Shoulda wacked a bit of stain on um, to show how the stain works with the detailing and acts as a highlighter, a nice dark stain then maybe a quick wipe down with some spirits to lighten up the shallow features and darken the deeper carvings ect, very nice lesson. I'm suppose to be sleeping but a creative person kept me awake .thanks!.I also recon a crown on the top face would have looked divine , like my great great great great great great greAt great greAt great great great great grandfather King Euta Pendragon with arthur under and his second son under that.. age and facial hair never evades no old man of the trail !.. hope you are well. Bless you !. From the hidden dragon good knight
The rotary tool you're useing seems to have a lot of torque doesn't seem like the average dremel unless they really stepped up their game in resent years, what is that tool?
It's a fordom and yes it's a step up from the dremel although I use the dremel for many walking sticks also. I use the fordom for changing bits and hand pieces quicker mainly. Here's a link if you want to check them out...amzn.to/2JfkrXT
Hey Kevin, I watched one of your videos where you carved a rolling pin. During that video you kept saying you were going to power carve one. Have you done a video on power carving a rolling pin and I missed it? If not can you do one soon? Thanks for the videos you have done, I have been enjoying them and have learned a good bit. As a beginner carver I am looking forward to seeing many more.

Hi! Great video. What kind of wood would you recommend for making this type of walking staff? Thanks,
You can use any hardwood like maple or ash dogwood or even cherry. Fruit woods work well also like Apple for instance.

Awesome video, couldn't understand what kind of disc you have for that grinder. What is it called?
I just made a video on grinders and disks today , check it out on the channel it will explain everything....cheers...Kev
Are you using the dremel 4000 ? I have and older smaller dremel but sure it is not turning near as fast as unit.
I use any dremel and also a fordom, I recommend at least a speed of 3200 rpms on your dremel though .
What are the best woods to use for these sticks?

I use a dremel and a fordom either one will work.
Informative video ...but... it would be nice to hear what you are saying while your tools are on. Talk first then grind and add comments after.
