You hit the nail on the head I think. Also, those childhood fantasies never left me even after 74 years. A little like being with Wendy and Tinkerbell and Peter Pan. Thank Steve so much
I never thought of this channel like that… but yes… I can relate… childhood fantasies! Imagination! Unfortunately now, camping in the city green spaces has turned less “glamorous” or “fantastical”, or even, to be honest “stealthy”, in our city, because of the homeless camps that have taken over our public natural areas… bringing with them tons and tons of trash and abandoned cars, and sometimes accidental out of control fires. So i do appreciate your videos, Steve, because of the stealthiness of those stealth camping videos, and because you respect the land that you camp on! Keep it up my friend!

Having a coloured tarp underneath the white one will help to reduce light pollution. A emergency blanket works as well and will reflect some of the heat.

Exactly! I would look at it like a badge of honor. You are getting so big you have haters!!! How cool is that. Like a baseball player on the road getting booed because he is so good.
Along with your white tarp, an extra dark tarp just a little longer under the white one to close would give you a "black out effect" at night. You could close off the ends to where you would still have ventilation for the burner and any condensation issues. A plus, which you know, is the extra warmth that is trapped somewhat. Unless someone is bored and just looking around or they are actually looking for trespassers, you would be good even with the white light glow. It would probably be mistaken for a light thru the woods on the other side. Now the thermals from the police helicopter might be a problem with the burner.
Seeing your tarp in the distance with the big light on inside reminds me of my cousin Steve's adventure. When he was 13 a friend of his had an Army surplus parachute, the old round kind made from white and orange nylon panels. Steve and several friends went camping on a hilltop on the edge of town and used the parachute as a tent, with a Coleman lantern hanging inside. About 11:30 that night they heard something moving in the trees outside, and when they looked out they saw a police officer approaching the tent with his gun drawn. Turns out an old lady at the boittom of the hill had called the police to report a flying saucer had landed on the hill. The Chief and one of his officers responded, and the Chief ordered the officer to go investigate while he maintained a secure position at the bottom of the hill.

@@phillipg7315 Yep. They would have ran and told their parents and anyone that would listen that the actually saw the Legend. Steve could also bring with him a portable speaker that amplified and echoed the beer-tab snap throughout the woods. Man, if the Legend gets popular enough, we could stage it so that we film Steve from a distance in a very blurry video, write books and make films about our experience, and we could eventually make our way to "Coast to Coast AM!" All proceeds will be used to buy us all $3K ultra-light backpacking setups, and we all meet up with Steve, camp in the woods with him a few days, and maybe we could have the "1st Annual Beer Monster Fest." Can't wait.

I was camping in Colorado in May and night time temperatures drop to 32F(0C). It’s not as bad as you think. Steve has good sleeping bag(I’ve had cheap Coleman 0F sleeping bag), and good insulated hammock, where I e had insulation pad. And it’s more than ok to sleep . One thing I hate to do is get up and leave my sleeping spot as it’s nice and cozy there and cruel outside;)
I always admired how resourceful Steve is while camping. Finding interesting imaginative ways to set up shelter on the cheap. But when it comes to food he knows the value and psychological benefit of amazing food. It’s honestly a pleasure seeing how you do what you do. There’s a real survival skill in all this. People for whatever reasons may find themselves homeless and your content might save lives as they remember stuff they saw Steve do. Cheers brother! Stay safe out there -Mike in Cleveland
Hey bro...... I have been living out of my vehicle for about 3 months I found that a minivan with stow and go seats works like a dream thanks for all you do! Peace
Hey bro, I love watching your vids, they're very relaxing for me. I sometimes put your old vids on for background noise while I grind in games or do other things. I don't comment often but I wanted you to know that you bring joy to a lot of people, that is what is important. Don't pay any mind to the haters, stay positive and stay safe sir.
As an ex-trucker, I can tell you that none of the truckers care what you're doing in the woods, even if they see you. They might watch you for a few minutes and wish they could be out there with you, but you don't have to worry about them.
Yeah truckers are cool i thought they were gonna tell me to stop smoking my weed at the truck stop I heard a whole life story that night and it was beautiful
Only thing that worries me is when he does a live stream because people can oddly find out where your at when your doing in and I worry someone may report him stealth camping or something.
There will always be the mean ones. All they ever get is a lump of coal in their Christmas stocking... Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Happy Camping, Steve.
Mean people suck and they're usually ' liberals' ...go figure, the Daddy hating world savers who never have blak folks over or climb into the trenches to git derty... with the lower classes...
Oh yes, I had a similar idea - if there was a tarp/sheet/liner that is white on the outside and dark on the inside - or an opaque white-ish tarp. A lot of winter camo is not pure white for better stealth.
Steve I hope you get this comment. You take me where my imagination would go years ago when I was 10 or so staring out of the car window on trips thinking about hiding and camping in some of the same odd places you do. Thank you for your hard work from Minnesota.
I started watching Steve's videos a few months ago and I really enjoy them. I'm retired and hoping to go on the road and either live in a van or converted cargo trailer. Can't quite do what Steve does, my age won't let me. Learn a lot from him and would love to see his "beautiful" wife, although I understand not everyone likes being in videos. @@davehebert3403 Those meddling kids that ruined Steve’s other shoot wouldn’t have gone near the Legend of Lager Monster.
@@phillipg7315 Yep. They would have ran and told their parents and anyone that would listen that the actually saw the Legend. Steve could also bring with him a portable speaker that amplified and echoed the beer-tab snap throughout the woods.
Man, if the Legend gets popular enough, we could stage it so that we film Steve from a distance in a very blurry video, write books and make films about our experience, and we could eventually make our way to "Coast to Coast AM!"
All proceeds will be used to buy us all $3K ultra-light backpacking setups, and we all meet up with Steve, camp in the woods with him a few days, and maybe we could have the "1st Annual Beer Monster Fest." Can't wait.
Focus on the positive comments ignore the haters.... like u said 99 percent of us love these vids, 423 thousand subs and ya 99 percent of them love this stuff :)
Is it just me or is it a shock if you see that Steve actually read your comment and hit the love or thumbs up? Maybe I'm just weird but it's like a celebrity noticed you
I think it's just timing to haha mma fighter Holly Holm use to post alot on ig and she liked most of the comments usually right after she posted them but the longer it went the less haa.. But one thing is for sure Steve doesn't seem to afraid of the dark and the woods hahah
There were a lot of lights peeking through the forest, I'm sure the light from your tent would be confused with one of those 99% of the time. Awesome videos, I like your channel!
"...replenish with a little vitamin Beer.....that is not a sound heard in nature, so you have to muffle it. Either that or bring rum...." Classic!
Yes I love it, soo stealing that line. “Honey I’m not day drinking....this is vitamin beer.....for my health”
You’re so entertaining and clearly a genuine and good person to the core. Thank you for making content for us to enjoy!
You're welcome!
If it was “Crazy Wife” and “Beautiful Neighbor” this would be a complete different channel.
I'd probably watch that one too 🤣🤣
ROFL 🤣
Crazy wife eating a taco, and beautiful neighbor drops steve off at a highway median and then goes and gets his nails done.
@@jeffallan3140 same here lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣
now you're back waxin' with Steve
If someone put up a video showing that Cancer had been cured, I guarantee there would be some thumbs down. It is literally impossible to please everyone about anything. We all know you are awesome. That's all that counts. Keep up the Great videos. We all enjoy them very much. You brighten many many many people's days.
Of course those would be the folks who get paid from cancer fundraisers. They hate it when their income stops.
We’re I Steve, I would be more concerned with not freezing to death than being seen by passers by. My lovely wife purchased one of your “Hunker Down” hoodies for Christmas! Merry Christmas to you and Beautiful Wife and of course Crazy Neighbor!👍🤠🇺🇸🙏✝️
Stay safe out there
-Mike in Cleveland
Yes a Saturday night surprise!! Camping with Steve while I'm hunkered down
Hey bro...... I have been living out of my vehicle for about 3 months I found that a minivan with stow and go seats works like a dream thanks for all you do! Peace
“Around twilight” so about 20 minutes past noon in Edmonton 😂.
Steve - A man teaching the world how to camp where they are not supposed to lol.
I do the same thing! I've watched the uhaul stealth video a dozen times at least lol
“If they don’t know I’m stealth camping, I’m just a creepy old guy in the woods with a camera” 😂 love this guy
😂😂😂
As an ex-trucker, I can tell you that none of the truckers care what you're doing in the woods, even if they see you. They might watch you for a few minutes and wish they could be out there with you, but you don't have to worry about them.
I agree I drove OTR for several years I could be watching a guy in the woods and not even thinking about what I am seeing lol
Yes, that is right. Trucking is a very difficult job in and of itself.
Yeah truckers are cool i thought they were gonna tell me to stop smoking my weed at the truck stop I heard a whole life story that night and it was beautiful
Wonder how many truck drivers are serial killers. Is the best way to kill people on every state. lol
@@Cris.P.Baconn Many of em are I can tell you !
Good man Steve! Fuck the haters!! You looked like a kid at McDonald's when you were eating your dinner, very funny. Keep up the good work!
There are haters? Wtf
what haters?
The 133 thumbs downer’s.
@@bird4dbk420 Probably bots and completely irrelevant. This content is great.
Mean people suck and they're usually ' liberals' ...go figure, the
Daddy hating world savers who never have blak folks over or climb
into the trenches to git derty...
with the lower classes...
All I can say is I love your camping trips...makes me feel like a kid again. 👍
Beautiful Wife - thanks for always dropping Steve off and letting him make these videos!
James Norris My wife would love to drop me off in the woods but I’m afraid she’d never pick me up.
Steve, you need to put some darker lines running through that white tarp. That would break up the colour just the same as animals do for camouflage
ooo, good idea.
Yeah man, we used to make our winter camouflage dirty on purpose to make that them more effective.
Oh yes, I had a similar idea - if there was a tarp/sheet/liner that is white on the outside and dark on the inside - or an opaque white-ish tarp. A lot of winter camo is not pure white for better stealth.
I was thinking a brown tarp to blend in more with the trees. Like a deer standing still in the
woods. You would just blend in.
Maybe a lower slung shelter and cammo netting could help cut down you visibility and let you capture more precious heat.
Steve I hope you get this comment. You take me where my imagination would go years ago when I was 10 or so staring out of the car window on trips thinking about hiding and camping in some of the same odd places you do. Thank you for your hard work from Minnesota.
Likewise! 👍🏻
Will keep watching, he seems like such a nice person.
Try imagine someone filming a nature documentary for BBC and the camera pans over to Steve stealth camping
I can hear David Attenborough now.. "the semi-ferral Canadian "hunkers down" in the forest where feasts on whatever gourmet ingredients it can source - tins of lager being available year round - it has no need to hibernate - even as we approach the longest night of the year"
Hahahahaha you got me man😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Stratus 128- Made me spit coffee on myself! 🤣🤣🤣
Bear Grylls: The rules of survival never change whether in the desert or an arena. ... Alright folks that a wrap.
Steve: Now for step 2.
Bear Grylls: BLIMEY! Where'd you come from?!
Steve: *Sneaks off steathly while they blink.
That’s very funny 😄
Your channel is going to grow and get bigger in terms of viewers. I really hope that you stay as authentic as you are!! Your videos are really cool. Just straight forward and relaxing. Cheers from Europe :)
“I have a single use plastic bag, wrapped around in this flashlight. I guess it’s a multi-use bag now.” HAHAHAHA I love you Steve.
Wow...in NYS we call’em ‘’Cuomo Bags’... the Gov makes you may 5cents for them🙄
Steve , your channel is addictive.
And primitive camping up north in the winter is very impressive.
Steve is such a cool gentle dude producing poetic stealth content
Notification from Steve? Insta-clicked!
Hell ya
I've been bandit camping for years. And I would like to say I love the way you work
I absolutely live these videos. If I’m being honest my favourite part is after I arching stealth camping videos like this. I spend however long I need on google maps finding the camping spot.
I love your work mate, too many people sit at home with negative thoughts and watch in envy of other people living. stay strong brother, Cheers from the Sunny Coast, Australia
Ignore the haters Steve, deep down they're jealous of the life you're living and the videos you're creating while entertaining hundreds and thousands of fans around the world, don't give them that attention or pleasure, just have a step 2 and laugh at them!
Steve, your videos are cozy. Don't worry about the bad comments.
Dam bad commentaters 🤪. Naw I actually always try to lift up the negative and relate because we’ve all had those thoughts or feelings at one time and a positive touch can make the difference in a $*itty day.
Just caught the part about bad comments, regarding your videos… So I thought I would share with you that a couple days ago I was having one of the worst 24 hours of depression I’ve ever experienced. I was having a very difficult time finding any content anywhere that would distract me, and make me feel anything other than numb. It was one of your videos that helped bring me back. I can’t even tell you what it is specifically, but there’s something therapeutic about watching you do this. Thank you.
Steve, I don’t comment on videos much, but you really shouldn’t worry about any of these negative comments! You’re an awesome dude and one of the most sincere people on this platform. Keep doing you man and I’ll always keep watching.
Bought a Hunker Down hoodie. Thanks Steve you're really helping all of us who are stressed this holiday season.
Steve, don’t let any of the negativity throw you off your game. You just keep doing you because you have an amazing ‘everyman’ energy and your videos have gotten me through what appears to be covid-19 (loss of taste and smell). The last two days I’ve been hunkered down on the couch with this great fuckin content!
From Kimberly and Keith
Keep up the awesome work Steve , you’re an inspiration to everyone
Man, you don’t even know how much your videos brighten my day. Thanks for staying true to yourself and following your passion. Nearly half a million people love it!
Always anxious to see a new vid! I don’t watch regular TV anymore with great content like this available.
I love it when Steve is so paranoid. Makes the video some more exciting. hunker down….and stay low…👍👍🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻 Mike from Florida
It's almost a special event when I receive a Steve Wallis UA-cam notification. Another good'n, cheers Steve. Lee 🇬🇧
I work across the street from the park and we do little walks around the green space on our lunch breaks ☺️ it’s so cool seeing you in my hood! Hahaha
😀😲
Update: this park has become overrun with unhoused folks and they distribute a metric ton of litter through the woods and grassy areas. There is a disc golf course here now though.. so that’s cool I guess 😏
You're awesome Steve, keep up the awesome stealthy work! You bring a lot of awareness and compassion to the rough-living community just by doing what you do. It is appreciated and you are a good wholesome personality on this platform.
Steve is the best! I always look forward to “camping with Steve”
I’ve been inspired to do some off season stealth camping myself thanks to Steve! I don’t film the camping but there is always a step 2 toast to Steve!
Steve Wallis is a Hunker Down, Stealth Machine! He brings a whole new look on the outdoor life! Love you Steve! Stay safe brother!
It's crazy when I haven't been able to keep up for a few months, finally watch some of your newer videos and you upload one right as I'm watching.
Haha same here
Please, please, please DON’T Let people’s negativity affect what you do! I love your content! This channel is AWESOME! Keep up the good work and keep the video’s coming!
I was hunkered down in bed and I noticed that Steve had uploaded .........it happened again......I fell asleep to the relaxing tones of Steve, so this my 2nd attempt at watching, I will make through this time! 😆👍
Hey Steve when stealth camping in the winter, bring a mylar blanket with you. With the set up you have in the video you could tie it off under the tarp and it would dampen the light and reflect the heat better for you.
I really enjoy your personality and positivity Steve.
Always respect his effort for a good dinner even stealth camping. Steve enjoys it like he should!
Some great ideas I gleaned from this Steve. I've worked in manufacturing for a long, long time and I can totally see where a guy pulling into a packed full parking lot at shift change (aka 3rd) could get away with stealth camping right there. I might just have to try that theory out at my old job. Thank you!
