Many of the larger channels tend to just be infomercials now my opinion. Just a commercial. And when they test, it’s the same old damn testing over and over. At the end of the day, I’m a firm believer in the saying ‘show, don’t tell’, show the blade in use, in a wide array of testing methods, focus on what chores are it’s strengths then try other chores that may be getting it a bit out of its comfort zone, without outright abuse. Keep on, keeping on brother.
Yeah I think there is just a loss of passion out there maybe because its the "day job" now for those massive channels. I mean kudos to them getting that far. But is is also unfortunate to see these "reviews" done either very quickly or sort of a "take my word for it that its good" kind of deal. It’s a different philosophy. For example: I do hard use on some of my knives, but other knives not so much. I watch reviews for both knowing what kind of paces I’ll put it through. If you want to baton some more expensive folders I will gladly watch.

Justin, mate, I def know yours and my channels def use the product and u are so correct here; there are literally dozens of big namers, supposedly reviewing stuff and strangely they don't leave a desk or garage or backyard or even sometimes what appears as bedroom LOL. All I can add here is that whenI want to buy a car, I make it my business to only watch channels where they drive it like they stole it and only visit shops where I can actually drive it, before buying it LOL. It takes a lot of effort to make such videos as we make and for sure, I reckon many would call us stupid from a business standpoint because it is just really diff to churn them out when you have to demo them in the field but for me (I'm sure it is the same for you) there is no point (no pun intended) in simply showing the object. I can look at it ia shop or internet. I want to see it being used as intended.

I certainly try my best to perform the tests I think that people would need to see to make sure this is the knife for them. And I do see a lot of those big names just sort of playing with the tools in the basement not getting a scratch on the the product. Like you said might as well just read Amazon reviews at that point! Makes sense to me. I am not as tough on my knives as you are so I feel confident that if I ever purchase a knife you review it should last forever barring QC failure! Ever thought about doing the Cold Steel Recon Tanto in SK5 steel? I will likely be buying one shortly to compliment my old Carbon V version (which I can no longer bring myself to use).

Oh where Oh where have the smaller prepper/survival channels have gone, Oh where Oh where can they be?, lol Talk about 10 years and small, I can definitely relate and testify. No problem, I follow a few, you for example, is what got me into UA-cam channel developer/influencer or whatever label anyone likes to put on it. I prefer and enjoy, real people, doing their own thing and giving their opinion. I have no issues with bigger channels but tend to unsub them after a while as they tend to repeat and copy each other, or the obvious ass kissing of their sponsors. Mind you nothing wrong with monetizing, or using this as a platform for other income sources. Just keep it honest and in tune to your following. Loyalty, in the long run, is better for business and personal relationships.

Also heads up for these guys who get free knives from the companies...yeah they might say they are not bias but yeah right...they are not about to bit the hand that feeds them "gives them free products"! Once I hear that the product was given to them I skip that video...keep up the good work I like your videos and are the first on my list!
Well hey thats me but most of the time I get a "free" knife it looks like the junkyard dog got ahold of it by the time I am done LOL! I really try to keep things objective but I agree its very difficult. I will say for example the Halfbreed Blades I've been reviewing as of late they really are great no BS there!!! I disagree.. Reviewers dont get "free" products they are given for a fair review, which many folks dont realize is NOT free at all. The amount of stuff reviewers do behind the scene for these companies goes far beyond a "free" product.Making some vids takes a lot of work that is why I like Gideons Tactical he uses his knives. Being a reviewer you have to deal with questions years after reviewing their products. That said a good reviewer is a person that does answer folks ...well the best they can we all got lives.😉 Dont get me wrong I understand your perspective and respect your opinion but after doing reviews for 5+ years its definitely not free. I dont do knife reviews but, I do know what its like getting products to review and it can become a job that ya dont get paid for. I've had to deal with harassment which is normal crap to be expected online BUT having a stalker show up changed everything for me.I I dont think many reviewers set out to deceive people but some end up overwhelmed with products even becoming addicted I've seen this happen to people. As for knives ...its a tool and you would think a good review would be from using it and thats a fair question and expectation. Really it comes down to what its all about ...YOU-TUBE ...Its a channel if ya dont like it or think they are not using the tool then YOU or I can turn it off and unsubscribe. Nobody uses as hard as you do. Batoning sometimes, no more. If I can only choose one knife, then your channel shows how good it really is. Most non-prepper channels are aesthetics.
