My 8 year old daughter was diagnosed with a stage 4 heart murmur at 4 months old that is completely innocent and didn’t need further treatment. They used an ultrasound to diagnose it. I would say since Ben has lived a normal, happy life thus far it should be an innocent murmur! It’s hard not to stress when things like this come up with our kiddos, but heart murmurs are incredibly common so hopefully this gives you peace of mind until his appointment!
My son had a heart murmur that was noticed when he was born. We went for multiple visits at a cardiologist up until he was 5. When he was 5 it was still there and the doctor said as long as he seems healthy and no problems while being active then it will eventually go away on its own. My son is almost 12 and recently had a checkup and the murmur is gone! So I think it's something that goes away in time as long as the child continues to seem healthy!
My daughter has a heart murmur that also turned out innocent. It is detectable and the doctors can hear it whenever she has a cough or cold because it increases pressure in her lungs. They found it when she was 4. She’s 6 now and she’s never had any health or developmental problems! My Son also had an ASD (like a leak in his heart) that closes spontaneously before he turned 6 months old (which in most cases do). Hope everything turned out okay for Ben! ❤
Ben was staring at you the whole time eating breakfast ❤! There is nothing like Mommy being home with their babies. It is so good for both! Moms raising the next generation is so important! I am in my 40s and have a heart murmur. Nothing has come of mine. Sometimes the doctor hears it and sometimes not. I usually don't mention it when I change doctors since mine is not an issue.
My 3 year old son was born with a VSD and a leaking valve. He got the VSD repaired at 5months old. It was mentally hard for me as a mom but he was and is still doing AMAZINGLY well. You would never know if I didn’t tell you. He gets an echocardiogram once a year just to check everything out. So far so good and we’re hoping to have a final surgery to replace his leaking valve when he’s a young adult. No matter the result he will be just fine in Jesus name♥️🙏🏽
I took my son to 4 year old check up and her reaction to a heart murmur she heard was worrisome. He right away got an ekg and x ray. I heard a Dr at the walk in clinic when he was sick casually throw it out that she heard one but she showed no concern so I never thought of it again until his 4 year check up when the Dr reacted like. I went to a specialist for children cardiologist and he said this is totally normal most kids have one at one point in their life.
Cardiologist appointments can feel so unnecessarily scary! My daughter has a murmur and had a hole in her heart, but it completely healed itself in a matter of months and was no where near as serious as what our primary care provider made it out to be.
My oldest has had a heart murmur since birth as well. They didn’t find it until he was 3 when we had to get his tonsils out. (That’s a whole other story) but after seeing the cardiologist before the surgery, they said they weren’t concerned and that he will most likely have it the rest of his life if it doesn’t eventually go away on its own. He’s never noticed it and we don’t make it a big deal. Doc said to have it checked every 5 years just to keep track of it. Praying Bens will be similar, if not a better outcome!
Cardiologist appointments can be long just with waiting for your turn and to go over results especially if the clinic is super busy that day go prepared with lunch , snacks and toys ! I’m just guessing they will do a echo scan to see what’s going on, the more they move the longer it takes our last tech suggested bringing his sound machine and any other comfort items or just something to keep him occupied (the scan isn’t scary or painful it’s just keeping kids still can be challenging lol) I wouldn’t worry it sounds like Ben is doing fantastic with his weight and growth which is a big indicator he’s doing just fine .
Ben chatting with you was so sweet. He is growing so fast. Time flies. BTW I have a heart murmur and have been fine for the past 51 years, they just check it periodically 😊
My son had the same thing and he had to get check but it ended up getting small enough that they arnt concerned they check at their check up the dr would hear it so your daughter should be good 😊
I broke my nail. took one nail off for a while then put back on too early and broke again. Waited a while again than put back on and it finally healed and grew back
I'm 39 with a PFO. Didn't get diagnosed until my second pregnancy with my son (I had a TIA). Echo bubble study confirmed PFO...was put on 81mg aspirin daily. No issues since.
Hey! I just wanted to say first, it is hard not to worry about our kids!! That being said, my youngest just turned 2 as well and she had a murmur when she was born and we were referred to a cardiologist, which saw her twice and it still hadn't closed, he said he isn't too worried but to have her checked out again when she's about 5 (they picked the age based on when they thought she would be able to sit still) they did an ultrasound for her to check her heart with the cardiologist...I still worry about her though and think I'm going to ask about her going in sooner than later as I know she can sit still ❤
My youngest was born with a VSD that we weren't aware of until right after she was born. It did close before she turned 3 but it is definitely a scary thing. Pediatric cardiologists are awesome, especially when it comes to an echocardiogram. Faith has one when she was just 3 hours old and again when she was 3.
I had/have a heart murmur they didn’t even notice it (idk how that’s kind of concerning 😅) until I was 11. But I never followed up and have never had any complications except an occasional heart flutter but other than that totally healthy!
My oldest son has a heart murmur, VSD and he’s doing good enough to only see his cardiologist every 3 years. He was born with it and is 9 now and seems to do great considering his other health issues.
Hey my daughter has a heart murmur too. We got it checked out and she’s all good, the doctor said that this is just her normal but it’s not causing her any issues.
my 5 year old has irregular heart beat and it shows on the heart monitor like hes skipping beats but hes not and had a very strong heart and apparently its very common does ben have a helmet? i just got a helmet for my 2 year old the other day :D

My girlfriend had a heart murmur way back in the 80's at 13 years old. I still know her. 57 and no signs she ever had it.
My son was born with one, and is now 5 and it’s gone! Our ped was never concerned and said they usually go away on their own

I was born with a spinal issue, and have had a heart murmur since birth. Still have it.. I'm 33, and still no any other heart problems. ♥️
