- Hey folks, this is a longer video than usual, I'm stuffing 2 weeks of work at the Sky Cabin into 1 video, so please watch it all - there is a lot that has been going on.
Yes, during the solar panels section, I got my words crossed up (call it a Senior Moment), with Amps and Volts. Hopefully y'all know what I meant!
There will not be a video put out this coming weekend. I have to move out of the lodge on July 15th, so getting the Sky Cabin to a livable state is top priority. The next video will be out sometime the following week.
Background music on this video is from the UA-cam Audio Library:

Bill, All I can say is WOW. Lots of good progress. I had to laugh during the last video, seeing my old real estate agent's sign out by the highway. She was helping me look for a place when I was up there in September of 2019. Loved the pictures of Mt. Illiamna. Stay safe my friend.
Thanks John!! The only issue is that was Mt. Redoubt... LOL!!! Iliamna, yes it's visible from the property as well, is a bit farther to the south. I don't think I captured any of it in the photos... but then again, I've been known to be wrong... at least once a day... LOL!!
Things are moving along. Looking good. Work is progressing. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Tom !!!
That's quite a bit of progress Bill for just 2 weeks - looks really nice! I can tell your dogs are loving life in Alaska so far - I really enjoyed their random cameos throughout this video 😊 I'm looking forward to your next update video already!
Thanks Michelle!!
You are making a lot of progress! I loved this video.
Thanks Penny!! I'm glad you liked it!! Progress is still slower than what I had hoped for, but what else is new... LOL!!!
I am jealous that you have Grass. lol. We have very little of it.
Thanks Rob!! Are y'all still coming down to Kasilof later in the month? Did you get in touch with Sean yet?
@@thelonemoose4718 Yes we are. Driving Down Monday the 22 early in the day. I did talk to Sean and he is Game. Just need to figure a day.
@@curmudgeinnak Cool deal, just let me know!
With all that wind consider a wind generator also. Wind blows at night.
Thanks for watching Charles. Yes, the wind sure does blow at night too. I have thought about it, and may add that in at some future point. That would also require a hybrid charge controller/inverter system since wind generators produce A/C current, whereas solar produce D/C current. The other issue here is constructing a base. Frost heave is a major problem so I can't just build a slab on grade platform. If you see the piers that the container is on, the deepest one had to go down 27 feet to hit solid rock! Even though I wouldn't need piers that are rated at 90,000# each, like those holding up the container, it would still require some deep piers to then support a concrete base to attach the mast too. It's definitely something to consider on down the road a ways. Thanks for the suggestion!!
They do make small DC models in 12, 24 and 48 V about 1000W that tie into Solar systems.
