Hi James. It's definitely a good decision transferring the property to Annie. She's lucky to have parents like you guys. Yeah, online shopping can get out of hand most of the time, but it's convenient and prices are so much cheaper. 😂 Its always exciting to see what you've plan for the house, may it be renovation, adding furnitures, etc. You are always on top of your game. Have a good day mate.
Hi James entertaining vlog as usual good to see you back so quick. I have had similar tree issues in Sydney. Note. if you leave tree roots under the house and you just cut off the root limb then the lift of the initial root will rot and drop back over time so be careful not to build straight on it .
Familiar with the addiction. Having the same issue myself. Lazada's report over last year was a big revelation. Over 30,000 baht saved while ordering 569 times and 975 items arrived at my doorstep.
2 years ago during a very dry summer started to have serious drainage issues in the kitchen. Turns out in a search for water one tree had found its way into the underground drainage pipe, and created a blob of roots in it, clogging up the whole thing. The trees were in a corner of the garden. Using a special camera we managed to locate the spot and take it out. Excellent idea about the transfer to Annie. If it can be of any comfort, think about land- and heir related taxes in Europe ! House interior is cosy and inviting.
Once the offending roots are dug out. Core drill about 6 ft down close to tree base, send down a hollow plastic conduit about 4inch diameter and water tree weekly from that point. With any luck you will stop the tree sending out too many more other roots in search for water.
@@jamesabroad8589 I am a carpenter that has been working for a builder for years, in my experience they will say chop the bugger down 😂 no one likes their hard work being destroyed, however if you are willing to take a chance, and love the tree you could try my advice and to even spur it along and to encourage more root growth at the base of tree you can always add a mycorrhizae/ trichoderma combo and send down the conduit. (Beneficial bacteria and fungi) this will make a healthier tree and the roots that come into contact with this combo will be very healthy and no need to spread so far.. As an aside, you have a truly magnificent house and yard, very beautiful . Well done!!
Yooo James interesting vlog. We had a similar problem up in Chiang rai with that species of tree. We ended up cutting the roots like you did we also had to top all our big trees as we are scared they will fall over in a storm. We only get up there for a few weeks a year so better be carful as two toppled over in a storm not far from the house. We did a usufruct for our home in Chiang Rai and my son will get this place in a few years when he hits 20. We are heading to Coldplay next week so hopefully a good gig dont think they top Queen or Bob Marley my two best ever concerts from the past. Love your new decor brother good taste.
Can report that the watermelon and avocado system works. I have eaten 14 watermelons and 7kg of avocado last 2 weeks and I am firing on all cylinders. The only downer is that I am single and now have a sprain in my wrist requiring medical intervention.
Hey mate, did have a laugh on your latest vid, That shopping on line thing ,can be expensive after a mountain cabbage or two, Must admit I do the same looking through different eyes, Keep up the good work man, Love your channel
You are a shopaholic James 👍🏻..surprised how big those tree roots were and the Damage they can cause…great video and looking forward to hearing how you damaged the pick up
Cheers James, you seem to get on top of things pretty quickly which is great to see (at least this is my perception from a very distal perspective). Good to see Annie's future (and yours) is squared away, its interesting having to do that. Temu and AliExpress have arrived in Aus, and I can definitely go down rabbit holes with those. But the delay in receiving goods (postage times from China) does luckily supress the appetite a bit. If it was next day or two delivery I could see me buying all sorts of stuff I don't really need. Hope all else is well, you are looking fit and healthy. 👍👍
Cheers mate. I have to wait a week or two from things coming from china. But I order so many things I forget about it and they just arrived LOL. All the best.👍🍺
Nice to see you well and on top of things, why did you gift the house to Anne? Would it not have been better just to add Anne's name to the Chanote so you all owend it.
Cheers mate. Always wanted to do it really. Coupled with the fact my relationship isn't the strongest and a few dodgy family members lurking in the background kind of pushed us in that direction.👍🍺
Dear James, I wondering you have any advice concerning the maintenance and handyman companies in Thailand. We are currently in Hua Hin Thailand but I have to say its quite hard to find some reliable company or handyman who knows what is he doing.
Hi James great to see you back. I thought your wife is a lawyer. If its a gift you don't have to pay much to my knowledge. Some admin fees and that's it. And surely not to the entire value. And regarding the roots they grow upwards cos the soil is too hard at the bottom. I'm facing the same issues here with my soil I decided to chop it 😂 not much of a green lover. Except the vines which grows on the fences . It's blocks the view for privacy 😂😊
Still stamp duty and fees to pay unfortunately but at a lower rate. Yes, have about 1.5m black top soil with hard road soil beneath that. Might well take it down. All the best.👍🍺 .
Nice one James. Who would have thought a tree named the devils tree could cause such issues? If you keep your lazada habit up like this then they may aswell rebrand it to Jameszada. Candles over the toilet. Just when I think I've seen it all you amaze me at even greater heights of toilet wizardry. Take care mate.
You did great in eating the Avocados but then went in the opposite direction on the beer. A new international medical journal just came out with a study that shows that No alcohol consumption is healthy and any alcohol even in moderation is bad including dispelling the myth about the one glass a day of red wine. I myself like a beer now and then but after reading the statistics in this study I am rethinking drinking any alcohol. Cheers Mate and good luck with the roots.
Life Isnt supposed be a strict regime to fend off death.. if you “live” fearing death , is it living? Everything in moderation is much more enjoyable, each to their own I say, and keep your judgement to yourself.
Great video and your house loos really nice and zen. I agree re the tax business - everyone is freaking out but people will certainly not be double taxed where there are treaties in place and I think that they are trying to catch bigger fish (there are a lot of people with vast assets who are using loopholes to avoid tax) . Mind you the Thais love a bit of bloody paperwork so i am sure there will be some form of bureaucracy in place re tax returns but it will be more of a pain than something that will really hammer people's pockets. Cheers James
Those grapes are all imported from China where they are sprayed relentlessly with insecticide and chemicals most of which are banned elsewhere in the world.
It's in tradition to pass all your fortune down to your child/children. Since she's the only child of James' there is no one else but hers to inherit. People also do it as a security measure in case of a potential divorce, to discourage parents from splitting. In this way, if you decide to part ways, you just taking yourself and nothing else (no cars, no house, no 50/50, since everything is in the child's name already). This is a Thai way of ensuring the family will continue to be 1 cohesive family. Unless the child decides to kick the parents out of the house, but I doubt it. In Thai tradition, as you get older you are supposed to take care of your parents. you can look at it from a financial perspective, you can look at it from securing your marriage, or you can look at it from just simply gifting/passing your fortunes down to your kids. For James, we don't know his reason for transfer. Regardless of his decision, he will eventually have to transfer everything to Annie anyway...him and his wife, they not gonna live forever.
We payed 30k baht when wife's brother gave us his 50% of their land in taxes so sounds about right. Could do it cheaper they said but would take looong time so we "had" to pay 30k 😂
Yes, took forever to get the final land paper lol. Luckily they calculated for standard tiled house when working out the amount and wife forgot to mention the garage lol. Should have been a bit more, but glad it's done. All the best. 👍🍺
*haha, house in daughter name, did that... put them true university, and now... virtually homeless in a few weeks, because she decided it is HER HOUSE (I PAID) and rents it out and the rents goes to her, so I can go F off and live in a condo... and that was my daughter... was... as she did not come to visit anymore after that... if you can't own it, don't pay for it...expected that from a low life thai woman, but not my daughter*

1% of the value of the house by land department, for gifting... usufruct is 150 baht, unless the corrupt land department says NO

Gotta love those prices.❤️👍
If you paid 33,000 baht and that was 1% of the fees; they only valued the house and all that land you bought at 3.3 Million baht.
