- There are new developments, eight weeks after Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed. Now that the Dali cargo ship has been moved, crews have been able to open up a 400-foot wide and 50-foot deep part of the shipping channel to restore 24-hour access to the port. The Dali's next destination is Hampton Roads. Angelique Arintok is in studio to explain why the ship will dock here.

Do news people know how to properly write a headline? The one here says the ship "heads" to Norfolk. Present tense. But the story itself says that it WILL head to Norfolk some time in the future.
@oldguydoesstuff120 You don't seriously expect the news media to be literate do you, my brother? Why the worst "journalists" end up reporting news has long been a mystery to me. Complete clown act; their job is to sell advertising, not tell the truth, or heaven forbid, create something easy to listen to or read.
Came here to say the same!
It worked . You're here .
They could have used the present simple or present continuous tense here with a modifier (e.g. 'the ship heads to Norfolk in 5 weeks' or 'the ship is heading to Norfolk in 5 weeks'), but the use of the present simple without the modifier is misleading, as it implies the action is actually happening right now.
@@neilreid9005 I'm an old guy. I remember when journalists actually knew how to compose a sentence on their own. Heck, in high school I had English teachers make us read newspapers to find examples of some bit of grammar. This headline would never have made it past an editor back then.
What about the stolen vehicle in the container? Are they gonna take all the containers off and go through them one at a time to see what else is being shipped out of our country illegally?
Guns, drugs, stolen items of value. You name it and its on that ship somewhere.
Click Bait headline!! Dali NOT going to Norfolk now. It will be another 5 to 6 weeks. Get your facts straight 13.
We all know the bridge has collapsed 8 weeks ago but the boat is sailing again
@@dillonwood3096 it’s been 8 weeks until it was moved to dock. It will still be in Baltimore for 4-6 additional weeks to remove the rest of the debris. Clickbait title is a lie.
The ship isn’t headed to Norfolk yet. I drove past it yesterday, and it’s still docked at the Port of Baltimore. It will eventually go to Norfolk, but it hasn’t left yet.
FYI, the outages that happened 10 hours before the crash was because a crew member closed an exhaust damper. However, the NTSB reported the power outages that caused teh crash was from key circuit breakers tripping. 2 entirely unrelated events like running out of gas in your car and your alternator going bad.
this is all on the captain who should have been arrested and charged its his fault
@@lutomson3496 right like you know if and when a circuit breaker in your house or car will trip.
My starter and fuel pump went out at same time once
But my car doesn't float.
@@lutomson3496 While they were docked the crew member closed the exhaust port. There was a dock worker that talked about the issues they had due that mishap. Before they got underway they switched to another set of breakers, probably thinking the ones they had been using may have suffered some damage. It was that alternate set of breakers that tripped. You should watch esysman, Timbatsea, whattheship, jeffostroff, and minorcanmullet. All good channels that give good information. Also, incomplete or inaccurate information sometimes gets put out in breaking stories like this, so you have to keep checking back to see if there are updates.
Looks like I'm never going to get my imported French salad tongs I ordered from Amazon.
where TF is Norfik? 1:31
How many other stolen items are on board? Or is Sri Lanka only interested in stolen cars.
The cargo will be loaded onto another carrier for delivery. Of course the damaged items will be handled as needed. Salvage workers are not customs officials. Most likely there are illegal goods in some of the containers. There is a chance some will be intercepted by customs when they are delivered.
I wish the governor would quit trying to be so dramatic - it's annoying. Just talk. He doesn't need to give a speech every time he goes before the camera. And the podium is ridiculous. Just stand there and talk to the TV crews like anybody else. Thank you.
Totally agree... Standing there with the podium and flanked, so officially, by four others, in my opinion looks absolutely ridiculous,.....
What is happening to the containers?
they will be off loaded there in baltimore.
Every container should be checked.
They will be put in a shelter, hopefully to be adopted by some deserving, loving families.
General Average - the shippers have to share in the cost of recovery - just as the shipper- no pay, no get cargo. much of the cargo will be held-up until the point of being worthless - the rest will be sold for pennies on the dollar by the courts (or stolen by organized crime in the meantime)...
@@__hjg__2123 "sold for pennies on the dollar by courts (or stolen by organized crime.....etc.) You're repeating yourself.
Politicians are a joke.
Like you could do better? Please....
Norfolk don't want nothing to do with that.
The Dali was not seaworthy when she was christened.
It can't be fixed. It's in the process of being stripped out.
I guess the decision to do that work resulted from the
expectation that it would become a target ship on the way
like the balloon was blown to smitherens. I hope the
Chesapeake Bay Foundation looking into the next
best place for a fishing reef.
It's not Norfick It's Nawfek
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT IS IN THOSE CONTAINERS?
Why is it that these officials are unable to make a statement without a gang of people standing alongside for moral support? I have had bosses who would look at me and ask if I did not have work to get on with.
That Governor loves the camera and spotlight…..
Iwas under the impression that she was going to be unloaded before being moved ??
Shippers are routing and re-routing vessels to handle the Far East overflow/ consignments.
*ironically some of these ships are larger than MV DALI.
ref: Lloyds Register. They drag bottom at 50', which is a common occurrence worldwide.
No one is talking about the stolen cars, inquiring minds would like to know!
100 percent. Heads would roll. Could be the start of doing things in a legal fashion. Sorry, what was I thinking.
Pretty sure my package is on that ship 😂
The gun-toting line-up for the Governor's announcement really cracked me up. Are things so bad in the US that in a non-threatening situation such as this that... [Continued on Page 94]
He thinks that he is projecting authority .
@@stewatparkpark2933 Perhaps trying to bolster his self-perceived shaky legitimacy at the same time? Either way it looks like weakness to me. I am fascinated how seemingly the local-yokel is in ascendance -or is it just that the opportunity for self-exposure is greater nowadays?
I believe the man is running for office. He always has a line-up of "very important people" flanking him on both sides, and he always has syrupy platitudes, and he is always very dramatically giving a speech. He doesn't need that stupid podium either. All very theatrical, very formal, very absurd. He reminds me of the actions of Douglas MacArthur....always a parade.
Key Bridge
The ship is finally set sailing after removing all the pieces from that collapse and now it’s gonna have years and years and years to rebuild the new Baltimore bridge but pretty sooner rather saying prices are never coming downhill the gas price food prices and everything else will have to come down even more lower
Why is the boat an issue? It’s not the victim and should be an insurance issue. The bridge is importance.
It’s was stuck and is blocking the port where imports and exports come in, and there’s a back log of ships wanting to enter the port but can’t
So the Dali gets repairs without its cargo being unloaded to another ship but the key bridge gets no repairs. The same boat which is considered totaled is being repaired to be given back to its foreign owners.
1:14 *Who the heck is that O-2 USCG officer?! Why the heck couldn't the "coast guard" provide an officer with scrambled eggs (i.e. a senior officer) on their cap for this press conference?! I guess they were elbows deep in hookers and blow. How do I know? -Former CPO uscg...*
Remember this wreck's location is only several miles away from uscg headquarters... swarming with senior officers will all kinds of professional suffixes...
I had a professional suffix they desperately needed and was forced out due to politics at said location. Still working on that illegal termination.
1:20 ... yeah, google Pava Lapere.
Hope they sort the electrical problems first?
There have been some very qualified investigators as well as reps from the equipment manufacturer looking at things trying to determine what caused the failure.
Totally inaccurate report, the ship has to be uploaded first in the container terminal then moved to where the rest of the bridge can be removed and then moved again to a suitable dockyard for assessment and then repaired.
How close is Norfold to Baltimore, and is the Dali sailing to Norfolk in a damaged state?
READ THE TITLE.
150 nm. Yes they will clean it and patch any loose items. The shipyard in Norfolk would do the final repairs. Not uncommon for a damage ship sail to a port that can handle big repairs.
Dali, not Dolly
The ship that destroyed the bridge. Future ship movements thru the area will be at a low speed, anchors set to deploy on power failure, tugboats guiding
They just really need to scrap that vessel
If Baltimore goes ahead to rebuild a bridge is insane. It shouldn't of been built in the first place. should of had a tunnel instead. Looks so much cleaner visually without the bridge now. Yet they want to limit themselves once again and pollute the visual sight. real shame.
They need a bridge for hazmats and over sized loads to be brought in and out of the city.
Do you realize how expensive and time consuming tunneling under a body of water is? The bridge is the best option. It's the architect job to make it visually pleasing so hopefully they choose wisely there.
Besides there is a tunnel 4 to 6 km up the harbour.
Budget Flattop
That piece of roadway should be removed and should be preserved and go to a muaeum.
It will be scrapped the whole ship 🚢😮
Wth do government officials know about ship repair? Talk to somebody with shipyard experience - the governor knows nothing.
"Norfick" ????
I would not waste my time and money on a stupid cruise
So tax payers are paying to fix a Singapore ship called Dali that took out the bridge. Why doesn't Singapore come fix it's ship or pay for it's fixing
So sick of the blabber mouth governor.
Shame that you would even talk about cruisers. Remember the fallen
Subtitles repeatedly call the ship the "Dolly." Isn't anyone paying attention to these sorts of egregious errors? Or is this an example of the mindlessness of artificial intelligence.
That's AI for you.
Doesn’t require AI. This’d probably be how it would’ve appeared 15 years ago. There would have been a person that types phonetically on a stenographer’s keyboard, and a computer automatically translates that into English. Since Dali and Dolly sound pretty much the same the computer is going to go with Dolly, especially since that is an actual word and not a proper noun.
The COVERUP Has STARTED
Give it a few more weeks and no one will even remember the ship.
The Maryland Governor is the worst provider of useful information. This is my own opinion.
and the captain still has not been arrested for his lack of control...
Momentum did it .
So arrest Newton !!!

Informative but I've could've done without the talkin stuffed shirts.
