Driving Skills... I wish I learned this 10 years ago!

- If you make your research you will find how most of the activities trough your day are repeated habits and they can be so precise that even if you consciously try to do something different will be super hard to make any difference of the end result ! But if you understand the mechanism you can change anything you want !
Driving all the different sim titles those days , Assetto Corsa Competicione,Automobilista 2 ,iRacing ,Dirt Rally,RaceRoom and other titles , my habits become super flexible and i can constantly see how can i improve my driving skills !

Good advice. Something i would also add is, that improvement is not linear. Sometimes you even have a decline in performance, when learning something new, but when it is implemented in your behaviour, you will suddenly perform better. Braking out of habits can be hard, especially when focusing on just improving lap times as a whole, trying to improve little details like taking special care to brake into the apex for some sessions and then go to something different will make improving easier and more digestable. Even though i know this is the case, i sometimes fall into the trap of just driving and hoping to improve, because training is often times not as fun as just driving around, however more beneficial in the long run.
I love this post ❤️ everything you said is a gold !
I was thinking the same thing. I jump in a new race for the week. Do an alien lap time and then I get in the habit of backing up my corners and going slow. Just so I'm consistent
@@levi859 wow what you said I saw it in an actual race in iracing a couple of weeks back. I qualified second but the guy in front was like 0,3s faster and I remember mutering to myself ok there's no way I can catch that guy I've never made such a time and to pull it out of the bag like that means he is much faster than me and it wasn't a draft track to allow me to keep up... Race starts I was consistently half a second faster and bullied him into mistakes. I then saw his lap times and they were all over the place. Yes raw speed is important as a benchmark and to prove you have the speed but it's better to be consistent and that comes with practice and analysis
Great comment 👍👍👍

Came here for driving advice, left with some life lessons.. subscribed !
But those things are so connected 😃 we drive with our heads and body parts are just a tools we move around 😁 thank you buddy 🤛 and have a great weekend 💥
Me too
I came here to see what I was lacking on driving skills, left as a brand new man. Great video!
Wow , thanks Bruno 🤛 I’m so glad to hear those videos had good impact for you buddy 😃
Always positive! I needed this today not for racing just to hear and know I still can change.
You can change anything you want brother 💪
Can't believe your channel hasn't blown up yet. Keep the good work coming and I'm sure it will soon. I'm always excited to see your notifications of a new upload. Keep it up and stay safe dude

Definition of insanity hit home with me... I find that without a guide or some tuition I just practice my mistakes
It is crazy Darren 😁 the line is so invisible and need so much awareness !
Why can’t I stop smiling when I watch your videos? You just have this ability to lift and inspire. This is the thinking mans sim racing channel for those who have an open mind . And thank you brother 😍😍🙏🙏
We laugh like crazy every time 😂 it must be just chemical reaction between us 😂

I consider myself blessed and lucky to come across this particular video. Big thanks and respect. Precision is truly the challenging key!
Thank you so much for the beautiful post Marlowe ❤️ it means a lot to me and my work !
I was skeptical at first, then you started talking about science. Awesome video. Really good and interesting.
😃 happy you liked it buddy 🤛
I was looking for advice or information that could potentially help me ride during trackday at the Nürburgring. Instead, I found advice that not only helps in life but also makes people aware of not giving up and being or trying to be a better version of yourself. Nice that i found this video.
I believe everyone out there must find what really love and then try to take the maximum and be better version of himself! I suck in many many thing In my life but for the things I love I’m getting better every day 😃 it is such a beautiful journey! I see people waiting there life every day and only if I imagine for a second to not be able and to do the things I love I see my life absolutely empty 😃
Got me thinking again buddy 🤔🤗🤙😎
Good point , makes sense we are the limit of our performance in racing only by sticking to old habits and not learning new ones to progress forward and evolve to the next level ..
Im obsessed by this science and i love studying very hard to perfect it.
The most important part of finding solution for a problem is to know ware exactly the problem is ! The best doctor is the one who can give the best diagnose ! We can find unlimited solutions after ! I will try to share what I do In some of the next videos and I’m sure many people will come with many suggestions too 😃 that’s the power of the strong community 💪
I have the raw talent... I just got in and could drive and had no idea about anything to do with racing. Now that I'm honing my skillz and understanding what I'm doing naturally by putting a name with it has helped so much. Just because you have talent doesn't mean you can't be better every day. My driving has become almost unbeatable. The only one who beats me is.... me. LOVE YOUR VID'S MAN! I'm finally one of those Alien's but I don't plan on stopping any time soon.
I love the positive thinking and believe you have in yourself brother! That was s the real key for the success! With that philosophy you have , you can literally achieve anything you wish in your life ! Big hug brother 🤗
I drive on track mainly, not sims. I'm now subscribing on the one hand because I think a lot of the videos are relevant to non-sim scenarios, but mostly because it's becoming impossible to ignore just what a cool guy this is doing the videos! Wise and positive insight. Thanks.
Thank you for the supportive Post Joseph 🤭 it mean lot to me buddy ❤️

Thanks for the kind post brother 🤗
Love the way you talk and explain things to people. I'm a totally beginner, so even basic videos are great for me and possibly for many others. Looking forward to watching you explaining tracks and breaking points, decisions, etc... You must have so much to teach with your experience. And I'll watch absolutely everything. The video editing is a plus as your videos are very well produced. But I'd watch them even if you don't put so much time and effort in the editing. You have valuable content regardless of special effects. So all I can say is your videos are top quality in all aspects.
Hope you have a happy life, but if you ever feel sad at any point, remember you built a community of people who love Sim racing and who are ready to help you in this. You deserve all the best.
Thx for the beautiful post Douglas ❤️ I love every second of the editing and I truly enjoy it but I really want to bring every meaningful information I have learned over the years and still learning every day! For me this community we build is very special and is so awesome we can help each other! Big hug buddy 🤗

I know exactly what you mean buddy and the beginning is so annoying till one day you realize you have the new habit and it feels like you have it your entire life ! I read in many books , every new habit needs 21 days and it get fixed in our brain 🧠!

A positiv mindset helps so much in enjoying life even more but also in getting better in what you do everyday. Thank you for your Videos, you explain in such a calm and passioned way that its impossible to not like your Content. With that being said I need to produce a few new Braincells now😋😉🏎🏎and than I hit the Track again
I loved the end of post for the 🧠 brain cells 😁 thank you for the supportive post man ❤️ it means the world to me 🤗
I was not a huge fan of yours, mostly because of this "spiritual approach" which some may love (and I do not as much) but I have to say -- this video opened my eyes and thank you for that from the bottom of my heart. "The wall" you cannot climb is built when you stop trying something else and analysing in-depth how you drive. One of the worst habits for me was not being patient enough. It felt very weird at first when I was coasting for a whole second at pouhon (felt like an eternity) but proved to be much faster than previous "I have to give some input through my pedals, let me trail a little more / dab a throttle".
Guys do not be afraid of being slower trying something else - I have found much time to cut by doing so ;) It is like swimming - you can make it very hard for yourself when you try too much. It is good to try something else and just see how it worked out for you.
That was really honest and beautiful post ! I didn’t realize I sound spiritual in my videos and honestly I’m not at all and I’m only interested in pure science 😃 I hope there is no people around who follow the channel because they believe I’m spiritual because that will be false 🤭 with the time I’m sure I will reveal my true identity but I’m happy to read your message as it gives me picture how I sound 😃 I talk about positivity but not from the spiritual point of view but from the scientific one and I truly believe in that ! We became what we think about and I know that is written in every spiritual and scientific book and there is a reason behind that and that is how our brain function! Conscious and subconscious mind fighting each other all the time and all I try to bring in my channel is the awareness! And I’m fully aware I don’t know exactly how to bring this information out but I’m sure I will learn one day if I keep trying 💪 thx for the honesty buddy, it means a lot to me 😃
Man I really love your videos. Even if I know a lot of the things you talk about, it's great to see how you love it and how much effort and work you put into your videos, the editing, the scenes you use and the effort you put into your rig as well.
Have a wonderful weekend and the best of luck and much much health for you and your family

Hi, I really enjoyed your video and I have to say it brought me over a dead end. After years of ACC racing I switched to i-racing and I find it difficult to start with the mazda mx5 and cars like that. I have to learn to build something from scratch and to train myself in development and I find that difficult. With your video I know I will be able to do it. Thank you for this
Coming from those GT3 monster cars to MX5 is bit painful but if you find the way to somehow enjoy the little cars in the beginning it is super fun for racing 😃 even if those two games feels similar on first try they some how are different on the limits! I drive ACC casualty for content and I have to say I’m way off from the good times like 1-2 sec of pace mainly because I feel I don’t use the brakes properly and mostly overdrive the cars on the exit and have to make corrections ! The TC kicks all the time and is so painful for the times ! I’m sure you will be up to speed very soon if you enjoy iR and stick to it 😃
Excellent advice like this presented beautifully is a pleasure to watch. I drive in time attack events and sim race a lot and sort of understand this concept but you phrased it so well I will think about it differently from now on. And for that I thank you very much!
Thank you for the beautiful post Greg 😃 is something we forget all the time even if we are fully aware how it works! I have to remind myself every time wen I feel angrier and try to work it in the right way 😁 greetings 🖖

Great video again. I am really forward looking what are those methods what you use to break old driving habits. I saw one what you mentioned earlier that go and drive some other car and try to think when you drive it how it behaves different compared to your maincar and try to analyse it. So really looking forward coming videos. What i have myself tried to do is when i do practise laps it i think track is something i know somehow how to drive around it i try not always do alone, hotlaps trying to drive fastest possible track with ideal line. But i may drive some other not optimal line what i would be needed sometimes to drive in race, or i may wait another cars driving on track and try to trail them trying to practise race situation and driving close to other car. I have understood that it is ocmpletely another thing to hotlap really fast lap alone in empty track but then do consistent, good laps in race situation 30 times or more, or 100 laps in endurance racing what i love when you have 30 or 40 other cars same time in track with different speed, different classes etc. Still learning and trying to read and watch training guides, analyse my own training and laps in telemetry software and also some competion situation expecially if there are accidents what i did and what i could have done to have different outcome.
Yeh man , our perceptions sometimes can be so wrong and we can’t escape from those habits we build! Most important part for me is to realize consciously I’m doing something wrong even if I can see it of feel it ! It is constant fighting between those two parts of my mind !
Love the video, have you read Dr. Dispensa's "Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself"? Terrific insight into cognitive behavior and how to consciously reverse your patterns. Although I have a lot to learn driving, for a long time, its kinda like golf where having a stronger mindset than physical skills has greater value.
Man , Joe Dispenza is my favorite scientist period 😃 he actually make me believe in myself and understand more about myself ! Have a great weekend mate 🤛
Fantastic subject and vid! Words to live by.
Happy to see you enjoyed it buddy 😃
Amigo, this is pure wisdom! Thanks 😊
much love bro!
Wow. This ist deep stuff.
Hmmm.....
Well done!
Thank You.
Happy you enjoyed it Carsten ❤️
I am at that point right now where I must break my habits. My laptimes are super consistent over the whole race but not fast. I drive in the back of the pack and my clock stops around +/- 0.01s every round but I am about 1 - 1.5s too slow to catch up with the leading drivers. Breaking your habits is not easy. I also noticed that I get a lot quicker when under pressure, often more than 1s quicker in race than in training sessions. Probably because the pressure makes me break my habits unconsciously.
I came for the driving lessons, stayed for the life lessons!
Your videos are like gospels! Thank you so much! Respect! ✊
So glad to read that post buddy 😃❤️💥

Sending positive vibes your way 💪
I will try to bring all details how I prepare for the races step by step! It really works 💪
Very nice.
The algorythm brought me here.
To be honest I would like to add something that I have heard somehow Sir Jacky Steward or e.g. Walter Röhrl saying within one or the other documentary and adapt it to any driving on the road, or on the track, sim racing or reallife.
Allways start driving a car very slow at the lowest RPM you feel that is possible.
Drive the perfect line within the rules of your driving mission (e.g. in normal road traffic never cut a corner but do it whilest staying on your side of the road).
The moment you notice you will need RPM because of your engine itself or for getting the car stabelized or a million other reasons you can increase the RPM.
Stay as low RPM as possible and steer as less as possible and drive as accurate as possible.
Than you will notice, that you´re automatically getting faster.
The moment you can handle it even automatically your RPM increases as well if necessary and you will get quicker and quicker.
That is beautiful comment Jerry 🤛 thx for sharing it with us buddy ! I’m positive it will be helpful for many people out there !
@@chepilevski Thank you buddy! Go on with that stuff and stay at the algorythm, ´cause many people would need those kind of videos very much.
It's not that people can't drive , it's not that they're stupid by any means , it's something far worse intellectual laziness. They just sit there saying how how how I don't understand etc but they never take the initiative to put any effort into really thinking about things. The slow ones need to be told things while the fast ones go and find things out for themself.
The reason this guy came to these conclusions is he put thought and effort into finding these things out on his own. I can guarantee all the fastest drivers are self taught for the most part. This doesn't mean not to listen to others advice , but to take some initiative.
I don’t know if I can describe as laziness or mostly lack of curiosity! We are awesome creators borne with amazing amount of curiosity and we start losing it somehow with the time ! I believe we all still have it and sometimes we just need to woke it up ! My main goal in this channel is to try and bring back that curiosity with little spark ⚡️ and not just for racing but for everything as life becomes so colorful and fun if you look into every problem with that curiosity instead of frustration 😃
Great stuff Steliyan , just got to try and change create new rhythms. Just mid build of my sim rig , need more time off

Excellent vid, I'm no "alien" but I'm getting there, learning this WAS possible is the 1st step. To do so you HAVE to step out of your comfort zone, most important are practice practice practice and RELAX, if you're tense or would up you'll never set the required instincts.
I learned this when I got my 1st wheel This was back in the days of Race Driver Grid, I was quick with a controller but was ALWAYS passed by the guys with wheels.
So I got one and mistakenly expected instant results, even after 1-2 MONTHS I was no faster... AAAARGGGHHH! Did I waste all that money for no benefit????
So along came Dirt 3 I played from the outset with a wheel only, after 2-3 months I got much MUCH better results than in Grid with a much higher average finish position and a higher win/loss ratio.
I then went back to Grid, Lo and Behold! INSTANTLY my lap times were all DECIMATED. Why? What had changed? Was it the added time and experience with the wheel or something else???
Then I had an epiphany, by trying learn in a game I had already established "instinctive subconscious reactions" and thought patterns with a controller. I had been using those same unconscious thought processes with the wheel. Sticking to my comfort zone...
THIS was why I had failed to improve, instead of making progress I had allowed stagnation to be the driving force.
By removing myself from the game and playing something new to me, I was only applying the racecraft instincts and not any controller instincts, over the 3 months in Dirt I'd inadvertently overwritten the controller instincts with a new set of wheel instincts.
From that point on I've used a new game or one I've not played for a LOOOONG time to attempt to establish new habits, whenever I upgrade hardware or want to try new techniques, I step away from my favourite game into a new arena or an old one I've not played in for a significant length of time.
It's not instantaneous, it still takes time and practice but, it DOES make it a smoother process and MASSIVELY less frustrating.
The net result is I've gone from being reasonably quick to challenging for top times in time trials and clearing out multiplayer lobbies. the intelligent ones stick around and ASK the important questions "How the HELL are you so fast...?" even the dreaded "You MUST be CHEATING to be that fast!" will ALWAYS garner the reply "If you want to KNOW how watch a race if you want to LEARN how ask and I'll TRY and help you to improve, like with training sessions I will HAPPILY watch you lapping a track and point out what you're doing well, what errors I can see you making and HOW to avoid them in future."
I'm sure You'll agree here, it's actually MORE fun to be pushed by fast drivers in hectic respectful races than it is to wipe the floor with 90% of racers, by passing on the knowledge we've learned we make the games we play more FUN for everyone. I'm betting that's WHY you make these videos too.
Man , that was a beautiful post to read ❤️ you absolutely right in everything you wrote 💪 and by the way as you said at the end , one of the most beautiful races I had I lost them by fraction! Probably that how our human brain works ! We are excited to find the patterns to how and ones we find the way we start loosing interest! The beauty of racing is there is always someone better then yourself and your brain never rest and is keeping the excitement to find different patterns 😃
Thanks mate great video,l'm struggling at moment to improve, you can't beat a few words of wisdom.
I know how it feels and I have been there many many times ! It take time ! You just need to find ware are you loosing the most and start to improve slowly! It works!! Always works, just need time !

Man, i'm almost 50, old habits sucks, and worse you know you are doing things wrong, and keep doing it...
Absolutely Mario the power of the subconscious mind is insane 🤭 I try to cut the social media the last weeks in the morning drinking my coffee and trying to create a program for the day and I can literally see my hand reaching my phone 😂 we have so many bad habits in our mind and as you said we know they are wrong and still doing it over and over again 😁
Excellent vid not many people could take this "gameplay" to such level where you essentialy take you yourself as a tool to reach your goals imstead of just the car/sim/rig ..proper i took same kind of advice previous and its the same with all things im life. You just cannot expect to sit on a couch all day and such move yourself to a rig and post an alien time. Not happening. To me simracing in terms of dedication is almost like surfing. You need to stay fit, rested to be able to stay focused otherwise youd just waste time ;)

Be open minded but aware of the current potential and be patient. Installing those new "programs" takes time.
Muscle Memory! 💪🧠
Exactly 😁
The Jordan Peterson of Sim Racing has ascended. «Clean your simulator before you go out trying to win races!»
Great channel and setup!
12 rules to race 🤣 First comment I read with my coffee and you made my day Alex 😁 I love Jordan and Mikhaila ! Have a wonderful day buddy 🤗
@@chepilevski Laughter is the spice😊 Btw. do you have any videos on your rig setup? I want to work towards complete immersion like your setup in the next few years - just need to buy a new house first😂
@@aleksanderskaarnes sounds like you are close 😁 I have few videos around may setup but not in details as I really try to woke up people’s imagination 💭 ! I will do some video in more details but for now I have this here !
@@aleksanderskaarnes at 04:40 I talk about the rig here in this video ua-cam.com/video/MTSQlx0s2gw/v-deo.html
Just like the name of your channel, appreciate this insight mate
Thx buddy 😁
Amazing info mate keep it up 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thx Mohamed 😃
this is a good video because all your points are focused in addition to your good presentation and editing. Some of your other videos seemed a little too long winded albeit informational so it's nice to have it more organized and straight to the point.
Also.. are you using a sequential shifter in a Porsche GT3??
It is long journey but I’m learning every day 😃 I’m still far from happy of the quality of those videos but like driving and everything else in life , making good videos needs lots of experience and work! Your point is straight to the point and make me proud as that is exactly what I want to achieve 💪 About the SQ shifter In gt3 cars is just for fun!
@@chepilevski you've had better production quality than many other sim channels for a while actually, you are a good presenter too. I imagine it's just tough having so much competition!
Maybe do a series where you have 10 minute videos showcasing a race you did with you analyzing what happened in terms of racecraft and driving technique? Just putting stuff out there! UA-cam is so specific with what they like these days.
Has anyone ever told you you look like Wladimir Klitschko? 😂
Thx man ❤️ I don’t see it as competition as in this place there is space for all but what I try to do is make better videos them myself every next time ! Is just awesome to improve yourself in whatever you love 😃 And someone actually called me Klitschko in one of the last videos 😁
good example is when i decided to try learn left foot braking. Start was messy but once the muscle memory started to work i masterd it throw the years. i always like to try new things with the car and i sort of like save the data in my head. Finally the car is just an a extension of your brain. 😜
Extension of the body 😃 I love that 💪❤️
What a great video mate! If you're interested in learning more details about habits I can recommend the book Atomic Habits by James Clear. That masterpiece helped me replacing bad habits like smoking, drinking and procrastination with good ones. I never realised that most of that also applies to racing.
That is a book I’m very interested in and indeed, habits are in everything! They are absolutely necessary for us to function day in and day out but also sometimes stop completely our progress 😁 I have heard about that book and really have to find time and study it as my goals are bit crazy and I will need full understanding of how I function 💪
Impressive rig. My lap time would definitely improve if i can own a rig like yours.
Thank you buddy 🤛 and 100% with you ! Equipment really matters 💪
Love your setup! Have you tried rfactor 2? Curious your thoughts, also curious if you'd ever do a video on the reverb g2, enjoying your content man!
Thx Derek 😃 I haven’t had the chance yet to dive hard in rF2 for different reasons but one thing for sure is this sim have awesome physics ! And I had the chance to test ones the HP G2 and I was amazed how clean the picture was even on very low end specs PC . I must do a video at some point and compare it with my Facebook index !
I have searched far and wide, but can't seem to find that BMW wheel @2:22 anywhere! Would you be kind enough to share the model and/or where I could find one? Thank you VERY much and keep up the awesome vids!
Hi buddy, that is from SSRG (solid sim racing gear) it is called Competition 300
I ordered it with that BMW motive!
You can find the producer on Facebook or Instagram and ask if he still produce those ! They ware one of the best quality on the market💪
@@chepilevski Thank you SO MUCH!!!
@@chepilevski Sadly, he stopped making the Competition 300 wheels as of April 10th, 2022 :-( Oh well...back to the drawing board. Regardless, thanks for taking the time to post and help me!
Only thanks. You are the best!!!!
Big hug Francesco 🤗
Hello, As someone that is getting into sim racing I really appriciate the "educational" videos you have made. Your triple screen setup video will help me alot. My questions is, do you have a video on your rig setup and recommedations for rigs. I am going to be making the rig myself but would like a rig to copy or go off of as far as design goes. I have the ability to fabricate the rollcage / cockpit from steel tubing to replicate an actual car. Thank you.
Happy to hear I’m part of your journey buddy! I don’t have detailed video about the rig but I’m super happy to hear you wiling to build your rig yourself ! Nothing more funny then that ! If you want to give you some measurements about my rig I will be happy to help!
Another fantastic "thought provoking" video RBM. And as a person that has reaching a peak of "non alien" drivers - I know exactly what driving to that habit means......................
and now to try to fix it?
Thank you buddy 🤛❤️ that concept is the most important part ! We learn every day new things and I will try to explain how I try to break my habits and we can all together polish and find different ways! But everything starts with the understanding of ware exactly the problem is and then find solution 💪
It’s definitely a hard one but like Steli says, if you do the same thing you can’t expect a different result.
When I started sim racing I was terrible. It took a lot of this forced practice where you purposely try to break your current habits and create new ones in order to improve and I’m now competent.
Very interested to see how he goes about it as I’m sure we will all learn something and continue to improve.
Can you please tell me what kind of light you have running in the background during the race? I think that makes everything even more realistic and beautiful. I think you have a softbox from Godox 120 cm but what kind of video light is connected to it? Thank you for motivating us with your great videos!
That’s the Godox VL150 buddy and the soft box is with honey grid to avoid the glare from the monitors! I have also godox SL150 but is too noisy and I use it only for rim light wen I need it!
I'm considering whether to buy the godox sl60w or rather spend more and buy the sl150w ii.
I believe the SL60 will be enough as I’m using my VL150 at around 40%
Your rig is amazing !!
Thank you buddy 🤛
I'm trying to figure out what screens you have. I can only find curved 32" iiyama w. 144hz and 1ms. Otherwise it's 34" ultrawide.
I think your setup looks the absolute best compared to any other youtuber, so I want to replicate as much as I can
Those are the iiayma 32 curved 144hz 1440p and I believe they are absolutely enough to recreate the cockpit 😃
@@chepilevski www.iiyama-monitors.co.uk/products/monitors/iiyama-144hz-monitors/gb3266qsu-b1 I found it, thx mate
My brain just explode watching this video
Hope you liked it 🤭
