I know Pattaya pretty well for a farang and I think you did a good job of giving us a view of the wider experience to be had in the area. That said, you really haven’t experienced Pattaya without going down Soi 6, Soi Buakhao, or Walking Street - at night. Although maybe not with the daughter, lol.

Great to see you back. We just did a small trip to Cha Am (the Jomtiem of Hua Hin) for some R &R. The wife did manage to jag accommodation within walking distance to BKK Uni for our daughter and she is enjoying it. Hope that it is all going good for Annie. Cheers, Shane 🍺
I'm way behind on my UA-cam and don't know you were down this way(just made it back to Thailand last week) Glad you enjoyed yourselves. Lots to do in the area, it's not just about the bars. Hope you doing well these days....
There tons of brill places to see in and around Pattaya with great hotels at very reasonable prices. The Santuary of Truth, Art in Paradise, 3 Mermaids, Dolphin shows, etc. I live here and love the place. Yes it has a seedy nite life but there much to explore here. Come back soon.

Rose and I really enjoy Jomtien/Pattaya and I completely agree that, in the main, it's way-way better than it's preceding reputation. Every time I come to Thailand, I always start by telling myself that I will definitely stay a month in Bangkok to really learn the city better, but within a week or so, we're usually headed south to Pattaya (mostly) or Hua Hin, Krabi or Phuket (and once went north to Chiang Mai). I've never been to Tak, but I gather it's much more "real" that the tourist destinations I usually head to. I think next time I visit (soon), we might do a bit of a road trip around Thailand. I'm excited about the DJI Pocket 3, which is supposed to be coming out within a month or so... exciting times for vloggers! All the best, Dave - @TravelsWithRose
Agree, I can't spend too long in Bangkok and enjoyed the laid back vibe of Pattaya. Pocket 2 has been great so far, will see what the pocket 3 offers. All the best.👍🍺
Pattaya is often the subject of ridicule, and has a reputation as being the centre of sleaze in Thailand. It's an unfair reputation. You can easily avoid the nightlife and enjoy a wide range of shopping venues, cinemas and great restaurants. It's not a boring place, people are friendly and I've always felt very safe there. Good for you for giving it a go.
........refreshing approach.....and it is by far the best place to visit if you have kids, both foreigner and Thai and has been for years with so much for them to do and many fun attractions to boot....................We always used to stay at Cabbages and Condoms/ Birds & Bees in Pratumnak, a superb place for kids..............................
I think it gets exactly the reputation it deserves personally. That doesn’t mean there aren’t family friendly, interesting things to do, but it is certainly responsible for its own image and there is a lot of truth in the rep it gets.
@@grahammurray7426 My favourite place in Thailand is the north, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. The problem is that for 6 months of the year the air pollution is unbearable and would lower your life expectancy if you stayed there full time. Hi James loved your vid unfortunately most tourists as you know go for complete different reasons than you and me .there is so many interesting and cultural places to visit hear I am same as you just scratching the surface.keep well and keep posting mate.TONY
Pattaya has become a sprawling city that has changed for the better and a lot of money is being injected to make it way more family friendly. It has many Beaches and Koh Larn is just a short boat trip away. Personally think its one of the better areas to live in Thailand.......it has it all and the shopping centres are amazing.

Wongamat beach ( Naklua) is nice if you have a car. This beach & north Pattaya bay ( along Beach Rd ) is away from the “seedy” party section. Most of the 4-5 star hotels are in north Pattaya.
Can’t believe you have never been to islands and stuff down south James, thats terrible man!! 😂 I had my first time in Pattaya last year (having avoided it for 20yrs) but only as family are now in Chonburi. It was ok I must admit, liked the western food & malls, you do see the odd site 😂 but daytime is fine ( I guess the mongers don’t get up until the afternoon 😅). Great vid James 👍 My daughter starts her 1st yr at uni here next week, couldn’t quite get a nice apartment like Annie’s - although they do have them here 🇬🇧 now, purpose built (cost about £12k per year). Had to settle for a room in a shared house for £660 pm exc bills. Take care mate 😎👍
Never thought I'd see you do a Patts video. Glad you liked the Aussie style pies. Smart choice not to investigate that last toilet any further 😅 Annies 20 already... where does the time go? Take it easy mate.
I’ve lived in View Talay condos for nearly 4 years and love it, the studios are a good size 58sgm with big balcony’s, massive swimming pools and well managed and maintained. A years rent can be as cheap as 10,000baht a month! 😊
Nice video james lots of good information there, I look forward to further Pattaya videos, well done for not riding the elephants I don’t like to see it personally, and I wish people would stop doing it…the only thing that spoiled the vide fir me was your comment about not seeing any ‘fat falang’ not a nice thing to say to be honest.
A heads up about Pattaya. You can get all kinds of "stuff" done on a tourist visa that you cannot in Bangkok. For example, for a reasonable fee (I think it was about 3,000 THB) I used a French guy to open a bank account with Bangkok Bank when I was on holiday in Pattaya a few months ago. I know you can also get the Over-50s Retirement Visa in Pattaya, and, for a "fee", not have to deposit the required significant sum of money into a bank account. All this kind of stuff is possible in "Sin City", but has become extremely difficult (impossible?) to do in Bangkok.
you may get used to the raw sewage stench after a couple days; yes its all pumped out into the gulf but the rains float it all up to street level and above. enjoy😂
@@jamesabroad8589 except for the septic tanks of residential properties, yes. there are zero functioning sewage treatment plants in Pattaya. So yeah all that goes out into the gulf and comes back in. That is IF the pumping stations can keep up with it which is a big IF.
James Looked through some of your videos and have a question, maybe it is something you have thought of yourself. Maybe also Annie has an opinion on as well. It is regarding boyfriends and potential partner in the future. Most of us are aware of the way things are here and you've covered most on your previous blogs. I have a two daughters with dual citizenship and we have been here just over seven years. They both were held back one year on arrival and one in primary the other in kindy. Now the eldest is in M2 and talking of universities in Bangkok. However I sometimes wonder if being Half farang has the same negative side as the poor old dad when it comes to the usual ..... Do friends actually get guided by their parent to become friends in the first place. My eldest has a friend who wants to accompany her to the old country on any holidays we take. They are well off families in good government high school. My daughter vans it to the city from the sticks daily. Until high school they were both in a good private school in the city and I traveled daily to pick them up. The fuel cost were higher than the school fees and I have now put my second daughter in a rural private school closer to home. My eldest daughter is fair and my youngest looks Thai, both born overseas yet treated differently here in the village school and with strangers the questions when shopping will never cease. They both speak Isaan, Thai and English although the later is now suffering as they no longer have the extra English curriculum. (subjects taught twice in English and Thai) plus the Chinese as well. My youngest daughters best friend is the step daughter of a farang in a neighbouring village. They both lost all their friends in our village when they left the local school. Getting side tracked do you think boys will want to date or marry a girl of dual nationality for the obvious benefits? Here in Isaan marriages are arranged or manipulated by the parents or aunties. How to deal with this? Also I have religious belief which does not include idolatry or animism etc. (redeemed and totally over the wat tours etc)
I think once at university in Bangkok, there's way more diversity. Annie is just taken for who she is and always has been. I also teach her to take no BS from anyone and choose friends carefully. Good luck.👍🍺
Pattaya has changed over the years and there will be big changes in the future .There is a lot of money going in and the city will develop big time . If you are considering going to retire there best Buy into the city before it is too expensive. It really is one of the greatest places to live obviously certain parts of the city aren’t for everyone but there are areas for everyone Those Ozzy pies looked good will definitely try them out but they are pricey
@@jamesabroad8589 It looks like a quality pie for sure, but the price is a little too much for most Thais. I guess over 80% of the customers are farang.
My current condo is just up the street from Pullman. Burger place across the street from Pullmans next to the Tops has one of the best burgers in town with a self serve laundry next door. Come high season this area called Wongamat is stuffed with Russians, eastern Europeans and Germans.
Like to retire in Thailand would 20million baht and pension last me at least ten years living in Thailand where do you recommend living there from Scott new Zealand thank you
@@jamesabroad8589 Yeah I agree I just recommended getting a delivery of them to an Aussie vlogger (after watching your vid) Ricky in Issan who's feeling a little down and thought a good Aussie pie or 2 would cheer him up?
150 baht is £3.75. Their pies are pretty decent and its worth paying extra to eat a pie in Pattaya in the sun with a cold beer than a crap pie in the United Kingdom of Albania in the pissing down rain. Just to clarify 😂.

I've found lobsters to be expensive in LOS. Sea food is generally bang on to be fair, another great video James
Cheers mate. Appreciate it.👍🍺
I’ve lived in View Talay condos for nearly 4 years and love it, the studios are a good size 58sgm with big balcony’s, massive swimming pools and well managed and maintained. A years rent can be as cheap as 10,000baht a month! 😊
Liked the area actually and must be some great views. Next to Tinnies Pies too, Bonus.👍👍
I'm a fat farang at the moment lol Not meant maliciously.👍🍺
It was a trippy show
A heads up about Pattaya.
Yep, heard visa agents are having a tougher time now in Bangkok. 👍🍺
Selfie hell, very true 😅
Drives me mad TBH. Photobomb.😁👍🍺
Love fresh seafood 👍❤️
you may get used to the raw sewage stench after a couple days; yes its all pumped out into the gulf but the rains float it all up to street level and above. enjoy😂
Oh really, so sewage is pumped out there. Nice.💩👍
@@jamesabroad8589 except for the septic tanks of residential properties, yes. there are zero functioning sewage treatment plants in Pattaya. So yeah all that goes out into the gulf and comes back in. That is IF the pumping stations can keep up with it which is a big IF.
James with his daughter in Pattaya; never thought I would see that.
Both liked it TBH. Obviously not doing night life with my daughter.👍🍺
Go visit Nong Nook garden outside Pattaya. You’ll need all day there it’s a beautiful place with great diversity. Including a fake Stonehenge 👌🏼
Will certainly check that out next time. Fake stone henge lol. 😁👍🍺
Now it’s 9pm and I want one of those delicious looking pies.
(Not a creamy one)
🍺
With a bit of mash and gravy. 😇
Pattaya has changed over the years and there will be big changes in the future .There is a lot of money going in and the city will develop big time .
If you are considering going to retire there best Buy into the city before it is too expensive.
It really is one of the greatest places to live obviously certain parts of the city aren’t for everyone but there are areas for everyone
Those Ozzy pies looked good will definitely try them out but they are pricey
Cheers kev. Certainly quality pies.👍🍺
Just a quick one to ask if all is OK. Not seen you for a while. Be well be safe 🙏
Yes ok mate, just taking a break. Have a great new year.🎄👍🍺
Does not look too crowded there👍
Tinnies Pies, hes from Tasmania, his family had a business there selling pies! good pies and coffee,
Yep, very impressed with Tinnies. Hope all's well.🍺👍
Why are the Tinnies pies so expensive? $4.50-$6 each?
Quality ingredients. Ripped off in cafes/hi so restaurants in Bangkok, so was a welcome treat TBH.
@@jamesabroad8589
It looks like a quality pie for sure, but the price is a little too much for most Thais. I guess over 80% of the customers are farang.
I suspect imported meats/ingredients from Oz maybe
Be safe and be careful. 🙂👍🙏
Cheers Martin, all the best.👍🍺
Cold beer is good 👍
Kwai....buffalo....same my wife calls me in her tempers....haha
😁👍
My current condo is just up the street from Pullman. Burger place across the street from Pullmans next to the Tops has one of the best burgers in town with a self serve laundry next door. Come high season this area called Wongamat is stuffed with Russians, eastern Europeans and Germans.
I think I know the place, just has a massive BURGER sign as you drive pass. 80% of tourists there were E.European/Russian. Perfectly nice though. 👍
Do you have a drink problem?
When there's free beer , yes. 👍🍺
@@jamesabroad8589😅👌
Like to retire in Thailand would 20million baht and pension last me at least ten years living in Thailand where do you recommend living there from Scott new Zealand thank you
Depends on your lifestyle mate. Check out Hua Hin. I've only heard good things.👍🍺
@@jamesabroad8589 thank you for your advice from Scott new Zealand
Tinnies pies are great.
Best pie I've had in Thailand.👍🍺
@@jamesabroad8589 Yeah I agree I just recommended getting a delivery of them to an Aussie vlogger (after watching your vid) Ricky in Issan who's feeling a little down and thought a good Aussie pie or 2 would cheer him up?
Guys like me who visit Pattaya purely for adult scene do not get to see it daytime much. Nice to see it in daytime lol
I wouldn’t pay nearly £5 in England for a pie (£1) so why pay that much in Pattaya? £5???? Crazy.!
Aussie quality beef and great pastry. Better than UK pies I've had TBH.👍🍺
150 baht is £3.75. Their pies are pretty decent and its worth paying extra to eat a pie in Pattaya in the sun with a cold beer than a crap pie in the United Kingdom of Albania in the pissing down rain. Just to clarify 😂.
@@jackdobson1992 The sign said 175 baht which is £4. Too many foreigners ripping off the public in Pattaya these days.
@@jamesabroad8589 Would you pay £4 for a pie in the U.K. though.
If quality Aussie beef yes. Westen style food/ingredients is more expensive to make and purchase all round.👍
Why did you stop making videos? Are you ok?
Just taking a break. Should be back soon. All the best.👍🍺
20 years in Thailand and you've never been to Pattaya before?
Never South of Bangkok. I like mountains lol.👍
Why does he keep telling us he's in his jeans?
I like my jeans.👍
michaelb: usually guys his age trying to appear young i.e. midlife crisis💪
I do hope you don't snore, poor Annie 😂😂😂
She has earplugs.😁👍🍺
