Great save on your button down shirt! Your hubby’s top is nice too! You had me laughing when you showed the first one because of your expressions. 😂 As Grace said, always sew the band to the right side of the fabric. I think the photo threw you off because it was showing how it looks after it’s been stitched down and pressed upwards. I hope you have a great vacation! I have one coming up too. Thanks for sharing!

Hey Talisha!!! Yes ma’am--that first top was more than a hot mess! Lol 😂 Yes definitely know now to always sew on the right side. Right sides together. Hope you have a nice vacation. ⛱️

OOOH I'm going to pick up that stain remover from the Dollar Tree! Thanks for the tip. For neckbands, always pin the folded band to the RIGHT side of the neck matching raw edge and notches. Right sides together. If you look at the illustration, the 2 notches are PRE sewing and the band is pinned to the right side of the neckline. Then it shows the band AFTER sewn all in the same drawing. The pins make the illustration confusing. You did a great job with the maroon top. You may be able to unpick the pucker and then stretch the neckband to fit the neckline and sew it again. Neckbands are tough. There are many videos on youtube that show how to put them in. That strawberry fabric has A LOT of stretch so you may want to size down whatever you sew with it. Take your time sewing. Make something you're in love with. Nothing else. I'm working on some Tees. Simple and low stress. I want to make a cape too!! Hope you have a wonderful vacation! 🥰🥰

Thanks Grace for the detailed explanation of this illustration. It was definitely confusing. 🫤. I wondered why the wrong side is showing in this step? I’ve done two neckbands before both from a double brush poly and they turned out ok. Yes. I will definitely size down on the strawberry fabric. I learned to size down when I made a simplicity shirt from a Walmart knit that had a lot of stretch.

I forgot to say, you don't have to unpick the whole neckband, just an inch or two around the pucker.

I have the same struggle with t shirt neck bands. They never mind up properly for me and it's always floppy looking.

I’ve been told neck bands can be tricky. If we keep at it, we’ll eventually get it. Happy sewing to you!
