  • Which do you prefer? All settings are shown, and skip to the end to hear the differences between the cab sims with the pedal in bypass mode. I wasn't trying to match them at all, just found a cleanish, dirtyish and heavy tone on each that i liked! I hope you find this useful. Basses used are a Limelight Precision and a Sandberg TT4, both strung with D'addario Nickel rounds. No processing on the bass signal whatsoever!

    A very clear, realistic, no-nonsense demo; thank you! My subjective preference is towards the Super Vintage.

      Cheers Kerem and I'm glad it helped! I'm just writing out my thoughts on both, will add a link to the description here tonight when I'm done.

    I really wanted to have the ampeg win for me but i have to go with the Fender model. Just sounds more rounded and a nicer DI sound. Decent drive sound too.

    Awesome demo! strongly considering swapping out my Tech 21 VT bass DI for the 64 black panel

    It sounds like The SV gives the darker punchy P tone some of that high end harmonic breakup. The sizzle of the J works really well with the more mellow smooth sound of the BP. Imo.

    It’s a tie, both sound amazing. The black panel wins for looking cooler. I’ve been back and forth on what preamp/di to get. Was sold on the helix, but no xlr out on the stomp is a deal breaker. Thank you for this video, and thanks to Origin Effects for raising the bar on bass preamps! Going to be placing my order with zZounds 🤘🏻

    Great playing, really like your style. I put some DR nickel rounds on my Lakland and love ‘em. Personally, the SV has eclipsed the Bassrig in this demo, IMHO. Still considering the Ampeg SGT myself. Any experience with that? Thanks for a great demo…

    I don’t know man, I was gassing for the blue one, and though they both sound great, after this video I think I prefer the black one!

      I had the same feeling... blue is versatile but black is really characterful!

    Hey Paddy, im curious the settings on the Black Panel around :30. I can seee the bigger knobs but what about the little toggles etc? Your sound is very warm but I can’t seem to match it with mine.

    I just got the SV. I feel like there’s compression built into it. I was using my compression before this pedal and now I think it sounds over compressed. This pedal has made me rethink my signal chain. What do you think?

    • @PaddyBlight
      @PaddyBlight  2 роки тому

      Same, I was wondering about getting another small compressor to use with this but I don't feel the need!

      @@PaddyBlight yes! I played at church yesterday with it. I usually a compressor and an ampeg classic pedal. But the SV took it to a whole new level. You can play more dynamically but then when you dig in it compresses and sounds great! Lots of compliments from the sound guy and other bass players in the audience.

    I have the 64 and like it a lot. It sounds great but it is also original, I mean there are so many AMPEG pedals on the market. Don't get me wrong I love AMPEG.
    I did not like the cab sim of the 64, it sounds muffled to me, it seems to remove some low end and high end too much. Weird decision to make the sim not switchable at the DI output.
    I hope they will investigate others amps, a Sunn modelT or a Acoustic 370 would be cool

    simple the blackface will make a cheap bass sound great more forward focus, you gotta know your electrics when chasing tone esp after youtube compression, all the 10 percents add up in the mix
