  • In this video we make a pedalboard for our good friend Lucky Diaz of Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band fame. Lucky needed a compact pedalboard to take on the road. We came up with a design that is sturdy, compact and we think, beautiful. Here's how we did it.

      to big for one level / line of pedals, to small for two. you mounted the pedals with tape on the nice board? When you wanna replace it a year later, you will see the marks.
      also the solution with the power cable is not my favorite (socket would be better in my opinion).
      The plugs on the rear side have a to different color compared to the board.
      It is a really really nice hand work ... really, but not perfect premeditated. sorry, Iam to german :(

    I plan on designing a pedalboard unit utilizing an old school wooden Coca~Cola case crate with an added latch cover. The latch cover won't only protect the units contained within the unit, it will also provide me with the opportunity to find a balance point for the entire unit so I can find where I need to place a carrying handle. In essence, it will kinda end up looking like a briefcase, but it will be showing the Coca~Cola logo.

    Re. Photocopy stencils.
    If you print onto glossy paper the toner will come away easier.
    Works so well you can print PCBs,
    Magazine paper is fine, doesn't matter what's printed on it, it's the gloss you're after.

    I was able to create the board, I like it. I like how his pedals are cleanly wired. I am interested in how this board is wired. I noticed the transformer is wrapped with electrical tape together with each pedal's DC wire. Is this a special wiring job? It looks like there was a modification to the transformer. If so where could I get this done? I like Lucky's board everything about it is clean and streamlined. Appreciate any recommendations you could give me. Thanx!

  • @joacorodriguez3420
    @joacorodriguez3420 7 років тому +30

    why don't you use the fence itself to set the width of the cut, instead of the tape? I'm I missing something?

    • @DIYModernTwins
      @DIYModernTwins  7 років тому +9

      The maple was binding and grabbing the blade because of the slight curve in the tight grain. This was my solution to a safer cut. I could have just shoved it into the blade, but when the wood starts to lift, it's time to rethink the cut.

    • @joacorodriguez3420
      @joacorodriguez3420 7 років тому +9

      you should put the fence closer to you, so the fence is used on the first half of the blade (the half that is spinning downwards). This way, the wood won't get grabbed between the rear half of blade and the fence, and flying to you

    I made my own pedal board by cutting a section of wooden skid/pallet with a hack saw, then I cut two pieces to raise the front from the scrap wood, pounded out four nails from the section of scrap I wasnt using to nail the blocks to raise the front. The I applied black tape all around it and tie strapped a power bar to it. I did this at work with only the tools and material available to me. Hence why I had to reuse the nails.

    Thanks for the video and plans. I'm not complaining, but some of the dimensions on the plans aren't correct as drawn. For example, the height of the rear piece is shown to be 3". The actual measure of the print is 2 7/8". I would advise re-drawing the plan using the given dimensions if you want to build this. I built one this week and it turned out nice. I made mine 24" long to accommodate a looper pedal and A/B switch. I'm subscribed to your channel and look forward to more woodworking stuff of a musical nature. thx.

    Hello, very interesting and instructive video. I want to become a pedalboard and I liked the design you did. I could say, what are the measures of the pedalboard? That these measures will vary depending on the number of pedals and other things, but my pedals are few (four) and the pedalboard is what I need. Look drawings on your page and not find them. Thanks, greetings from Cucuta-Colombia.
    P.S. Excuse my bad english.

      Hola Juan! I'm not sure what the exact measurements were, I don't have the pedalboard and I can't find my notes :-( But I think it was about 3" tall in the back, 1 1/2" tall in the front, about 8" deep, and about 17" wide. The best thing to do it lay out your pedals with at least 1" in between and add at least 1" to either end.
