See how a war between Bulgaria and Serbia in 1885 almost led to Serbia's collapse. Music used: "The Chase" by Kevin MacLeod found at www.incompetech.com
Actually Bulgaria didn't annexed East Rumelia(I live in this region), because East Rumelia was a Bulgarian autonomous region in the Ottoman Empire, but it was a public secret that they will unite and the "annexаtion" was manly organized by the government of East Rumelia and it's army.
that is true, bulgaria never annexed east rumelia. the first bulgarian leader (alexander I) had the idea of both countries to unite, and so in plovdiv (the place where i was born), alexander I declared himself as "the ruler of both countries".
We, in Bulgaria reffer to this war as the "War of the Generals versus the Captains". The reason for this is that after the Russo-Turkish war, the highest in command were Russians generals, training our army. They were recalled shortly before this war, so Bulgaria had no generals. The highest military rank our army had was Captain, which is very low.
@@justarandomnerd3360Bulgaria also didn`t wanted and didn`t expected it. Our army was on south expecting attack from the Ottomans cuz it`s their teritory that we want to annex. Before that backstabbing we were friends with the Serbs or even brothers.
Fun fact: the fail, incompetent King Milan of Serbia, didn't want to call his generals who were good and had experience from previous wars, but he wanted to have a little adventure, so he took command of the army, and he brought only about half of the army (young recruits under 30 years, who were inexperienced, while he left veterans at home), because he underestimated Bulgarian military strength. He has also told his soldiers that they will be joining Bulgarians in a fight against the Ottomans, so the soldiers were confused, and had low morale when they found out they are actually fighting Bulgarians, because they didn't want to fight a non Ottoman army at that time. That ultimately led to military defeats, and no wonder everybody started hating the Obrenovic dynasty of Serbia.
Major battles were Slivnitsa and Vidin. Bulgarian troops marched three days from the Turkish border near Odrin through the balkan and entered fighting immediately without resting which is why they won
this war is also called the captains versus the generals because the untrained bulgarian ,,generals'' beat the austro-hungarian generals sent to the serbians
Politics and Nationlists split us, in the past time, nobody of the european great nationas wanted a strong Balkan... of course we had an own conflicts, but it was the intersest of the politic of Europe to distrub the Balkans. We have so much in common on the Balkans and now, after we want to progress to a modern "first world", now we have to deside whom employer we will be faithful, sad... I pray for all my Balkan brothers, no matter from where they are
Sorry to say it but i found this to be really lazy. given the short nature of the conflict you could have gone down further on the map and shown better detail. Now do not take this as a personal attack.
My knowledge is limited on the rise of Bulgaria I know that the region is named after the nomadic people who came from somewhere beyond Crimea they originally had a khan like the Mongols they had a bipolar relationship with the Byzantine empire sometimes they fought sometimes they worked together
+Darth Vitiate Your knowledge is wrong. They came from around Crimea, but they were Bulgarians on the Balkans before that, and they actually freed them . And they never had a khan and have nothing to do with Turkic tribes, they always were European !
They had Kanoveliki - which means - Great pearson. Also the Bulgarian's come from nowadays Central and Eastern Ukraine. scholars believed that the Bulgarians believed in Tangra, but most of them were Orthodox Christians, even the great Kubrat, the last ruler of Old Great Bulgaria was a Bulgarian as a child,he lived and was educated in many languages and was a Christian but also worshiped Tangra so that he could control his divided people between Christianity and paganism. And yes, then Byzantium cooperated with Bulgaria , had good relations and Byzantium hired Bulgarian warriors who became famous in Europe for their success and tactical skills, but mostly on the strength of the warriors. There are many more things I can tell you, of course if you want.I hope I helped you learn something new.

Serbia's gratefulness to Austria-Hungary lasted less than 29 years
they did it o]nly cause there was an austtrophilic government in serbia which was overhrown in 1903.
serbia didnt even want the war in the first place, it was king milan obrenovic who wanted it
@@justarandomnerd3360Bulgaria also didn`t wanted and didn`t expected it. Our army was on south expecting attack from the Ottomans cuz it`s their teritory that we want to annex. Before that backstabbing we were friends with the Serbs or even brothers.

Wasnt Ottoman Empire kinda bigger at that time ?
Why did Austria threaten with war

this war is also called the captains versus the generals because the untrained bulgarian ,,generals'' beat the austro-hungarian generals sent to the serbians

+I am ROSSO I considered it but it was difficult to find a good map zoomed in to the area and I was too busy to draw it myself.
+EmperorTigerstar And don't forget the upload times! A video this size easily takes 2 years (!) for uploading!
Bulgaria
Bulgaria was a member of the central powers in WW1 and the axis in WW2. Casted their lot both times with the germanic powers.
Russian Empire also threatened Bulgaria.
