In todays video i go over the Banu Merchantman and try to explain why i want one at the upcoming IAE on the 19th of November . This ship certainly has alot to offer, impressive firepower, cargo hold and 2 on board markets! These are just a few reasons as to why I wish to own one. This ship is simply outstanding in my eyes very nice to look at as well as being able to offer up multiple different game loops in star citizen. Time will tell on how it performs it various roles within the verse but what do you guys think of this ship?

Well the BMM is turning out to be pretty much exactly how I hoped it would be. Large enough to be your base with virtually every facility you might need, massive amount of cargo space, cargo elevator is big enough to support a wide array of vehicles, requires a relatively small crew, a hanger big enough to support a wide array of fighter types or utility craft, small enough to land at most landing sites, capable of atmospheric operations and ground landings, long ranged, self-sufficient and enough firepower and armor to make the smaller cap ships think twice about engaging. It also should be pretty fast, maybe enough to outrun what it can't outfight. Of all this ships in the game, this one feels like the perfect jack-of-all- trades ship, capable of doing pretty much any type of gameplay you might want to do. My only issue is that there seems like there is going to be an absolute ton of wasted space in the ship with all the wide open spaces. I mean you could fit like 2 more bridgest just in the walkway leading up to the top turret. Then again I guess you could say that many being aliens, the Banu need lots of wide open spaces.
That seems to be a weakness of the SC ship design process. They don't know how to use the space in large ships realistically or effectively.

@@B.D.E. I've toured a WWII submarine... I'm fine with the use of space in the ships. I don't want to have to crawl through a bulkhead door every few feet. :P
A trade ship should by nature, fully utilize every bit of space it has, only luxurious or adventure ship should allow wide open space for comfort.

I knew I wanted this ship from it's concept. The idea of a traveling bazaar just sounded so unique and way too cool to pass it up. I got mine when it was 250 in 2015. It was a CCU from p72 Archimedes so it has LTI. I'm excited. I hope you can get your hands on one too. Good luck!
Got it for 250 too and not gonna be suprised if it ends up 1000+. Glad I got my 890 too at the starting price 😅
I got mine when it was really cheap, and now its bigger than a 890 jump, so glad I got one when I did. Loving 3.15, waiting on that new HD armor to come so I can take them off their cool bodies. Also love the lore background and history recap!

I bought an avenger way back. Upgraded it to the starfarer before the price increase and then upgraded to the BMM before the last increase. about 250.

The captain stands at the front of the bridge. The seat all the way at the back is for the top turret(which you can see above it). I've been waiting for my BMM since 2013, and I've never been happier with the direction it's being taken. The latest concept is everything it was promised to be in the original concept, and more(Defender hangar).
I was blown away by the new design, I was not expecting that level of excellence. I loved every single part of it, even the cockpit/helm was just perfect, layout and colors. Loved the lore part in the beginning. The seat in the back in the cockpit is for the big turret up top; captain's position is standing in the very front :D

The BMM I purchased when it first came out ($250 cdn). I saw it as an interesting alien cargo ship. I never would have thought that this ship would have changed so much. Some people like specialized ships, but for me I like jack-of-all trade ships. The flexibility of this ship is what I value the most and Very happy with how it is turning out. Personally I can't wait to explore the verse with the BMM and see where the solar winds take me. :)

This is my exact though of last year's IAE when I got one. Didnt know it would get everything it did now. But now with the concept, I know that money was worth it. Especially since the LTI ship I upgraded from was a Harbinger. Compared to a simple Harb this is fantastic.

A much better and more useful ship than an 890J. To me at least, it's the only ship you will ever need as you can use it to earn everything else in the game.
Having hirable NPCs would help the eternal solo gamer like me, so I am hoping for that. This ship looks amazing and I share your enthusiasm about it. Also, I really agree with what you said about valuing how a ship makes you feel. Gaming is truly an an extension of art and music, it's about how it enhances your experience of your life.
I can't freaking wait for my BMM. I was lucky enough to get it for $250. The BMM is going to be my daily flyer, my home, my business, my life. The BMM has me beyond stoked with excitement! She will make Origin 890's like like a discount carnival cruise ship when she's done.
Not a lot can change now . It Is past concept now and in white box . The changes were shown in citcon. I passed on it when it was super cheap but I got it when it was 350 so I'm happy enough about that
350 is a great price! i would be very happy with that.
With the insider of the bbm you will be happy with what they showed, beyond the aberration of the aesthetic change on the outside, everything else more than beautiful
IIRC they said the Banu don't have artists as a profession. Instead they express their artistic skill in their craftsmanship. It backs up the idea of a nomadic trading people that basically wear their wealth. It's also one of the reasons I think a Merchantman is going to be expensive and hard to get ingame. It represents a high degree of wealth for a Banu.
The Merchantman is classy. Origin is more for space tourists.

8:56 Those two turrets on the wings are size 4 remote turrets. And the smaller ones are in fact point defense auto turrets

Same all day, Just snagged mine at IAE last night. SO pumped I got my hands on one, the price will probably keep go up. It's on the roadmap for a release Q2 2023. Definitely worth melting my carrack for.
BMM is now in Grey Box... Oh my few steps closer to see it in game
yeah, after playing SC for a year…I started to build a real fleet for myself. This was the first I CCU’d too. It is my flagship of my fleet! Still thinking of a name but I guess I still have plenty of time to figure one out. But just love this ship!

Fantastic video. Good restraint on the details due to possible changes. I just got my BMM at this years IAE, upgraded from C2 (get C2 as loaner anyway for now). I have watched this video several times in hopeful impatience for the day this is released. I can't wait to run around the verse in it. Its beautiful and huge and hopefully profitable for cargo running, despite the NPC crew and fuel costs. Thanks for the great content. Keep up the great work.

The H. R. Giger feel is what got me wanting this, a futuristic version of the Alien movie ships. I upgraded my Cat to this a while back and now have a C2 as a loaner, couldn't be happier. I hope to some day to have players selling their salvage in my shops and I can travel to wherever they need to sell. Origin, Crusader, Banu are my ships of choice.
One advantage to this over the 890 Jump is that it's not hull limited, so you can CCU up to it.
Love the idea that you could be a trader for all off planet communities. They look foreword to your yearly? arrival.
I hope they go the vanguard/ares route and make the Tachyonns on Banu ships bespoke. That gives them the opportunity to balance the BMM and the Defender. Hit-scan capital guns (dual s8 hit scan guns? DODGE THIS) or even the Defender could really become something scary if they could buff its guns and not worry about them getting equipped onto a sabre or something.

Yeah I got one when it was $250 which was a lot for me at the time. Glad I bought it now though. Always just wanted a merchant ship and knew they were promising a lot at that price point. Still have a few $0 CCU's from $250 ships, would gift you one if I could! Always love merchantman content xD

The wild part is you can/could get one for less than 250$ with the right CCU chain, mine was 225.- but I have heard people going even lower.
@@-JustHuman- yeah considering the CCU's I have and the LTI Dragonfly referral reward that can be upgraded I could get another one for a bit under 200, tempting honestly.
@@-JustHuman- Thats right!. i just start in SC a year ago or so (IAE 2950, Nomad package LTI) and i bought the ccu BMM (Prowler to BMM for 10$ warbond).. and with patient and waiting the correct ccu´s to build the chain. i made it for 200$.. And im pretty sure, it can be build around that price still, maybe a little bit higher, but not so much
At first the weapons on the BMM seem a little overkill but when you stop and think about just what kind of ship it is, not to mention large they are not that out of place. if you WERE going to go after the BMM you would need something better than a couple of fighters to wrestle it down and it would have to be a boarding party, its not a hull C, you won't be able to shoot off a few crates and call it a day. It's hull is armored and cargo holds protected. So it would need weapons to protect it against the more capable corvettes that would consider preying on it. Though it will be kinda fun to see small wolf packs of these give even destroyers a hard time.
I can't wait to see how this plays out in the future
You got a point there, fighters couldn't deplete bmm's shields, but bmm's weapons can't do much against fighers as well, so, boarding parties should be a problem, and i'm ok with that, should be a really fun gameplay.
This ship has somewhat become a capital ship when they showed it off in the recent star citizen episode, can’t wait to see it in-game😃
My wish is SQ42 to get release so that we can play as Alien species in Star Citizen PU. And fly our alien spaceships too! ✨

Hehe, I have a BMM-to-Carrack CCU... don't think that's going to get used. This will be my biggest ship. I got it when it was only 100 meters long. I'm definitely going to need the NPC crew.

BMM is the only ship I own...nuff said :D I got it years ago for around 230 through some "smart CCU's" :P I was so afraid that they gonna ruin this ship in the end but oh god was I wrong. It turned out to be even better than I hoped for...2.8k scu, 8 markets, 2xS8, internal hangar and imo it's hands down the most beautiful ship in game even looking at this early concept images. I'm in love :D

I would like to see some other color schemes it looks a lot like an 890 jump with wings. One video they said they actually dialed down the alien vibe in the inside to make it appeal to a larger audience. The Banu Defender being the very heavy alien vibe as those ships are actually grown.
So glad I got a CCU to one of these when they first came out. Got a Hull C I was going to CCU into the Merchantman once I have had a play with it, though now it sounds like the Merchantman will be available some time before that. Still not actually sure what the approx release date is for the MM either.
It is a lot of ship that does not require a large crew, people are going to have a lot of fun with this one especially as it now has a fighter hangar as a great bonus :)

Paid 250 usd way waaaay back then cause its my absolute dream ship and it just keeps getting better and better
Yeah, I picked up a couple when it was still about 300. Now that it's sitting comfortably at 500, I'll be keeping one for sure, but I might trade one of them up for something larger. We'll find out this weekend what will be available. The Endeavor is another one I think will be essential for my playstyle.

Melted my Carrack that that took me 6 months to save up for to get a BMM with LTI. Miss my Carrack but highly anticipate this to be every bit as good or better then the Carrack. Also positive ut will surpass the 890 jump in price when she's flyable so I'm happy.
I think it will be very hard to be disappointed by the bmm from what we've seen so far. I am highly anticipating this ship!

The only weird bit is the tower got the turret. I mean it feels like they just needed to find something to put in there? Like that design choice would never make sense. Feels like they just needed to fit something based on concept
There was always a cannon there, since concept. IIRC it used to be a single cannon.

I don't see how the concept could work. What would a player be selling that would make the journey to one worthwhile? They would have to have a whole bunch of items that are only rare loot drops or player manufactured, and not available from NPCs or other shops anywhere, or the whole concept falls apart.
I thought the same thing until I had a look at the starmap and saw just how large the SC Universe is going to be. According to Chris, SC will launch with 5-10 planetary systems. SC has hired a dedicated Planetary Sytem Dev company which will eventually create 100 - 120 systems as promised. The BMM will also be selling to NPC's so I'm betting the market is going to be huge and very profitable.

I was super excited to fly this ship. I've owned it for over a year. Sadly I will no longer have time for my account :(. I'm hoping to find a good home for it.
I feel like the aliens in star citizen are really just humans and you just make them way taller then humans , and slap them with an ugly stick , and wala you have a alien. The ship sounds like you can actually save up , buy some rare goods, and pay a rental for a booth on a Banu ship . Then set up shop.
If you plan on getting one i would now while upgrades in places like star hangar are still around 4-500ish. I predict this ship will probably be 1000+ at release with the new scale.

Bought one long before these new concept images, and not sure tbh how I feel about the rabbithole-esqe wonderland that is depicted. I guess its kewl to some degree, but the disappearing top tower, that turned out to be totally unneccesary since the guns is stored away inside the ship, doesn't sit well with me. Imo it would've been better if they popped out from the top of the tower instead, giving it a reason to exist, besides being just a hollow fez.
yeah if guns would actually on put on a tower, that will be the first thing we will be blowing off tho..

The wild thing is it was 250.-, and with CCU you could get it at even lower, best 225.- I have ever used, will cost me my original Star G though if I use that path. I do have a original concept one at 250.- too, so we will se what I do. Though you can still find some CCU's out there making it as cheap as 250 or 350 or even lower, if you a re lucky.

@@Spaceman-PIN If you want to get a good CCU chain the the forums are a good place. The RETALIATOR to BBM was/is 75$, it might still be here at the next event.

I got my BMM for 175 bucks :-). Free ARGO LTI referal token + a couple of Warbond CCUs and a CCU Gemini (340) to BMM (350) I saved in my Hangar for a couple of years

@@Spaceman-PIN I am too man at first I wanted the reclaimer but then I thought that I was going to fall into much of a niche. It’s an awesome ship and I love the Alien movies design, but it’s made just for salvage. I want something that can be open to different types of gameplay.
Yes me too, and your right the reclaimer definitely has that aliens vibe. But in going to wait until salvage is a fully functioning game loop until I buy that beast ha ha

Got a question for every/anyone... Im dont know if the specs for the BMM Hull HP and general survivability are even available, but ut wouldnt matter much anyway, as I dont have the best understanding of those data points anyway, so could someone give me relative idea of how much 'fire' this ship could be able to take before Kaboom (even if its a complete guess at this point)?
ie: can it take 1 or more of S9 Torps? Can it take half, or maybe a whole magazine of ballistics from the Inferno cannon? I have no clue but it'd be nice to know, even if its a complete guess at this point!
A side question in the same subject as this, is figuring this out as simple as using Erkul to add up DPS until the rated hull HP of a ship is reached then kaboom?

Got myself 2 of them at 350 each. Going to ccu one up for maybe a polaris or just wait till it goes up in price and the other one im going to keep it since they both have lti. Happy that i got them before that citcon and wouldn't be surprised if iae already has its price tag raised so get your ccu's ready up to 600 maybe.

I did ccu mime to a Polaris and I have no regret. Don't wait for it to go up in price. When it'll do, it'll probably fo to Polaris price (750 or more) so ccu to something else will be impoasible.
