I'm glad to hear that you are going to continue to be true to yourself and your own style. I really enjoy your podcasts and hope you never feel any pressure from us or the algorithm to change your podcast !
Happy 1 year on youtube!!! I started watching your videos when you only had 3 out and I remember thinking that I would definitely love the videos to come. I was correct and I love following your knitting journey!
I also knit faster when I'm getting low on yarn. My Ravelry queue is also only for projects I have yarn for and I know I'm going to make. Happy one year anniversary! 🎉
Your Zipper sweater looks amazing. I totally relate to knitting faster when playing yarn chicken. There is a feeling of not being in control when I am unsure if i have enough yarn, so I definitely rush to get to a place where at least I know what I am dealing with - that just the knowledge will help with the anxious, slightly out-of-control feelings. I also use scales and stitch markers to help give me confidence and feel more relaxed for the rest of a project if i am running short of yarn. Thanks for showing the double knitting on twisted rib. I have wondered about how this would work and so havent done an italian bind off on twisted rib for this reason. Good to know that the italian bind off works just fine but best if you leave off the double knitting rows.
I LOVE Lala Land!! I don’t hear many people bring it up anymore, so I was shocked to hear it’s one of your favorites, but my goodness I absolutely love it. One of the few movies I physically own
Loved your candor and honesty about all things budget and podcast related !! Super interesting to hear, and in a way, a bit reassuring to know that you also forget things you want to say ! I totally resonated with the last question about still being very much into this hobby for myself, and not for the channel, as I don't rely on the income, so I am grateful I am still able to prioritise the knits that make me happy !
I really enjoyed this episode. I have to say I appreciate you taking time out of your day/life to share your knitting journey. No expectations will take what you give, something is always better than nothing. Congratulations on your 1yr. Anniversary 🎉
I always enjoy your videos a lot and love all the yarn and colors you have picked up while in the EU. I love filcolana and yes it’s so hard to get here. I’m so glad to hear that the fabric it created for your zipper sweater is lovely because even more so I’m excited to use it. I have a few projects that call for filcolana Peruvian wool and I can’t wait to use it. Also 🙌 to La La Land ❤ it’s one of my all time favorite and totally agree with the social network such a great movie as well. Haha as far as the book you recommended I’ve heard great things about it but not my genre at all. I will not be able to sleep 😂 I love historical fiction and rom com books. Your zipper sweater is so beautiful. Thank you for the other videos of the different shops you’ve visited.
It's amazing how you learned knitting in middle school! Throughout middle and high school, my hobbies were playing games on my handheld consoles and reading manga 😆I'm more of a crocheter than a knitter, but I enjoyed watching your podcast. I learned both knitting and crocheting in my 20's as a way to combat anxiety.
Ugh I remember also playing yarn chicken on my zipper sweater.-- and there was no US supplier of Filcolana when I finally got around to knitting it. I ended up using a similar color of a totally different brand of yarn to do the zipper facing.
Lol my first hand-dyed skein was Malabrigo, too, in 2018, and I still have half of it unused, because there hasn't been a colourful project which would be worth using the beautiful 50 g 😅 The first half of it went to a shawl/scarf that I still use daily (excluding summer).
Omg I loveee the way your Zipper Sweater worked up!! Definitely inspires me to try to get my hands on some Filcolana. Thank you for sharing and happy anniversary!
Congrats on your 1 year anniversary! I remember watching your first video. Still love all your content. Thank you for continuing to be true to you and being genuine with your content and makes. Safe travels home!
Congratulations on your anniversary! You are my most favourite knitter for sure, I love your style and inspiration and the videos are always great quality ❤
Congratulations on 1 year of your channel! Enjoyed this episode and an now extremely convinced that my next sweater quantity purchase from Wollen Berlin must be the Ficolana peruvian highland wool and tilia. Your zipper sweater is luscious… it looks so soft and elegant and cozy and somehow decadent - maybe its the depth of color? Will be happy to see it all zipped up soon! Have a nice rest of your trip!
Thank you for sharing your finished beanies. I just finished the Ammil to gift to my daughter for Christmas. Question for you. Do you block your knitted hats? I was considering a spray block but that may not be needed. Love your podcast!
Congrats on one year! I think you have the right approach to doing what gives you joy and then you'll attract the followers who have similar interests, rather than feeling any pressure to force yourself out of your comfort zone (unless you are feeling in a rut and WANT to try something different. One quick point on the VAT refunds, having done that myself when traveling this summer. Generally speaking, it's really only worth it if you have a large purchase. To get your refund, you have to show your goods at the airport to the customs officials for a stamp and then either stand in a second (or more) line(s) for your refund from the service company the store uses, or mail in your form. Multiple purchases might mean multiple service companies and lines to wait in. The service companies can take a fairly significant fee, I traveled back to the US in early August and am still waiting on a refund through Planet, who seems to be notoriously slow and was going to take a very large fee if I wanted an immediate refund at the airport. Global Blue was much better and provided an immediate refund, but I still had to wait in two lines, with my goods in my carryon baggage. Not a lot of fun.
I was looking for a pattern for some petite wool I have lying around and want to use for a gift knit so perfect timing to see this episode. I like that Ammil beanie and hadn’t come across it.
Thank you for talking about the prices of the yarn you purchased! I'd be really curious to know how the prices compare when you go to Norway, especially for the ficolana, kfo and sandnes garn! I am going to Copenhagen in late November and I know it's not the same as Norway, but I'm like you in that I want to take advantage of opportunity and see if there's something that would be a lot cheaper to buy there! I also use my ravelry the exact way you do and I am knitting a zipper sweater right now too!
Love the oversized sweater! You made good choices in your game of yarn chicken. Did you send your new yarn home with your husband so you would have more room in your suitcase when you leave in 2 weeks? - just got to that spot in video- good husband!!💜 definitely try to get Vat back if possible!
Congratulations on a successful year on UA-cam! So glad I found your channel. I love your aesthetic and I’m from MA too, which is totally irrelevant, but makes me happy.😂
Your zipper sweater looks stunning! I adore the subtle colour changes from afar and near. If I'm going to make one myself, your colour choice is high up on my wishlist. Same for your Monday Sweater, your colour choices really do inspire me 😅 Like you said for the Pernilla with 175m/50g which is listed as a DK but feels rather like a Sport, I find the Peruvian with 100m/50g feels rather like a DK than a Worsted/Aran, my LYS lists it as a DK as well. Wondering if Ravelry has some of the Filcolana yarns listed "incorrectly" (it's a range as always), idk if Filcolana themselves has any info on this. 🧶
When you use a different yarn weight on a specific pattern, do you still follow the gauge from the pattern or you have to do your own gauge calculation?
You'd have to calculate your own gauge to select the correct size to make - KnitCalifornia has a great video on that if you need help with it! ua-cam.com/video/Tlk3kyNif3Q/v-deo.html
I use both magic loop and small-circumference needles! More often magic loop because I don't own many small-circumference needles. You'll never catch me using DPNs, they're my least favorite 😂
When you say you bought. Sweaters quantity without a pattern in mind, how did you know how much? Is it based on experience? Do you look up a possible pattern to get an idea? Just curious! Hoping to learn how best to go about this before doing some souvenir yarn shopping. 😊
I leave a long yarn tail when picking up for sleeves and later use that long tail to sew up the holes closed from the inside. I have also picked up extra stitches and immediately decrease them out on the first sleeve round if I think the pattern didn't have enough stitches to fill the space well.
It's however much yarn I need to make a sweater for myself! I'm usually the 1st or 2nd size in patterns so usually 1200m of DK is a sufficient sweater quantity for me.
Hey Amy! I recently moved back to boston and I'm wondering where you get your yarn- when i google 'yarn stores' all there is are michael's and hobby lobby and I am spoiled and cannot live like this😤 pls send help
Well, greetings from Kraków, Poland, Amy! 😊😊❤ I hope you will have a great, though, probably, a busy time in the country 🥰 If you would like to know where to find some interesting craft/yarn shops in some cities in Poland, let me know and I will try to help and send you some links/locations :)
I'm glad to hear that you are going to continue to be true to yourself and your own style. I really enjoy your podcasts and hope you never feel any pressure from us or the algorithm to change your podcast !
i love waking up to a new ne knits podcast ep!
Happy 1 year on youtube!!! I started watching your videos when you only had 3 out and I remember thinking that I would definitely love the videos to come. I was correct and I love following your knitting journey!

So cool to hear you use the Ravelry queue the same way I do!

I would watch your videos regardless of what you knit because you present so well!
I LOVE Lala Land!! I don’t hear many people bring it up anymore, so I was shocked to hear it’s one of your favorites, but my goodness I absolutely love it. One of the few movies I physically own
Much happiness to you for the anniversary!
Wow, The Silent Patient 😇 I don't read a lot but did that one. It was so shocking at the end like no others. Enjoy your podcasts. 😊
I hope you had or has a Nice weekend here in Oslo. So much Nice yarn you shopping. 🤗👍
Greetings from polish knitter 🌼

happy podcast-iversary of course !
Thanks Vanissia!
Thanks so much for sharing 💙all the details on your sweater. Beautiful yarn acquisition 🧶
The Silent Patient was SO good. I still think about it often too!! I just finished Rock Paper Scissors and it was a good one.
Ooo I finished Rock Paper Scissors in 2 days just so I could find out the ending! That one also left me shocked!
I really enjoyed this episode. I have to say I appreciate you taking time out of your day/life to share your knitting journey. No expectations will take what you give, something is always better than nothing. Congratulations on your 1yr. Anniversary 🎉

Beautiful black sweater to enjoy in the upcoming cold months! Have good travels.😊

I really look forward to your videos. I think you do a wonderful job.

This is a terrific video, thank you. I enjoy hearing you discuss yarn and knitting and everyday life. Waving hello from 🇨🇦
Omg I loveee the way your Zipper Sweater worked up!! Definitely inspires me to try to get my hands on some Filcolana.
Thank you for sharing and happy anniversary!
Congrats on 1 year anniversary!! So enjoy all your content. Enjoy your travels and all the things that go with it!
Current favorite indie dyers are canon dye works and dandelion and dogwood! Just made a huge order for sock yarn from D&D😍😍🥰
Happy anniversary! I watch you because I like your knit contents & your personality. Keep on doing what you do so we’ll. ❤
Hi Amy! Thanks for another great episode. I saw that you had finished your zipper sweater on IG and it looks fabulous! 😍

Well, now I am “forced” to add the Zipper Sweater to my queue…🙄😉 Yours turned out so well!!!! Great inspiration!
I fell in love with all your new yarn 🥰
Congratulations on 1 year of your channel! Congrats on the podcast anniversary! I’ve been watching this year and am impressed with your abilities!
Congratulations on your year! You are amazing!
Congrats on your podcast anniversary! I really enjoy your choice of patterns and yarn selection :)
Thank you!
Thank you for your videos. I thoroughly enjoy each one. Congratulations on one year podcasting!
Thank you for sharing your finished beanies. I just finished the Ammil to gift to my daughter for Christmas. Question for you. Do you block your knitted hats? I was considering a spray block but that may not be needed. Love your podcast!
I usually don't block my hats! I find wearing the hat gets it into shape pretty well.
I like to use a dpn to do cables with :))

I think Nick has possibly earn the best supporting husband award 🥇🤣
Lovely sweater, it's really beautiful.
Wow congratulations on your one year UA-cam anniversary 🎉
I may have to re read The Silent Patient now. I read it a while ago and can’t really remember anything about it. I know I liked it though.

Love hearing from others from MA :)
Your zipper sweater looks stunning! I adore the subtle colour changes from afar and near. If I'm going to make one myself, your colour choice is high up on my wishlist. Same for your Monday Sweater, your colour choices really do inspire me 😅

What do you use for small circumference knitting? Magic loop? DPNs? Great projects!
I use both magic loop and small-circumference needles! More often magic loop because I don't own many small-circumference needles. You'll never catch me using DPNs, they're my least favorite 😂
what size did you knit the zipper sweater in e.g. (S,M,L). It looks absolutely stunning.
When you say you bought. Sweaters quantity without a pattern in mind, how did you know how much? Is it based on experience? Do you look up a possible pattern to get an idea? Just curious! Hoping to learn how best to go about this before doing some souvenir yarn shopping. 😊
I pick a few patterns I have in mind and check their yardage requirements for my size. That usually gives me a good number to shop for!
about that filcolana acquisition...have you seen the Eun sweater?
I have! I can see myself knitting it one day
Wyatt method do you use to minimise underarm holes when picking up for sleeves
I leave a long yarn tail when picking up for sleeves and later use that long tail to sew up the holes closed from the inside. I have also picked up extra stitches and immediately decrease them out on the first sleeve round if I think the pattern didn't have enough stitches to fill the space well.

Can you share what you consider “sweater quantity”?
It's however much yarn I need to make a sweater for myself! I'm usually the 1st or 2nd size in patterns so usually 1200m of DK is a sufficient sweater quantity for me.
Hey Amy! I recently moved back to boston and I'm wondering where you get your yarn- when i google 'yarn stores' all there is are michael's and hobby lobby and I am spoiled and cannot live like this😤 pls send help
I gotchu! greaterbostonyarncrawl.com/participating-shops/ has a great list of yarn shops near Boston! I've been to a lot of these and like them all!
Did blocking the zipper sweater loosen up the neckline much? I’m working on mine now and the collar is seeming veeerrrrryyyy tight lol
The collar definitely opened up after blocking!
Thanks for the great podcast ❤ I hate yarn chicken
What size are you knitting the zipper sweater?
I made the size S!
What's your full time job? :)
I'm an engineer!
