Edward Klein it sounds like no-one actually knew what was going on and that John was aline with his cellphone from the start right up until his coworker found him. Kaylee F like I’m praising these dispatch guys. They really kept him alive, if they didn’t stay on the line I really do not think he would have made it
The shock is real. I kept joking with my EMTs in the ambulance about how I was a hard stick (they couldn’t get an IV) and that blood pressure machines didn’t like me (they eventually manually took my BP)
Exactly, and shock happens for a reason. Your body is helping you to remain calm and not pass out from the pain / stress / fear so that you can get help.
Your body is so exhausted from trying to stay conscious . When first response finally gets to you its lights out. That's all you're waiting for, not to die alone.
This is 100% accurate. I stayed fully alert right up until I made it into the ambulance, and then once I was in the ambulance I passed out and then coded. I was dead for 30 something seconds, and they had to defibrillate me back to life.

It is so much fun to make jokes wen u r not the dispatcher trying to locate a bleeding amputee, without the text of the conversation clearly appearing before u..I doubt hw u would be handling it without the subtitles..
I get that it's a joke but just to educate anyone who takes it seriously: the dispatchers do this for two reasons - first, people under stressful conditions tend to mix things up so they have to confirm several times so that the help doesn't get sent the wrong way, and second, they do this to keep injured people from passing out or freaking out.
Him : Sir , Im gonna die Dispatcher : No youre not , sir Him : Im not gonna die from this. My mother is gonna kill me. How the Hell did he still keep a sense of humor in that situation???

@@anniem5473 I think John said that he screamed for his coworkers but no one came so I think either machines were loud or they were occupied for something like that, and when his bsf Richie I believe came John was already in a call, so prob they were all shocked idk
This whole call is fascinating and gives good insight into the brain chemistry of extreme trauma. The call starts with him in shock, but he progressively gets more loopy as his blood pressure drops. Another few minutes and he probably would've passed out. Often when people imagine being in situations like this, they imagine the pain, but usually the pain comes later after the initial shock. There's a surreal feeling of both calm and panic that allows you to keep a clear head despite the stress.
Its literally just to see how well they can think. They will ask repeatedly because sometimes if they are hurt enough they will answer differently to the same question.
I mean I had an accident but not as crazy as his. There was some heavy metal fell off my foot and my toenail just fell off but I didn't feel pain at initial impact it starts bleeding until hour later
It doesn't matter tbh, that information is just additional and the dispatchers were already on the way. It doesn't matter even if the guy ask dumb questions or goes into more details because those questions are asked just to make u remain conscious.
there was some ambiguity. since he said leg, the entire thing was what was focused on. or some of it could’ve just been maybe caught there and not spliced from that point specifically.
@@doe-dw9lo Yeah exactly, an accidental amputation is not going to be a clean cut, for all the operator knows this dude could've lost his foot, shin, and kneecap, but kept some meat and bone down to the ankle, plus yeah I think the main point is to keep the dude conscious.

What a horrible dispatch center. They guy tells them four or five times the name of the business and the address. Even tells them the area and spells out the name of the business. Neither dispatcher can figure it out. What?? Holy shit. Complete incompetence. Dispatch can't find it in their "system". Ok, how about just sending the FD and the ambulance to the frickin address the victim gave you?? Wow, what a great idea said neither. I'm embarrassed for this 911 center. I hope both dispatcher were provided more training in getting resources sent in a more timely manner. I'm shocked the poor caller didn't just hang up after figuring these fucktards weren't going to be able to help him.
"My mother is gonna, Ha ha... I'm not gonna die from this. My mother is gonna kill me." This guy actually made "I'll kill you if you die" joke... I just...I mean I'm just keep getting shocked by how strong your mind is...
I hope the constant questioning about the address is just the operator and dispatcher trying to keep him conscious and focused and not the clear incompetence it comes across as.
Hi, my sister is in school and training to be an operator. My dad is an active officer. It’s to keep the person occupying AND to confirm things. They have to be absolutely sure so they can see to the person in the best way possible. Plus, the phones garble things out. It’s hard for them to hear the person ESPECIALLY when they are in such a panicky/or dazed state. Also, at certain points, the operator stated he needed to keep him talking. So don’t assume incorrect things. And please don’t question why that’s their job. The spent years of training and a lot of money to get that job. It’s hard work and for you to discredit that is unbelievably rude. Bye, have a nice day!
Repeating the address is NOT a tactic taught to 911 operators to calm a caller. While it is important to get the address correct, many times dispatchers are simply clueless of the areas in which their 911 center covers. On this particular call, it seemed that the dispatcher could not grasp what the caller was saying and had no reference between the address and the business. This was poor performance. Once the dispatcher got the address correct, it went well. More training is needed.
John, you are the most courageous, courteous, level-headed, thoughtful young man ever encountered. Hearing you in this call, while horrific, was also a blessing. You have inspired everyone who heard your call to be a better person - to be more kind, more patient, more unselfish, more considerate. Your mom and dad must be so very proud of you, John - you are a credit to their upbringing. Am so very happy that you survived your ordeal. God bless you and be with you, dear, always and in all ways.
Imagine telling the operator everything they need to know calmly and clearly in the first sentence and then proceeding to have them waste precious time and blood asking you four more times to spell your location and address. Incredible
I definitely understand how frustrating it is hearing the repeated questions in the call but that’s literally how they’re able to keep people responsive and awake. Sometimes I think there’s got to be a better way to keep them engaged, but in the moment I’m sure it’s not easy to think about mundane shit like your favourite colour or pet’s name-but where you’re located, what happened, etc. is important info.
you have to make sure you have right adress. aint nothing worse than sending help to the wrong adress, so it is better if they double or tripple check the adress. all the other questions were because dispatcher wanted him to keep talking.
Hey...Jesus is so awesome. You don't have to be religious. He just wants all of us to admit we are sinners and that he isn't- that hevis perfect- holy- and that he died in our place- taking the punishment for our sins upon himself...when we do these things...we take on his spirit and we can begin to make right choices!!!
What would fuck me up the most, and from a guy I know who lost his hand. It’s not the pain. It’s not the blood, or bones, or muscles. It’s literally seeing something that’s been on your body your entire life, you know it should be there. You know what it does and how to work it. But it’s just gone. Nothing. And the blood loss makes everything harder to understand. Or so I’m told

It also desroys confidence in a positive solution .... Sounds like the absolute worst dialogue possible.

Kaylee F actually he was pretty calm, if you had your leg cut off and people weren’t listening to you a little, you would get pissed

Yeah they know what their doing. They don’t hire people right off the street 😂
They're finding things to talk to. They're already dispatched as soon as they hear the first clear address
Lazarus
It's supposed to calm the caller down and keep him on the phone because something might happen to him
Hi, my sister is in school and training to be an operator.

Bruh, when he questioned whether he was gonna go to jail for this. "You're under arrest for having your leg amputated."

@@mikethespike056 lmao
@@officialdjbeans1502 "come out of the baler slowly with ur hands in the air and both of ur legs where we can see em"
@@sambibambi5409 "DROP THE LEG!"
He probably assumed his employer would sue him, this is the US after all
Imagine telling the operator everything they need to know calmly and clearly in the first sentence and then proceeding to have them waste precious time and blood asking you four more times to spell your location and address. Incredible
Just shocking how bad it was tbh
I definitely understand how frustrating it is hearing the repeated questions in the call but that’s literally how they’re able to keep people responsive and awake. Sometimes I think there’s got to be a better way to keep them engaged, but in the moment I’m sure it’s not easy to think about mundane shit like your favourite colour or pet’s name-but where you’re located, what happened, etc. is important info.
you have to make sure you have right adress. aint nothing worse than sending help to the wrong adress, so it is better if they double or tripple check the adress. all the other questions were because dispatcher wanted him to keep talking.
I'm not religious in the slightest, but I started sobbing when you started praying.
Anyone begging the Lord for passage to heaven in this situation or praying to keep calm, it's still sad powerful indeed
Same😭😭😭
Hey...Jesus is so awesome. You don't have to be religious. He just wants all of us to admit we are sinners and that he isn't- that hevis perfect- holy- and that he died in our place- taking the punishment for our sins upon himself...when we do these things...we take on his spirit and we can begin to make right choices!!!
Samantha Pierce same!

“I am out. My leg is down in there”
Is it just me or is that the scariest part to imagine
S2I2 nah the fact you can see the inside of your leg is the scariest
that’s probably why he said he was going to throw up .
@Jason Scott Uhm... Losing a limb doesn't sound fine to me...
Excluding the pain, I think the sound would scar me the most.
Or so I’m told
now we know why theres so much hate in the world, this guy stole all the fucking love there is to give
dargon man I absolutely like 💙(can’t say I love it-he took it all! 😊) your comment! One of the best I have read in a long time!👍🏼👍🏼
