Our side arms came equipped with Trijicon night sights from the factory along with extended slide releases, I upgraded mines with Trijicon HD night sights. In 2017 our Department told us that for some reason all of the G19s with a serial #prefix of FUFxxx were being replaced, I was issued a new Gen 3 G19, I was able to purchase my previous G19 for $300 which I jumped on. I carried my new G19 up until I retired in 2022 after a 33 yr career, I bought that G19 for fair market value of $250 !!! Being retired I find myself carrying either a G19 or G26 mainly, sometimes if I'm dressed up I'll a M&P Shield Plus since it's a lil more streamlined. I'm basically a Diehard Glock purist but I fell in love with the Polymer 80 frames due to the ergonomics, so I'll occasionally throw in a PFc9, IMHO G19 is the way to go !!!
I drive a Camry and only own Glocks. I've had a great history with both. If something is as dependable as that vehicle and those firearms, I see no need to change.
A generation 3 Glock 19 was my was my first handgun that I purchased in 2001. I have few CZs now and I love them, but the Glock 19 is by far the most shot. Only thing I ever did to it is replace the recoil spring (after many rounds of firing) 2008 and 2013. Also upgraded its sights. Glocks are always there to work, nothing else.. and they do it well.
The ONLY upgrade I did to my Glock 19 was to add XS Big Dot Night Sights. Ameriglow are also good sights at a lower price. It still runs flawlessly after all these years. I shoot it accurately as well. It fits my hand. I recently found an almost new gen4 Green G19. I bought it because it was green. I like green. I still drive my old 2002 Chevy Silverado. I recently gave it an overhaul of the suspension, breaks, body work, and paint. The engine and transmission are still just fine. When they need help, they will get it and we will keep on rolling. My everyday pocket knife is a Case Sod Buster, full size. The blade is getting smaller, noticeably, due to constant sharpening. It gets used ALL the time, doubles as a skinning knife as well. It is at least 15yrs old. Some day, I will be forced to replace it, but not yet. I am not opposed to new things. I get them only when NEEDED, mostly. I have an old Remington 700 BDL 30-06 that is quite aged. It is accurate, I know that gun, my load, and my capabilities. It puts wild hog meat in the freezer. I don't need a new one. My new guns are 4 AR-15 rifles I bought for my wife and myself, so we have one primary, and one for in case it is needed. Firearms are tools to me. If they work absolutely fine, they do not get retired. Guns that I cannot like or stand, well, they get sold and move to a new home for someone else's love. Everyone has their own motivations, likes, dislikes, needs, etc. Life is short. Make it count.
I am former USMC Combat Marine, and I retired after 21 Years of service. I got job as an Armored Transport Messenger and after looking at pistols available I got the Brand New Glock17 to carry. Later the Glock19 came along, and I brought it and I have no regrets to this day with both firearm's!!! Yes, I know they are lighter slimmer and pistols available!!! Like you said, BUT!!! I will stay with my Glock19!! Last Colion not to make you angry but there is no such thing as a perfect Concealed Carry Pistol that fit all firearms shooters Period!!!
Over the last 20 years I've owned many pistols, still have a few. The Glock 19 gen 5, front serrations and no half-moon cutout on the front strap, is my favorite gun and my daily carry.
I recently got a Glock 17, I come from a smaller size Bersa Mini-Thunder .40 cal I miss the bigger recoil of the Mini-Thudner but I felt it was a boy's gun, wanted something bigger and more stable for accuracy hence the Glock 17.
@@Profile.4 just because I replace a glock with a S&W ? LOL. wow you fanbois are really dedicated aren't you ? FYI, when you buy a glock, you get plastic sights, a plastic guide rod, a crap trigger, with absolutely no ergonomics. But sure, you can go and spend double what you paid for the glock to upgrade to the point of what you get from an out of the box S&W. To each his own.
I have only owned Glocks, and have owned literally every model of Glock in every caliber over the last 20 years. I carried a Glock 26 for about 4 years and a Glock 19 for about 10 years. For the first time a few years ago, I purchased a non Glock firearm. It was a Ruger LCP Max. I didn't trust it. So I ran 500 rounds of FMJ through it, and 100 rounds of Hornady XTPs through it. I didn't have a single malfunction. After that, I trusted it. It weighs only 15 ounces fully loaded with 13 rounds. It is SOOO much nicer to carry than my Glock 26. You don't realize how big of a difference it is until you do it. Now that said, if you choose to carry any other firearm, DO NOT TRUST IT until you put 300+ rounds through it and observe no failures (assuming it was cleaned and lubricated properly before the 300 round test starts). I require every firearm to prove itself to me before I trust my life to it. I trust my life to my Ruger LCP Max. Also S&W just came out with a bodyguard 2.0 that is basically the same weight/size/capacity as the Ruger LCP Max so that's another option now as well.
I’ve carried a Glock 19 since 1990 when we transitioned from S&W Model 64. I own 5 total and after all this time and muscle memory there’s no need to change. The 19 for winter and the 26 ankle for summer.
If there's ever a large-scale SHTF scenario, especially if I'm away from home and can't get back, my Gen3 G19 is the firearm I want on my person. During a time like the one we're currently living in, I don't leave home without it. We should actually feel grateful that there is a concealable pistol that, in addition to actually shooting really well, has unparalleled aftermarket and supply-chain support and an unmatched record of reliability. When Mad Max had a G19 in Fury Road, I thought it was about the most realistic part of the movie!
My go-to is a Glock 48 MOS w/ Shield Arms 15+1. Literally a T-shirt and shorts carry gun, and when the colder months hit, I swap to SA's +5 extension mag.
"You could probably drop it from a helicopter and it would still work.." 4:17 When i went to the Glock Armorers course in 1993 - they literally dropped it from a helicopter onto a paved parking lot, picked it up, loaded it and fired it. Until I went to that course you could not have given me a free Glock. I bought one after the course and have owned no less that 6 since then. BTW, I carry a Glock 19 concealed today. One of my rationales is that when you use a weapon it will go into the evidence room until you get it back. All the cops will play with it if it is cool, rare, interesting, etc. Glock 19 is none of those. Do you really want Sheriff's bubbas playing with your Kimber Super Duper Elite Run Faster Jump Higher $1500+ pistol?
I have had a G42 for years. Last year I looked and compared the top manufacturers. For me the choice was G19, Olight weapon light and Holosun green circle dot. I love it. Plus having mastered the G42 cleaning and maintenance are a snap.
My G19 has been my conceal carry for 5 years and I don’t plan on changing it. Lightweight, reliable, and manufactured with fewer parts to clean/replace. From a practical standpoint, Glock is the best pistol that has ever been produced
@@professionalpookie beretta 9mm, Hkusp, 1911, sig p226, desert eagle, and probably 10 others I don’t know the name of. I also build aircraft weapons for a living
Cheap reliable aftermarket magazines for training, cross compatibility of magazines, cross compatibility of holsters within different models and frame sizes, the perks of carrying a Glock are numerous. The boring reliability and versatility of Glocks is what brought me back to carrying a 19/26 many times.
Same, here. That’s why I am not interested in the g43x or the g48. I had an sig p227, but extra oem magazines are expensive and aftermarket mags suck. With magpul making glocks mags really help supply and price. And my duty gun for work is a g17. I hope someday Glock magazines become the universal magazine like ar15 magazines.
After purchasing my first handgun it was an old pos .40 S&W pistol that isn't even manufactured anymore, I was recommended to get a Glock 19. So I waited for tax return and went to my local gun show, while there I was browsing and when I saw one that had a stars and stripes finish on it. I knew right then that was the one I want and have been carrying it ever since. Me personally, I love it. It's easy to take apart, clean, and all in all just feels perfect every time I do my practice draws before going to work. And also, love your videos Colion. ❤
I carried a Glock for 20 years as a police officer. When I retired I began exploring other platforms as a firearms enthusiast. Now that I've returned to law enforcement...I'm back to a Glock 19 as a carry gun since the manual of arms is the same as my duty gun. At first I've noticed my qualification scores were adequate, but not excellent. I am proficient with any handgun platform I pick up, but when it is a life and death situation, I want to be more than proficient...I want to have a mastery! You can't do that by carrying a DA/SA carry gun three days, then a SAO gun 2 days, then a micro gun two days, and a Striker Fired duty gun. A unitizied carry system of "Duty carry, Compact Carry, and Micro Carry" Glock 17, Glock 19, Glock 43 makes sense at this point of my life. I'm shelving my collection of carry guns and moving to a platform specific methodology.
Nothing wrong with the gen 3, in fact I think the generational differences since gen 3 have been so small as to be negligent. And the up-side is how many companies make parts for gen 3 glock.
The Glock 19 has been my overall favorite handgun since 2007 when I bought my first Glock which was none other than a Gen 3 G19. I've since upgraded to a Gen 5 G19 MOS and the G19 remains my EDC choice.
my firs gun was a Glock 19 gen 3, I have got few and sold a few since then, my Glock 19 has never left, I love that thing, its basic I don't have all the bells and whistles but it WORKS . Looking forward in gettin the Glock 43X MOS this week.
I bought my first Glock, a brand new Gen 3 G23 over 10 years ago. I bought a Wolf 40 to 9mm conversion barrel so it's also a G19. That Glock fits me perfectly. I can look at a spot, close my eyes and point the gun at the spot, then open my eyes and the gun sights are perfectly aligned on the spot I looked at before closing my eyes. That makes the gun perfect for me. No other pistol fits me as well. I love the factory sights. I did add a Ghost disconnector that made the trigger even better. I don't carry the G19, but it's the best shooting pistol I've ever owned.
G19 size is kind of in the sweet spot. New micro 9’s might be slightly less bulky in the waistband but the tiny pistols aren’t nearly as comfortable to actually shoot.
I carried my Gen4 19 MOS for years up to the point I wanted something smaller but not sacrificing much because I carry when active as well. I purchased the 43x MOS then picked up some Gen 3 S15 mags and the mag release. I’ve ran thousands of rounds through that little gun and my 19 is the house gun. I also own a few other Glocks as well. Reliability is essential and very important imo, I have a few other manufacturers but my 43X gets the carry time every time.
Talk to a gunsmith or even the rental counter at a shooting range and ask them which guns have the least problems and are the most reliable... It's still the Glocks. Even though other guns might claim to be as reliable as Glock, it's simply not true when you look at guns with very high round counts on them.
S&W just released a new "Bodyguard 2.0" in .380 that weighs 9.8 ounces with 13 round capacity. It will compete with the Ruger LCP Max .380 which weighs about the same and has the same capacity. These two are the kings of carry in my opinion. This is from someone who has carried a Glock 19 for about a decade previously.
Since you aren’t going to train significantly w/the bg why not just do the 30 super carry plus for $100 less and it’s more effective? Genuinely curious.
I've carried and used a Bodyguard .380 (the 1.0) and I thought it was terrible to shoot. It bucks way to much for such a tiny round because the pistol is to short and light and the round itself is obnoxious. I found it to be the same level as obnoxious as the .40 in a S&W full frame. To much acting up for not enough gain (aka to much recoil/muzzle climb for no real reason to accept it). I went to a 9mm sub compact because it's just hands down a better shooter.
Might have to check one of those bodyguards out. I’m more than happy with my 43x w/psa 15+1 mags but before that there was a time when I was more than happy lugging around a g19 or m&p 15+1 for over 15 years concealed every day 😂. I’m fine with carrying 380 I’ve just never primarily carried one because most are single stack and I have a phobia or an imbedded primal fear of running out of ammo that won’t let me carry a pistol with such low round capacity. But I can do 13+1 😂
@techmarine83 the only 380 pistols I've shot that didn't "buck" too much for the size of the round were the 1911-ish types like the Sig P238 or the Springfield 911, probably due to those being either steel or aluminum frames (Don't remember which metal Sig uses, but the 911 is an aluminum frame). I, too, generally recommend folks look into the subcompact 9 mm's before they look at the 380 options.
Been shooting handguns a long time. Never cared for GLOCKs of any type...until I bought a G42 a few months back. I decided to try a few G19 clones and decided to get the OG, new version, G19 Gen5 MOS. Wow! Enuff said!!
Like the G45 more than the 19 but the 19 AIWB conceals the grip better and is more comfy. Im a retired LEO and I can carry whatever I want but I remain carrying a Glock. Why? Because they are simple, reliable, and they never let me down and got me home safely every morning.
I consider the G19 to be a mandatory addition to everyone's pile of guns. It's third in line in my choice of carry guns behind my 365xl and my P-01. It sits in a backpack with a couple factory 24 round magazines (and all the appropriate holsters) ready to go out the door if I ever have to hurry. It's one of those guns I bought with a case of ammo to stash away for emergencies.
I put a 3 1/2 lb trigger in my 19. After that in my mind it’s hands down the best carry gun available. I have owned, and still do, a variety of pistols in various calibers.
@@motorsport2knope. The staccato failed the drop safety test of Garand thumb. 🤷♂️. Staccato is a competition gun, not a duty gun, no matter who buys or who they sell to. It belongs on the flat range.

100% agreed. Now just don't forget Ruger LCP MAX did it first. Our family has three of them and each one has over 500 rounds through it with zero malfunctions. Also the Ruger costs about $200 cheaper. Now if money is no object, and you like the feel of the S&W, by all means, get it.
@@danLTa1 hellcat pro and echelon are new unlike Glock 30 years old but people have put thousands of rounds threw them without cleaning and they run great 👍🏽
I never had a Glock or shot one before my Dad passed. Once he passed I inherited his Glock 27 Gen 4. At first I wasn't crazy about it but after putting a few rounds through it I love it. It's now with me everywhere I go. Besides the sentimental reason of it being my Dad's, it replaced my old favorite from the late 80's a Charter Arms Bulldog .44 Special.
My go to is a Glock 23 that I bought in 1990. Along the way, the sights were upgraded and the springs and extracter were replaced after 25000 rounds. She may have some miles on her, but so do I and we both run just fine.

My nightstand gun is a Glock 17. I bought a 19X last Sunday for my combat pistol. I love them both and I feel extremely confident in their reliability. I don’t get all the Glock hate out there. That being said, my carry gun is a S&W Shield Plus and I love and trust it equally. Sometimes I carry a S&W snub nose revolver.
Have the HCP/HCPComp, the 365 all variants, the CR920XP, the Shield Plus, even the 43x and 48… I still CCW my Glock 19 with a TLR7. I’ve tried to replace the thing so many times and I’ve found that nothing feels right to me anymore. I love the angle, I love the way it carries. It’s just right. If you end up carrying a TLR7 Sub on a slimline you end up just realizing it’s pretty similar to the TLR7x/hlx. The size savings go away pretty much entirely.
I carry a Glock 48 (Slimmer Glock 19) and I absolutely love it. Given, I sent it off to ATEI for some heavy modification (stippling, more and wider groves, porting) and I run an Apex Tactical trigger (same trigger weight, better action, and it adds weight to the slop). And a HoloSun 507k to round it out. Same reliability, the porting really cuts down on the "flippy-ness", and the Shield arms mags allow 15 round capacity. The slim frame makes it easier to conceal, which is really nice. Does the Glock "need" any of these modifications...no. But, do they make it much nicer and easier to shoot...yes. And, in the unlikely situation I ever need to use it, well, fractions of a second matter, so why not? I shoot 200 rounds every monday, and I have never had any issues. At the end of the day all you need is a gun that fits you, then go spend your money on ammo and training. That will make more of a difference than any mods or upgrades will. Remember: Train, train, train...then train some more. And always start your training sessions with the basics. You can never train the basics to much. T-rex arms has a really good free pistol training target that takes 90 rounds. It really is the most important thing.
Love the 19 but prefer the same size 23 in .40. No matter which shiny new toy I get, I always come back to the 23 (and in some cases it’s baby brother 27). Like an old pair of jeans, it fits me perfectly. Run what ya like, just train and get comfortable w/ your carry rig.
Bought one, HATED it for summer concealed carry. Way too thick and printed like crazy with shorts and a t-shirt. Shield Plus fits the bill perfectly with nearly same capacity.
Love the 19, but it is bulky. G43X with 15rd mag is tough to beat. Much more comfortable to carry and the aftermarket 15rd mag with the same footprint as the stock 10 round is a game changer.
@@notdreadyet33 the shield arms mag, requires the metal mag release. What are you talking about? Been carrying Glock for 25 years. You’re even more of a fool for using anything that’s not OEM, on your edc. You’re the one who tries to do the drill but it jams
I know this sounds FUD-like but I have carried a West German P228 since 1991 and still love it, I do have a G19 (and have had one since 1988) through the Gen5. The ergos for me are just with the P228 along with the many thousands of rounds, been rebuilt by SIG twice now. Carry what you love, love what you carry.
Out of all my guns and I have a few for concealed carry my go to is a 1911 officers model in .45 acp. Rock solid and reliable. If I had to go with a shorter barrel I load 230 gn semi wadcutters.
It's crazy to think that the Glock19 has been around so long. I remember my friend telling me about his dad getting the Gen 1 as a Customs agent. Bank when CBP was California Border Patrol . Before the dark times. Before the Empire
Carried my Glock 22 .40 on the street for 10 years, and another 10 years in private practice. Now, my EDC is the Glock 43x (Custom). My duty range training gun is my Glock 23 hybrid, yeah, .40 cal and switch to 9mm with PSA Dagger upper. Works for me.
My Glock 19 is still one of my top 3 carry guns. It doesn't look anything like it did when I bought it 15 years ago. But my P365 and Staccato are working their way into the rotation more and more.
The user serviceable simplicity sells it for me. As a high round count shooter, it's sure nice to be able to change extractors, firing pins, springs ejectors and locking blocks within a minute or less with just a 3/32 punch pin. I can take a complete Glock 19 gen 5, take it completely apart to all of its 34 components and put it back together in 3-5 minutes for the entire process with just a punch pin. It's that easy. I can't do that with my P30L, VP9, P226, FNX45, M&P 2.0, P10C, SP01, P320, P365XL, Shield 45, Bodyguard 380... nothing else comes close to the ease of detail stripping a Glock. That's why Glocks are perfection. Not that you can customize it exactly how you want or the inexpensive OEM magazines or that everyone and their grandmother cerakotes or mills Glocks, but the simplicity of the weapon system.
I started with a Taurus as my first gun, I learned that Glocks work all the time in a class I took where my Taurus failed me multiple times after shooting 1000 rounds in 2 days, right after that class I went out and got me a Glock 19 gen 3 that I used in EDC for 15 years. Not until 4 years ago when I got a Sig 365 XL and put the Holosun on it since I'm getting older and I cant see the front sight as well as I used to. The Sig 365 XL is slimmer than the Glock 19 and was slightly cheaper than the Glock 19 MOS. So now my EDC is the Sig 365 XL with magguts to make the 12 round magazine be a 15 round magazine and I carry 2 17 round magazines for back up.

If they work absolutely fine, they do not get retired. Guns that I cannot like or stand, well, they get sold and move to a new home for someone else's love. Everyone has their own motivations, likes, dislikes, needs, etc. Life is short. Make it count.
Next upgrade should be a glock 29.
I change trigger on all my Glocks. Factory trigger doesn’t do it for me. Ghost link helps but Apex makes great trigger replacement imo.

I recently got a Glock 17, I come from a smaller size Bersa Mini-Thunder .40 cal I miss the bigger recoil of the Mini-Thudner but I felt it was a boy's gun, wanted something bigger and more stable for accuracy hence the Glock 17.

G19 for winter carry and G26 for summer carry. Glock is the AK of carry pistols.
I make that exact comparison all the time!
Glock is the AK of firearms? Don’t tell my AK that?
Man I do the exact same setup. 19 in the cold months 26 in the hot months. RMR cut slide with the red dot on both.

Same. If I could only have one pistol would be my Gen 5 26 with the +2 mags.
I've come full circle back to a Glock 19....so yeah I'll say that to me its the gold standard
I own a plethora of firearms and I agree. Love the G19
Glock 19 Gen 3 all day. Stuck with it in Commie California, but I still love it. Never a jam. Just runs.
Don't hate on my G19!! Although my Beretta 92F is still my overall favorite handgun.
I carried a 92FS as a civilian LEO in the mid 90's. I still have it to this day.
I like my Beretta way better than my 45 and probably Glocks everyone is talking about.
can you throw a trigger system and barrel into the beretta for dirt cheap and still have it be reliable though? honest question
My first duty weapon was the 92F
You conceal carry a 92FS?
G19 size is kind of in the sweet spot. New micro 9’s might be slightly less bulky in the waistband but the tiny pistols aren’t nearly as comfortable to actually shoot.
There are no solutions, only trade offs
James Yeager said that the Glock 19 GEN 3 is the AK 47 of pistols. I agree. 🇺🇸

I have 3 G19 gen 3. And a 5-gallon bucket of mags. When it's pouring rain I'm the only guy at the range still having fun.
Ummm ok????
Several guns are just as or more reliable as Glock. CZ PO1 for one.
But I can do 13+1 😂
Ruger is trash and let's not forget that Bill Ruger is the reason we have 10 round magazine capacity in California and he wanted it nationwide.
A Hellcat RDP was my first EDC and I love it, it's been freakishly reliable and accurate compared to others I've tried. Golden age indeed!
Been shooting handguns a long time. Never cared for GLOCKs of any type...until I bought a G42 a few months back. I decided to try a few G19 clones and decided to get the OG, new version, G19 Gen5 MOS. Wow! Enuff said!!
I chose the 43X for exactly the reasons you stated. And in the immortal words of good old Paul Harrell, "it fits my hand better."

Yes, absolutely. I've comeback to the glock 19 after trying others everytime.
This video is a perfect example on how to talk trash on Glock without talking trash.
To me no. The best CC is the 43x.

I wouldn't say the G19 is the king of concealed carry, but it's still the king of multi-role, SHTF pistols.
40+ years. Still no Glock killer...
yes there are. Is called Walter PDP
My carry is a Glock 43 with Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel ammunition and an extra magazine, totaling 13 rounds
