      I sympathize with him to an extent - the attachment of the magnet could be considered assault/battery since he was in his vehicle (depending on jurisdiction). It could also be considered illicit tampering with a motor vehicle (in others).
      That is, after all, when this situation really takes flight - the magnet. From Karen's perspective, it's very possible that he just heard a loud ***THUNK*** after being verbally accosted, and he took an adrenaline dump thinking he/his vehicle were under attack.
      Personally, I find myself (likely the only person here) questioning the legality of Cart Narc's actions after this video, as well as his conflict avoidance vs. provocation skills. Not the Karen's...

      @chemomancer 2 роки тому +15

      I wouldn't be in awe. My personal theory is that the magnet is what triggered this event. I believe the Karen got in his vehicle, heard a loud 'THUNK'. After just being verbally accosted by somebody over a minor action - the context causes an immediate biological response in his brain: "I am being attacked", causing an adrenaline dump. Emotions run high, judgement runs low - he is forced to choose fight or flight. Flight isn't an option - based on where Narc is standing, he is obstructing the road, and lethal force isn't warranted yet. Karen gets out - intent on using the other remaining option - only to realize there is no threat.
      Unfortunately - this doesn't change the fact that he's now pumped up on very powerful hormones. Where the lack of a threat should calm him - instead the realization that 'he's being f*ed with' only infuriates him more. The rest is history.
      Depending on jurisdiction - the magnet could well have been considered a form of assault/battery, given Karen was in the vehicle at the time.

    My boyfriend and I were at Target the other day and this cart that someone left out was just sitting in the middle of the parking lot. A freak gust of wind kicked up, started a little litter tornado, went toward the cart, and sent that cart at like 10mph into someone’s Compass. Dented the hell out of it. I felt so bad for whoever’s car that was. My boyfriend grabbed it and took it to the corral after taking our own cart back so it wouldn’t happen to someone else’s car. If you don’t take your cart back when you are perfectly able to, you’re an ass.

    The shopping cart is the ultimate litmus test for whether a person is capable of self-governing. To return the shopping cart is an easy, convenient task and one which we all recognize as the correct, appropriate thing to do. To return the shopping cart is objectively right. There are no situations other than dire emergencies in which a person is not able to return their cart. Simultaneously, it is not illegal to abandon your shopping cart. Therefore the shopping cart presents itself as the apex example of whether a person will do what is right without being forced to do it

      Where I live people get shot for NOTHING, you can't just do this, no matter how right and justified you are, you're risking yourself, other people around you, and the store is liable for whatever happens on their property so doing this actually hurts them more than helping them. The employees love it, naturally, but if the corporate office saw this? They might sue him for endangering blah blah or whatever, they don't like heros, they like order and as little legal issues on their property as possible. I can just see stuff like this turnign into another grocery store shootout, over carts. I just put other people's stuff away for them without saying anything, sometimes you have to just be the bigger person and clean up and NOT gripe and complain or be passive aggressive, because some people will actually stab you for that, they'll stab you for $20 or because you looked at them the wrong way on the bus, public confrontation is very serious, it's just not funny like it was in the 90s on Punk'd. It's definitely not worth youtube videos. Like if you're gonna get shot over something, why not go help tortured little girls in 3rd world countries, or go protect animals being poached in Africa, or go stop the drug empires in Columbia? What's badass about risking everything, and other people around who didn't even consent to be involved if bullets start flying, over "people are lazy and I'm annoyed having to put their stuff away". If I was prepared to be killed I would be doing actual brave things and helping people who need help, not rounding up a few carts. That would be pathetic to die known as "the cart hero who made sure everyone put their carts away so rich brats won't scratch their pretty cars". There are children being shot in the face for standing up against actual tyranny, this is not a battle to be choosing.

      They harass people to rile them up for views, what they are doing never helped a person like me who was actually in that position. Him helping would be returning other peoples carts without harassing customers with a camera in their face for UA-cam views. That parking lot was dangerous enough without a cart narc riling people up to drive crazily away, or him running away between cars constantly.
