I got out to do a little bit of car camping during a heavy snowfall warning, it really took me back to the times I lived in a vehicle. Temperatures dropped to -14 Celsius, or 7f. I stayed fairly cozy through the night, but there were some cold moments.

People sometimes sleep in their cars randomly here at my apartments. I never bother them and only once before did a neighbor seem to have an issue with it as I was outside smoking and she came up to me and pointed out the car and said she had an issue with a stranger sleeping there. She lives upstairs where it would be extremely difficult for someone to bother her. I just told her that we should all be so fortunate not to have to sleep in our car and I doubt the young female (I saw her when she first pulled in) was going to give her much issue and we should leave her be.
Sleeping, especially in your car, you've got enough problems as it is and it disgusts me that it could be even considered a crime. Yes, some bad people live in cars, but bad people live in houses too.

And in the Federal Reserve Bank Bldg. in Washington DC. Elites and their agents the cops sure don’t want the slaves saving $ by sleeping in vehicles. Nope. Gotta keep em in high rent apts. and mortgages. After all, too much prosperity is bad for the loan biz.

One of the best locations for overnight car camping is a hospital emergency room parking lot. If spotted, you’ll draw more sympathetic looks than suspicious ones… people assume you’re holding vigil with a loved one. Even security won’t bother you. I lived in my little 2 door Sentra in the mid to late 90's for a little over a month. Tiny car, but I loved it! I was much thinner, younger, and more adventurous than I am now. I had recently left one job, and would be starting a new one but there was going to be a 2 month gap between them. So instead of moving back in with my parents (whose home was about 6 hours from where I was living / working) I chose to "camp" in the car. Some moments were a little creepy, some people would get suspicious of the car being parked for too long in one spot. But I must say the time spent in my car is one of my life's highlights! It was oddly freeing, and liberating. I miss those rainy nights the most. Nothing is as cozy and comforting as hunkering down in a car on a rainy night. Each time these videos include some car camping, I immediately think of my old Sentra and simpler times. Cheers!

This is 100% factual. I was living homeless in my car because of a bad home environment(growing up as a teen I was a couch shopper, so once I was seen as an adult, obviously my mom was like okay get out), and once my car died soon after that, completely homeless on the streets in Minneapolis. And this was in 2020, at the beginning of the pandemic so everyone was sheltering in place no stories were even open so I didn't even have the luxury of homeless shelters or even soup kitchens.
Luckily I receive social security payments for disability, because if I didn't have that little money I would have either died of starvation or I would've had to steal a lot from stores, even with my payments it was a struggle to feed myself on the streets those 4 months. Eventually, right before George Floyd was killed in Minneapolis(I was homeless on lake street where he was killed one week before) I got placement into a group home because I was proactive in getting off the streets.
It was a huge traumatic experience because in the beginning of the pandemic in Minneapolis homeless shelters and soup kitchens, even social offices were closed, so I was on the streets in wintertime living off of gas station food and coffee, didn't even have a luxury of pan handling because everyone was inside their homes. I even did have to steal food quite a few times, and it was traumatic watching the city burn down and the riots after I got into a home, I've seen some things and we can leave it at that.

It still scares me, probably in a ptsd kind of way, that someday it could all fall through and I'll be out on the streets again, but I'm thankful I have cushions in place that that probably will not happen and I get to live currently with everything that I earned because of the pain I had to go through.

A lot of people get stuck in that mode of thinking though that their world is like 60 square miles IF THAT. And the idea that you can actually take the car (money allowing) wherever you want either doesn't occur to people or doesn't seem possible or like a good idea because it completely shatters the routine. That's what travel and vacationing is good for though -- shattering routines and forcing people to live differently for a little while.

One way to decrease the condensation on the windows in cold weather is to actually make kind of a "tent" above you when you sleep, preferably out of an absorbent fabric, mostly over the head area. For example, string a line and drape a beach towel over it, stretching it out to make kind of a steeple over you. You can't really eliminate the condensation, but this helps reduce it by capturing much of the moisture from your breath. Additionally, in really extreme temperatures it noticeably helps trap warmer air around your head and reduce drafts.
And thanks so much, Steve, for encouraging people to donate to help the homeless. 🥰 It can happen to any of us, there aren't enough safety nets to prevent it. And in the long run, it costs us all when someone falls down and no one helps them back up - we lose a lifetime of what they might have otherwise contributed to the world.

We all crammed into a two door, falling apart SUV full of our junk for about two years and a white panel van on and off. We did experience harassment by police several times and criminals broke into one of the windows and stole my mom's purse. If our experience was like Steve's was here it would've been much more pleasant. It took us awhile to learn how to survive that way and we made plenty of rookie mistakes.

These little videos are a great cure for the pandemic. They take take your mind off of all the stress that's out there and lets you focus on a simple little exorcize.....goofing off. In a positive way. Any type of camping insulates you ( or it should ) from the constant stream of irritating News that we're bombarded with daily. Keep the videos coming.

You're so right about a neighborhood knowing their vehicles. We know all the neighbors cars as well as their kids and friends. Not busy bodies, just something that happens. Would definitely notice a different car especially someone sleeping in it.

Living in a car sucks ass had to do that shit for almost a year in my younger days.. makes you feel like things will never change or get better but it will just keep your head up and try to keep a positive mindset (to anyone currently living in their car). Your videos would have been a godsend for me back then. You are helping people alot more than you think with videos like this mate.

I grew up with lake effect snows swooping across from Canada dumping 60" per night on a regular basis. I've walked out onto snow from second floor windows at times. Love these vids that show lots of snow!

Born and raised in Canada. I’ve slept in my car while traveling but I’d be nervous to do it now. It seems the world is getting more dangerous especially for a woman traveling alone.

Someone walked by your car and tried to open it to steal stuff, you can see the foot prints. Importance of keeping it locked while you sleep in it.

Bad things happen to EVERYBODY, it seems. If you're lucky enough to have a vehicle, of any sorts, you have a makeshift home. You've helped A LOT of people Steve.
You've also successfully become an important, member of society.

When I was a teenager . There was a song called Chevy Van. Since then I always wanted one. When I was 33 I finally bought one. It just happened to be a Chevy van. Not just a Chevrolet but Chevy Van. I lived in it for about five months. I had a 13 inch tv with built in vcr. A great time in my life. I knocked off a bucket list without even realising it.
