I agree. It is such a great space to share ideas and tips that go along with the content. We can all learn new things within the context of old things. 😊
Farm tip. Wear farm shoes to the car and carry the nice shoes with you. Put them on when you get where you’re going, and then put the farm shoes back on when you get back in the car to come home!
That bathtub would look fantastic in the garden with white alyssum in it as it would look like a bubble bath! Be sure and post a night time shot of the chandelier in the greenhouse!
🌺I reuse my single use plastic markers for my plants year after year… I collect them in the fall from the garden, swish them in a jar of isopropyl alcohol, and the permanent marker slides right off… Maybe takes an extra second to clean off, but totally worth it! My greenhouse collapsed this winter under the weight of a crazy snowfall… so Thank you for letting us spend some time in your greenhouse🥰♥️♥️
Oooh thanks for the tip! I've been using the pencil that comes with them (I get them from Dollar Tree) but that inevitably washes off some of them and ends in confusion. I was just wondering if a grease pencil would work but your way sounds even easier.
I was going to mention the isopropyl alcohol also, but i would have done soak a cotton ball and wipe method. this would take a while though, your idea of swishing them in a jar is brilliant. Also hope your greenhouse can be saved in time for gardening season.
Speaking from experience, if you don’t have isopropyl alcohol lying around, a high-proof alcohol like vodka or ever clear can remove permanent marker 😅
This is NOT boring content. My husband is deployed and I’ve been binge watching your channel from the moment you first showed us your epic tree. Much like Madeline, I’ve found myself smiling at the good and frowning at the bad in your vlogs. Being separated from my better half, across the country from my friends and family, I am so thankful to have the ability to sit back a feel as if I have a friend in the room during this season. Like you, my soul is happy in the repetitive tasks and watching it unfold provides me with a sense of peace. After watching much of your content, I am so proud to say that I found my “sparkle” again (8 months postpartum plus a 4-nager) and began making what you call quiet moments for myself. Amercing myself in a novel, or finally finishing a crochet project (there are many 1/2 finished)…thank you for sharing your triumphs and failures, and thank you for virtually holding my hand whist I find myself again listening to all that powerful talkin! ❤
Jess, I've said this every year, for 5 years now, this isn't boring content. Someone's learning for the first time. And for people like me, who are still in winter, it's something to look forward to! Because I know my growing season is almost here!
If you'd opened with your peaceful process of making tea or coffee again & then moved onto your peaceful potting, we'd all be in nirvana! ❤️🌱🤗☺️ (hint..hint...plans for your next video! 😉🤔💕)
So not boring! I’m eagerly waiting for warm weather here in Michigan. We have another 3-5 inches of snow coming today. And your greenhouse is the prettiest I’ve ever seen! Prettier than anything that could be bought!! I just love it!
This video gave me a different perspective on your table top. It's more beautiful than I remember it being. The lighting was perfect! And you, Jess, even on your worst of days, we're never and are not now ever boring. I've suffered for over 30 years with autoimmune disease. I found my body can tolerate sourdough (my favorite) bread but not much else in the grain family. After doctors telling me I was fine and it was all in my head I started researching on my own, in my late 60's and now almost through my 70's. Made some mistakes and some right decisions. I now buy mostly organic fruits n veggies n meats. I rent so no in ground planting, plus our soil is terrible, rock hard and unusable. Getting planters is difficult on a fixed budget. The landlord wants it to look nice, not junky, and the ground squirrels are death on a lot of planters. If you leave a cardboard box out more than two days they will have eaten all of it. They will chew through plastic, even the heavy duty bags. Trying to find a way to container plant that fits my meager budget and that they can't destroy is a challenge. They even ate through the tires on my grandson's trike and bike!! They chewed up all the wiring in my son's jeep because now, in their infinite wisdom, the manufacturers are using corn and corn by products to make the coverings instead of rubber. It's like ringing the dinner bell to the ground squirrels! They chewed through the wiring for my master brake cylinder and hit my brother in law's truck, too, and his was on the cement driveway, not the dirt like ours. If any viewers have solutions I'm open to them all. Cant poison because my landlord has dogs, sweet ones i enjoy. I've gardened before and been successful. I'm looking forward to it again. God bless you! I've learned new things and relearned things I've long forgotten from you. And the journey has always been a beautiful one. I pray I can enjoy many more years to come.
Seeing all those trays with their tags just makes me so excited. I can't wait to see the garden tours. I guess this is how some people feel when they see the new seasons clothing get put out. I feel that way about seed starting lol. Edited: I grew the Blue Butterfly Peas last year. I used a fingernail clipper to crack the seed coating and that helped them germinate. They also love heat like peppers and germinate a lot faster when temps outside are constantly 75°F and above. If someone starting them lives in a cooler climate, they might try starting these indoors on a heat mat or using a humidity dome to trap the heat in to get them to germinate faster.
This is so not boring. I’m in NW Arkansas. Rogers/Bentonville area. Last year was my first real successful garden and it was due to your encouragement. Everything I planted took off! I previously lived in Bella. It’s deep in the woods. Just too much shade. Please keep them coming! I appreciate every one of them and learn. Thank you for sharing
Hey neighbor! I'm in Farmington. I moved into my current house last year, and I am loving the extra growing space! I feel like every year I garden the more successful my garden is.
My daughter and I made basil tea last year with the dark purple opal basil and it did the same thing! It was a beautiful greenish blue (almost teal color) to begin with, but when the lemon juice was added, it turned a bright pink!! We called it Unicorn Tea and made it many, many times!!! ❤💜
NOT BORING! Keep making videos like this! I’m watching with my kids and even commented to them how relaxing it is to watch the process of seed starting
Your content is wonderful! It’s because of you that I started buying seeds. I’ve failed in the garden so many times and been disheartened, but your motto of the garden being a classroom rings out to me. I bought a small, starter greenhouse last year and put it up a couple of weeks ago. I got grow lights and seed cell trays. I bought seeds galore! I’m branching out and TRYING, and that’s what your videos inspire me to do. Don’t worry about the end result. Just enjoy each teachable moment as it comes. ❤️ I grew melons last year for the first time and had a prolific harvest. I’m a preacher’s wife and brought melons to our summer socials. It was so rewarding!
"I'm just going to walk around in my house slippers and enjoy my coffee in the early morning garden beauty." A few seconds later... Coffee downed, slippers covered in dirt, robe now de-robed(other PJs still there), shiney sheen on forehead, and plant successfully up-potted. Couldn't resist!!!! 😆
It's not boring content. It's informative and useful - and yes, I'm chomping at the bit to start my seeds, but in Michigan, I must be patient for another month :)
Please don't think this is boring content. This is what is getting us through. I'm sitting in an office building watching/listening to this as I dream about being able to do this all full time. Working a 9-5 job and trying to work towards homesteading full time is tough, being able to watch these videos motivates me for when I get home and am so tired it's easier to sit on the couch. This pushes me forward. Keep turning on the camera sister. I appreciate you!
Never boring Jess, I always come away with something new in my gardening brain bank. For instance, your reasoning for using the regular height trays with the 32 cell pot holders. I have been using the shallow 1020 trays so the cell trays sit all the way down, but they are so easy to overfill and make a mess, especially since mine are in my living room starting rack. I may experiment with the regular trays this year. Before transplanting to the garden, I draw a map or make one in a spreadsheet of my beds and label everything, then take that with me to the garden, marking any changes I make on the fly. Just a shout out for Bootstrap Farmer, they have acquired many of my dollars because of you and Jill promoting them. Same with Greenstalk.
Good job re-hashing the most important parts of seed-starting that some people don't understand. We learn as we grow...but people must do much research for optimal results. Thanks Jess, you are growing strong in this awesome season of growth and beauty. We are growing more in our small yard than in previous years. Prosper and grow !
Your greenhouse lights make me think of the twinkle lights in my sewing room. I always say I have twinkle lights because, "this is where the magic happens!" I'm pretty sure there's magic happening in your greenhouse as well. 😊
you know speaking of the memory table, I wouldn't put glass on it . If it were me I would put a thick layer of clear laquer on it that way its protected, you dont have to worry about breaking it and its cleanable. It's so precious and gorgeous. I love your whole green house and that table really makes the windows pop. It's going to be gorgeous. I cannot wait to see it. blessings y'all.
Or a heavy duty plexiglass piece on top for protection in place of glass. Then she wouldnt be concerned about it breaking. Some lacquers tend to yellow over time. There are companies that will cut to size, they can bevel the edges if you want so you can move it and not injure your hands and deliver or package and mail with say UPS. Worth checking into. .
I am still about a week away from my “I should probably wait but I can’t wait anymore” seed starting date with the windchill hitting -20 degrees today. Many of your videos have been my companion today as I have been quilting and dreaming of warmer weather. I don’t think that this is boring content at all! It is quiet content and you, your land, and this content have been a gift to my heart today! Thank you!
Jess.. your content is awesome! I’ve been a follower since 2020 and learned so much from you. You and your family are a breath of fresh air. I began gardening and have fallen in love with it because of your channel. I’ve never commented before. Please keep making this content. Thank you for all you do.
This will be my second year gardening, and I'm going to start seeds indoors, which I'm both excited and nervous about. Watching you plant seeds is never boring. And the information you share is always valuable. Thank you Jess. ❤
I just received my Jess8 seeds from Wild Boar Farms. I will start peppers and eggplant next week and tomatoes the week after that. Here in Northern Oklahoma, we are due for snow tonight and rain in the AM. No greenhouse, but heat mats, lights and a non-drafty shed. I am so excited to get going. Nothing you say is boring. Blessings.
It’s wonderful watching other gardeners do stuff when we are inside with the cold and snow. Gets me excited for the gardening season. Thanks for making these videos!
No, this is not boring. When I first saw your tags I was excited for all of the colors. I searched your videos to find them and the trays. Thank you so much.
Jess, for you (or whoever reads these comments regularly) I have an idea for the tub! Stand it upright (I know Miah is handy enough to build some bracing), add some shelves and make it a display tub! Indoor or out!
I get excited when I see you have posted and vlog, keep it up. Thought you need a chuckle, my grand angel saw my sun maid package and said you look like her. lol
also a fun tip , chalk markers work for labeling the pots for those who do not have labels. It has lasted years on pots for me. It comes right off with a damp cloth. Ive used them to draw seasonal murals/designs on my windows, labeling leftover containers in the fridge.. canning goods. So many uses !
I cleaned out my green stalk today . It was 65 here in Rochester NY today. I'm under no delusion the weather will still be cold with snow but oh my it felt so good to get out and piddle around in the gardens. AND I received my tomato seeds from Wild Boar Farms today of Jess's favorites. A happy day today😊
God Bless You Sweet Jess. I've labeled myself a haphazard gardener....and love it when seeds germinate is unexpected places, I then transplant them to my garden bed. My sons and I created three beds, one is for experimenting. I'm working on a seed starting station in the hopes of creating more beds over on my neighbors yard. Seed starting then transplanting twice then in the garden is my favorite time too. Thank you soooo much for sharing your knowledge. We're just here in a small backyard....but any love our soil is shown, it hugs us back in dandelions, sheperd's purse and other wild flowers. Life comes from it. I am grateful. Take care. Love from South Texas.
Please, keep making these "boring" slow-pace videos as well. As someone recovering from an episode of a chronic mental illness, these kind of videos are an ease and a relaxing thing for the mind. Also an encouragment to get into seed-starting or other repetative, boring and simple tasks help to get up from the bottomless pit some might find themselves in. Thank you for being you, you have helped me in a road of healing.
Serenity is what I feel when I'm planting seeds, I like to watch when you're planting it motivates me ❤️ your content is very heart warming to watch have a blessed day Jess.
Hey Jess I just wanted to let you know how happy I am that I discovered you years ago. When you first started this channel. And I've been a devoted follower ever since. I've gotten a lot of educational info , uplifting inspiration and entertainment . Always look forward to your new videos a bright spot in my day. I sincerely want to thank you for doing what you do best being you.
Love kinda being in your greenhouse with u while I wait for the winter and snow to be over here!! Have new seeds and more coming and just biting at the bit to get gardening! Watching you sure helps! And may I say- Looking good girl!! We can tell you are better! So happy for you!
For those plastic tags, i always take them up and do a quick swipe of rubbing alcohol to remove the name. Obviously for you that starts 100's of seeds it would be more difficult. i can use for 4 years at least doing front, back, front, back. Just a tip for smaller growers.
For seed starting tags I repurpose lids from plastic food containers (like yogurt, sour cream, salsa, cottage cheese etc.) The white ones work well to cut up and you can make them short enough for your humidity dome if you are using one to germinate, and hot soapy water and a scrub sponge cleans them off for reuse. I switch to popsicle sticks when I pot seedlings up to go in the greenhouse, because they are affordable and I donate over 100 tomato starts each year. Like you, I don't usually label in the garden but prefer a written record and drawing in my garden book. So exciting to spend happy time in the garden with you! It's inspiring!💕
I'm in zone 7B SouthWestern KY and I'm waiting until the first week of March to start our frost tender stuff. I'm REALLY EXCITED. Brassicas are all ready to move out to the garden.
You look very pretty. In a world that's going haywire, its nice to see anything gardening related. I'm about 2 weeks out still from starting seeds here n I can't wait😌
Jess, I'm so grateful for the simplicity of your teaching and encouragement to us new gardeners 💕 thank you. Yesterday and older woman told me to soak every single seed for the garden in black tea with a cap of bourbon and ammonia and peroxide. Immediately I felt overwhelm and said to myself, "No way it has to be that complicated... seeds want to grow.. there's got to be an easier way" And then your video popped up HalleluYah 🙌 Thank you, Jess 💕
🕊NO Jess you're Not boring at all, your very sweet and a great teacher that makes class fun. If you teach us everything you know maybe we'll have phenomenal gardens too, I can't wait 🌱🐞🦋🌻🍄🧅🧄🥦🥬🥒🫑🌶🍅🫒🍆🥔🥕🌽🥝🫐🍓🍑🍐🍏🍎🍉🍇🙏🕊
Make the tub a pond with water lilies, kingtut, grass some goldfish in it it would be ever so pretty with some rocks and a little waterfall!! it’s lovely to put where you sit out with tables and chairs
The Garden Marker will not fade. I've been using them for 16 years now. I used to run a greenhouse. Honestly, I have tried every marker under the sun. This is that doesn't fade.
🤭Greenville,Sc here. I might have tomato plants that are already 3” tall. I guess I’ll have to repot. Lol P. S. Soil blocking is the bomb for anyone with limited space. I got the grow ease trays this year too. Game changer!
Keep making what you think is boring, it is actually relaxing for me and makes me want to start sowing pepper seeds because those little boogers take for ever to grow.
This content could NEVER be boring, Jess! I do want to ask those of you with experience growing grains, what are some reputable companies to purchase rice seed, wheat, etc. We'd love to grow our own grains, but we're having a hard time finding trustworthy listings.
I've told myself for a few years now that I'd commit to a plan and start a garden. Last year we finally grew tomatoes and it was so exciting. I agree that this video is NOT boring and appreciate just seeing your process, even on a larger scale than what I might be doing. Looking forward to a bigger garden this year and am thankful for all that you share!!
I don't think this is boring at all! I've been watching your videos for 4 years and I love them. Also, speaking of blue butterfly peas, I just started some 3 days ago from seed I saved from last year. I scarified 10 seeds and folded them in to a damp paper towel, slid that into a zip top bag and set it in a sunny windowsill. ALL 10 GERMANATED ALREADY! I just potted them up.
Girrrrrrlllllll! Zone 5 here - watching the seed starting process is keeping me sane until I can do my own. I watch ALL your content, but this specifically is perhaps the most meaningful. Please don't judge. 😁
Definitely not boring!!! I’ve never seen a single video from you that would be considered boring. You’re a wealth of knowledge, and I’m thankful you share it with us! Side note…your haircut is beautiful! I’ve been meaning to comment that and keep forgetting.
Never boring. Your thought are usually thoughts I've had, and its nice to have validation or other ideas when I'm out of them. It's quiet time for me to watch. Thanks.
Hey Jess, God Bless Hope your joy is full today ! Thank you for posting and teaching us ready gardeners how to become comfortable with the process of it.
No not another zip through, we're plant enthusiasts, show us what your sowing and why! I'm pregnant with twins and have to take this garden season off I'm living vicariously through you! Please show us what your sowing!
I really enjoyed watching you start your seeds. I still have a bit of time before I can start mine. Your video was very peaceful and I love Daniel’s guitar music in the background. Thanks for helping me try to be patient just a bit longer. Can’t wait for the full on event of seed starting.
It's always a joy for me watching you in whatever your doing. Only one month more for me to wait till I can plant my peppers! You are so inspiring for me Jess. One other thing , you probably didn't read my last comment, but my urinary tract infection is gone , hasn't even been a hole week from starting the Oregano Oil. I'll keep taking it for a while yet just to make sure it doesn't come back . GOD BLESS YOU........GAIL
How wonderful!! From what I've read, oregano is one of the strongest medicinal oils for anti bacterial, anti viral and anti fungal there is. Some is so pure and strong you have to dilute it with another oil like coconut or olive to take it but it sure does the trick! And yes, take it fir about a ten day period total and then taper off. I read it fools the germ causing the problem because it sees it as food based so takes it in and is destroyed from the inside out. God bless!
I just finished the last video and was really looking forward to the next video. I’m pleasantly surprised to see it so soon! So grateful it’s that special time of year again, I’ve already got some of my first babes up and I’m starting my first large wave this weekend! ✨ Happy growing everyone! 👍
This content is NOT boring. It is lovely. Thank you. Keep filming the common things.
A passion of the season will never become boring ! Thank-you for posting. I will start my garden seeds tomorrow which is very exciting !!!
I agree. It is such a great space to share ideas and tips that go along with the content. We can all learn new things within the context of old things. 😊
This!
Agree!
This is my favorite content!
Farm tip. Wear farm shoes to the car and carry the nice shoes with you. Put them on when you get where you’re going, and then put the farm shoes back on when you get back in the car to come home!
Keep a pair of farm boots in the greenhouse
That bathtub would look fantastic in the garden with white alyssum in it as it would look like a bubble bath! Be sure and post a night time shot of the chandelier in the greenhouse!
Because of you, I find myself excitingly saying Happy Birthday to each seedlings as they just appear above the surface of the soil😊
Me too! Hehe 🥰🎉✨🌱
Me too!
Ditto..but in the Frosty voice 😂
Same!
Ditto! ME TOO!! I thought it was just me. I love watching Jess talk about gardening!
🌺I reuse my single use plastic markers for my plants year after year… I collect them in the fall from the garden, swish them in a jar of isopropyl alcohol, and the permanent marker slides right off… Maybe takes an extra second to clean off, but totally worth it! Do the same with my seed markers with an added Magic Eraser.
Oooh thanks for the tip! I've been using the pencil that comes with them (I get them from Dollar Tree) but that inevitably washes off some of them and ends in confusion. I was just wondering if a grease pencil would work but your way sounds even easier.
Sorry about your green house. Hope it can be repaired.

My mother always cut up yogurt containers into little markers and that has worked really well for me!
Sour cream and cottage cheese containers, for me!
I do this too!
Thank you. I'm going to try that!
I so the same. I’ve also used plastic milk jugs cut up.
Same!
This is not boring. We are sharing a seed planting time. How can that ever be boring. And yes. Peaceful.

I use oil based paint pens to label my tags. At the end of the season, I can wipe off the paint with nail polish remover.

Many of your videos have been my companion today as I have been quilting and dreaming of warmer weather. I don’t think that this is boring content at all! It is quiet content and you, your land, and this content have been a gift to my heart today! Thank you!
My favorite part of garden UA-cam channels is this part. The seed starting. Don’t ever stop posting these kinds of videos :)
Not boring at all and I love your colorful pots. I write on plastic tags with pencil, erase them, and reuse them. Some fade some don't.
I liked the ideal of filling up the kiddie pool with potting soil to fill the cups. Work smarter, not harder!!! 😁🌱
Jess.. your content is awesome!
Blessings.
It would be a dream come true to have a green house even similar to yours it is so stunning! 🖤🤍🖤🤍🌞🌙🌟
My thoughts exactly 💜💜💜
I love slow content like this
It’s wonderful watching other gardeners do stuff when we are inside with the cold and snow. Gets me excited for the gardening season. Thanks for making these videos!
No, this is not boring. When I first saw your tags I was excited for all of the colors. I searched your videos to find them and the trays. Thank you so much.
This is not boring. Anything on gardening is not boring
Jess, for you (or whoever reads these comments regularly) I have an idea for the tub! Stand it upright (I know Miah is handy enough to build some bracing), add some shelves and make it a display tub! Indoor or out!
You're never boring....I could watch you for hours....and I do
I get excited when I see you have posted and vlog, keep it up. Thought you need a chuckle, my grand angel saw my sun maid package and said you look like her. lol
YOU TALKING ABOUT LABELING YOUR GARDEN MADE ME THINK OF WHEN BEN WAS LITTLER AND WENT AFTER YOU AND PULLED OUT YOUR LABELS IN THE GARDEN.
Not boring at all! Seed starting is my fave. It never gets old. ❤😊
also a fun tip , chalk markers work for labeling the pots for those who do not have labels. It has lasted years on pots for me. It comes right off with a damp cloth. Ive used them to draw seasonal murals/designs on my windows, labeling leftover containers in the fridge.. canning goods. So many uses !
Thank you for the tip! Where do you find chalk markers?
That's half the reason I started my UA-cam channel. A video record of where I planted things because I am notorious for forgetting to label!
It's not boring ☺️ It's soothing, comforting...my life is so hectic and gardening brings me so much peace but it's winter in Michigan. 💓
You are never boring Jess! We love you and we love hanging out with you!
By no means boring, it’s the gift of gardening, the tranquility thank you ❤ps love your hair xx
Boring never enters my mind. Grateful and blessed when you float into my home is what you and your content bring to me!💕💕💕💕
Not boring at all ,I love watching you start seeds,it reinforces my knowledge of seed starting,so thank you!
Not boring at all Jess I can't start my seats until the 1st of March because we can't plant to the end of May. So watching you is a joy. God Bless
Jess, I'm so grateful for the simplicity of your teaching and encouragement to us new gardeners 💕 thank you.
Yesterday and older woman told me to soak every single seed for the garden in black tea with a cap of bourbon and ammonia and peroxide.
Immediately I felt overwhelm and said to myself, "No way it has to be that complicated... seeds want to grow.. there's got to be an easier way"
And then your video popped up
HalleluYah 🙌
Thank you, Jess 💕
I'm sitting here after a rough night with my coffee and the sock I'm knitting. This is exactly the content I needed this morning
I truly look forward to spending this time with you. Please keep the “boring” content coming!
🤭Greenville,Sc here. I might have tomato plants that are already 3” tall. I guess I’ll have to repot. Lol
P. S. Soil blocking is the bomb for anyone with limited space. I got the grow ease trays this year too. Game changer!
I'm definitely having spring fever but I live too far north to start any plants yet. Thanks for sharing your early spring!
Jess, you look beautiful today. And Thankyou for inviting us in to your seed starting!
They use the blue butterfly pea to make colour changing gin - when you add the tonic water it changes colour.
It's like watching football. I'm not NFL player, but it influences me to go outside and throw the ball with the family.
Keep making what you think is boring, it is actually relaxing for me and makes me want to start sowing pepper seeds because those little boogers take for ever to grow.
Not boring at all Always useful information and always enjoy whatever you share Some days you are truly my lifeline ❤️
This content could NEVER be boring, Jess!
I do want to ask those of you with experience growing grains, what are some reputable companies to purchase rice seed, wheat, etc. We'd love to grow our own grains, but we're having a hard time finding trustworthy listings.
We're still working on cleaning and rearranging garden. I have to direct sow, so I enjoy watching your seed starting videos!
I have grown butterfly pea for years and they germinate easily and I get tons of volunteers. They are beautiful and cover well.
Don’t stop these videos! There almost my favorite!
Jess, you've kept me dreaming about my forever farm. I've become a much more confident gardener because of your videos and your pep talks. 🌻🌱❤️
Definitely not boring!!! I’ve never seen a single video from you that would be considered boring. You’re a wealth of knowledge, and I’m thankful you share it with us!
Side note…your haircut is beautiful! I’ve been meaning to comment that and keep forgetting.
Your greenhouse is so gorgeous! I hope you and yours have a wonderful week Jess! 🌻
Not boring at all!! Love it ❤
🤣😅😂 I know, right ? I always mess up all my shoes too.
ah me too!
Not boring. Love all your videos!
Definitely not boring! This is just what we like to see….
