11th Century Crossbowmen in 15 mm (rescaled) - Reconquer Designs Spanish Crossbowmen

- In the absence of the commands, although I already have them painted, my list of the Kingdom of Sicily for the Art de la Guerre is already finished. However, this list also allows a somewhat later variant with Almogavars by making a few changes, and in this video I paint some crossbowmen for it.
The Almogavars were Catalan-Aragonese troops that coming from the Iberian Peninsula, after conquering Sicily went to the Eastern Roman Empire as mercenaries, where they ended up conquering Greece after being betrayed by their employers, the Byzantines. How infantry in relatively small numbers and without armor could destroy the Byzantine armored cavalry armies and survive in hostile territory? By fighting intelligently, with the determination of cornered wild beasts, and slaughtering the local population without mercy.
Although I have crossbowmen from Styriwar Miniatures as you may have seen in other videos, I wanted to try some Reconquer Designs figures and these crossbowmen allow me to have some units differentiated from the crossbowmen I use as “Sicilians”.
I bought the 28 mm STL and rescaled them to 15 mm; although there is also the version directly in 15 mm I preferred to buy the bigger one and make them smaller. Maybe one day they will be useful also in 28 mm.... I reduced them to 60% of their original size.
I used Vidnoz free AI for the narration.

You’ve done a great job on these. Thanx from Australia
Thank you very much, very kind
good job ,looks amazing 👌👍
Thank you!
You paint better at a 15mm scale than I do at 32mm :'( fantastic stuff mate
That depends on the observer. Thank you very much for your comment, very kind!
Reconquer creates very nice figs. I bought some 28mm prints a while ago. They reduced so nicely. I love the detail on the crossbows. And your painting of them just is exquisite. I'm waiting until after the holidays to take the printer plunge, but after seeing your crossbow unit, I may just do it today.
Yes, very nice and they fit well with the style of the Styriwar figures I made other units of my army with. Let's see how they turn out painted for you, show them us!
¡Excelente trabajo!
I think I’m going to get some of these. Amazing work as always. Thank you.
Thank you!
These are marvelous minis even before you touch them with a paint brush. Your wonderful painting skills just make them better. I really like the castings you've decided on, and only in this modern age can you produce these excellent models in 15mm. As always well done!!
It is true, even unpainted figures are spectacular. I'm getting used to the virtues of 3D printing, I'll have to paint some lead soon so I don't get abducted. Thank you very much for your comment!
Lovely poses and great job on these crossbowmen!👍👍
True, very lively postures, I like the miniatures to have “pathos”
Incredible work as always 👍👍
Thank you!
Very nice figures
Thank you very much, very kind
Looks awesome! Curious what brushes you used
Thanks! My main brushes are the Artix PP250, and also the PP249 which are the same but with very long hair. They are synthetic and not very durable, but you can find them for 3 € for a blister of 3, from 0 to 3/0, so the price makes up for the durability. Also, the long hair makes it easier to keep paint out of the ferrule. I use them for almost everything, but if I need even more detail I use The Army Painter Hobby: Super-Detail and I even have some Wargamer: The Psycho that I hardly use but I like the name.
I prefer 15 mm compared to 28 , Cheers
Each scale has its function, but I also enjoy the 15 mm much more, thanks for your comment.
I have been looking at this range to create a crusader army, l think they are amazing. Can l ask why you did not just go for the 15mm range? Was that because you wanted the option to print at 28mm in the future?
Partly yes, I didn't want to limit myself. The 15mm figures are pre-supported only and I prefer to have the files “clean” for any future use, and I guess it will be better to always scale down rather than up.
@MinisMyWay I recently found you and subscribed to you. I really appreciate the prompt response.
@@davidmartin6265 Thanks to you, that's what I started the channel for, to be able to exchange with other miniature fans, so thanks for your comment, I hope you enjoy the subscription, thanks for that too!
