I heard this hymn for the first time today. It is beautiful. Just think what Jesus Christ endured to save our souls for the Father. Thank you Jesus. I am saved by the grace of God and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior, not by works.
Notice the substance and depth in this song, how void our modern so called Christian music. This song has more Gospel in it than most churches have today.
This hymn is so precious. Humbling. Heart wrenching. Awe inspiring. Renew my heart in You, my Saviour. To never, ever take Your sacrifice lightly or for granted! Fix my eyes on it. On You 🙏🏼 So inspiring to read each comment. Love you all my brothers & sisters in Christ Jesus. His sacrifice made us such. Beautiful!
One of my favorites. This is the hymn I go to when I feel too confident, too complacent. It humbles me. I want not to cover myself, but to run naked in my shame to my beloved Lord & hold His Feet for all I'm worth. I can't even give Him anything but my humiliation. I am dirt-nothing; He is All! Thank You Lord for inspiring our brother, Tom Kelly. Thank You Lord for loving the unlovable, like me.
I needed to memorize this for my hymnology class, I forgot how heart breaking this was to think our sins cause such grief to someone who was as pure as white
Amen! Praise and thanksgiving to the Lord Jesus Christ for His sacrifice for my sins! What a wonderful Savior! And thank you, RUSavedByGraceAlone, for this gospel-rich presentation of Ortega's song. This is a beautiful setting of a great hymn of the Christian faith (penned in 1804 by Thomas Kelly).
“Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand. He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.” Isaiah 53:1-12 KJV www.bible.com/1/isa.53.1-12.kjv
Amen! May The Lord God give me the truth vision of Calvary, in the name of Jesus-Christ, i will walk before Thee looking at the Cross of Calvary with Love and Faith Amen!!!
Thank you for this beautiful video and hymn which is not well known to evangelicals. This is a complete witnessing tool about the meaning of the cross. Thanks again.
ye who think of sin but lightly nor suppose the evil great...mark the sacrifice appointed...tis the word the Lords anointed, Son of Man and Son of God.
I think these beautiful songs are brilliant, especially for your name is holy Paul Wilbur ,and the one I listened to this morning about the crucifixion,I’m not sure of the title but I will give more details at a later date , but thank you so much for these wonderful songs god bless ,keep it up .
"Stricken, Smitten, and Afflicted" by Thomas Kelly, 1769-1854 1. Stricken, smitten, and afflicted, See Him dying on the tree! 'Tis the Christ by man rejected; Yes, my soul, 'tis He! 'tis He! 'Tis the long-expected Prophet, David's Son, yet David's Lord; Proofs I see sufficient of it: 'Tis the true and faithful Word. 2. Tell me, ye who hear Him groaning, Was there ever grief like His? Friends through fear His cause disowning, Foes insulting His distress; Many hands were raised to wound Him, None would interpose to save; But the deepest stroke that pierced Him Was the stroke that Justice gave. 3. Ye who think of sin but lightly Nor suppose the evil great Here may view its nature rightly, Here its guilt may estimate. Mark the Sacrifice appointed, See who bears the awful load; 'Tis the WORD, the LORD'S ANOINTED, Son of Man and Son of God. 4. Here we have a firm foundation; Here the refuge of the lost; Christ's the Rock of our salvation, His the name of which we boast. Lamb of God, for sinners wounded, Sacrifice to cancel guilt! None shall ever be confounded Who on Him their hope have built. This hymn, and especially Fernando Ortega's interpretation of it, really captures the passion and sorrow of our Savior on this Crucifixion Day. Thanks for posting it.

It is inaccurate to say sin continues to cause the death of our Savior. Christ died for sin once and for all. "so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him." Hebrews 9:28. Again, "Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But when this priest had *offered for all time one sacrifice for sins,* he sat down at the right hand of God, and since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool. For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy." Hebrews 10:11-14
Yeshua is the gift! and all God's riches purchased by his death come from Him when we lay our hands apon the Lamb of God slain for us. Washed clean of sin by his blood and then wonder of wonders given his royal righteousness as our eternal clothing. All of Him and non of ourselves by grace thru faith as His gift.....Eph 2: 8-10
Perhaps the most beautiful, but also the most offensive hymn. Singing this is a direct challenge to our fallenness and sinfulness. I can think of few other hymns with such challenging theology that convicts the sinner and the deadly price of sin.
The One Work of The Cross; Three Aspects, One Work: The Atoning Sufferings, The Atoning Death and The Atoning Blood. The Blood Gushed forth After he died and that Blood from His Side was the Atoning Blood and Water that Gushed Forth!
We follow Yeshua - not a denomination, not a building, the Lord is my shepherd and and Yeshua died for ALL MANKIND - we choose whether to accept that precious gift or not. SHALOM.

By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, For He shall bear their iniquities. Isa. 53: 11b Yes, sufficient to all, but efficient to many, not all. He knew beforehand those who are His sheep.
Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: Romans 5:2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Romans 5:3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; Romans 5:4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope: Romans 5:5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. Romans 5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. Romans 5:7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
Beautiful hymn. Thinking of Jesus Christ and forever grateful for he died on my behalf to save me a sinner. Thank you in Jesus name I pray.
Totally sobbering! Halleluia what a SAVIOUR.

This is just SO TRUE!!! ❤
Greetings with blessing from Denmark. 🌹❤️🇩🇰
How amazing that our Maker chose to be our Redeemer even at a cost to Himself we cannot yet fully comprehend. We love Him. He first loved us.
The Disire of Ages, I long to see Him.
One of my favorite hymns, and Christian vocalists. I love the smoky and soothing voice of brother Ortega❤️😇
One of my Favorite Lenten/Good Friday Hymns. I was raised German Lutheran and this Beautiful Hymn was in our Hymnal.
This hymn is so precious.

Going through a difficult time and soo needed this to remember our Savior went through all He went through because of my sin.
The harmony is so beautiful!

Nneoma Na where in my post says that sin "continues" to cause the death of Christ?
and ours as well
Exactly how can we say we love Him when we crucify Him afresh by consistentantly sinning ( Heb 6:6). Grace to overcome is in Christ alone
We dont break commandments we break the heart of God
