This is awesome. I'm really glad Porsche decided to bring the flat-6 back.
It's because they have so many 718 Turbo 4's sitting on USA dealer lots. Porsche may be German, but they're not stupid.
Have you seen the second hand values of 718 Caymans and boxsters? One year old cars have basically lost half their value, because nobody wants the 4 cylinder. That would be a huge influence on the buying decision wouldn't it.

@@Chrissy-H I bought my M2 after smh at the 4c. COMPLETELY can't understand why they thought that was a good idea. on the plus-side it looks great, great tech and the 718s does have excellent performance. It wont be bad for a 30k car in 2 years :)
6 cylinder has always been there for gt4. they never brought it back

Honestly Porsche is so good for having Andreas out there so often showing the public through cars like this. We could have easily gotten a 5 min vid with just Henry but they take the time to have the head of GT cars out here for almost half an hour.
He seems like such a great and humble guy, especially considering being such a giant in the industry. No ego or arrogance whatsoever, just super passionate about what he does

That's a beautiful interior. Not overstated or garish, just very clean and simple. Nothing looks out of place. Everything looks so perfectly positioned, the perfect shape and functional.

Only a few changes: 255/35r20 on 9's, 305/30r20 on 11's and 425 PS. Also 525 PS for the GT3 with a 3993cc(102.108mm bore and 81.28mm stroke), 255/35r20 on 9's and 305/35r20 on 11.5's. Then 550 PS for the GT3 RS with a 4321cc(102.616mm bore and 87.08644mm stroke) displacement, a 9K redline, 265/35r20 on 9.5's and 315/35r20 on 12's. Next would be 750 PS for the GT2 RS with a 3993cc(102.108mm bore and 81.28mm stroke) displacement, 275/35r20 on 10's and 325/35r20 on 12.5's.

AP did a great job of walking us around the car. For a midship the GT4 seems like it's more in line with the older 911s of the past, lighter, more raw and driver oriented. I like what Porsche has done for this generation of their cars.
Car of the year. What an achievement. While everybody is going with downsizing and turbos, Porsche comes with a 4 liter non turbo B6. I am drooling all over.
Not one part of this video was boring and that's not easy to do when u explaining a something for this long great informative video👍👌

well in the uk there will be limited numbers!! I went to a local opc and asked about 2020/2021 cars ? Basically no chance!
Ridiculous I would ring round a few others dealerships , or actually go in person, give them a letter of intent and a deposit, think they are fobbing you off , you need to be very pushy , write to GB Porsche head office in Reading, and complain that u can’t even get a car in 2021, I expect Porsche dealerships will sell you any other no GT car that’s in the range.
Not sure what the problem is wether it’s a 992, Cayman etc all is required is a product slot.
Who needs a marketing department when you can let Andreas Preuninger explain the engineering behind the car?! 👌

Respect for Preuninger. He is a great example to other brand bosses by coming out of the air-conditioned ivory tower and telling the Porsche enthusiasts on the ground exactly what's going on. Brilliant news about extended production: no more wide-boy speculators wrapping their GT4s in carcoons with nil miles to get a profit. You don't need 500 or 600 horsepower for an enjoyable drive. As Preuninger said in a recent interview with Autocar, the recipe for a car you want to get up for to drive in the middle of the night is 1400kgs, 370-400 horses, naturally aspirated, manual. Thank you Harry.

Drove with a 981 GT4 the other week, and damn it's one of my dream cars, if only i could afford one.
Everybody seem to complain about the gearing being too long in the 981 gt4 did that ever bother u also i would like to know if the new gt4 has the same gearing

@@enderzebak2863 If Porsche is saying the GT4 is perfect with that "gearing", then it will be perfect for this car! Mostly Americans complain about the "too long second gear"... But why?? Here in Europe, especially in Germany, you won't find many people who complain about it! Americans don't understand the car and its purpose, I think...!

Someone taller than Henry is a rare sight! Thank You Mr. P driven many of your cars and TBH love am all. Driving 718 GT4 at the moment of watching this video.
It's always a pleasure to listen to you two talking about a new Porsche, whether a GT car or the 911 R. They are videos worth watching over and over again (especially when trying to "justify" a new purchase!). Another great Andreas Preuninger video was the one that showed him driving the then-new 997 GT3 RS to the Ring at night and then describing the car in detail the next morning.
I can't think of a better brand ambassador in the entire car industry than Preuninger. He's passionate, smart and can provide infinite detail without taking away the fun factor.

Without any real options besides the chalk color about 160k EURO in the Netherlands. Probably well worth it!
This is my dream car... 718 GT4 6-spd in Miami blue w/ satin black wheels. I'm thrilled to hear Andreas confirm 2-3 years of production because that means there should be plenty of pre-owned examples available when I'm ready to buy.
People like Andreas are what make an excellent company.
It's so great that they're finally taking the 718 seriously. For years they were afraid that they would make a 911 competitor, but it seems like that fear is finally forgotten and they're making the Cayman the best car possible. Absolutely love it!

My absolute favorite videos! Henry and Andreas talking about new GT cars! I love the realistic discussion that Andreas has about trade offs and compromise in the creation of these cars. It's so refreshing to hear as opposed to the hype filled discussion about the latest million dollar hyper car. I want that Spyder so bad, and it is almost affordable by normal people.

I chased a Cayman GT4 in Wales this year, even though I had more power and far more torque, the Cayman just annihilated me in the corners. It was a blast to chase and bet the owner had one heck of smile on their face! Note: I wasn't overly aggressive or tail gait the owner, just a good drive with someone else out for a dive. Incredible car, would love to own one some day 👍

He said it's the same transmission as the 2016 981 GT4. Are the gear ratios still the same? I think everyone agreed, those were a bit long to be truly enjoyable on public streets.

This just made my want to Spyder even more! If that’s even technically possible. Great video and Andreas Preuninger has so much knowledge and enthusiasm for the product, they need more people like this in charge of car companies
imo the spyder looks better than most 911 cabriolet. Saw some one with a red spyder the other day, it just looks so sexy. But im not sure if its the sound quality from video recording....the engine sound in these are soo damn muffled up...especially for NA flat 6, it shouldn't sound like that....after hearing what the GT3 sounds like, one would expect the GT4 to sound somewhere near that of a GT3...but not even close.

Since a large majority of customers will order these cars with a radio, Porsche should offer a smaller and lighter radio instead of the large touchscreen GPS radio that is in almost every Porsche. A single DIN radio like older cars had would be just fine. With the GPS showing in the dashboard display they wouldn’t need a big center screen. This way they could still offer a stereo system that’s half the weight of the larger one.
