The list below is a parts list of Kyl's Build
- Turbo Manifold/Turbo Headers - DIY top log manifold or custom fabricated
- Turbo itself - gt28, oil and water-cooled 5/7psi
- Turbo dump pipe - DIY or Custom fabricated
- Turbo water fittings m14x1.5 banjo to 5/16 barb
- Turbo oil return fitting male an10 + female an10 to 3/8 barb
- 8/10mm oil hose for turbo oil return 1 meter
- Turbo feed fitting m11x1 4an 1mm restrictor x2
- Turbo oil feed 4an line and micro filter + 4an 90 degree fitting
- 3/8 water rubber hose or silicone hose 2m
- 2x brass 3/8 t pieces
- 10x small screw hose clamps
- Turbosmart boost gauge or similar brand for efficiency
- 1zzfe fuel injectors
- Rank 1 DIY or full fuel return kit with rising rate reg
- Intercooler - 470x170x50 with 2 or 2.2inch in/out Or similar
-Intercooler piping kit with clamps/hoses 2.25inch or 2inch

1G turbo gaining popularity, hopefully we start to see more dedicated aftermarket stuff for the 1G platform seeings how expense JZ stuff is now
1G's are awfully weak tho :( And the gearboxes are the same glasshouse 3rd gear as the S15 silvias. But yes, its great if u get around 300hp but thats about what it can handle :/
We can all agree and I’d say about 80% of us don’t have around 5-10k to splurge on a 1JZ nd R154 + Turbo and all the mandatory parts which is why boosting the 1G is purely for fun and not crazy speed therefore finding a well priced fabricator for the 1G helps heaps!
@@kingnorlen not really its only the rods that are chocolate, and the j160 box's aren't that weak if you treat them well. Either way no problem for me I have forged 1GGTE internals and a j160 with the circliip mod going in mine. Should be able to squeeze 300kw with the set up.

@@kingnorlen sorry for the late reply man, if you haven't already googled it and looked into it basically the circlip between 3rd and 4th have the tendency to rips itself apart and cause havoc within the box when you turn the power up, so you get a stronger circplip machined and put in and apparantly the box will hold way more torque safely, supposedly around 500nm. Not everyone has this problem, but it's definitely something to consider if your boosting your car and especially if you plan on driving it hard.
I just did this on my is200. Bought it for 2k auto 280thou....bought my own parts and did manual conversion, welded up my own exhaust and manifold. Long term plans standalone instead of fuel cut and metal headgasket+arp studs +e85. Fun turbo car for only being sub 5k into it.... after dropping like 20k into my s13 for the same thing hahah

This video is great , you have no idea how many people told me you can’t modify a stock car with stock ecu, I have a 2jzge auto gs300 nat, stock ecu, stock injectors, upgraded fuel pump boosted 7-8psi all day long running strong, zero issues and still 20-22mpg
When people tell you you can’t do something, question why not? Usually cause those people haven’t done the homework

Couldn't agree more with you man! alot of people say they want to turbo their car but not many of them go balls deep in their research and homework but none the less its very satisfying to see what can be achieved and the outcome you can potentially gain if you just put in the work.
Presently I own a Toyota Mark2 gx81 with 1GFE inline 6 engine? I'm just curious about what are the ideal modifications and upgrades needed for my car!
$1500 is crazy! Wish I could fabricate. I check the budget turbo kit on rankone performance and it's about AUD 3,200 with shipping ($400 for shipping)

Its actually a fun engine to play round with. Honestly can run stock int's with a turbo as long as the threshold of the turbo at like 1 bar and not overload and can do well. Its mostly reaching high hp numbers where lowering the comp ratio is beneficial.

Yes an auto with this setup is doable, just continue with your deep research. A lot of people go with the piggy back ecu from uk or you can go straight haltech ecu and get it tuned accordingly to your setup to optimise your cars modifications

Bro I have the same car ( japanese verson) with the same 1gfe engine, I want the same thing a all round everyday car with the added extra when needed, I intend to do the same thing with mine after I have rebuild the front end.
However I am having problem finding the manifolds, can anyone post links where I can buy the manifolds, I am in a small Caribbean island, making them is not an option

From memory we used the stock ecu bro, probably would run alot better with an aftermarket but we went budget

There's a lot of people in Ireland that will sell you a log manifold and downpipe that hooks up to the original center cat for a few hundred euro.
The one thing I'd like to figure out for going turbo on my IS is a decent way to do tps+rpm based boost control, so the boost doesn't ramp in too hard to protect the rods. For now it's looking like apexi acv-r
I use a gfb geforce 2 boost controller for boost by gear in my IS. works a treat

We would recommend not going BEE*R limiter as the is200 does not like revlimiters tbh.
We’ve actually left the throttle body as is, with boost you will still get some sluggishness but it’s definitely a night and day difference in response.
Sluggishness will be well noticed before the 3000rpm mark and that’s just due to the ethrottle
if you decide to stay N/A you can do the ethrottle delete but be advised as it puts the ecu into a fail safe na tune, as for turbo - running the standalone stock ecu still works great as it can control your fueling better.

Do you know exactly why the 1gs don't like rev limiters?
By ethrottle delete your talking 1:1 throttle everyone does? Grinding down that spacer thing in the TB?
What are your thoughts on ACIS delete? I've seen a few do it and am a little undecided.
1GFE, FE stands for fuel economy and these motors weren’t meant for any harsh driving unless built correctly, rods are very thin and the motor can be pushed but doesn’t necessarily mean it will always like being pushed so staying around 7psi is about the sweet spot for daily driving and lasting a long time with average care.
Ethrottle which is basically the ecu’s computer sending information based on the push of the acceleration pedal and how they were made. Defs helps to get the car going and it was a new tech that they tried at the time. Like we mentioned earlier leaving the throttle body as is would give you the best factory yet still responsive touch
I haven’t researched much on ACIS but I’ll defs get back to you man!
@@innerki9671 I've just gotten an is200 that has the e throttle delete, would having the ecu in the fail safe mode be a problem if I went turbo? I'm not too sure on what the fail safe mode changes I haven't had a chance to look into it too much as of yet
It’s entirely up to you, that ethrottle mod essentially just keeps the valve open within the throttle body whilst idle so it feels like your going faster but really over time it’ll cause strain on your motor along with the turbo just doesn’t justify it for daily driving
I have a 1999 Mark 2 with the 1gfe, would the turbo process be the same as the IS?
Very similar because of the motor being the exact same, the only differences in that I can see would be custom fittings due to engine and chassis sizing being different etc intercooler being smaller or larger, whatever you can fit and get the most out of efficiently

Nope! We kept that stock aswell as the ecu mate
What sorta research do u recommend doing
Search up UK is200 turbos, follow their builds and get knowledgeable enough to understand all the main components you need such as log manifold, turbo itself, fuel regulator, intercooler, wastegate. Also don’t just wait until you know everything. If you’re serious just buy bits and pieces and also learn along as you go. Yes all the info can be overwhelming but once you know what is most necessary it can be simplified. We’ve put a long list of parts that are both required and optional in the description, have a look at all those parts and write down what their purpose is and what role they play within the build. Hope this helps bro!

There’s is a guy in Poland running 1.26 bar with a 1mm decompression plate making 320hp same as stock 2jzgte would u say 18psi with a decompression plate is too much

Hey mate! depends on how healthy the motor is, if it needs a refresh then do that before you turbo otherwise look into 1j and you'll be happier

I’m having a hard time finding connecting rods for my 1gfe because I intend on rebuilding my engine then turbo it like you did… I’m getting pistons but can’t find rods anywhere… any suggestions as to what connecting rods I can get that will fit? Oh and I tried looking for 1ggte ones as well and when I did find them they’re way too expensive… cost of a Jz engine
This motor was stock bro, I agree very hard to find con rods since these motors weren’t made to build but I’m sure you can find something out there

Just full bolt on, ecu can handle it but you won’t get the most out of it. Still very efficient on fuel eg
@@innerki9671 you said you got turbo from ebay, ive seen on ebay full kits that come w turbo, manifold, intercooler, piping, hoses and connectors, would you recommend a full kit from ebay?
EDIT: it also comes with a piggy back that wires into factory ecu allowing upto 7-9psi while also allowing more if you get con rods and pistons forged
@@darnellpoutai-teawa7276 You can do 7 psi on the standard ecu with a black box if you go return style, fuel pressure reg and 1zz injectors. Most simple is200 turbos are using the standard ecu and 6-9 psi

Almost the same as normal, running the standalone stock ecu allows efficient fueling therefore not much of a big difference at all

Hey bro , I’ve swapped my is200 turbo few months ago with a j160 box. I’m not sure where you are from but in the uk is200 manuals come standard with the j160
I m in the Caribbean, mine is a automatic transmission and everyone keep telling me there is no way to change the gearbox to manual, I would have to change the igfe 6 clyinder engine also.
But I am seeing people on social media with the 1gfe manual gearbox
@@ucandiy9063 I had someone swap my auto (4 speed) into the j160 box in less than a day it was pretty straight forward and cheap aswell , i ordered the manual swap kit online which included the gearbox , slave cylinder, clutch pedals ect just needed to sort a clutch and flywheel. All swapped with the standard 1gfe engine
