You should check out a video called "Gripen and g-force", in cockpit with g-load meter flying a Gripen C demo, you can really hear how hard the pilot is working throughout the programme
Only plane than can fly twice the speed of sound, slow as 100 knots and start / land within 400 meters (without wires, brakechute etc). Main reason is the canards that goes vertical automatically when the nosewheel touches the ground.
Yes, it is made to use ordinary roads in the event an enemy has succeded in destroy all start and landing strips on dedicated airports. It does not need airports. Stop the traffic on a wide enough road and we have the start and landing strip. Cars with equipment needed for maintanance drive to the location and the work and refuel is quickly done. And the plane can take off to make its job againt the enemy. Only figther jets that are in the air are able to figth an enemy. Roads around the country are made with short sections that are usable for start and landing. They are made to be wide enough and to not have a middle section that divides the traffic, other than what is easy to put aside. In Sweden you see these sections in many places when driving on larger roads. I guess any country that use the JAS Gripen will modify their roads in the same way?
3:01 I was thinking the change from two wheels to one in the front landing gear would result in poorer braking, but nope. Looks like it got even better. The empty weight is about one tonne heavier than the C model, but it stopped so early that the pilot had to accelerate to pass in front of the crowd.
Taken me a long time to get used to this after Draken and Viggen but I think you might just have turned my head on that front Elwyn👍👍👍🤣🤣🤣 Superb shooting as usual.
I think the Swedes appear to have got something pretty good here - another member of the ''canards'' club! Maneuverability seems impressive. Super stills, particularly the take off one :)
Hi Elwyn. Brilliant work as always. I got the sense that the Gripen is very agile. Using less of the display box and turning tighter than other jets of the same generation. Do you have a view?
I think for most modern figther jets it comes down to what the pilot can handle in g-forces. The planes can do turns that are more than the pilot would be handle and therefor they are controlled by the computers to not exceed a certain limit. It is important to keep the pilot awake at all times. With this said, the JAS Gripen are as agile as it gets and its rather small size is to its advantage. The oldest generation fighter jets were more about speed. Modern figther jets are able to make u-turns one could say. But in a real war situation, the weapons typically are fired beyond visual range.
What a beautiful fighter jet like an arrow in the sky fast agile hope the Philippine Government inked the contract soon between Saab and our Department of National Defense and to see this flying in the Philippine Sky soon!♥️

What do you think of the SAAB Gripen E ?
Yabut, as Electric, why is it so loud?
the best
She's a beauty 😍
Looks like a lot of fun to fly
I feel it need a bigger motor, say a GE F110? Better thrust to weight ratio and able to carry heavier load.
Amazing aircraft! The pilot must have been working so hard especially in those tight turns. Brilliant footage!😊

Im glad my country choose gripen even though its the c/d versions its the best fighter for our budget 🇵🇭
Terrific centering of the jet in the frame...well done! Incredible how fast that plane slows down during landing.
Cheers ☺️

Improved modern brakes. :)
Always loved the look of the Saabs.. Cant wait for thrust vectoring version.
Since the canard wings are also controls, does thrust vectoring help?
It's already software limited from 14G to 9G. Pilots can't handle more than 9G...
@@-NiEr Actually, acording to André Brännström they have the abillity to push the stick beond the normal stop and get 12G for a short while.
Great plane....and I think it will be seeing some action soon, unfortunately. Great footage Elwyn!
WOW, incredible turns. It would be nice if we had something like this here in Australia. Elwyn, thank you for your amazing work

It seems very fast and turns direction quickly but a small jet ! A lot cheaper than the 5th gen aircraft

GRIPEN means the ”Catcher”! It can catch anything flying in the air. Invisible hands reach out to perform destruction. Proud to be a Swede🇸🇪!!
No it doesnt. It means griphon. Its a mythological being.
@@mattiasbylund9220 How could I be so wrong? Thanks for correcting me!
@@VajradamstraIt means ”catched” too, even ”arrested”, but in this case it is the mythological Griphon that is the right translation.

The best lightweight fighter jet
Thay got a new one. And one crazy thing😢
Would this be considered like a generation 4.8 or 4.9 aircraft?
The Gripen E with on-the-fly upgradeable computers, is what others are trying to get into their so-called gen6.
The whole gen labeling is flaw and based on the stealth by design concept.
Gripen E has stealth by tech, which is arguably the better stealth.🤷♂️
Thanks! Perfect!
Gripen for Czech Republic!
lovely aircraft - the RAF could do a lot worse than buy some .
