  • Salvores have succeeded in open a portion of the Key Bridge Channel enough to allow ships to pass. The first such ship was the M/V Balsa 94 departing Baltimore Harbor. The Salvors are ahead of schedule as this limited use passageway wasn't expected to be open until the end of April.

Andy please. Indulge in An Old Man’s eulogy for the Key Bridge:
“Living north of Baltimore in Towson, it was a pleasant drive around the beltway to cross the Patapsco River on the Key Bridge.
The view West was spectacular as the entire Harbor and Downtown were a panoramic sight to behold. The view East was of the Chesapeake Bay and the bucolic living on the Eastern Shore.
Some days we’d cross it TWICE: Over and Back after lunch up on Rock Creek.
I will miss that Bridge that I traversed both OVER and UNDER during the entire 47 years of its existence.
At my age I hope to live long enough to ride over whatever bridge replaces this graceful Baltimore icon.

Somehow think they found them but the information wasn't released to the public. Like with the 4th person, when they withheld the news for several days. I cannot imagine them using dredging machinery and opening a shipping channel on a location where they would have to assume there are still bodies in the water (new channel is exactly where the construction vehicles dropped in the water according the the video of the collapse)

4 weeks and 2 days after collapse. Or 1 day shy of 1 month.
Is it fully opened-no. But it is opened.
I said when everyone was saying months that the port would be closed down, that it would be weeks-actually fewer than I figured. When they said end of April, I really did not believe they would make that deadline.

The current information in MSIB 043-24 Update 1 says that vessels greater than 60000 long tons of displacement will likely not be allowed to transit, and I imagine the cruise ships are more than that. But they’re updating the guidelines all the time, and I bet if they move the Dali in the first part of May a lot of those restrictions will go away with it.

Day 31. Still not one factual honest answer to how/why this preventable incident was allowed to happen.
1.) Who greenlighted the Dali as seaworthy when it's electrical problems were not resolved while docked?
2.) The Dali summoned escort tugboats while in the channel however they pulled away from her sides before reaching open sea. Why?
3.) Coincidentally the Dali lost all power moments after the tugs disembarked from the Dali. Main power failed, backup power failed then finally the emergency power failed as well. Why?
    4. ) whoeved was in command decided to drop anchor causing the ship to veer starboard. Why?
5.) Someone alerted Mayday distress. Bridge was almost cleared except for the 8 innocent worker's still on the bridge. 2 survived but 6 innocent lives were needlessly lost. Why?

    • @MinorcanMullet
      @MinorcanMullet  Місяць тому

I think that I will be looking at the investigation reports when the reports are released just as many others will be. Hopefully light is shed on this event and brings understanding. I will say ships loose power often. Unfortunately this event had catastrophic consequences and the loss of life.

@@MinorcanMullet all I know for certain is if I was the driver/ operator of a car, truck, bus or boat and negligently caused a collision which in turn caused a bridge to collapse in the water I know I wouldn't be sleeping comfortably in my own bed after it happened. I have positive I wouldn't wake up in the morning watching the prez assuring all Americans that ' he's got there backs' because he's going to make sure this is cleaned up ASAP.a d the repair/rebuild/ replace will happen ASAP!
No, I think the police or coast guard will have their answers before daybreak and I'd probably be incarcerated until bond or trial with multiple criminal citations including the reckless taking of 6 innocent people lives who happened to be on the bridge at the time of impact.
How is this different? Because someone was operating a bigger boat than I ?
Was this other operator in compliance with all federal laws and mandatory safety regulations? Was protocol followed?
31 days and we don't even know who was operating this huge vessel or who in the world greenlighted the Dali to ever leave dock without it's electrical problems resolved?
I just don't get two tier judicial system. Why?
