I'm pretty sure Sephiroth was pretending to be Glenn the entire time. Glenn did actually die, but Jenova is able to become/transform into basically anybody, since Sephiroth has taken control of the Jenova cells in the robed men, he is able to manipulate and transform them into himself. Only this time, he transformed a robed man into Glenn.
Is it Sephiroth or Jenova itself? I guess more likely Sephiroth since he's in control of the black whispers. My assumption was that something or somebody using Glenn's body was working for Sephiroth but it could just straight up be him... Also mad it took me so long to realise Surruf was RUFUS. I only processed it after my playthrough watching things back 😂
And it seems like most of them are already destroyed too, this whole multiverse is gonna be really interesting by the end of the next game though. SO EXCITED!

There are quite a few AC tunes / references in the game. I feel like a lot gets missed in this game for those that aren’t familiar with other FF titles / media. The game is sold as a standalone but there is so much more if you have experienced the rest.

It's crazy how many 'worlds' we visited. The one with Aerith and Cloud on the date was different, and the one where Biggs was shot was totally different as well. The one where Biggs was shot, the chip bag had a Pug as the mascot. The 'worlds' we knew about had a Terrier or a Beagle. The one where Aerith and Cloud went on the date had a different dog on the chip bag as well.
Sephiroth manipulated Cloud into saving her. In one timeline. Her dying is needed for Sephiroth to lose. When Cloud blocks Sephiroth's attack he's pushing with everything while Sephiroth has a blank effortless look on his face. Cloud is not strong enough to knock Sephiroth's sword out of his hand. Sephiroth let him. Sephiroth then goes on a speech about the worlds merging. It was shown in the cinematic at the end of remake that Sephiroth in a one on one sword fight is just F'ing around with Cloud, blocking his attacks with his one non dominant hand then knocking Cloud's sword out of his hand with ease when he feels like it. Going off that I don't believe Cloud can block a downward falling attack from Sephiroth and knock his sword out of his hand. He'll keep Aerith alive in one world then merge them for his victory to happen.
For those into theory crafting or just looking for clues / ideas as to where this game is going.. during the last Jenova fight cloud says “we’ve done this before, we can do it again.” I initially thought it was strange and maybe he was referring to having beaten different forms of Jenova before.. but, then Cloud can suddenly see Aerith when the others can’t + he can see the rift when the others can’t. Either he now exists in two timeline’s simultaneously or Aerith has gifted Cloud with her previous abilities to see things that are happening / have happened / going to happen (she could before her white materia was drained of knowledge).
That's interesting, I fele like if Cloud knew then his mind would break & he'd know his true self at this point right? I do think he's stuck between two timelines though... But that wouldn't explain the "We've done this before" line. This is all so interesting to me
@@UnknownGamer37 Sephiroth also has a deep connection to Cloud and Cloud has been having visions of the future ever since Sephiroth went back in time to mess with reality. We also know that Sephiroth has a major influence on Cloud's psyche while Aerith is mainly trying to heal his psyche. I would surmise that right now we are deep in unreliable narrator territory and are in effect being manipulated by Sephiroth heavily alongside Cloud's broken perspective. As Sephiroth said, with clouded eyes he will never see the truth. And Jenova is able to take on the form of those you love, so Sephiroth's manipulation with Jenova's assistance can really mess with him. And with Red at the end feeling Aerith, we can confirm that at least one form of Aerith at the end is Aerith from the lifestream, potentially. The issue is that flash of green/pain that Cloud had before seeing Aerith while everyone was silently mourning near the source of water. It's a clear indication that something is blocking Cloud's mind or manipulating his perspective, that's when Aerith appears and the music is eerie despite being Aerith's theme in parts. The final nail in the coffin is the ending words too. No Promises at Journey's End. Aerith is dead and the next step in our journey, Cloud is potentially going to be even more of a broken mess then he was previously. So we don't just have potential Multiverses, but we also have break in perspective of reality because Cloud literally has dementia. So we also have fake delusional realities to contest with and because we see a lot of what happens through Cloud, we're really screwed as viewers.
Maybe now Cloud himself want the reunion to happen to see Aerith again and willingly give the black materia to sephiroth, and maybe that what sephiroth is manipulating Cloud to do. He can’t force him since the outcome is clear, but make Cloud do it willingly😢😢😢
I actually think he's stuck in two different timelines. Look at the rainbow effect when he's holding Aerith and she's alive. It's the same as when Zack shifted timelines. It's also probably why he can see the rift in the sky at the end
Watching your stream and then rewatching it again (lol), i now kinda have this theory where Aerith died on one timeline (where they’re surrounded by the lifestream, with barret, tifa, and the others) but Cloud saved her on the timeline where there’s that pink/green/yellow aura flowing around them. Cloud’s in between worlds hence why he can see Aerith but the others are in their own OG world. Like everytime you see that aura thing just think it’s the world where Aerith is still alive. It’s just a theory. I feel like i need to rewatch a few (hundred) more times before part 3 comes out. 😅
YES! That’s exactly how I felt thinking about it while editing, he saved her but that split the timeline it didn’t actually save her! She lives and dies at the same time. It’s the same way Zack has a split off timeline, but my question is… Why is it every timeline but our main one the world ends in?
but then the aerith at the end of remake was not from the original world aswell i guess because her last line at the end of remake was "The sky, I don't like it" when she looked up. I wonder how much of what we played in remake was even the original timeline lol.... i wonder if those arent even timelines and square tries to trick us like sephiroth wants to trick cloud xD

@@ChocolateKieran haha they realy do us dirty! It's just weird that 5 or 6 days before release of Rebirth they patched the cutscene in REMAKE. Before she said "I miss it, the steel sky" and now she says "The sky, I don't like it" which is a more accurate translation of the japanese original. I think if it wasnt important to the story they wouldnt have changed it last minute.. the patch was also many GB big so i wonder... :D We will see.... Im so there for the wild ride! Cant wait
@@lelela2211 That's definitely our Aerith. Aerith isn't afraid of the sky. She just prefers the steel sky when the real sky has taken people away from her. In the beginning of Rebirth, she even talks about how her memories were taken by the Whispers. She likely had instinctive reactions to Destiny's Crossroads and created a new timeline with Zack being alive in that instance.
I do believe that Cloud saved Aerith. The "dream" which isn't a dream, since Aerith did the same in REMAKE where she got captured by Shinra, is showing that's not Zacks timeline. Sephiroth's mention: "So this is where u've been hiding", seems like it's the OG Aerith. But what i noticed is, that after Cloud get pushed by Aerith and Sephiroth had his speech, that the forest seems off. It cannot be the REMAKE Aerith, he's giving the Materia. Aerith is saying: " We meet again". Nothing like someone would say if they fell down together. After that Cloud is crouching with many white whispers and after that we see multiple scenes with a green flu. The same flu we saw when Cloud did see the sleeping Aerith. And in this scenes, they didnt even fell down. Aerith stays up, but all happens right infront the temple. We see cait sith who apologizes to Aerith, and a Cid that navigates the Group somewhere, all while they are standing infront of the temple. The next moment the group is in the forest and barret is carrying Cloud till they arrive the place where Cloud was crouching. After that Barret says something like: "What did you see? Your eyes were moving like hell" I think that all of this is important. What if they never fell (in this timeline).. maybe that would explain why cloud still has the black materia at the end, cause maybe there he never gave sephiroth the black one. How this timeline was created? Maybe sephiroth did it the moment he destroyed the stuff where they were standing, and they fell down. We did see the same with Zack, sephiroth was the reason that Zack couldn't stay with Cloud and was send to another timeline. It's important too that Cloud is the only one who enters a white portal after he's saying Aeriths name. It seems like the same portal from the REMAKE Ending, right before the last Boss fight. Cloud definitely saved her in another timeline, that's why all of the party members are sad, except Cloud. I mean he remembered that she died, the moment they were sitting there. But then she shows up and we can see that he's smiling but he's sad at the same time. He clearly knows that Aerith is dead in his timeline right now, but he also knows that worlds can merge, since sephiroth told him. That's my guess. They would never do the dead scene like that without reason tbh. All the snaps to the OG Version, and actual timeline over and over again. My guess is that he can see the crack in the sky bc of the dream scene. Aerith gave him the Materia, and after that the blank one. Maybe he shared all her knowledge with him. FF is all about symbolism and i think theres a pretty deep meaning in the last scene, where we can see the blank materia. It was pretty dark and the moment cloud turns it, it gets brighter, with a cloud at the bottom and earth (aerith)at the top with his face reflecting right in the middle. So my guess is that they definitely will reuinite in P3. And that the last part will be pretty different than the OG. Zack still has to cure the coma cloud as we know, and there's still the sleeping Aerith. I think that this timeline will be the most important. Hints that his curing will be handled WAY different in P3, and not like it was handled in the OG. Lot of text, but that's what I get from this Ending.
You know Sephiroth is going extra when he's giving Rufus PTSD (Post Traumatic Sephiroth Disorder). "In the back- just like old times" I've gotta say is one of the *Coldest* lines in FF7 after Killing his Dad and OG Timeline Aerith.
Hello! Here’s an explanation as to what the heck is going on with cloud at the end You notice how cloud can see the sky split? Saw black materia? Saw aerith? Well, cloud actually DID save Aerith.. in his timeline. But Sephiroth wanted cloud to feel the grief of loss, so he merged our cloud into the timeline where aerith died, and that worlds cloud (the one from Zack and Biggs timeline) into the world where aerith survived, albeit in a coma. So everyone else saw aerith die, where as cloud and “his worlds aerith” are still actively fighting against Sephiroth. Aerith is stuck in their original world and will use holy to combat the black materia alongside cloud also fighting Sephiroth. It is also why aerith called the black materia a fake, in that timeline it was in fact a fake, but in the timeline Sephiroth sent cloud to it is not a fake, and it is the key to the timeline merger so he had to send cloud there, which was also perfect so he fell into despair of Aeriths loss. Too bad for Sephiroth he miscalculated aeriths resolve which is why he stated he underestimated her. Sephiroth wants to be understood and thinks cloud is the only one who can, hence why he is specifically being targeted for all of this and given an explanation / the black materia to bring to Sephiroth. Aerith even comments on Sephiroth loneliness several times.
Ohh I concluded things slightly different while editing this... I do agree that Cloud split off two timelines by saving Aerith, but what you're saying here is that sephiroth switched him into one where she died anyway? The only other thing I question is... Why was she alone in this other timeline? I really can't wait for this all to be explained because at this point I'm not sure how many variants of Aerith we've seen LOL. I like how they're keeping things confusing with Cloud's mind breaking to trick us also though
When Aerith stepped out of her portal like an absolute fucking badass I was so hyped. Aerith didn't die, Cloud saved her but she manipulated the timeline to make it look like she's dead. 🤯
I think it's both. He saved her but that split a timeline to one where she died and one where she lived. The same rainbow effect from where split choices happen was shown in the timeline where she lived for Cloud, but that world also seems to be ending since there's a rift the others can't see? It's interesting
From what I can gather, I think she IS dead in the main timeline BUT managed to transfer over to her AU self who was created when Cloud swung his sword. Why else would we be shown earlier in the chapters that specifically her and Cloud are connected to their AU selves to the point where Cloud is even pulled into his AU self and sent back. It's why we see her 'fade away' and then her 'AU' self who was shown to be awake previously is now sleeping and then she 'wakes up' similar to how she and Cloud 'woke up' in the Zack timelines. NOW, as to why Cloud can see her and no one else can......multiverse sheninigans? but I also think it has to do with Cloud being the only one behind the whisper wall when all this went down.
She's dead in the main timeline to fool Sephiroth. With Sephiroth thinking she's dead, she was free to activate Holy in the new timeline that was created. Thus, when she stepped out of the portal Cloud was surprised and Sephiroth admitted that he underestimated her. Unfortunately it meant stranding her in a different timeline until the world's merge.

Great gameplay! But I have to say that Cloud never had Zack's memories. He himself created a Soldier/mercenary persona that he idealizes, so much so that he doesn't remember Aerith nor does he have the same personality as Zack. It is explained in the original and ultimanias.
As far as I understood when playing the OG and even just in this game, he took all his memories and information about Zack & combined it with his own memory to see himself as the Cloud he is now. If it wasn't for his knowledge of Zack, he wouldn't be acting the way he is right now. Unless you're saying I misunderstood that? He copies all of Zack's behaviour specifically not necessarily in his personality, but all his mannerisms. Also thank you! 😁

And also, he watched Zack in action (especially in Nibelheim) so he can copy his mannerisms and his way of fighting with Jevona cells help. Proof that he didn't have Zack memories is...in Rebirth, in Kalm, Tifa said the mayor's excited to have dinner with SOLDIER (Sephiroth&Zack) but Sephiroth didn't come. Meaning, Zack came. But Cloud didn't remember that cz he's a grunt not a SOLDIER. That's why he "huh?" at Tifa's story. And Tifa is confused too. Also! The way Cloud hold his sword in his back mirrored what Zack does. If Zack's memories really came into him, he will put the sword 100% like Zack, not mirrored. Cloud is his own person and he created his SOLDIER persona based on Zack. Jenova cells trying to create fake memories based on Cloud's weakness and PTSD. And it backed up with Tifa's memories & reactions too. Cz she never straight up say anything about he truth. Until it's too late in OG. Hopefully, this R Tifa will corrects everything before Cloud thinking that he's a fake puppet. And we got Aerith's power too. So I guess Cloud won't broke like in OG. 😊

I think we saved Aerith. Look at the sword after he failed. You switch universe. There's a universe where she got saved. Time will time what timeline we play on the 3rd game.
Congrats on beating the game! Nice watching you play after having beaten most of the content myself too(not on hardmode yet normal was whooping my butt BRUTALLY sometimes😅) if you plan on doing the hard side content like all summons, and the protorelic questline, I think you’d fare better using clouds block when in or out of punisher mode and counterstance rather than dodging so much. The side bosses are fullll of AoE moves that dodging just won’t work well for lmao. Just a suggestion for if you try to tackle the side challenges, again great work Kieran!
1:50:00 synergy abilities causes him to be pressured, use them after you dodge with cloud. This was the easiest part for me. What wasn’t was the Cait Sith and Tifa fight because I forgot to equip Cait Sith and I refused to go through Aerith’s death again so soon.
Aerith turning around after taking out the materia from the bow. She… looks older? Somehow? But I think it’s more the eyes. You can see the ghosts in them, if that makes any sense. The things she’s seen, the amount of times she’s ran through this loop. Saying “Whatever Happens, don’t blame yourself…” rings with the tone of telling someone who is dying that they’re “gonna be ok”. It kinda hit me all at once.
I don’t know where else a similar model for the occasion has been, but the bird form for Sephiroth for cloud and Zack is reminiscent of the endsinger in ff14, who sings of despair, it’s a good touch given that they’re in space too
Just finished the game, appreciate your breakdown and reaction. To me there was three time lines, the original ff7, zacks timeline and rebirth time line. Zacks time line is to die. Zack I believe has now entered the rebirth time line. The original time line and rebirth time line is now in sync with the main events that will play out in the third installment, I believe that Cloud has the ability to see both time lines as we see glimpses of him recalling a time line he did not live (weeping scene with aeirths death) The reason for me this being that Sephiroth through the enitrety of this game talks about a merger of worlds. He talks about Cloud not ending in remake and how he will not let him end, those that play the original know that Cloud is about to have his internal battle but i think this is now magnified. We have seen all soldiers and test subjects have the potential to allow Sephiroth to be reborn. This is a nod as well to advent Children and as the scnese where the balck robed men, Glenn are vessels for Sephiroth. There was a reason advent children was released again before the game. There is a scene with Aeirth and Cloud where they how hands in a field of white and she says the exact same words as in the movie. Cloud to me has become the perfect vessel, the merger that sephiroth talks about as he sees both time lines. I believe Aeirth is alive in the Rebirth time line in which Zack has now entered, by the cinematic with everyone not being able to see Aeirth is that of the original time line and the main party are now in that time line where Aeirth is dead. Hence the reason we see the parties POV when seeing Aeirth die/saved and see blood vs no blood scenes. However since the two time lines are now synced and Cloud can see both timelines simultaneously, that is why he see's Aeirth in the end cinematic and the others do not. She is left behind to fight the unkown future through prayers and the white Materia she obtained from Cloud (from Zacks timeline) as the one in her time line has faded. I believe that the Final third game will truely wrap things up with Aeirth being with Zac just like we see them at the end of advent children and Sephiroth being truly depleted. The only thing that I can't quite get is the weapons. The weapons we see are quite differnet from the weapons we see in OG. Both have been stated to be summoned by the planet in times of grave danger, only difference is besides their looks is that the weapons in rebirth are fighting against sephiroth while the ones in OG were not. I have a funny feeling that last scene with the weapons is a for shadowing. Either Sephiroth will take over the weapons and transform them or just like the whispers, he will create his own which i hope is in the image of the OG weapons. How does the third game play out? No clue, though the main events will still unfold i feel like the final battle where Sephiroth is truely beaten will be at the edge of creation. However this is just focusing on the main story.... That or Cloud just has an extreme case of PTSD. Let us not forget they have made dirge of cerberus cannon as we see Neo, Whis and deep ground. Anyone whos played dirge and saw the ending knows that one Vincent is the true GOAT and two the return of Genisis and Angeal. So far this is my assumption and speculation into the future of this trilogy. I would liek to think some of what i said is true lol
I agree with most of what you said, but it seems there are more than 3 timelines. Since Zack alone at the start of this video entered about 3 LOL. I do also think the Rebirth timeline has plit into two, one where Aerith died and one where Cloud saved her and Cloud seems to be stuck inbetween them both with the story continuing on in the one where Aerith has died. I really like the idea you have that Sephiroth WANTED this so he could use Cloud as a vessel... Nice call! There's so much going on... That would be insane if Sephiroth took over or created his own Weapons though. I've never played Dirge but including that stuff would be super interesting, but agreed I'm waiting on a Genesis return at some point also!
I think the Corel and Gongaga 'Weapons' are basically new baby Weapons created to recent events... im fuzzy on the timeline but i think they came to be after Seth went Craycray, no way are they the ancient ones sleeping in thew Northern Crater. You could say they are 'Weapons' not 'WEAPONS'
Have to say after playing it thats now ff16 and ff7 rebirth in consecutive years that has got me invested so much in the characters i prefer these types of games
Another idea is that after Cloud deflects Masamune it is not Sephiroth that changes thing, he doesnt need to as there are plenty of whisers around to set thing back on the 'correct' course hence why there is no blood in on the Aerith we see but there is on the flashes of the other
"I'm so confused..." And that's what sums up why I was so mad at this ending. It's not that she still died, it's that they had to ruin the moment with the stupid fake out. I also thought that if she died, she would still be alive in the other timeline. But we saw Sephiroth coming after her there, too. So in the end, what was the point of defying destiny?
After watching it back, it does seem she IS alive in another timeline. Don't forget there's not just two timelines. Cloud split that point in time in two, one where he saved her and didn't so she's dead in one but alive in another, he seems stuck between worlds which is why he can see the rift in the sky AND Aerith. The fact Red can feel her too and showed evidence of having memories from a past/alternate world kind of suggests she is still there and Cloud isn't entirely crazy
Easy 9.5/10 and a 9 at the very minimum. Might go up on a second playthrough but a few things frustrated me a little, like the options when you lose make no damn sense. I don't need a riddle to figure out how much progress I will lose on a retry LOL
Yes I know that obviously there are things to criticize but the good things about the game are so good that they make me almost completely forget all the slightest frustrations.

My theory is that Aerith isn’t a force ghost, but an actual living person. Sorta. So whenever cloud successfully saves Aerith from sephiroth, we see the rainbow flares, than it cuts back to a dead Aerith. Simple enough right? There’s a universe with an alive Aerith, and one with a dead one, and we follow the dead one. But wait, cloud is rapidly flipping between the two. In fact, the only reason DEAD universe cloud has the motivation to go fight sephiroth is from ALIVE universe Aerith to go fight him. Than, after the battle, everyone else surrounds a dead Aerith, whereas CLOUD goes to an alive and very much okay Aerith. It’s not that we get a random switch to another timeline for goofs, this is what OUR CLOUD is seeing. It’s why he sees an alive Aerith who is walking and talking. This isn’t schizo cloud either: red XIII senses her, and she continues to watch as the plain goes by AFTER cloud would be able to hallucinate her. Ya see, as soon as an important timeline split happens, the timelines began merging (as seen with Zach, though the party manages to stop it). So whenever the timeline split happens, the aerith alive timeline gets sort of semi stuck within the main remake continuity, and cloud is stuck experiencing both. It’s why he can see the rip in the sky, but no one else can. Because the rip is in the aerith is alive timeline, which he is experiencing at the same time as the aerith is dead timeline. Notice how physical their conversation is. “Will you be okay getting back?” Implies one she has to physically go somewhere, and two and more importantly, she can be hurt. If she was a force ghost just popping by to say goodbye, that wouldn’t be a worry. We experience rapid whiplash between an alive and dead aerith timeline because that’s what CLOUD is experiencing, two timelines at once at melded weirdly due to be created at the same time as Sephiroths antics. I feel very strongly that this is what the devs were trying to imply, and I think I know how they might resolve it. We know from the end Zack intends to find a way to reemerge his timeline with the main remake continuity. If he successfully does so, that will give the mind of Aerith that doesn’t full have a body for everyone in the remake continuity be able to mesh with a very physical (but mentally likely brain dead) version that is very much touchable to everyone whenever the timelines merge. We know the devs for remake want to have their cake and eat it too: make a faithful remake that at the same time has big changes. This way they could do it perfectly. The actual game follows the same story as the OG, a world with a dead Zack and dead Aerith and cloud and the gang having to stop sephiroth, but the ending will have an alive Zack and Aerith, that way they can make those changes without changing the actual in game story.

This line just spells it out for you what actually happened, Aerith did die during that moment but Cloud thinks he parried the attack from Sephiroth to make her live, none of that actually happened though. Its while in gameplay everyone has Limit Breaks because of powerful emotions of her death, but Cloud. Who thinks he saved her. I dont think its a force ghost situation with Aerith at the end its just a fake Aerith on how Cloud sees her to keep going since he cant accept it right now that he failed, which is why shes still around did Cloud vs Sephiroth, it's all in his head. Barret asking if hes ok and able to handle going forward and Cloud saying he ready to go and will be just fine is fucked up, just take a note on how Barret and Tifa reacted to it, they were horrified. I dont think ignoring Tifa's emotions about Aerith's death is gonna be a good thing for Cloud and him not accepting it is just gonna make it worse, she's gonna snap. And now the Black Materia is just gonna corrupt Cloud more and more making it worse.
Sephiroth's end game is the same as the Original. To combine all worlds into 1 with HIM at the Center in control of EVERYTHING. i get it. Id do the same

This game made me come out of it not sure of a feeling like i wasnt satisfied enough by the ending which i don't mean for it be taken out of context that thats a bad thing it felt like this particular ending was missing something compared to Remake ending which made you excited for whats to come i didn't really get that with this ending i think its due to how much stuff was thrown together at this finale is whats throwing me off

@ChocolateKieran My feelings doesn't come from the confusion cause I'm someone that's played the OG ff7 so I know plots points when I see them this ending is akin to how precisely disc1 ended my feelings more so comes from how much the build up was for it to end the same way disc1 of og ends granted there is alot that has changed enough for this ending but when I look at Remake and how that ended it made the leaving Midgard section of the og felt more forfilling fighting sephiroth seeing Zack ect. It was a mind-blowing experience with Rebirth I felt like it ended abruptly like some things were answered but I still don't have enough information to feel satisfied it really makes me seem like I'm hating but I truly love this game my concerns just lies more on where are they going with these plots points

All these questions around split timelines, whether Aerith actually survived in one, Zack .. Glenn, the weapons turning up way earlier than the original game AND the multiverse. There's so much that makes me wonder what we're in store for. When I say confusion I'm talking about if they're even trying to change how the game will actually end or not and WHY all this extra stuff is happening. Again the fact that there's so much up in the air about that in the first place is what makes this so interesting to me

@@ChocolateKieran so my theory at the moment is they said those worlds that split from fate do eventually die. And that’s what happens at the end of remake to our current iteration of the game. And at the end of this game sephiroth attempts to reunite all worlds in an attempt to cause something I haven’t gleamed yet(maybe to thwart fate from his own eventual loss with the energy of all the dying worlds?), but now we have a cloud who seems tangled up in knowing his world is fated to die but also might be persuaded by sephiroth to save Aerith. Waiting for other streamers like Maximilian Dude to put in his thoughts.
@@TheDienhart I think Sephiroth wants to unite all worlds so he can destroy them all at once. If he doens't then some version of Aerith who is conscious of all worlds will always try and find a way to fight back against him. It is not so complicated what happened with Cloud's issue with Aerith. Sephiroth did manage to kill her, but Cloud created in his subconscious that he did save her and that she is alive, while the rest (especially Tifa) saw that she is dead, even with the floor stained with blood. Cloud is completely broken in the mind, added to the fact that he is sometimes controlled by Sephiroth... This ending left me VERY cold. It's too bittersweet. I never played the original but knew of Aerith's death, however, it did manage to leave me with a horrible feeling for the group.
Did you see the rainbows while cloud was holding Aerith alive? If you look at every scene where Zack split and made a new timeline a rainbow appeared. Cloud isn’t just broken in the mind, he’s living in two timelines at once, one where he saved Aerith and one where he failed. That’s why he can see the rift in the sky and the others can’t

Aerith saved zack from the meteor and put him into a timeline where theres mako left (the flowers were blooming), every world zack was in there was no mako. so my theory is that she put zack in our world, because we know she can travel between them, also i think the white whispers were trying to stop cloud because aerith had to die so she can stop the meteor from within the lifestream like she did in the og
But if there are multiversal versions of Aerith then why is it our one needs to die if they can affect things from beyond the multiverse? So many questions at this point, I can't wait for the finale

And she put it back in the same place where he stole it from. Then gave him back an empty materia. Meaning she has altered the materia, or maybe absorbed its power, its made it redundant. This is going to be pivotal going forward in the story. Neither cloud nor sephiroth knows this. He thinks its the white materia that he is holding until the end credits where he put the white materia "away" and suddenly snapped back into reality and "found the black materia". it was always the black materia he was holding. his mind just blocked it out. Theres no alternate timelines or worlds. its a red herring.

yes, timelines and multiverses suck. But the story has been "Solved". Good news, there aint no different timelines and multiverses. Theres just the real world and then theres clouds mind world. there is the problem with the real world that cloud sees, its a blend of hallucinations and facts merged into one. Where his mind would blocks out events or downright alters them. Then theres the mind world, which you have clouds sanity represented by all the people he knows and considers important in life. Mainly represented by aerith and zack. And then theres the jenova cells which attack him from within turning him into a full black robe. These cells are represented by sephiroth. So when we see sephiroth "finding" aerith in the church, it means jenova cells are taking over and cloud is turning more and more into full loco coco black robe man. when we see aerith push him down the flowerbed, it simply means cloud is waking up from his mindworld. Not him sliding down another timeline or another alternate world. The different dogs, dont mean different timelines or worlds. It means you are in clouds mind and it is ever full of hallucinations and unimportant details are always different or changed. The rift isnt real. Nobody can see it other than cloud. Thats becoz the rift doesnt mean meteor or end of the world. Its already explained by one of the characters in clouds mind world. It means the end of the world...in the sense that its the end of clouds sanity. The rift represents the mental illness getting ever more prevalent and about to take over as he falls in the black pit of looney tunie world. its the end of his mind, his sanity. the final battle in ff7 remake and ff7 rebirth, did not happen in the real world. it happens inside clouds mind world. Where sephiroth is basically the jenova cells taking over but clouds sanity fights him off. This is why aerith could join the fight. Sephiroth literally hints at him: is all this even real cloud. Which cloud immediately brushed off. Ironically, game actually gave us the truth. In the real world, clouds mind blocks certain events or alters them. We see this with nibelheim incident, with zack. And we see this with Aeriths death. Cloud did not deflect sephiroth, or he was too late. Or he was actually the one who struck aerith. But his mind changes it, into him saving her. The black materia was also altered. He does not hold the white materia. He stole the black materia from her, she hid it behind her head. He grabbed it from her when she was hanging on the branch. Then they both fell down. We enter clouds mindworld. Where he cooks up a story about her giving the "white materia" to him, when in fact, its the black materia that he stole it from her. When she pushes him down, it means he leaves his mindworld and wakes up in the real world. There he finds aerith again. And he gives her back the "white materia". Which is ofc the black materia that he stole from her. Thats why she thanks him for giving it back to her. She puts it back in the back of her head, same place he stole it from. And then she gives a hollow one back. She altered the black materia there. Maybe took some of its powers away. Or neutralized it. This is going to be pivotal going into part 3. She gives it back to him. His mind still only sees white materia.
I think that there are now 3 timelines: Cloud, Zack and a new one where Aerith lives. If that is so, the end fight of game 3 will be with the whole party incl. Aerith & Zack! And that the ending of the FF7og game, is not the same the part 3 FF7. That they explaine more after the og ending. I also played Rebirth, the card game i don't like (i'm so bad at it), Dyne ending (why so difrent) and a nice Sid (but he says, i'm stop smoking and the og game he is smoking). Is this FF7 even at the same time, or is this why later. That Sephiroth has changed timelines, yes.
Yeah a lot has changed from the original game so this feels like an alternate timeline for sure, but there's MORe than 3 timelines, but definitely three main ones where we have Cloud, Zack & Aerith I agree. though it seems like Aerith & Zack can travel universes at will at this point, or maybe it's only when they collapse they have the ability to move on? First one is og ff7 the second one where the remake series take place, the third one is where zack lives and went to shirna, 4th is where Zack went to Biggs instead of shirna, 5th is where og ff7 aerith hid in the "dream" timeline where she went on the date with cloud, the 6th one where cloud deflect sephiroth attack to save aerith
The Cloud/Zack team up didn't really feel earned here. If it happened in Part 3, after Cloud remembers who he and Zack really are, then it would make sense and would make for a great fight. I wasn't feeling it here at all.
@@JaceWD I genuinely think Cloud’s mind breaking is more of a red herring than anything. People who’ve played the OG are so used to knowing Cloud is broken that it’s so easy to mislead by making you think that a lot of what he’s seeing is a product of his broken mind. Watching it back a few times I don’t think Sephiroth bringing up worlds reuniting and parting was for nothing, especially because of Zack’s comment at the end.
Cloud did the impossible to defy fate and saved her, like we played dreamed to do for more than 20 years, it’s Aerith herself that kept her death to happen.
Aerith succeeded in creating a timeline where cloud saves her. Cloud is seeing both timelines. He sees her alive and the rift in the world shes hiding from Sephiroth in. The final chapter will unite all the worlds in a "reunion" and they will all be reunited. This is the same Sephiroth and Aerith from the OG. Their consciousness has been jumping between timelines the planet is deaperately creating to survive catastrophe . Sephiroth keeps trying to ruin all of them while Aerith keeps trying to save the planet. Thats why hes been hunting her. "So this is where youve been hiding. On a world that has accepted its fate". Shes outmaneuvering him but cant beat him without us. This is a sequel trilogy. Aerith can only beat Sephiroth who knows all the moves, by first asking the team to help her break fate to create unknowns to beat him.
Even if he succeeded he has no way to switch timelines at will and Sephiroth can just easily kill her everywhere she would travel to basically what happens at the church when Aerith pushes him back into the main timeline
My interpretation is that the silent Aerith is in the lifestream, the one red feels the presence of. Whereas the Aerith cloud sees who speaks to him is mostly his delusions and denial, still retaining parts of the 'dream' reality from before.
The trilogy is LITERALLY a sequel to advent children, meaning that Aerith and Sephiroth knew what was going to happen and by challenging fate they created multiple timelines to prevent that from happening. So yes, there’s a big chance to see Aerith back in the third game.

All the softer variations of One-Winged Angel in all the other phases of the final boss fight were great, but hearing them go full-send for the actual final phase against Sephiroth himself, in his full OWA form right from the start and unlike in Remake, he's actually trying a lot harder in this fight, was awesome.
@@Andy-qn5xi Nah, I think we're gonna play out the Cloud vs Sephiroth duel. Remake ended in a fight against Sephiroth who was very clearly not trying to win, he was more or less just going through the motions and harassing them for the purpose of harassing them. It was also 3v1, and it ends with Sephiroth effortlessly deflecting a prolonged assault from Cloud and then just as easily disarming him. Rebirth ended with a 2 on 1 against Sephiroth where Cloud and Aerith gained the upper hand against Sephiroth who was very clearly actually trying to win, even if he's not going all-out or using his actual body. Either way, Sephiroth is forced to retreat after a while. Part 3 will likely conclude with a full-party battle vs Jenova and then Safer Sephiroth, switching between party members/teams, and then concluding with a true 1v1 of Cloud vs Sephiroth, now going truly all-out.

Your reaction to the block exactly mirrors mine. With all the timeline messing about, I genuinely thought we’d saved her. And then the bait & switch, the swerve….the ultimate troll that I feared was going to happen happened. No one will EVER convince me that Sephiroth isn’t the best, most evil, most hated, most hateable villain in gaming. I love how they bring back Bizzaro Sephiroth (as he was known in the original) but stop just short of pushing the boat out completely. Gotta save Safer Sephiroth (his final form) for the true final battle.
I’m pretty sure the timeline split and cloud is living in two of them at once, that’s why he can see a version of Aerith that’s alive, but she’s dead in the main timeline. They both saved Aerith & killed her at the same time. The one that helps us against Sephiroth is the one that lived

Zack man. I already loved him, but this guy is too pure for this world. I hope to god he gets a happy ending in part 3, because he went through it this game. And even through it all, he has this endless optimism that is so admirable. 😭😭😭.

I'm pretty sure Sephiroth was pretending to be Glenn the entire time. Glenn did actually die, but Jenova is able to become/transform into basically anybody, since Sephiroth has taken control of the Jenova cells in the robed men, he is able to manipulate and transform them into himself. Only this time, he transformed a robed man into Glenn.
Is it Sephiroth or Jenova itself? I guess more likely Sephiroth since he's in control of the black whispers. My assumption was that something or somebody using Glenn's body was working for Sephiroth but it could just straight up be him... Also mad it took me so long to realise Surruf was RUFUS. I only processed it after my playthrough watching things back 😂

There are quite a few AC tunes / references in the game. I feel like a lot gets missed in this game for those that aren’t familiar with other FF titles / media. The game is sold as a standalone but there is so much more if you have experienced the rest.

It's crazy how many 'worlds' we visited. The one with Aerith and Cloud on the date was different, and the one where Biggs was shot was totally different as well. The one where Biggs was shot, the chip bag had a Pug as the mascot. The 'worlds' we knew about had a Terrier or a Beagle. The one where Aerith and Cloud went on the date had a different dog on the chip bag as well.
There's at least 6 through this series, they just confirmed we're fully mulitversal within the lifestream
Sephiroth manipulated Cloud into saving her. In one timeline. Her dying is needed for Sephiroth to lose. When Cloud blocks Sephiroth's attack he's pushing with everything while Sephiroth has a blank effortless look on his face. Cloud is not strong enough to knock Sephiroth's sword out of his hand. Sephiroth let him. Sephiroth then goes on a speech about the worlds merging.
It was shown in the cinematic at the end of remake that Sephiroth in a one on one sword fight is just F'ing around with Cloud, blocking his attacks with his one non dominant hand then knocking Cloud's sword out of his hand with ease when he feels like it. Going off that I don't believe Cloud can block a downward falling attack from Sephiroth and knock his sword out of his hand.
He'll keep Aerith alive in one world then merge them for his victory to happen.
For those into theory crafting or just looking for clues / ideas as to where this game is going.. during the last Jenova fight cloud says “we’ve done this before, we can do it again.” I initially thought it was strange and maybe he was referring to having beaten different forms of Jenova before.. but, then Cloud can suddenly see Aerith when the others can’t + he can see the rift when the others can’t. Either he now exists in two timeline’s simultaneously or Aerith has gifted Cloud with her previous abilities to see things that are happening / have happened / going to happen (she could before her white materia was drained of knowledge).
That's interesting, I fele like if Cloud knew then his mind would break & he'd know his true self at this point right? I do think he's stuck between two timelines though... But that wouldn't explain the "We've done this before" line. This is all so interesting to me

@@UnknownGamer37 Sephiroth also has a deep connection to Cloud and Cloud has been having visions of the future ever since Sephiroth went back in time to mess with reality. We also know that Sephiroth has a major influence on Cloud's psyche while Aerith is mainly trying to heal his psyche. I would surmise that right now we are deep in unreliable narrator territory and are in effect being manipulated by Sephiroth heavily alongside Cloud's broken perspective.
As Sephiroth said, with clouded eyes he will never see the truth. And Jenova is able to take on the form of those you love, so Sephiroth's manipulation with Jenova's assistance can really mess with him. And with Red at the end feeling Aerith, we can confirm that at least one form of Aerith at the end is Aerith from the lifestream, potentially.
The issue is that flash of green/pain that Cloud had before seeing Aerith while everyone was silently mourning near the source of water. It's a clear indication that something is blocking Cloud's mind or manipulating his perspective, that's when Aerith appears and the music is eerie despite being Aerith's theme in parts.
The final nail in the coffin is the ending words too. No Promises at Journey's End. Aerith is dead and the next step in our journey, Cloud is potentially going to be even more of a broken mess then he was previously.
So we don't just have potential Multiverses, but we also have break in perspective of reality because Cloud literally has dementia. So we also have fake delusional realities to contest with and because we see a lot of what happens through Cloud, we're really screwed as viewers.
Maybe now Cloud himself want the reunion to happen to see Aerith again and willingly give the black materia to sephiroth, and maybe that what sephiroth is manipulating Cloud to do. He can’t force him since the outcome is clear, but make Cloud do it willingly😢😢😢
and in case you are still confused, it's Cloud's mind playing him tricks... we gonna see what really happened on the last part I guess.
I actually think he's stuck in two different timelines. Look at the rainbow effect when he's holding Aerith and she's alive. It's the same as when Zack shifted timelines. It's also probably why he can see the rift in the sky at the end
Watching your stream and then rewatching it again (lol), i now kinda have this theory where Aerith died on one timeline (where they’re surrounded by the lifestream, with barret, tifa, and the others) but Cloud saved her on the timeline where there’s that pink/green/yellow aura flowing around them. Cloud’s in between worlds hence why he can see Aerith but the others are in their own OG world. Like everytime you see that aura thing just think it’s the world where Aerith is still alive. It’s just a theory. I feel like i need to rewatch a few (hundred) more times before part 3 comes out. 😅
YES! That’s exactly how I felt thinking about it while editing, he saved her but that split the timeline it didn’t actually save her! She lives and dies at the same time. It’s the same way Zack has a split off timeline, but my question is… Why is it every timeline but our main one the world ends in?
but then the aerith at the end of remake was not from the original world aswell i guess because her last line at the end of remake was "The sky, I don't like it" when she looked up. Before she said "I miss it, the steel sky" and now she says "The sky, I don't like it" which is a more accurate translation of the japanese original. I think if it wasnt important to the story they wouldnt have changed it last minute.. the patch was also many GB big so i wonder... :D We will see.... Im so there for the wild ride! Cant wait

In the beginning of Rebirth, she even talks about how her memories were taken by the Whispers. She likely had instinctive reactions to Destiny's Crossroads and created a new timeline with Zack being alive in that instance.
I do believe that Cloud saved Aerith. The "dream" which isn't a dream, since Aerith did the same in REMAKE where she got captured by Shinra, is showing that's not Zacks timeline. Sephiroth's mention: "So this is where u've been hiding", seems like it's the OG Aerith. But what i noticed is, that after Cloud get pushed by Aerith and Sephiroth had his speech, that the forest seems off. It cannot be the REMAKE Aerith, he's giving the Materia. Aerith is saying: " We meet again". Nothing like someone would say if they fell down together. After that Cloud is crouching with many white whispers and after that we see multiple scenes with a green flu. The same flu we saw when Cloud did see the sleeping Aerith. And in this scenes, they didnt even fell down. Aerith stays up, but all happens right infront the temple. We see cait sith who apologizes to Aerith, and a Cid that navigates the Group somewhere, all while they are standing infront of the temple. The next moment the group is in the forest and barret is carrying Cloud till they arrive the place where Cloud was crouching. After that Barret says something like: "What did you see? Your eyes were moving like hell" I think that all of this is important. What if they never fell (in this timeline).. maybe that would explain why cloud still has the black materia at the end, cause maybe there he never gave sephiroth the black one. How this timeline was created? Maybe sephiroth did it the moment he destroyed the stuff where they were standing, and they fell down. We did see the same with Zack, sephiroth was the reason that Zack couldn't stay with Cloud and was send to another timeline. It's important too that Cloud is the only one who enters a white portal after he's saying Aeriths name. It seems like the same portal from the REMAKE Ending, right before the last Boss fight. Cloud definitely saved her in another timeline, that's why all of the party members are sad, except Cloud. I mean he remembered that she died, the moment they were sitting there. But then she shows up and we can see that he's smiling but he's sad at the same time. He clearly knows that Aerith is dead in his timeline right now, but he also knows that worlds can merge, since sephiroth told him. That's my guess.
They would never do the dead scene like that without reason tbh. All the snaps to the OG Version, and actual timeline over and over again. My guess is that he can see the crack in the sky bc of the dream scene. Aerith gave him the Materia, and after that the blank one. Maybe he shared all her knowledge with him.
FF is all about symbolism and i think theres a pretty deep meaning in the last scene, where we can see the blank materia. It was pretty dark and the moment cloud turns it, it gets brighter, with a cloud at the bottom and earth (aerith)at the top with his face reflecting right in the middle. So my guess is that they definitely will reuinite in P3. And that the last part will be pretty different than the OG. Zack still has to cure the coma cloud as we know, and there's still the sleeping Aerith. I think that this timeline will be the most important. Hints that his curing will be handled WAY different in P3, and not like it was handled in the OG.

You know Sephiroth is going extra when he's giving Rufus PTSD (Post Traumatic Sephiroth Disorder). "In the back- just like old times" I've gotta say is one of the *Coldest* lines in FF7 after Killing his Dad and OG Timeline Aerith.
Hello! Here’s an explanation as to what the heck is going on with cloud at the end
You notice how cloud can see the sky split? Saw black materia? Saw aerith?
Well, cloud actually DID save Aerith.. in his timeline. But Sephiroth wanted cloud to feel the grief of loss, so he merged our cloud into the timeline where aerith died, and that worlds cloud (the one from Zack and Biggs timeline) into the world where aerith survived, albeit in a coma.
So everyone else saw aerith die, where as cloud and “his worlds aerith” are still actively fighting against Sephiroth. Aerith is stuck in their original world and will use holy to combat the black materia alongside cloud also fighting Sephiroth.
It is also why aerith called the black materia a fake, in that timeline it was in fact a fake, but in the timeline Sephiroth sent cloud to it is not a fake, and it is the key to the timeline merger so he had to send cloud there, which was also perfect so he fell into despair of Aeriths loss. Too bad for Sephiroth he miscalculated aeriths resolve which is why he stated he underestimated her.
Sephiroth wants to be understood and thinks cloud is the only one who can, hence why he is specifically being targeted for all of this and given an explanation / the black materia to bring to Sephiroth. Aerith even comments on Sephiroth loneliness several times.
Ohh I concluded things slightly different while editing this... I do agree that Cloud split off two timelines by saving Aerith, but what you're saying here is that sephiroth switched him into one where she died anyway?
The only other thing I question is... Why was she alone in this other timeline? I really can't wait for this all to be explained because at this point I'm not sure how many variants of Aerith we've seen LOL. I like how they're keeping things confusing with Cloud's mind breaking to trick us also though
When Aerith stepped out of her portal like an absolute fucking badass I was so hyped.

I think it's both. He saved her but that split a timeline to one where she died and one where she lived. The same rainbow effect from where split choices happen was shown in the timeline where she lived for Cloud, but that world also seems to be ending since there's a rift the others can't see? It's interesting
From what I can gather, I think she IS dead in the main timeline BUT managed to transfer over to her AU self who was created when Cloud swung his sword. Why else would we be shown earlier in the chapters that specifically her and Cloud are connected to their AU selves to the point where Cloud is even pulled into his AU self and sent back. It's why we see her 'fade away' and then her 'AU' self who was shown to be awake previously is now sleeping and then she 'wakes up' similar to how she and Cloud 'woke up' in the Zack timelines. NOW, as to why Cloud can see her and no one else can......multiverse sheninigans? but I also think it has to do with Cloud being the only one behind the whisper wall when all this went down.
She's dead in the main timeline to fool Sephiroth. With Sephiroth thinking she's dead, she was free to activate Holy in the new timeline that was created.
Thus, when she stepped out of the portal Cloud was surprised and Sephiroth admitted that he underestimated her. Unfortunately it meant stranding her in a different timeline until the world's merge.

Great gameplay! But I have to say that Cloud never had Zack's memories. He himself created a Soldier/mercenary persona that he idealizes, so much so that he doesn't remember Aerith nor does he have the same personality as Zack. It is explained in the original and ultimanias.
As far as I understood when playing the OG and even just in this game, he took all his memories and information about Zack & combined it with his own memory to see himself as the Cloud he is now. If it wasn't for his knowledge of Zack, he wouldn't be acting the way he is right now. Unless you're saying I misunderstood that? He copies all of Zack's behaviour specifically not necessarily in his personality, but all his mannerisms. Also thank you! 😁

Cloud listened to Zack's stories about his SOLDIER years. And also, he watched Zack in action (especially in Nibelheim) so he can copy his mannerisms and his way of fighting with Jevona cells help.
Proof that he didn't have Zack memories is...in Rebirth, in Kalm, Tifa said the mayor's excited to have dinner with SOLDIER (Sephiroth&Zack) but Sephiroth didn't come. Meaning, Zack came. But Cloud didn't remember that cz he's a grunt not a SOLDIER. That's why he "huh?" at Tifa's story. And Tifa is confused too.
Also! The way Cloud hold his sword in his back mirrored what Zack does. If Zack's memories really came into him, he will put the sword 100% like Zack, not mirrored.
Cloud is his own person and he created his SOLDIER persona based on Zack.
Jenova cells trying to create fake memories based on Cloud's weakness and PTSD. And it backed up with Tifa's memories & reactions too. Cz she never straight up say anything about he truth. Until it's too late in OG.
Hopefully, this R Tifa will corrects everything before Cloud thinking that he's a fake puppet.
And we got Aerith's power too. So I guess Cloud won't broke like in OG.

Nice watching you play after having beaten most of the content myself too(not on hardmode yet normal was whooping my butt BRUTALLY sometimes😅) if you plan on doing the hard side content like all summons, and the protorelic questline, I think you’d fare better using clouds block when in or out of punisher mode and counterstance rather than dodging so much. The side bosses are fullll of AoE moves that dodging just won’t work well for lmao. Just a suggestion for if you try to tackle the side challenges, again great work Kieran!
1:50:00 synergy abilities causes him to be pressured, use them after you dodge with cloud. This was the easiest part for me. What wasn’t was the Cait Sith and Tifa fight because I forgot to equip Cait Sith and I refused to go through Aerith’s death again so soon.

Just finished the game, appreciate your breakdown and reaction.
To me there was three time lines, the original ff7, zacks timeline and rebirth time line. Zacks time line is to die. Zack I believe has now entered the rebirth time line.
The original time line and rebirth time line is now in sync with the main events that will play out in the third installment, I believe that Cloud has the ability to see both time lines as we see glimpses of him recalling a time line he did not live (weeping scene with aeirths death) The reason for me this being that Sephiroth through the enitrety of this game talks about a merger of worlds.
He talks about Cloud not ending in remake and how he will not let him end, those that play the original know that Cloud is about to have his internal battle but i think this is now magnified. We have seen all soldiers and test subjects have the potential to allow Sephiroth to be reborn. This is a nod as well to advent Children and as the scnese where the balck robed men, Glenn are vessels for Sephiroth. There was a reason advent children was released again before the game. There is a scene with Aeirth and Cloud where they how hands in a field of white and she says the exact same words as in the movie.
Cloud to me has become the perfect vessel, the merger that sephiroth talks about as he sees both time lines. I believe Aeirth is alive in the Rebirth time line in which Zack has now entered, by the cinematic with everyone not being able to see Aeirth is that of the original time line and the main party are now in that time line where Aeirth is dead. Hence the reason we see the parties POV when seeing Aeirth die/saved and see blood vs no blood scenes.
However since the two time lines are now synced and Cloud can see both timelines simultaneously, that is why he see's Aeirth in the end cinematic and the others do not. She is left behind to fight the unkown future through prayers and the white Materia she obtained from Cloud (from Zacks timeline) as the one in her time line has faded.
I believe that the Final third game will truely wrap things up with Aeirth being with Zac just like we see them at the end of advent children and Sephiroth being truly depleted.
The only thing that I can't quite get is the weapons. The weapons we see are quite differnet from the weapons we see in OG. Both have been stated to be summoned by the planet in times of grave danger, only difference is besides their looks is that the weapons in rebirth are fighting against sephiroth while the ones in OG were not. I have a funny feeling that last scene with the weapons is a for shadowing. Either Sephiroth will take over the weapons and transform them or just like the whispers, he will create his own which i hope is in the image of the OG weapons.
How does the third game play out? No clue, though the main events will still unfold i feel like the final battle where Sephiroth is truely beaten will be at the edge of creation. However this is just focusing on the main story.... That or Cloud just has an extreme case of PTSD.
Let us not forget they have made dirge of cerberus cannon as we see Neo, Whis and deep ground. Anyone whos played dirge and saw the ending knows that one Vincent is the true GOAT and two the return of Genisis and Angeal.
So far this is my assumption and speculation into the future of this trilogy. I would liek to think some of what i said is true lol
I agree with most of what you said, but it seems there are more than 3 timelines. Since Zack alone at the start of this video entered about 3 LOL. I do also think the Rebirth timeline has plit into two, one where Aerith died and one where Cloud saved her and Cloud seems to be stuck inbetween them both with the story continuing on in the one where Aerith has died. I really like the idea you have that Sephiroth WANTED this so he could use Cloud as a vessel... Nice call!

I think the Corel and Gongaga 'Weapons' are basically new baby Weapons created to recent events... im fuzzy on the timeline but i think they came to be after Seth went Craycray, no way are they the ancient ones sleeping in thew Northern Crater.

Another idea is that after Cloud deflects Masamune it is not Sephiroth that changes thing, he doesnt need to as there are plenty of whisers around to set thing back on the 'correct' course hence why there is no blood in on the Aerith we see but there is on the flashes of the other

I also thought that if she died, she would still be alive in the other timeline. But we saw Sephiroth coming after her there, too. So in the end, what was the point of defying destiny?
After watching it back, it does seem she IS alive in another timeline. Don't forget there's not just two timelines. Cloud split that point in time in two, one where he saved her and didn't so she's dead in one but alive in another, he seems stuck between worlds which is why he can see the rift in the sky AND Aerith. The fact Red can feel her too and showed evidence of having memories from a past/alternate world kind of suggests she is still there and Cloud isn't entirely crazy

I know I’m probably just blinded by my love for ff7 because I usually never give 10/10 to any game but I feel like I can give it to this game.
Easy 9.5/10 and a 9 at the very minimum. Might go up on a second playthrough but a few things frustrated me a little, like the options when you lose make no damn sense. I don't need a riddle to figure out how much progress I will lose on a retry LOL
Yes I know that obviously there are things to criticize but the good things about the game are so good that they make me almost completely forget all the slightest frustrations.

My theory is that Aerith isn’t a force ghost, but an actual living person. Sorta.
So whenever cloud successfully saves Aerith from sephiroth, we see the rainbow flares, than it cuts back to a dead Aerith. Simple enough right? There’s a universe with an alive Aerith, and one with a dead one, and we follow the dead one. But wait, cloud is rapidly flipping between the two. In fact, the only reason DEAD universe cloud has the motivation to go fight sephiroth is from ALIVE universe Aerith to go fight him. Than, after the battle, everyone else surrounds a dead Aerith, whereas CLOUD goes to an alive and very much okay Aerith. It’s not that we get a random switch to another timeline for goofs, this is what OUR CLOUD is seeing. It’s why he sees an alive Aerith who is walking and talking. This isn’t schizo cloud either: red XIII senses her, and she continues to watch as the plain goes by AFTER cloud would be able to hallucinate her. Ya see, as soon as an important timeline split happens, the timelines began merging (as seen with Zach, though the party manages to stop it). So whenever the timeline split happens, the aerith alive timeline gets sort of semi stuck within the main remake continuity, and cloud is stuck experiencing both. It’s why he can see the rip in the sky, but no one else can. Because the rip is in the aerith is alive timeline, which he is experiencing at the same time as the aerith is dead timeline. Notice how physical their conversation is. “Will you be okay getting back?” Implies one she has to physically go somewhere, and two and more importantly, she can be hurt. If she was a force ghost just popping by to say goodbye, that wouldn’t be a worry. We experience rapid whiplash between an alive and dead aerith timeline because that’s what CLOUD is experiencing, two timelines at once at melded weirdly due to be created at the same time as Sephiroths antics. I feel very strongly that this is what the devs were trying to imply, and I think I know how they might resolve it. We know from the end Zack intends to find a way to reemerge his timeline with the main remake continuity. If he successfully does so, that will give the mind of Aerith that doesn’t full have a body for everyone in the remake continuity be able to mesh with a very physical (but mentally likely brain dead) version that is very much touchable to everyone whenever the timelines merge. We know the devs for remake want to have their cake and eat it too: make a faithful remake that at the same time has big changes. This way they could do it perfectly. The actual game follows the same story as the OG, a world with a dead Zack and dead Aerith and cloud and the gang having to stop sephiroth, but the ending will have an alive Zack and Aerith, that way they can make those changes without changing the actual in game story.

This line just spells it out for you what actually happened, Aerith did die during that moment but Cloud thinks he parried the attack from Sephiroth to make her live, none of that actually happened though. Its while in gameplay everyone has Limit Breaks because of powerful emotions of her death, but Cloud. Who thinks he saved her. I dont think its a force ghost situation with Aerith at the end its just a fake Aerith on how Cloud sees her to keep going since he cant accept it right now that he failed, which is why shes still around did Cloud vs Sephiroth, it's all in his head. Barret asking if hes ok and able to handle going forward and Cloud saying he ready to go and will be just fine is fucked up, just take a note on how Barret and Tifa reacted to it, they were horrified. I dont think ignoring Tifa's emotions about Aerith's death is gonna be a good thing for Cloud and him not accepting it is just gonna make it worse, she's gonna snap. And now the Black Materia is just gonna corrupt Cloud more and more making it worse.

This game made me come out of it not sure of a feeling like i wasnt satisfied enough by the ending which i don't mean for it be taken out of context that thats a bad thing it felt like this particular ending was missing something compared to Remake ending which made you excited for whats to come i didn't really get that with this ending i think its due to how much stuff was thrown together at this finale is whats throwing me off

@ChocolateKieran My feelings doesn't come from the confusion cause I'm someone that's played the OG ff7 so I know plots points when I see them this ending is akin to how precisely disc1 ended my feelings more so comes from how much the build up was for it to end the same way disc1 of og ends granted there is alot that has changed enough for this ending but when I look at Remake and how that ended it made the leaving Midgard section of the og felt more forfilling fighting sephiroth seeing Zack ect. It was a mind-blowing experience with Rebirth I felt like it ended abruptly like some things were answered but I still don't have enough information to feel satisfied it really makes me seem like I'm hating but I truly love this game my concerns just lies more on where are they going with these plots points

All these questions around split timelines, whether Aerith actually survived in one, Zack .. Glenn, the weapons turning up way earlier than the original game AND the multiverse. There's so much that makes me wonder what we're in store for. When I say confusion I'm talking about if they're even trying to change how the game will actually end or not and WHY all this extra stuff is happening. Again the fact that there's so much up in the air about that in the first place is what makes this so interesting to me

@@ChocolateKieran so my theory at the moment is they said those worlds that split from fate do eventually die. And that’s what happens at the end of remake to our current iteration of the game. And at the end of this game sephiroth attempts to reunite all worlds in an attempt to cause something I haven’t gleamed yet(maybe to thwart fate from his own eventual loss with the energy of all the dying worlds?), but now we have a cloud who seems tangled up in knowing his world is fated to die but also might be persuaded by sephiroth to save Aerith. Waiting for other streamers like Maximilian Dude to put in his thoughts.
@@TheDienhart I think Sephiroth wants to unite all worlds so he can destroy them all at once. If he doens't then some version of Aerith who is conscious of all worlds will always try and find a way to fight back against him. I'm also waiting on Max to finish the game since I'm curious about what his thoughts are! Loved his FF7 Remake content
I was thinking cuz adventure children is not really a good ending/sequel to the og.. and this series would make the new timeline make advent children not happen and make it better.. with the og sephiroth traveling the multiverse

It is not so complicated what happened with Cloud's issue with Aerith. Sephiroth did manage to kill her, but Cloud created in his subconscious that he did save her and that she is alive, while the rest (especially Tifa) saw that she is dead, even with the floor stained with blood.
Cloud is completely broken in the mind, added to the fact that he is sometimes controlled by Sephiroth...
This ending left me VERY cold. It's too bittersweet. I never played the original but knew of Aerith's death, however, it did manage to leave me with a horrible feeling for the group.
Did you see the rainbows while cloud was holding Aerith alive? If you look at every scene where Zack split and made a new timeline a rainbow appeared. Cloud isn’t just broken in the mind, he’s living in two timelines at once, one where he saved Aerith and one where he failed. That’s why he can see the rift in the sky and the others can’t

Aerith saved zack from the meteor and put him into a timeline where theres mako left (the flowers were blooming), every world zack was in there was no mako. so my theory is that she put zack in our world, because we know she can travel between them,
also i think the white whispers were trying to stop cloud because aerith had to die so she can stop the meteor from within the lifestream like she did in the og
But if there are multiversal versions of Aerith then why is it our one needs to die if they can affect things from beyond the multiverse? So many questions at this point, I can't wait for the finale
but we know that there are different aeriths because our aerith put cloud into the other world so their aerith can give him the holy materia, because ours was depleted by the whispers@@ChocolateKieran

because the other worlds are already dead, theres no mako left. i dont think we saw 1 world other than our own that had mako left, we got 3 different zack worlds in the end

Cloud stole the black materia from aerith while she was hanging on the bridge. His mind twists and warps it into "her giving him, the white materia" when in fact, he was holding the black materia.
This is the materia he gave to her. And she put it back in the same place where he stole it from. Then gave him back an empty materia. Meaning she has altered the materia, or maybe absorbed its power, its made it redundant. This is going to be pivotal going forward in the story.
Neither cloud nor sephiroth knows this.
He thinks its the white materia that he is holding until the end credits where he put the white materia "away" and suddenly snapped back into reality and "found the black materia". it was always the black materia he was holding. his mind just blocked it out.
Theres no alternate timelines or worlds. its a red herring.

yes, timelines and multiverses suck.
But the story has been "Solved".
Good news, there aint no different timelines and multiverses.
Theres just the real world and then theres clouds mind world.
there is the problem with the real world that cloud sees, its a blend of hallucinations and facts merged into one. Where his mind would blocks out events or downright alters them.
Then theres the mind world, which you have clouds sanity represented by all the people he knows and considers important in life. Mainly represented by aerith and zack.
And then theres the jenova cells which attack him from within turning him into a full black robe. These cells are represented by sephiroth.
So when we see sephiroth "finding" aerith in the church, it means jenova cells are taking over and cloud is turning more and more into full loco coco black robe man.
when we see aerith push him down the flowerbed, it simply means cloud is waking up from his mindworld. Not him sliding down another timeline or another alternate world.
The different dogs, dont mean different timelines or worlds. It means you are in clouds mind and it is ever full of hallucinations and unimportant details are always different or changed.
The rift isnt real. Nobody can see it other than cloud. Thats becoz the rift doesnt mean meteor or end of the world. Its already explained by one of the characters in clouds mind world.
It means the end of the world...in the sense that its the end of clouds sanity. The rift represents the mental illness getting ever more prevalent and about to take over as he falls in the black pit of looney tunie world. its the end of his mind, his sanity.
the final battle in ff7 remake and ff7 rebirth, did not happen in the real world. it happens inside clouds mind world. Where sephiroth is basically the jenova cells taking over but clouds sanity fights him off. This is why aerith could join the fight. Sephiroth literally hints at him: is all this even real cloud. Which cloud immediately brushed off. Ironically, game actually gave us the truth.
In the real world, clouds mind blocks certain events or alters them. We see this with nibelheim incident, with zack. And we see this with Aeriths death. Cloud did not deflect sephiroth, or he was too late. Or he was actually the one who struck aerith.
But his mind changes it, into him saving her.
The black materia was also altered. He does not hold the white materia. He stole the black materia from her, she hid it behind her head. He grabbed it from her when she was hanging on the branch. Then they both fell down. We enter clouds mindworld. Where he cooks up a story about her giving the "white materia" to him, when in fact, its the black materia that he stole it from her.
When she pushes him down, it means he leaves his mindworld and wakes up in the real world. There he finds aerith again. And he gives her back the "white materia". Which is ofc the black materia that he stole from her. Thats why she thanks him for giving it back to her. She puts it back in the back of her head, same place he stole it from.
And then she gives a hollow one back. She altered the black materia there. Maybe took some of its powers away. Or neutralized it. This is going to be pivotal going into part 3.
She gives it back to him. His mind still only sees white materia.
I think that there are now 3 timelines: Cloud, Zack and a new one where Aerith lives. If that is so, the end fight of game 3 will be with the whole party incl. Aerith & Zack!
And that the ending of the FF7og game, is not the same the part 3 FF7. That they explaine more after the og ending.
I also played Rebirth, the card game i don't like (i'm so bad at it), Dyne ending (why so difrent) and a nice Sid (but he says, i'm stop smoking and the og game he is smoking).
Is this FF7 even at the same time, or is this why later. That Sephiroth has changed timelines, yes.
Yeah a lot has changed from the original game so this feels like an alternate timeline for sure, but there's MORe than 3 timelines, but definitely three main ones where we have Cloud, Zack & Aerith I agree. though it seems like Aerith & Zack can travel universes at will at this point, or maybe it's only when they collapse they have the ability to move on? So fascinating

First one is og ff7 the second one where the remake series take place, the third one is where zack lives and went to shirna, 4th is where Zack went to Biggs instead of shirna, 5th is where og ff7 aerith hid in the "dream" timeline where she went on the date with cloud, the 6th one where cloud deflect sephiroth attack to save aerith
The Cloud/Zack team up didn't really feel earned here. If it happened in Part 3, after Cloud remembers who he and Zack really are, then it would make sense and would make for a great fight. I wasn't feeling it here at all.

@@JaceWD I genuinely think Cloud’s mind breaking is more of a red herring than anything. People who’ve played the OG are so used to knowing Cloud is broken that it’s so easy to mislead by making you think that a lot of what he’s seeing is a product of his broken mind. Watching it back a few times I don’t think Sephiroth bringing up worlds reuniting and parting was for nothing, especially because of Zack’s comment at the end.
It ain't over for Aerith. Zack told Cloud to save her AFTER the event happened, not before. That's gotta mean something.
Cloud saved Aerith in the remake timeline and Seph or Aerith changed it.... In that moment!! It's freaking nuts!
Cloud did the impossible to defy fate and saved her, like we played dreamed to do for more than 20 years, it’s Aerith herself that kept her death to happen.
Aerith succeeded in creating a timeline where cloud saves her. Cloud is seeing both timelines. He sees her alive and the rift in the world shes hiding from Sephiroth in. The final chapter will unite all the worlds in a "reunion" and they will all be reunited. This is the same Sephiroth and Aerith from the OG. Their consciousness has been jumping between timelines the planet is deaperately creating to survive catastrophe . Sephiroth keeps trying to ruin all of them while Aerith keeps trying to save the planet. Thats why hes been hunting her. "So this is where youve been hiding. On a world that has accepted its fate". Shes outmaneuvering him but cant beat him without us. This is a sequel trilogy. Aerith can only beat Sephiroth who knows all the moves, by first asking the team to help her break fate to create unknowns to beat him.
Even if he succeeded he has no way to switch timelines at will and Sephiroth can just easily kill her everywhere she would travel to basically what happens at the church when Aerith pushes him back into the main timeline

My interpretation is that the silent Aerith is in the lifestream, the one red feels the presence of.
Whereas the Aerith cloud sees who speaks to him is mostly his delusions and denial, still retaining parts of the 'dream' reality from before.
The trilogy is LITERALLY a sequel to advent children, meaning that Aerith and Sephiroth knew what was going to happen and by challenging fate they created multiple timelines to prevent that from happening.
So yes, there’s a big chance to see Aerith back in the third game.

I would say your post is copium, but there is a timeline where Aeris and Cloud are alive with Elmyra as Zack left them.

Agreed I think the 2 world merged together where cloud can see the world where aerith is alive and his team are in the world where aerith is death
All the softer variations of One-Winged Angel in all the other phases of the final boss fight were great, but hearing them go full-send for the actual final phase against Sephiroth himself, in his full OWA form right from the start and unlike in Remake, he's actually trying a lot harder in this fight, was awesome.

The true final boss fight at the end of part 3 with Safer Sephiroth is going to be absolutely f**king epic.
@@Andy-qn5xi Nah, I think we're gonna play out the Cloud vs Sephiroth duel.
Remake ended in a fight against Sephiroth who was very clearly not trying to win, he was more or less just going through the motions and harassing them for the purpose of harassing them. It was also 3v1, and it ends with Sephiroth effortlessly deflecting a prolonged assault from Cloud and then just as easily disarming him.
Rebirth ended with a 2 on 1 against Sephiroth where Cloud and Aerith gained the upper hand against Sephiroth who was very clearly actually trying to win, even if he's not going all-out or using his actual body. Either way, Sephiroth is forced to retreat after a while.
Part 3 will likely conclude with a full-party battle vs Jenova and then Safer Sephiroth, switching between party members/teams, and then concluding with a true 1v1 of Cloud vs Sephiroth, now going truly all-out.

I love how they bring back Bizzaro Sephiroth (as he was known in the original) but stop just short of pushing the boat out completely. Gotta save Safer Sephiroth (his final form) for the true final battle.

I’m pretty sure the timeline split and cloud is living in two of them at once, that’s why he can see a version of Aerith that’s alive, but she’s dead in the main timeline. They both saved Aerith & killed her at the same time. The one that helps us against Sephiroth is the one that lived
