I really like the MSR and the fact that CIG decided to remove the large center thruster, making clearance so that vehicles can fit in the cargo hold. It was the right choice IMO and I don't think I would have pledged for it otherwise. Also the empty space across from the scanning station, should be turned into a Captains quarters. There should be enough room if you move a bunk out of the crew quarters which is on the other side of the same wall. And put a window in the rec/food area, that would be nice. Just put the food counter on the blank back wall and the window in the front.
Love the ship, I can't wait for them to add data running so I can use it to it's fullest potential. Unfortunately data running doesn't seem to be on the tracker right now
You must upgrade the QT Drive, Shields; personally I change the missiles to all Size 2's to get more bang for your buck. The biggest problem, which was fixed once, is the damn doors.... they should let us keep them open again as it makes it easier to run in and out. This is not a good ship for single player combat, however you can do it. It does drink Hydro pretty quick, however it used to have a fuel scoop, I believe they removed it. This was a bad play, but forces gameplay with the refueling ship. It is very maneuverable, quick, and fun to fly. Great for ROC mining, bunker missions with a vehicle, box missions (fun only, as you can use smaller ships to do it quickly), and really good for multicrew play. I wish they would add 1 size 3 shield instead of 2 size 2's.
I know, a Bolon? What were they thinking? They portray the ship as the super fast and stealthy multi-role ship and put components in it that just don't make sense. Still enjoy the ship and it is my light shipping and vehicle transport ship. Be nice if they fixed some things. CIG is bad about not finishing things.
The ship is very nice and certainly gives the Millennium Falcon vibe. The big issue I have with the ship is its lack of physical security regarding the servers. Anyone walking onto the ship that goes forward beyond the cargo bay passes by the servers and therefore has physical access potential. I think they could have moved things around a bit to provide better security.
As soon as get in my MSR I lock all the doors, never had that ship stolen. And unless they can cut through doors the server room is safe, just lock the doors 😁
MSR is excellent - and will be even better once the secondary (v close to cockpit) separate entrance is put it - massively needed and will make it TOP shelf... this was just confirmed by CIG last week...
Love the ship , i got with LTI, so i'm keeping it , Needs a personal elevator to the cock pit . Also not related to the Star Runner, but what i would also personally Love is the ability to hire MPC personal to man turrets and other positions , as i have no friends lol , thanks for the Vid ,
Since CIG is trying to make ships fun / "realistic". I wish they would have consulted more with real life engineers and architects to design the bigger ships. None of the bigger ships make complete sense. The big ship designs all have many elements that aren't fun or realistic- interior wise. The exteriors are pretty awesome overall- super cool and sexy.

I mainly use mine for moving my refined quantanium to market. The shielded storage and the data mining / running capabilities interest me but I've never had anything that needed shielded and as you say data isn't in the game yet. It serves a need I have for now and has upside for other play styles. For the same money more or less I could have gotten a M2 but I'm just not interested in investing my in game money into a cargo needing that much space and moving it to another place with the threat of piracy coming. I had enough for a C2 or A2 also but I just don't have that kind of space requirements and all the turrets bother me. A2 may be your best cargo hauler though depending on AI turrets.
should have area in the "hidden tunnel" for human smuggling that can not be scanned so you can sneak ppl with crime stats into stations and other places a lot of room down there that is wasted
Once you can slave the turrets to pilot control with the ample computers onboard this ship will be half decent for solo combat and is the best medium multi role ship in my opinion
Got one, it's to good to pass on. Got the night runner skin on it as well, really enjoy it with cyclone rc, doing missions. It should fit through a medium gate and the constellation is large size, could use a faster way into the cockpit. o7
My MSR is planned to be my Day 1 daily driver. She's named "DEXY'S MIDNIGHT" (after Dexy's Midnight Runners, famous for the song Come On Eileen) and with the Nightrunner skin, it's even more apt. now I just need to find a copilot named Eileen. I expect that with the speed of light making interstellar communication by radio very impractical, the only way to get e-mails, banking records, government records, etc from system to system will be to "pony express" it by ship, and thus with Data as cargo, there is no better ship than the MSR, with it's 5 computers. and with almost as much cargo as the FL Max, you might significantly increase the value of your cargo runs by adding DATA. I think it will be a most excellent earner for the early game.
I've been a backer since early 2014 and the MSR is the only ship I have bought on concept. I'd like to make some changes to it but I still love it as it is anyways.
My only issues with the ship are: Only 1 Exit/Entrance to the outside, and Servers are not secure so if you have someone on the ship who has nefarious intentions they can sabotage/access the servers easily.
Toilets in the scanning room would be terrible! Just imagine, you are knee deep in the heist of your career, slicing into the most difficould networks and then it happens... your colleague walks in, takes a seat and drops the most rancid bomb of HIS carreer. Better have it in a hallway where you can run past the stench
I wouldn't change anything outside giving the chin turret more deflection to engage targets. The only other big push I want to see is every ship being able to turn off nav strobes without shutting the entire ship down.

People have a lot of "first world problems" with this ship, but I'd say the Mercury Star Runner is one of the most stunning and evocative digital assets ever placed in a video game.
I hope I can pledge one soon. I just started in the verse a few weeks ago. Loving it so far. I honestly don’t have a problem (with the idea) that there is only one entrance. I feel running through vs waiting for an elevator or cargo ramp on my Connie Taurus won’t be a problem. Seen that complaint by ALOT of people.
I think the perfect name for a Javelin Capital ship would have to be 'The Tickle Monster'...so that when you charge into battle your piercing battle cry can be "...heeeere comes the Tickle Monster!"
Imagine if a dev went in and made the Chess board more playable. Larger pieces, glowing squares representing legal moves of a selected piece, disallow illegal moves, automatic captures that move captured pieces off the board, board reset button, and a large display in the room showing a top down view of the game for spectators and players. Would be so cool to actually WANT to have a match during long travels or when you scanner is busy scanning or hacking something. I named mine Poisoned Pawn as an homage to that board and as a cheeky title of the ship being a "bait ship".
The interior has a lot of wasted space. What's the point of those tunnels underneath? Maybe turn that into more shielded cargo space. The servers are exposed. Its in the main corridor. They should be in the empty space of the scanner room which is a secured dead end. Also has hydrogen fuel economy issues. If they're gonna make it use a lot of fuel at least give it bigger fuel tanks so you don't need to refuel all the time.
The Tunnels underneath are not "wasted space", they are gonne be really usefulll once you have to manually maintain your ship. Besides that, the area is way to low to be a cargo hold. Dont forget, the Fuel Tanks, Avionics and Piping do take up space in a ship as well. While not being completely layed out, they will be eventually and CIG is keeping some free space for this around inside the ships. Wasted Space in general is the wrong term for the MSR. It has the second best space usage of all ingame ships, only bested by the 400i. You literally can find ONE ship in the verse that has even less wasted space than the MSR.
Rudimentary data running could be added sooner than later, but in depth implementation may take a while longer. Data running as it seems may only be viable if you have the minimum 2 systems.
I think it's garbage. It's 110 bucks or 2 million UEC more than the Taurus but carries less cargo, has half Hull HP, smaller shields, an insecure entrance, and fewer weapons. CIG thoroughly nerfed this poor ship...

It does need a few modifications to be perfect. Secondary entrance, slaving 1 turret to the front, the empty spaces.
Great intro of the MSR. I just purchased one because it's my favorite ship and you can't buy them with credits like before.
Would be nice is the rec room and bedroom actually had a few windows in the ceiling to make it feel a bit more open

Npcs will be available in the future to hire, failing that you will be able to use AI blades to control turrets automatically 😀 thanks !

MSR is gonna be so awesome when scanning, decrypt, delivery of data game play happens. Until then great daily driver, utility ship its really so good.

I like it a lot too, but I don't know why it's the only ship whose HUD is completely pixelated.
