The 9 Satanic Statements Explained - LaVeyan Philosophy & Religion
Вставка
- Опубліковано 13 тра 2024
- Explore the Nine Satanic Statements from "The Satanic Bible" by Anton LaVey, a text that stands as a cornerstone of LaVeyan Satanism. We examine these statements, each presenting a bold contrast to traditional Christian values, and discuss their implications on moral and philosophical grounds.
We will dissect the significance of indulgence over abstinence, the preference for vital existence rather than spiritual aspirations, and the emphasis on seeking undefiled wisdom over self-deceit. The episode will also analyse the controversial standpoints on kindness, vengeance, and responsibility, all pivoting away from conventional religious teachings.
Key questions addressed in this episode include: What does LaVeyan Satanism say about human nature and the concept of sin? How does it redefine notions of kindness and justice? What commentary does it offer on human superiority and the role of Satan in Christian theology?

00:00 Introduction: The Nine Satanic Statements from LaVey’s Satanic Bible
00:35 1. Satan represents indulgence instead of abstinence!
01:04 2. Satan represents vital existence instead of spiritual pipe dreams!
01:30 3. Satan represents undefiled wisdom instead of hypocritical self-deceit!
01:55 4. Satan represents kindness to those who deserve it instead of love wasted on ingrates!
02:27 5. Satan represents vengeance instead of turning the other cheek!
02:53 6. Satan represents responsibility to the responsible instead of concern for psychic vampires!
03:23 7. Satan represents man as just another animal, sometimes better, more often worse...
03:58 8. Satan represents all of the so-called sins, as they all lead to ... gratification!
04:28 9. Satan has been the best friend the Church has ever had...

The nine Satanic statements just make sense. And honestly I think if you read them to most Christians, without telling them their source, they would probably agree.
If you mean they'd agree with the content without the context of Satan or it being Satanic, no. There are far too many contradictions to the Christian faith.
If you mean the complete statement including "Satan represents" they would only agree with a handful. Like indulgence.
@@epmcgee Obviously Im talking about the principles.
Depends on who you ask. As a heterodox Christian I may not be the best data point, but here's what I'd say:
The 9 statements are not 100% doctrinally sound for the Biblical Theologian. However, in a humanistic lense I see merit in some of it. In general, I think it is kind of a strawman of Christianity they're reacting against. And arguably in its own way Satanism is a reaction.
But yeah,
Fascinating topic
Critical thinking and empirical understanding
7 and 9 are straight up facts
👹like the kindness statement
I think most people offer kindness to those who deserve it whether they acknowledge the 9 or not XD
But it is amusing.
Thank you for the presentation of part of the masterpiece produced by Anton Szandor LaVey 😈😎👍
This video was very interesting. i love to learn about different belief systems. Thank you, Dr. Angela♥👼
Glad it was helpful!
This was an excellent video. I really appreciated! And truly respect you for how you explained each one of these statements. I thought they were very on point!
Glad it was helpful!
Very interesting and informative ❤ lovely analysis to say the least!
Sei fantastico e adoro i tuoi contenuti. Grazie mille dottor Puca
Thanks!
Splendid content as always! 😈
This video really helped clarify alot on this tradition, i hadn't seen it when you posted but im glad i ultimately did. I have always wondered of the nuances of this yet never delved..
Glad it was helpful!
😈Interesting and refreshing.
👹👹👹 Thank you!
😈🤘 cheers, Dr. Puca
Very interesting. I can now see where many people would take to the practice.. 🤔There's much that is practical and commonsince in nature. Except for the fact that it is a manifesto Against a doctrine I would find it acceptable.. [I am a Christian by faith! But I Too have come to Hate the Common ideology and mentally of what is called Christianity today..] There's only two of these Manifesto's that I would remove. If I would accept the overall concept. [Plus, of course; I don't go for the Satanic Concept that leads It!..] 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾Thank you for the insight and revelation.👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾😈
Modern Christianity is essentially trying to maintain the Church while avoiding the deceptions of churches.
I will note that LeVeyan Satanism is atheistic by design, drawing from authors like Nietzsche who famously "killed god". In terms of it being against Christianity, it's rather against religion as a whole (which is funny because it became one).
😈 Thanks for the video Dr. Puca. Very good exposition of the nine statements.
Hi Angela! Your Sensational.👿
How to join satanic
Great video!
I do think its important to note, though, that these are not tied to, and only go against, Christianity, but to all spiritual religions and collectivist ideologies.
almost all spiritual religions seem to have similar themes of carnal repression and altruism.
Also, for #9, it too has a wider meaning beyond Christianity. It's warning against the use of scapegoats and how anyone or any ideology claiming to be "good" needs to have something to call "bad", which also needs to remain, as if the "bad" went away, they wouldnt be able to frighten people into their "good" side
I've seen a lot of LeVeyan Satanic Rituals and it's like the entire speech is designed as a legal declaration to separate yourself with your connection with God. I guess if you're trying to completely disconnect from God then Satanism is definitely the path for you.
It's not for me tho.
Also Satanism was cofounded by Lt. Col. Michael Aquiano. he like, really, really loved children. and whenever legal issues arose from his passionate love of children, the charges just kinda...magically disappeared.
I don't want to associate myself with a religion created by a chimo
@sparklesparklesparkle6318 hey, im sorry to say but thats completely wrong. We don't believe in any gods. Ritual is a psychodrama to get rid of any pent up emotions that are holding you back. There is no 'legal declaration' or contract.
And Aquino joined the Church of Satan 3 years after Satanism had been created. He helped with the newsletter but did NOT co-found the religion at all.
Aquino's accusations came during The Satanic Panic, when many people had ridiculous accusations thrown against them. They didnt magically disappear, he was investigated and found innocent.
Idk where you're getting your info from, but its not really credible
Not all spiritual religions repress earthly desires. That's a narrow-sighted viewpoint. There are plenty of pagan religions that explicitly include overindulgence within their tenets/rituals.
What's oxymoronic about #9 is that the tenets themselves technically set a 'bad' against a 'good'.
@@sparklesparklesparkle6318 well, LeVeyan Satanism is an athiest organisation. Part of its ideologies draw from Nietzsche's work.
"I don't want to associate myself with a religion created by a chimo" since most modern churches have a direct heritage from the Catholic church, even being Christian doesn't remove you from this category.
@@epmcgee i did say "almost all"
This was sweet.
😈 I'd argue that #'s 3 6 7 & 9 are particularly salient to the current state of modern-day society
Food for thought.😈
thanks, Angela 😈
😈 I agree with @Mildon44, Christianity is not the only religion projecting those views and they (other belief systyems) should be included when citing hypocritical viewpionts. We nee to end all the brainwwashing. I do love Angela's Symposium!
A good analogy of these statements would be embracing classical physics while rejecting quantum mechanics. There is a realm that is spiritual and humanity is able to interact with it, and are bound to it in a way animals are not.
#1 from one extreme to the other. It would have been better to say fully understand your desires & the impact acting them out has on the world. Then be a responsible person & do the least harm to get a satisfactory level of desire met. Willy nilly is great for selfishness, which isn’t great for the species as a whole, given our evolution requires us to have a person choose to be obligated to our needs at birth. We are evolved to survive because we can choose to be obligated to other’s wellbeing as much as our own.
Yeah, this is one concept that seems to be optional for practitioners. Within Thelema, that held similar views to LeVeyan Satanism, Crowley tried to tie the concept of love to the practitioners will; but this can all too easily be perceived as someone's materialistic desire instead of a heartfelt care shared for other humans.
😈😃 Very interesting! I like more Milton's and Blake's Satan character, but LaVey's is ok.
I wonder, Dr. Angela, do you know Taylor Caldwell's "Dialogues with the Devil"? It's a nice novel.
I guess I will never know if esoteric/occult/spiritual ceremonies make room for fun or comedy, but who cares.
I will watch your video on Nietzsche and esotericism! 😃
I hope you keep digging further down into Lavey and Satanism. He had an utterly idiosyncratic worldview that was simultaneously arch-conservative *and* progressive, particularly when it came to sexuality and gender. In that regard the Satanic Witch is a fascinating read that would make a great video all its own.
Only if you follow up on Zeena Schreck's life and her opinions on her father.
Don't recommend her work, like you didn't know.
@@TwisterTornado and discuss LeVey's relationship to Lt. Col Michael Aquiano and touch on his countless accusations of SAing children.
So, in short, it's a mixture of Nietzsche, Rand, Sade and cirenaican hedonism.
I think the only notable source you didn't mention was Arthur Desmond.
@@epmcgee :
if you read the book, LaVey specifically mention Nietzsche, Rand and Epicurus as influences (and I agree, Sade would be a influence as well).
The only issue, is where as Rand advocade Rational Egoism as a highest Virtue, Nietzsche emphasize personal and continues development, as well as considered the Epicurian Hedonism as self serving asceticism (it makes me feel good, there it's the best way, something he rejects) and would strongly object to Sade's justification of cruelty and using man as just a means and tool to personal satisfaction, as well as view the emphasis on magic and spirituality of LaVey, as just another degeneration leading to Nihilism.
I noticed that LaVey was able to live a long life even though indulgence was suggested.
I like Dr. Angela Puca because of how often she goes into chaos magic and satanism. Just saying.
It is kind of funny, to learn about American traditions, from an expert on Italian witchcraft...
@@TwisterTornado if I remember correctly, she's done at least one on Italian witchcraft. Chaos magic can use anything, so, maybe she has to cover it because a bunch of people who are practicing chaotes use large amounts of Italian witchcraft...? Idk, spit balls and shot guns, horseshoes and hand grenades.
@@jeremiahlarkins618 Of course not. It's surely due to personal interest.
@@TwisterTornado I understand that, but personal interest is usually tampered by the interests of those who fund a person.
@@TwisterTornadoStregas are powerful women
Do not mock
I do love the statements, but I'm afraid that more recently some of them have begun to collapse more into a kind of collectivism as opposed to the individualism they were meant to describe originally. There's really this interesting tension in the Satanic community between rebellious individual will and what is being upheld as a kind of universal law at this point, obviously under the influence of capitalism. It gets to a certain point where if you happen to be too individualistic, you will be deemed under this "Satanic law" as a "social parasite." So, a lot of the understanding of Satanism is guided by preconceived notions of who and what comprises society and who needs to be respected. Satanism siding with law and order was something that existed from the start but never sat right with me, especially seen as a Satanist should he able to realise that legitimacy of force is a relative concept outside of practical consideration. This tension is something worth exploring I think, especially in combination with the discussion on who is the authority on Satanism! Is Satanism an envisioning of a new kind of collectivity and social consciousness, or is it up to the Satanist to decide for themselves who the "energy vampires" are, with all respect to the relativity that entails?
Satanism was co-founded by Lt. Col. Michael Aquiano who is unironically the inventer of the word Psy-Op. he also ******ed like 300+ kids and got away with it.
If you wanna associate with a religion literally founded by a CIA spook whose entire job and lifes passion was psychological manipulation, then idk what to tell you friend.
😈
I think this is an interesting set of precepts, but in most ways not particularly different than any other such statement. LaVey does deserve credit for phrasing most of them as a set of contrasts, though.
What I find funny is that when I used to teach World Religions, and all students had to choose a minority religion (not one of the big 10 or so, with some exceptions) and do a presentation on it, and nearly all of the students that chose LaVeyan Satanism all said, "And I can't really find anything to disagree with here," or "This actually sounds pretty good to me!" Most of those who did were not the students that chose that as their topic but then got scared and would ask a week or so later, "If I do this report, will I go to Hell?" Sadly, I had to have that conversation with students more times than I care to remember...and, even worse, I didn't have the conversation with some students along those lines about any number of religions and then they wrote about them from a creedal Christian viewpoint and condemned them wholesale (and we're talking things like Buddhism here!), thus totally ignoring the caveats in the syllabus, in the instructions for the assignments, and stated in class as well that "faith-based arguments are not valid for this course." Oh well. :(
Contrasts create a framing mechanism that can prime the reader into a specific viewpoint rather than relying wholly on the merits of the concept itself.
Do whatever you want y'all
and if Do As Thou Wilt ruins your life then you only have yourself to blame! : )
That said, I don’t think it should just be “anything goes.” There have also been abuse scandals involving Satanists, so that is not cool, not okay.
Hail Satan!Thank you, Angela!
Nothing wrong with these statements. 😈 💫
I've said it before, but I'll say it again, I'm not a sorceror, I'm not a witch, a wizard...etc. I'm not a Satanist, nor any brand of Luciferian, Heathen, or Pagan. But I enjoy Dr Angela's content as I research these topics for my own spiritual edification.
You would probably call me a Christian, but if you meant modern western Christian that wouldn't be exactly fair.
But anyways, I appreciate your content Dr. Angela.
Also, I've some questions for you. Have you a forum or is it best to just ask in comments here?
One of them is one you may see as reductive and off topic, but I will ask just the same:
"I've enjoyed the music genre of Power Metal for years. Bands like Blind Gaurdian, Avantasia, Sabaton, ...etc. But as I am first and foremost a Theologian and Philosopher, I have noted the Luciferian theology in this genre often. Would you agree this is a trend in power metal? And followup, do you think this trend has a base in esotericism? And lastly, if so, do you know where it began? I am aware that the rock genre at large has a fascination with Levay and Crowley, but I am curious as to how naturally that evolved or whether it was some followers of their cults trying to spread their doctrines in the background."
just wanted to say as a lover of Metal and a Lover of Christ, I've basically cut all Metal out of my life. I'll listen to it for about an hour once every few months because I don't want to deprive myself entirely, but yeah. Japanese Death Metal is soooooo good omgggggg but I try to keep those kind of vibrations out of my life.
I'd say if you really want to listen to metal (and you should it's a great genre) just do some research on the band before you start listening to them often.
@@sparklesparklesparkle6318 Very interesting,
I did something similar in 2021-2022. I cut out any and all music I could not doctrinally support. I found though that I had cut out most of my collection leaving barely an album left. Eventually as I went on through that time period my mental health worsened. Since then for many reasons I have opened up my musical inventory to whatever I want again. Feeling better now.
In pursuing Christ I say if it causes no ill effects, follow your conscience there with cutting out metal or such. In my case though it got the ball rolling for a full on removal of music over time.
I do agree though, learn the band's philosophy if you can. Always good to be informed
Question: when you say vibrations you are referring to the notion of good and bad vibrations, right?
@@your_name_here2158 I don't want to label different vibes as good or bad, everyone has their own needs and path to follow and it's not for me to tell someone what they are doing is right or wrong.
There's just certain vibrations and energies I'm about, and some I am not.
Like rap and metal I stay away from that vibe for my own personal reasons.
But if someone chooses to listen to if I don't think any differently of them.
@@sparklesparklesparkle6318 Nice,
Yeah, I get that.
There was a fundamentalist phase I went through back in the day and just labelled everything sin or not sin.
I've since learned there are many things that fall under personal taste or personal choice.
Not all things, but some things.
When I asked about vibrations, I was mainly asking if you understand the whole spiritual vibrations thing. I've not found much data on it yet, but it sounds interesting.
@@your_name_here2158 well I don't know too much about vibrations, but you should find a reiki healer you can trust and try a reiki session.
You can feel the energy they send into you it vibrates and it tickles. I wasn't a believer in Reiki until I tried it.
Also there are guides that will teach you how to have an out of body experience online (I always recommend Astral Dynamics by Robert Bruce it's free!), and when you're about to pop out of your body you feel your spirit vibrating quite a bit.
It's strange at first but it feels good once you're used to it.
I don't practice out of body experiences I'm afraid of what I'll encounter on the other side but I encourage you to give it a shot it's easier than you think!
Your so pretty. Thank you new sub.
This is crazy, especially, If the Gnostic idea of God in Genesis being Satan is true.
You know Genesis 1-12 is literally just a rewrite of an older Babylonian creation Myth? In the original texts which you can read online for free, it originally contained a pantheon of like literally 20 Gods.
Moses came from Polytheistic Babylon and declared that there is only One God, and he rewrote older stories to fit his narrative. Which I enjoy the rewrite and it holds value but if you have no knowledge of the original text it's copied from you're missing a HUGE part of the story.
@@sparklesparklesparkle6318 I have knowledge of it.

Since you're a Doctorate, then you are probably aware that that "love" thing was likely based in the fact that love as a romanticism philosophy was stagnant ever since Tennyson and Keats, and the idea was operant conditioning between kindness and pleasure as two distinct tracks.
But this is outdated now. Romantic love has made a comeback.
The one thing though that is timeless is to be respectful and considerate of other people's space and to bother no one when in public.
