The man who wrote this song at one point has turned his back on GOD and later he met a lady on a stagecoach who tried to witness to him and in the process she shared a hymn with him and as he looked at it he realized it was his hymn and it in turn drew him back tot the Father. The early church would have been Hebrew, Aramaic or Greek, English didn’t exist yet in the first century.
