Your art skills have always been excellent, and I remember thinking that back when these videos were about painting Mediterranean ships. I really think you've come into your own since starting "Los Aztecas." I have to ask though, just how much pre-planning do you do before you actually start putting paint on a figure?

What a kind comment! Thank you very much. Actually I don't plan too much (I think) I don't usually go too deep into historical sources because there comes a point when they start to contradict each other, between two options, I choose the most interesting one! We don't need a PhD to play some games (although it always gives interesting knowledge to share in the post match) but I do look for something that inspires me and try not to be inconsistent with the historical reality. I prepare how the figures will be distributed in each base to make sure that there are no repeats or decide which ones have to be repeated and how, and I take a picture of each base to remember it. If they wear not uniform, I also write down in the handle what color each figure should be to ensure a good distribution, although this may change later depending on the final result. What I did keep in mind before painting the Aztec army was to start with the simplest figures and work my way up; first the light ones with few decorations and little clothing, then the Tarascan archers, later the Aztec warriors, then the eagle warriors... until reaching the commands, where I usually try to make small vignettes. OMG, you just made me realize that if I had a youtuber mentality I would have already recorded all of this to make a video! XD XD XD

@@MinisMyWay HA HA HA!! Well done! Actually, I was thinking more in terms of planning your color palette for each figure. You never seem to paint one color when, between shading and highlighting, you can use three. That's a lot of color combinations by the time the miniature is done! Come to think of it, maybe it's just as well that they are all even slightly different. Regardless, this army is going to look magnificent when it's complete! Waiting to see more.

@@justMikec Well observed; true, I usually use three colors. But sometimes the first color is the background primer, when I use black primer and translucent colors as if it were slap chop. Another thing I usually do is to choose the colors I'm going to use before starting if not with the army, at least with the unit; three red/orange, three yellows, three blues, a couple of greens.... Although the truth is that over time I have been making my catalog of favorite colors and I don't usually vary much if I'm not looking for a special and specific effect.

@@MinisMyWay Planning your color palette by the stand makes a lot of sense and this current video is a great example. LOTS of color everywhere and little if any repetition. The army is going to be wonderful when it's done!
