Never gets old listening to the report of a good old FN-FAL, during basics at 'Technical Services Training School' in Voortrekkerhoogte 1976, our first trip to the range was super exciting, we got to shoot at various distances and operate the targets in the 'pit'. good memories.
Awesome. Glad to meet another R1/ FN enjoyer! Thank you for your service.
Very cool lookin, excited to see further updates
Thanks. Working diligently on upgrading it. It has got an MLOK rail so far. More to come
NICE!!! I really like that ambi mag release, between that and the pic rail dust cover I think that's a very nice balance of modernization and keeping some of the retro aesthetic.
I agree with you. The fixed stock definitely adds to the classic vibe. Now off to modernize a few things on this rifle and make it a sick 16" Recce rifle... since Recce is the way 🤔
@@thefalguy9848 Yeah!!! I'm looking forward to seeing that bru!
Well done my Boet!
Thanks
I have an extra 21” Imbel I built on a DSA receiver. I was thinking of cutting it down to a 16” to make a truck gun for coyote control on my farm here in North Dakota. You kinda inspired me, looks like it would be a handy and fast length rather than a 21”.
I agree with being more handy. 21" length is great but in and around vehicles it's long and cumbersome. If you need something quick and fast, 16" is the way to go! With the fixed stock this rifle is a smooth shooting one as well...
Sounds good. I built my own 16" last year. Don't forget to drill the gas port larger too. The shorter barrel needs more gas to cycle the action.

Understand. What size?
@@ffarmchicken I pulled this nugget from the FALfiles years ago. "For a cut 18” FAL barrel- Open gas port to .116". If that fails, open to 3mm or .1181". I started with that to be safe and I ended up at 3.1 mm or .122 for my 16".

Ok. With that size hole, is your gas adjuster in the middle position open? And does it toss cases over 20’?
Here in the Philippines I got the chance to shoot the G1 rifle a German stepbro of Fn Fal... A very powerful rifle the owner (my friend) says he won't sell it to another gun lover millionaire, for us it's a gem...
The G1 was given to Moro Rebels during the 1970s by Muamar Ghadaffi and some were captured by our government forces therefore ending at the hands of my friend ( a retired Soldier & Firearms collector) .
Yes, the G1s are top notch firearms. I wish I could own one here in the US. Glad you enjoyed that rifle
Mine its like that....😊 great video
Thanks!
How FN FAL can be improved ? Easy front half FN FAL and Back half G3. Delayed Roller Blow Back or Roller Delayed Blow Back system.
Thanks for not doing a 30 to 60 minute review like the other major channels (cough, Garand Thumb). Nobody has time for that.
Agree 100%. I don't have time for that either. I want this to be quick and to the point. Want more info? Go watch the 60min edition 🙂
Do you think in the 70’s the FN did better against the enemy in7.62x51 in Rhodesia and SA vs like the US using 5.56 in Vietnam against enemies in combat!
I just picked up a DSA 16 inch improved battle carbine with a fluted barrel. Any experience?
Never played with one. Let me know how it goes! Would be eager to see its performance
Do you perfer the 16, 18, or 21 inch barrel for practicality and all around use ?
Have you tried the Israel F.A.D. defense grip for the FAL ? If so, what do you think about it as far as angle , texture, width & finger grove placement?
I enjoy my DSA 16" Para rifle the most. About to hit 3yrs on that rifle and above 1,5k rounds (if memory serves me right). Runs smooth, got decent accuracy and is super easy to operate. My 21" is more for retro vibes and better accuracy but that's about it.
I have never played with the FAB Defense grip. I think most of their products (for AR, AK, FAL) look horrendously awful and chunky. I don't need a chunky gun...
Do you know if the Halbek device will fit on this rifle?
Due to the bipod-cut barrel the Halbek device will not fit on this specific DSA. But if you own a 16" FAL with a non-bipod-cut barrel then you're good to go
What type of upgrades/changes are you going to make to this one? Will there be vids around this
MLOK handguard, optic, flashlight.
@thefalguy9848 just ordered one of these and pretty much same for my upgrades I'm gonna get. Tho how is that stock? What do you think of the brs stock as an upgrade?
How much does it weigh?
8.35lbs
What’s the name of the song playing?
How is the reliability of the shorter fal? Does it suffer?
I have not seen nor experienced any reliability issues. I own 3 that are shorter than 21" and so far no problems with either of them
Two things! Take that kak flag off your shoulder. And learn to double tap. R1 riflemen were trained to double tap.
You're right, there is always improvement in terms of shooting. And I'm by far no expert on this.
But I think I'm old enough to figure out what patch I want to wear on my shoulder!
@@thefalguy9848 Oranje, wit en blou.
@@thefalguy9848 Double tapping is easy! It's simply BANG BANG

Please be nicer to those 30rnd mags, they're so rare.
At the end of the day they are here to be used...
