It worked!
Thank you.Very Very much
You DON"T need to pull the motor apart! Longnose pliers will turn the shaft.
Doesn't seem correct. How do you get the pliers to grip on the metal, which is protected by the black plastic?
You take the backplate of the R. Axis, pull the board away till it comes off the shaft, it will come out about 10mm plenty of room to get pliers to shift the shaft. 5min job, I have done enough of them.
My brother used the drone for cutting trees OH SHIT IT BROKEN CAN YOU HELP ME
thanks dude, now just try to fix *controller signal weak*
Wrap the Ariels in Tin Foil
You have to go into the app controller settings and press rc pairing. Then you press the button on the underside of the craft and hold it till it blinks.
Mine is lined up but still spinning
