Opening Day! Harbor Freight opened in MY town today! Oxford MI I was one of the first to shop in ‘my’ Harbor Freight 😊. Was awesome! It is like I have a giant day time tool box around the corner from my garage!
Some people can't accept the fact that Harbor Freight isn't the same place it was back in like 2012. It's their loss, because there is a TON of stuff at HF that is as good or better than anything you will find at the Blue or Orange stores.
Things change. Hey, remember when the best tools and the best selection and warranty on non-tool truck tools was a place called Sears? Remember when Datsun and Toyota were ridiculously cheap cars? But we realized how dependable they were. Now they’re expensive and just not as good as they used to be. So why is it so hard for people to accept that HF isn’t the place to buy just cheap tools anymore?
Or early for some of us. My opinion on H.F. changed after I ordered a top brand name vice. That was supposed to be USA made that wasn't. That vise broke on first use, and the company wouldn't warranty it. Faulty casting, I went and bought a H.F. 6in one still works great 20 years later.
All of my battery tools are Milwaukee . So I'm kinda locked in to that platform but would definitely consider HF brands because even Milwaukee is made in China. Have bought Bauer corded. All great. Just got a HF wood chipper. So far , no issues - saved $116 with a coupon.
I used to be one of the harbor freight haters, till I found the den of tools, now I’m an addict, and the manager at the closet one knows me by name 😂😂😂
Every time I watch your show I end up going to Harbor Freight and buying more tools! Like that VISE that fits in my trailer hitch receiver! Omg I gotta get me one !
The band saw stand was a total game changer for when I fabbed a roll cage for my BMW racecar. I used to just use a cut-off wheel on a grinder but the stand made the whole job less like work and more like play.
The Badlands jack is a dang good one, I used mine yesterday lifting one of my Jeeps up to check and pressure wash underneath after setting on jack stands. When it was dropped for sales, I drove to 3 H. F. stores to find one. I got one store's demo model that was supposed to be the display one. Kudos to the manager for letting me get it. Best dang floor jack I've had out of 5 different ones. I've even used it to level up a building.
I used to think Harbor Freight was garbage. I then discovered your channel, started buying little things and now I’m a believer. I probably spent over $3k there in the last two years and everything has worked fine for me so far.
I get your upload notifications now. Yours is the only account I do this for, Bear. That’s how well you do these videos and how much I look forward to them.👍👍
I’m a big fan of the Gordon drop point knife. That’s my normal EDC. Holds an edge well, opens pretty smoothly, handle is comfortable and at 10 bucks, if I lose it or break off the tip, I’m not devastated. I lost one last month (actually forgot I was carrying it and had to give it up to get into a concert.) My HF in Helena has been out of them for a month. Decided to try the Gordon skeleton frame - not even close. Once I can replace it, that’s going into the tool box as an emergency knot wrench.
Best harbor freight secret, get a part time job there, 20% discount and it stacks on EVERYTHING. Anything on sale, the ITC prices even CLEARANCE items will get an extra 20% off. I got a 6 gal compressor for $65. Plus the pay isn't bad for a part time stocking job
Even though I am not old, I remember when HFS(Harbor Freight and Salvage) used to have internet names like Harbor Fraud and Harbor Fright to warn people about tools that might get them hurt. They have come a long way now that the son is running the company. Great video Bear!
Got my 72 inch top and bottom US General. I debated grey or black for maybe half a second until I came to my senses and realized the only correct answer is the slate grey. Excellent buy, plenty of space without going into crazy debt. Highly recommend!
Great video. Would like to add the Bauer 20V Grease Gun, Bauer 20V ratchets, and US General Power and Air Tool Drawer Organizer. Everyone says they have one grease gun and it is always the display model and nobody will sell it. I asked when the ratchets would come out and 4 workers told me it will be 6-12 months at least so I bought the cheap hyper tough set at walmart. Now they are in new tools on the website, but I can't find them anywhere. Almost went to Hercules, but I think I would get Milwalkee before I spend over $300 on batteries and such.
I used to think that Harbor Freight tools were junk but after watching your videos I have changed my mind about them and now I own several tools from Harbor Freight and I love them!
I’ve been saying it all along catching flack, “Bauer Power!” I’ve pretty much got all I can use now just waiting on the new 3/8” ratchet to arrive next week. Between Bauer and Pittsburg, I have to say they’ve got me covered. Retired and damn busy at it!😉✌🏼
I have a few other things in this video. I have a 2014 ram 1500 crew cab, however sometimes it's too big to get around where I need to. So I bought a second vehicle, a Subaru Outback Touring XT with a trailer hitch. I may look to get that small harbor freight trailer for when I have to make dump runs or don't feel like taking the truck.
Thanks for the tool recommendation from HF (ICON Flex hewad rachet and bit set)! I just bought it, and it WAS tricky to find at my HF! To all of you that go to pick it up, be forwaraned.. it IS in the rachet aisle, BUT it's SO small a box (5.5"x2.8"x1.625") - it took 3 of the staff and I searching for 5-6 mins. to find it. The guys there were all saying the ICON stuff is super quality.. And the price seems to match that assertion! Thanks also for keeping the video short - I don't have time for 15 plus minute videos!
The WEN spiral planer is good (I had a 1/4" of snipe with soft pine). If the Hercules planer swaps out for a spiral head - that would be a 'knock out of the park' (but its not there yet)
I hope Harbor Freight stays who they were as they grow into what they'll be. My first "complete" set of tools was put together largely with HF items which I replaced over time with higher end tools and then passed on the HF stuff to my nephews who are now starting to do the same thing.
I started buying Harbor Freight tools when I started working off a service truck. Lose a snap on socket your out 40 bucks. Instead, the same one will cost 8 bucks. Pretty soon, every tool on the truck came from Harbor Freight! You'll never hear me complain about the quality. I recently retired and sold the truck. But keeped the tools.
I am going to go pick up one of those icon pocket knives soon. I have one cheap knife with a good heat treatment that sharpens well, and I am going to give this one a shot because G10 is probably my favorite material for grips.
I've got Icon ratchets everywhere. Home, shop, rig/cars, motorcycle/Atvs/Rails, in my hunting back pack, range gear. One of the best tools anybody makes bar none.
HF needs to get predator series racing going at local kart tracks. Could be huge. Right now the closest Briggs LO 206 engines are about $850 with carb and exhaust bone stock. Still needs break-in and adjustment. Would be huge for getting more American kids racing.
Have you not talked about the new icon ratchet/socket sets that have comeout? I may have missed a video, but I got the 3/8 and 1/4 right when they came off the truck at my Harbor freight the managers didn’t even know what I was talking about lol. It’s an incredible set with the foam storage less than the price of one snap on ratchet.
im very glad that harbor freight remains somewhat underground, im worried that if people were to start investing into them more than the golden standard bog box stores, that HB’s budget friendly motto would hit the can. they are already pushing the envelope with the hercules pro line, which i must admit ive heard their tools are very impressive. i love using the pittsburgh hand tools along with their extension cords/air hoses n fittings, etc. good prices and good quality, just dont use their power tools
I’m not real big on harbor freight stuff but, anything they sell with the name Hercules on it, it’s better than anything else you can buy anywhere.imho
Gearwrench makes a set similar to the icon locking flex head set. It has a small one and a long one plus all the bits. It was 65 on sale near Christmas. Not sure what the normal cost is.
Icon knife and welding table are available in limited stock at several HF stores around me. All the tow trailers and everything else on this list are in stock. Fortunately, I have impulse spending in check, because this could have been a very expensive video for me
At first I did not like Harbor freight. But now I starting to buy a lot more of there tool. I but a work shop chair and I love it. Harbor is ok for some stuff. Thank you red for the video’s.
My local HF only ever has the yellow, orange, and white tool boxes in stock. They never have the other colors. They have all of the colors on display though! The badlands jack is almost always in stock. Purple? Nope! They don’t have any of the jacks or boxes in purple. And for some reason, I can’t order the larger/heavier stuff from the website.
Excited to hear about the new trailer coming out. Tip: Do not buy the current folding trailer. I my opinion it doesn't do anything well. Only good for a DIY project by someone who likes to do a lot of welding.
The Jack is nice, but I dont know how I feel about plastic tires. I think I really need metal wheels on anything over a ton that is connected to the ground with cheap plastic
Hey, Bear! What can you say about the Gordon 2.9 inch drop point knife HF sells for under $10? Is it worth getting to throw in the car/truck or is it truly cheap? It looks similar to the Icon, but might not be near the quality.
I bought the Icon folder. I also have that super cheap skeleton frame folding knife they sell. The skeleton one is definitely a beater. I wasn’t happy with the icon. So I’d say, give that Gorden one a go. It might be the sweet spot.
I picked up the icon knife and was disappointed. I wish it had a way to flip the blade with the thumb. And the locking bar gets hung up on the rough grind of the flat on the blade, preventing it from fully going into place. The blade locks, but the locking bar and blade only overlap by 50%. Makes me concerned it might close by accident someday. I’d take it back for a warranty exchange, but it’s never in stock…
No one talks about how they got rid of the weird smell that used to be there and I’m glad for it. Felt like you were getting cancer just walking in the door 😂 I have the Quinn master but set and it’s extremely nice for the $
Hey there ...I just ordered my 1st Estwing hammer and got it from Amazon. It says on the hammer and handle "Made in Taiwan". I could have sworn that you said that they were made in the USA. Am I wrong, or did something change??? 😢
Most of their offerings are still made in the US but they've introduced a decent aount of Taiwan produced products in recent years--many of the pry bars, for example. Hopefully they aren't moving production over there for things that were made here.
HF does have some good tools especially some affordable gimmicky tools that you need here and there but dont want to pay an arm and a leg. however they do still have some real turds in there too. it's all about what you need a lot of it is just rebranded tools from other reputable companies i.e. i saw some rebranded bondhaus hex keys i have in my box at work.
Am I the only one that bought the 72” tool box? I waited for them to produce a top box and then Icon showed up and then I didn’t see anything from US General in that size again.
I couldn’t find the ICON bit ratchet set for the longest! When I finally found it in stock I bought it for $45…?! A week or two later I saw it was at $40??? Idk wtf happened, pretty annoyed at that
@@denoftools YES!!!!! Really didn't have a need for a portable one, but was going to start looking for a stationary (floor or benchtop). Guess I can stick with "red" then... 🤣 Still wish they made the table saw, though.
