@@evankelly4346 It was October 1979. It was for the premier of the movie “Meteor”. I was one month into my 13 years as host of “Good Day”, a daily, live morning show that originated in Boston and was broadcast throughout New England. Ten journalists were invited to Flagstaff Arizona and flown, by helicopter, into Meteor Crater for lunch with the stars of the film; Sean, Natalie Wood and Martin Landau.
The interviews took place at a Flagstaff Hotel. You might enjoy the interview with Natalie Wood in my Channel. I have posted 600 so far... Thanks for watching.... Blessings to you!!

From everything I have ever read about the two, Sean Connery and Roger Moore were very good, longtime friends. I honestly believe that his comment about Moonraker was not directed at Moore, but rather at the change in tone from the somewhat more grounded early Bond films to the more fantastical Moore Bond films.
Very true. And Moore did something similar when Quantum of Solace came out: he publicly criticised the editing that stopped him from following the action sequences but was very clear that he liked Craig's actual performance.
Kudos to the lady interviewing Connery for her intelligent approach and questions. I had the sense that Connery was pleasantly surprised, and possibly somewhat relieved that he wasn`t presented with the same questions asked thousands of times previously.

Nice interview, I wish I could have met him before his passing. I'm 36, and Connery was already a legend by the time I started watching movies. He has always been one of my favorite actors, and his death brought back a lot of memories for me. What an interesting guy he was. It's too bad we couldn't have seen him make a return to film before the end. (Although I know he retired, it still would have been a treat to have him back for at least one more outing on the silver screen.)
Sean's comment was not about Roger; it was about the amount of special effects in Moonraker which he felt has gone far away from the original stories per Ian Fleming. It was about special effects, not Roger.

He is great friend with Roger, it is not about him but about movies which were in that moment going towards more importance to special effects rather than act.
Yeah, he had it in quite badly for the production company at that stage I think too. I loved Moonraker as a kid but I'm glad there's more to Bond films than that.
I remember agreeing with Connery's assessment of Moore as bond at the time. But now over the years looking back I've come to appreciate Moore more and more. It was much different than Connery but still iconic and unique and for many he was Bond. I still prefer Connery's version as it was darker and the movies themselves were more in line with the 'Spy thriller' genre. Where the Moore movies were more of a 'family entertainment' vibe. Both Connery and Moore had 'classic' movie's and 'classic' movie scenes that are now the stuff of legend. Cudos to both actors for a job well done. RIP both of you.

Not seen this interview before. Very refreshing for an interviewer to be interested in Connerys work outside of Bond even if that is the pull for watching. Sean & Roger were good friends and never spoke badly of each other.
Craig was actually closer to the books: using his alcoholism, womanizing, and boyishness to mask deep depression at being a thuggish murderer for his government. Goldeneye is my favorite movie though (Casino Royale is a close second)
Sean Connery was crap. Only old fucks think he was the best, because they still live in the 'good old days' when rape and sexual harassment were considered 'being cheeky'!!!
I live near Pinewood Studios and some of my friends used to work on the Bond sets there building them. They were all very complimentary about Sean Connery, said he had no airs and graces and would always chat with the crew on set as if he was just another one of them
What many people don't get: Acting is a job like any other one. Actors borrow their body and voice to a imaginary character. That's all it is. But - they are not them!
Dear Eileen, you made Sean Connery giggle like a school boy. He really enjoyed your questions. That shows how professional you as a reporter were. Thank you for this great interview with the legendary Sean Connery.
Luke Skywalker Thank you so much for your lovely comments, I was new at the hosting/interviewer role and appreciated his graciousness. I hope you will take a look at some of the other interviews I have posted. My best to you and again, many thanks.
Ahead of his time knowing the special effects were at least 50% of a movie and as an actor admitting it. So good to see Sean laugh out loud when talking about on screen kissing.
@@titanuranus3095 Agreed. Connery was a great actor who had many great roles in many great films (but, btw, not for the film "Meteor" that he's promoting here.) BUT he was not a great man, although, in fairness, neither are most of us. But I'm guessing that in the post "Me-Too" world, Sir Sean would have trouble getting work.
This was a much better interview than the Barbara Walters one. This interview just shows you that people who bad mouthed Sean while living and still do so in death never really knew how much of a bundle of joy he was. I don’t think the media with few exceptions or the public ever truly took the time to know him.
Definitely an oversimplification. Connery had a tremendous sense of humor as Bond. He was especially good at deadpan and wry one-liners. And Moore could be very tough, serious, and believable during dramatic moments.
I think Roger Moore added his own take on 007 character and I think he did it well. I don't think it was worse or better, it was simply Roger's interpretation and I think he did well with it, as did Sean with his. Obviously the character has to develop and evolve with different incarnations to make the character relevant to the modern audience.
I've felt that Bond movies reflect the times they were made. Like during the counterculture movement and post-Vietnam era where Bond moved more towards fighting supervillains than purely doing the bidding of the government. Then it was back to east-vs-west, greed is good, and escapism... and finally extreme realism and violence.
Meteor was released October 19, 1979. This interview was promoting that. Odd that the title/description doesn't mention this is 1979, but I guess you can tell by his collar. 🙂
His observations about Moonraker are spot on. That one was the first peak of the franchise basically devolving into a sort of cartoon fantasy. Quite a contrast to the early Connery Bond movies. The second cartoon peak was Die another day. I was rolling my eyes the whole way through in the cinemas. Somehow the Cartoony level of Moonraker was charming in comparison, mostly due to the charisma of Roger versus Brosnan.
The original FILM bond possibly. He wasn’t actually the first actor to play bond as Bond was on radio before the films. Bob Holness was the first bond.
I am truly so upset to hear the news of Sean’s passing. He was so kind and such a gentleman. I was privileged to have spent time with this legend. Rest In Peace Sean.

Craig was actually closer to the books: using his alcoholism, womanizing, and boyishness to mask deep depression at being a thuggish murderer for his government. Goldeneye is my favorite movie though (Casino Royale is a close second)
@@andyrihn1 I prefer Octopussy myself but the films you mention are also good.
Sean Connery was the WORST,Period.
Sean Connery was crap. Only old fucks think he was the best, because they still live in the 'good old days' when rape and sexual harassment were considered 'being cheeky'!!!
Anna Linson I sense an sjw
Sean Connery is such a badass actor, he can play Burt Reynolds.
DwayneHicks426 Yeh good idea!
in Shmokie and the Bandit hee hee ur
DwayneHicks426 RIP Burt
That's very funny, Dwayne.
You failed it roger Moore is it
Chuck Norris could play Burt Reynolds
I live near Pinewood Studios and some of my friends used to work on the Bond sets there building them. They were all very complimentary about Sean Connery, said he had no airs and graces and would always chat with the crew on set as if he was just another one of them
What many people don't get: Acting is a job like any other one. Actors borrow their body and voice to a imaginary character. That's all it is. But - they are not them!
Unless your Ken Roach / Ken Barlow
Dear Eileen, you made Sean Connery giggle like a school boy. He really enjoyed your questions. That shows how professional you as a reporter were. Thank you for this great interview with the legendary Sean Connery.
Luke Skywalker Thank you so much for your lovely comments, I was new at the hosting/interviewer role and appreciated his graciousness. I hope you will take a look at some of the other interviews I have posted. My best to you and again, many thanks.
@@eileenprose8472 How old was Connery here?
@@markant9534 This was 1979, the year he turned 49
What a great personality Sean Connery is. Manly and humble. A true gentleman. Cool Moustache,
I've met Sean Connory at the Las Brisas golf club a few times in the 90's he was a really nice guy!
I miss this great man!...an icon!..truly a gentleman and a master of his craft... Farewell!..surely the world will miss you Sean!...RIP
Ahead of his time knowing the special effects were at least 50% of a movie and as an actor admitting it. So good to see Sean laugh out loud when talking about on screen kissing.
Tell that to Tarantino, Scorsese, Nolan for "Oppenheim"....
A man who was exactly who he was - and a model for a "Gentlemen" that will stand for all time...
Unless you don't count violence against women a gentlemanly activity.
@@titanuranus3095 Well he was civilized about it. :)
Good interview, perfectly handled. Miss those kind of interviews where the subject actually gets a chance to speak.
Outland is a much underrated film where Connery brings that James Bond experience and tough guy persona.
Agreed, I really like that film. Seen it many times.
I watched it again a couple of days back. It's a good film, and well paced. I suspect some of the story was sacrificed for the pacing.
Im sure I read it was based on High Noon in Space
@@connor25 As much as I like Outland, in pails before High Noon.
Roger Moore is my favorite Bond. But I love the style of this interviewer
My favourite, too!
My fave too too
Mines too Roger my fav Sean's my second Pirece is my third favorite Bond the guy from Remington Steele which was to me a fake as bond TV show
This was a much better interview than the Barbara Walters one.
This interview just shows you that people who bad mouthed Sean while living and still do so in death never really knew how much of a bundle of joy he was. I don’t think the media with few exceptions or the public ever truly took the time to know him.
@@paarker I remember that! My favorite part was “they can’t leave it alone. They want to say it again”.
Great interview 👍 without Sean there might not be a James Bond
A very pleasant interview, Sean is just great.
"Sometimes you know, they just need a little 'schlap'."
Connery's Bond was like a dangerous Black Panther - while Roger was a cuddly teddy bear !
Sean is a serious bond and Roger is a comedic bond.
Sean did have some comic moments too
They were both good - but in different ways.
Definitely an oversimplification.
Connery had a tremendous sense of humor as Bond. He was especially good at deadpan and wry one-liners. And Moore could be very tough, serious, and believable during dramatic moments.
Except for the cliff scene in "For Your Eyes Only". Talk about coldblooded.
Wow. I love this channel. You are very fortunate to have such a beautiful career. Sean is a hero to me and my family. Cant wait to watch them all.
46 and all the way from Liverpool Uk 🎉❤
Well, I just loved that interview!
Brilliant interview! I bet you were kicking yourself for missing out on that kiss at the end lol....
Yep!! I missed out several times. LOL! Thanks for watching. Hope you will check out the other interviews on my Channel. Best to you....
Hardly. When you're talking about fantasy meteors falling from fantasy outer space you sound like a complete and utter moron.
I think Roger Moore added his own take on 007 character and I think he did it well. I don't think it was worse or better, it was simply Roger's interpretation and I think he did well with it, as did Sean with his. Obviously the character has to develop and evolve with different incarnations to make the character relevant to the modern audience.
Agreed.
Moonraker was easily Roger's worst Bond, the script etc.
I think your right Rodger had a different character from Sean he had to, but my favourite Rodger bond was live and let die 😊
Sean is the reason why James Bond is so popular.
For real
RIP Sean... You had a great innings and a wonderful life thanks for the entertainment a true British Legend.
Great personality, Always enjoy hearing his interviews
Meteor was released October 19, 1979. This interview was promoting that. Odd that the title/description doesn't mention this is 1979, but I guess you can tell by his collar. 🙂
He flew in and out of the interview on that shirt
Haha
She so wanted him to say I make an effort to stay in shape.
'No I like eating and like drinking!'
Moving swiftly on!😄
Thanks for uploading this
Very smart man with his insight. He will be missed.
Brosnan was made to play Bond... He can thank his acting career- as a leading man- for being attached to that role...
"do you eat Spanish food?"
"I eat everything"
It was a comment on food nothing more. Sean have manners unless it is James Bond then he is naughty.
Including pussy galore
RIP Sean Connery, the original and the best James Bond.
The original FILM bond possibly. He wasn’t actually the first actor to play bond as Bond was on radio before the films. Bob Holness was the first bond.
Excellent interview, Sir Sean seem to enjoy this one !
RIP Sir Sean Connery. I truly enjoyed years of your many movie roles!
