And because he worked mostly alone, most likely the real kill count is couple of hundred more. To be a confirmed kill someone else has to see it, and Simo worked hard to not be detected doing his work.

Today 6th of dec is Finland's Independence Day. 105 years old 💪
Typical Independence day is celebrated with litting blue/white candles on the windowsill it's an old tradition with multiple meanings. One is the candles will sign a safehouse for jaegers of white guard.
Evening tradition is to watch the Independence Day ball, which usually brings thousands of guests to the Presidential Palace in Helsinki.
Last week, the president hosted an early Independence Day celebration for war veterans and former members of the Lotta Svärd women's defence organisation to ensure their health and safety.
There are still an estimated 3,000 World War II veterans in Finland. Their average age is 97.

I guess it is said here already but i say it anyway. When a German magazine " Der Spiegel " interviewed Hayha what did he feel when he shot an enemy soldier, he said " The recoil". I read somewhere,
i don´t know is it true but he also said " a rifle kills, but fear paralyzes ".

Another great reaction! - And you've really come a long way on your Sabaton journey! I think it's awesome that you know so much about their different sounds and how they've changed and developed their style throughout the years. I remember back when you started; you asked whether you could call yourself a member of the Sabaton Army, and I think it's clear to everybody that you've definitely reached that point (long before today). You've developed a taste for what you like and what you dislike and have insightful and thought-provoking things to say about different songs and you know so much history now! It might sound strange, because I'm not sure if I'm the right person to say it, but I'd like to express how proud I feel that you've come so far on this journey and still choose to continue to explore, critique and comment on their music.
I know for a fact that you've gotten some of us Sabaton fans into other stuff you're reacting to. Thanks for letting us explore music from all over the world together with you! Congratulations to 10K subscribers and always: stay honest, stay classy - and stay awesome, because you are a really awesome guy, Touchy. Cheers!
Edit: It would be really cool if you did a celebratory livestream when you reach 10K, like a Q&A or something.

I don’t know if the english term is Bottling, but it is basically the tactic taught even in West Point, where you take out the first, the last and a few vehicles in a convoy (so the convoy can’t move) and then siege the burning lighted pockets in the darkness.
Invented in Finland and at best gave win against about 1:50 power. Believe me, we were pretty amazed too at the time!
Also, pretty much every technique taught to even US snipers about blending to environment and how to hide your shooting spot. Häyhä was the first sniper who didn’t have to move too much, since there was no way to see him.
And summer in Finland? No darkness for almost two months, so odds to detect Häyhä would have been even slimmer during summer. 🇫🇮

I'm a Finn and I didn't hear about him until through internet memes. Here he is well known but not praised as a "god of war".
We tend to see all of our heroes, nearly every adult in Finland at the time, as equal and own them our respect as they practically gave us our existence.
I'm sure if I dig up, I'll find multiple other ~100 kills counts as russian tactic was just to run against fire.
You pronounce Ä same way as you say A in the word Anger or Bag. Guy in the video butchered his name.

This is my own personal opinion about history every Nation should focus on their own individual history when teaching their citizens because I think it's better for the citizens to know their own country's history more than that of their neighboring countries and if they want to know more about those countries histories they can go look for that themselves

    • @corseeis482

Here's an example they talk about how in America we don't know anything about how much the Russians have struggled during WW2 me personally it makes sense that we don't know much about Russians struggle during WW2 when we were focusing on our own struggles which we would put into our own personal history I think that's something that everybody forgets nowadays is that every nation and every person has their own personal history which everybody Can have a similar experience too but can never truly experience the exact same emotions during that time

    • @jonashansson2320

@@corseeis482 The problem with the US way of doing it is that since you basically cover nothing about world history and at the same time ingrain in your people that you are always number one, a lot of you think that your history is something special. Your history is not any more special than any other countries. And as in the case with WW2, how many percent of the US population think that it was the US that won the war for the allies? While in reality, it was Russia that by far did the most heavy lifting.

  • @6th_Army

I still say Simo although a great soldier who was a great shot, was not too impressive.
    Primarily due to the situation.
The majority of his kills where soldiers barely moving if it all out in the open. Easy pickings for any soldier.
The only time he got to show what he could do was when the Russians tried using counter snipers.
Even still, the distances for his sniper duels was always in his advantage before he had anything to do with it. He had the iron sights & his partner had a scope. And you couldn't change the zoom level on those old scopes(have shot with it before. Very, very hard to hit anything inside of 600meters).
Simo was a great sniper. Unfortunately, he was effectively babied through & never got to be the legendary sniper he could have been. He was effectively a level 60 player in a level 15 lobby. He was great, but never got close to his potential.
