  • About how protein from meat is important to human body. Also about the entire meat process - from livestock ranchers to transportation to stockyards to meatpacking to your grocery store. Missing the slaughterhouse. then we see a butcher explaining about how to get four meals out of one shank of ham. "Full and complete" story of meat from the ranches and farms of America to the dinner table. Stresses importance of protein to human growth. Travels across the land to show a cycle of mealtimes from East to West. Raphael G. Wolff: "We felt that This Is Life was essentially the story of you - and how powerful substances came out of the earth to enter your own blood stream - to become your own ideas, actions and activities...It incorporates the relation of blizzards in Colorado to the steak you may order in a restaurant; the relation of nails driven in the roof of a hog shelter to the ham slice whose sizzling song heralds another day in your life."

I like this type of film. From a time that was family oriented and great entertainment. A time when people dressed up to go to the market, men wore ties, hats and suits, women wore dresses and hats. Hair was styled and neat. Kids respected their elders. The sad part of getting older is watching the digression over the years.

@@atm1919 Yes, educational about FOOD, not a million other subjects. They also didn't mention haircuts, elections, pottery throwing, etc, so why bring up other subjects that isn't germane to the point of the film? Doing so would be ridiculous.

During the 1930's my dads cousin, was hired to ride to St. Louis Missouri on the railroad to tend to hogs being shipped by Chapman Dewey Lumber Company from North East Arkansas. Until after 1970 when it finally fell silent an area within about a 120 mile radius of West Plains Missouri was the Feeder pig production capital of the United States
FOR THOSE of you that dont know what a feeder pig is it's a young pig 60 to 70 lbs in weight that is sold to another farm or feed lot to be fed till Market weight of 220 to 240 lbs..

I always wanted to live in town, I thought the town kids had it made. Once you get older you realize how blessed you were to be able to grow up on a farm. As I look back, I was the richest kid in the world growing up on my childhood farm. The kids today are falling away from Jesus and they will never know what real riches are.

I found this video very informative and interesting to learn how the meat processors work on long conveyors trimming and cutting the meat for retail market. I grew up on a small farm so I knew most of this story but most Americans have no idea of all the steps involved in bringing food to the market. Our population has doubled since the 1950s a lot more mouths to feed they produce food very efficiently to achieve this.

I eat a meat based diet and although I'm turning 50 this year I feel 25. Stronger every year. I dunno, it works for me. No fruit, veggies, juices, candies, or packaged snacks. Just drink water, whole milk, coffee, green tea. Food is beef and pork, eggs, butter, cheese. I work outdoors all year round, farming and logging with horses, and can go all day on just a good protein breakfast and a litre of water. Simple to cook too. Quite economical as I buy my beef by the whole or side from a friend with Angus. No retail markup and I get all the organs and soup bones.

They should have then compared meat with SEA MOSS/IRISH MOSS which contains 92% of the nutrients our bodies need. Im betting thats 10x better than ANY meat, especially the toxic meats we produce these days.... and its texture can be changed/flavored and made into many different meals.

This is what's known as industry backed education. That's why so many are so deeply entrenched in the meat mentality. All that protein in the meat comes from plants. It just takes a lot more to make 1 gram of protein 11 to 1.

The American Meat Institute, who sponsored this film, is still in business- and still has their offices In Washington, D.C. It's known these days as the North American Meat Institute (following its merger with the North American Meat Association in 2015).
