all rock revolves around the same 4 chord changes. they might be in different keys with variations but its all the same base. its step lower, step higher, and fifth higher then the root note. anyone who knows what that means can agree
@ResistReact Coral fang sounds like territorial pissing ! your right man. BUT COME! nirvana is pretty inspirational and fucken bad ass riffs :P everyone steals from everyone
first thing I thought when I heard it was it sounds like something from the first QOTSA album, I still hear it like that. maybe I'm just dumb. Thing I do know, a chord progression is not a song and thats what you guys are talking about.
OK ill settle for it being very grungy but if i didn't no this was distillers then i would automatically think 'nirvana'. but hey they're both one of my favourite bands so works for me! maybe i just remember nirvana playing a song with a similar riff or feel n that's what makes me think nirvana i dunno
It sounds like Floyd the Barber, I Hate Myself and I want To Die, Big Cheese. Don't forget Nirvana was inspired by punk. And not to mention that those Nirvana songs sound like eachother/themselves, too.
nirvana and this song, completely different drum rhythm- different timing- different guitar riff, i don't know what you guys are talking about, if we are talking genre, yes they both sound grunge.
Ok I am a major major Nirvana fan and I'm just saying that it is similar to Oh the Guilt but not the same. When I first heard it I didn't go "THEY COPIED NIRVAVA!!!" I didn't even notice it untill I read the comments. They are similar, not the same.
@RadioFriendlyNoise ok calm down for a second! nirvana and distillers are two of my favourite bands. surely comparing them shouldnt be a bad thing! it does sound a little like floyd the barber tho. im not saying they riped it off or nything its just got the same vibe. and wat does the killing joke thing have to do with nything?and come on... u cant say its 'nothing' like a nirvan riff
it sounds identical to nirvana oh, the guilt but there is a slight difference and how many riffs in the universe sounds similar it happens No ones getting mad at kurt for teen spirit having a identical form to boston's more than a feeling riff or his about a girl sounds totally beatles which we all know he was a big beatles fan people get inspired or just have really good taste to have similar elements. it's not like miley cyrus is doing this riff then you may have something to bitch about
It sounds very similar to the riff from oh the guilt. Mind you i do listen to copious amounts of nirvana. I have no problem with it. Better than bands like oasis who have 3 sangs that sound the same or half the pox shit on the radio today that is totally interchangable and crap. At leased this is good.
that chord change there is one of the most common in rock music so thats why it sounds familiar. Maybe you idiots should listen to the words of the song and think about that instead of trying to attribute what she is doing to someone else, then you could see the genius of it.
what the hells the problem? it sounds exactly like nirvana. its totally a Nirvana riff. don't go giving thumbs down when people are making valid points
doesn't sound a bit like Nirvana, and even if they did, Nirvana ripped EVERYone off, 'the meat puppets','shocking blue' ( haven't heard, listen),Bowie, ect, dissapointing ,
For me, it sounds exactly just like the Distillers and nothing else
the distillers are the best punk rock band that has existed, all their songs are really cool and I love brody she is really inspirational! lol
I love Brody so fucking much, I cant respect musicians that do playback.
And I love her cause she makes good music and she sings live! :)
Fucking awesome band. Nirvana is awesome. Hole is awesome. I love this style of music.
The difference is that Brody doesn't suck.
NIrvana and the distillers... my favorite bands
BUT THEY DO IT SO WELL
Amazing
brody is mah idol I look up to her like no other :D
it doesn't help that she is gorgeous!!!!
I love you Brody!!
yes...
is true
well put, you are very right...i love her too!
great song!
Rad jam. Always was.
amo esta cancion ♥
agreed :P i love brody
That was fucking great
@HAYDS510 i agree its the first thing I thought when I heard it. it dont take anything away from either band though
Sounds more like it'd be an outtake from In Utero.. but coming from me, when In Utero is my favorite album, that's a good thing.
This song is the same was the nirvana song: Curmudgeon!! I just love it! Brody is Punk! ;)
Even though I love Brody too...
I think they are a fucking great band despite her look...they all fucking rock!
all rock revolves around the same 4 chord changes. they might be in different keys with variations but its all the same base. its step lower, step higher, and fifth higher then the root note. anyone who knows what that means can agree
@mcgowans100 sounds similar to scoff, too hahaha. Still love this song.
@BaronessStrange listen to the Nirvana Song "Oh, The Guilt" The guitar riff is pretty much identical. but they are both awesome bands.
oh cmon, its just 2 chords that fit each other.
@BaronessStrange thats fine.
OK ill settle for it being very grungy but if i didn't no this was distillers then i would automatically think 'nirvana'. but hey they're both one of my favourite bands so works for me!

@Donald666 The drums are really different but the guitar not so much... Kind of different tought...
A younger Jian Gomeshi on guitar.
or even 'i hate myself and i want to die'
its a great great song
It sounds like
Floyd the Barber,
I Hate Myself and I want To Die,
Big Cheese.
Don't forget Nirvana was inspired by punk.

and oh the guilt
@ResistReact
the problem is that its purely subjective.
i also think it doesn't sound one bit like nirvana.
its grungy alright...but thats it.
Bigger is always better.
maybe im wrong here
but i think this puts me in mind of Nirvana?
its awesome
Brody Dalle is the sexiest woman alive
How old was she here?
mid-twenties, she was born in 79 this was 2003 or 2004
@RadioFriendlyNoise ok calm down for a second! nirvana and distillers are two of my favourite bands. surely comparing them shouldnt be a bad thing! it does sound a little like floyd the barber tho. im not saying they riped it off or nything its just got the same vibe. and wat does the killing joke thing have to do with nything?and come on... u cant say its 'nothing' like a nirvan riff

it sounds like Floyd the Barber
NO! You're all wrong! it's sound like "Oh the guilt" by nirvana, but more slower.
brody's stomach distracts me...ohh this woman makes me realize how Bi i am.
what does it matter if its a similar riff? listen to Killing Joke's Eighties.
Really? I find it kinda easy after a bit of practice =]
It sounds very similar to the riff from oh the guilt. Mind you i do listen to copious amounts of nirvana. I have no problem with it. @HAYDS510
i'm sorry but i still don't agree.
