I’ve been fortunate for over 35 years to have worked on, repaired and shouldered more FAL rifles than I care to remember. DSA has always shipped rifles with a rust protector in the barrel to minimize corrosion during shipping, especially in cold Illinois Winters! Secondly, on an 11” FAL rifle you need to adjust the gas system regulator to account for ammo type, weather/temperature and dirt. One of the wonderful attributes of the FAL is that great adjustable gas system! Lastly, it was adopted in 93+ countries as the “right” arm of the free world! Contact the people at DSA and they will send you a few more magazines! They are great people over there, always looking to help others in the firearm community! Looking forward to your next video! DS Arms almost had me sold on an 18 inch Para folder about 15 years ago when I inherited a little money. I right handed but cross eye dominant, so I shoot left handed, and I managed to find an Imbel FAL at a pawn shop to handle. I couldn't get over the ergos of the FAL shooting southpaw. I ended up going with a Springfield M1A, which turned out to be a piece of shit. Now I run an Aero Precision M5 AR10 for my .308 needs and am much happier with it. Still love the history of the FAL, but I find better ergos and functionality from the AR10.
I feel u i love the dsa sa58 but magazine compatibility and I already mastered the ar platform so ar 10 cheaper but reliable accurate saw a woman in Alaska drop a grizzy two shots nad the bear didnt run off at the first hit was in shock second round dropped him on site
Broke the bolt head assembly around 75 rounds. (2) of their poly mags split on me while loading the first time. 😂 The firearm has a unique action and is incredible to shoot - but the QC at DSA needs some help.
I would say 95% of rifles come with one magazine. You must be used to getting treated special by the manufacturers to send you extra stuff for a good review.
I've had their 16in IBC for 3 years now. I had a number of feeding issues with the polymer 20rd mag provided. After sourcing new production steel mags (not DSA brand) I have yet to have another failure.
Very cool gun, but I wouldnt run that barrel length. Then again, the Army's new M5 is going with a 13" barrel suppressed in 6.8x51, so maybe short is the way to go.
Madlad throws a 600 dollar jacket on the floor, then scuffs up the paint on that piece of automotive art. Love the FAL, but I really want to see a modernised version in a calibre like 6mm arc or 6.5 Grendel.
You can adjust the gas flow, at least you can on the full size models, for a bit less felt recoil and a lot less rifle movement. I've got a DSA SA58, with Steyr parts that DSA imported way back when, that I bought used almost 20 years ago. Had Jayson at Investment Grade cut the barrel back from 21 to 16, along with opening the gas port. The Canadians made a 30 round mag for their C2a1 lmg, and DSA modified a bunch of Bren 7.62x51 thirty rounders for domestic sale also about 20 years ago. The standard metal 20 rounders, you can fit ten of them in a 7.62 ammo can, with our without magpuls.
There's a spanner to adjust the front sight, a lot like the AR FSB front sight tool. Fits over the post and you turn it up or down for elevation. That Para rear sight is way better than trying to adjust windage by drifting the rear in the notch.
Agreed, a FNC in production again would be a real game changer and reinvigorate DSAs place in the market. I know I would have one on order to keep my DSA 16” para company
The resurrection of the FNC would nostalgic, but for some reason, having an almost miniaturized version of the FAL seems so appealing to me. Like what the mini 14 could have been to the M1A.
SLR was one of my service rifles, good rifle, accurate and reliable with simple malfunction drills. Cut down barrel must really reduce velocity and accuracy. Auto a waste of ammo on these, and ammo heavy to carry. 10 mags 7.62 twice the weight of 10 mags 5.56 and a third less ammo. Oh and front sight adjustment simple.
$20 mags... found that out after I bought my osw. Mine was broken out of the box, cases qualified as astronauts with gas adjusted all the way opened and closed. Sent it in and DSA fixed the issue, quickly. Mine is a flame throwing heathen, I love it.
Yeah what a waste of a good round. That’s just beyond stupid to go that short in 308 because you’ve completely neutered that round. You have ask the weight, expense and recoil of 308 but none of the power or long range ability.
I think I've read elsewhere that the DSA factory, plastic magazines are kinda trash anyway, so they might have done you a favor not sending more your way. I guess maybe DSA just assumes most end users will dispose of the one provided anyway.
I had heard the Moses mags were actually pretty good. But that company is defunct now. I've heard the DS polymer mags also were less than desirable also. I've got like 20 surplus mags 4 of those are 30nrnd Curved bren mags. Too bad magpul won't do FAL mags

Only 1 mag.... You had to know you were getting a sbr FAL, might have been a cooler video with extra mags and a view of the gun and not the backside of your broken jacket.
It's the Right* arm of the free world, but close enough, lol. That malfunction was probably because of the plastic mag, I've heard lots of bad things about them. Keep an eye on the FALfiles marketplace and you should be able to score some good metal ones pretty quickly

I think they are sweet. the only problem is, I honestly just do not have that kind of money for one. I was thinking about building an AR-10/308 in a short barreled configuration, that way I could buy it piece by piece.

Picked up my SA58 about a month ago. I have the 18" variant and love it but finding FAL mags is a tough mission. No one currently produces metal mags

DSArms is hell bent on never doing anything better. An 11" 308 is moving M80 ball at like 2300 FPS. It's just stupid at this point.

My DSA mag doesn’t fit in my rifle. I had to get surplus mags which are stupid hard to find lately.
