Better than takeout, Tofu and Broccoli Stir Fry (西兰花炒豆腐泡)

  • Hello there. Good to see you in the ingredient channel where I share easy to follow homemade Chinese Recipes every week. Today we are going to make a delicious vegetarian dish, Tofu and Broccoli Stir Fry. Like many stir fry recipes, the steps are rather simple. However, with the traditional way of cooking, the frying of the tofu could be a little tricky. With my favorite gadget in the kitchen, the Air Fryer, the recipe becomes almost effortless.
    Ingredients
    • Firm Tofu (1/2 box)
    • Broccoli (1 ½ cups)
    • Salt (~ 3 tsp)
    • Garlic powder (1.5 tsp)
    • Cooking wine (1 tbsp)
    • Red chili pepper (2 small)
    • Garlic (3-4 cloves)
    • Scallion (1/2 bulb)
    • Dark Rice Vinegar (1 tsp)
    • Cooking oil (1 tsp + 3tbsp)
    • Starch (1 tsp)
    • Oyster Sauce or Mushroom Sauce (1 tsp)

    What is cooking wine? Examples? Please give air frier alternatives. Thanks❤

      Hi @Pattymelt415, Shaoxing cooking wine is the wine I use. It is a traditional Chinese wine, fermented from rice, which adds an unique flavor and fragrance to dishes. Amazon has it if it is hard for you to find in stores. In terms of alternatives, red wine could be but it makes a slightly different taste.

    What is the difference between dark and light rice vinegar? I have light rice vinegar in my kitchen. Can I use that?

      Comparing to normal rice vinegar, the dark ones have a stronger and complex flavor. However, any rice vinegar works for the recipe. Enjoy!

      @@TheIngredient I made this the other day with a delicious recipe for mushroom sauce and served over basmati rice. I was so in love with the blending of delectable flavors! Yummy- this one is definitely a keeper! 😍

    Too much salt. Otherwise great recipe. Thanks
