Thank you so much for these videos! You go a little fast on a few questions, but I've been taking private tutoring, have several prep books - and I like your no nonsense approach. Very comprehensive. I wish this was the real test!
Great info! NOTE: I just took the online proctored version and I would NOT recommend it for the CBEST math subtest. You cannot use scratch paper, only a text box to take notes; no drawing. The online reading and writing should be fine, but trying to do all of these problems can be super frustrating and wastes so much time. Good luck!
Thanks for the heads up, Anthony. I was going to take it at home but then I read your comment. I changed my testing option and took the test at a center.
I haven’t taken a math class in 10 years!! I watched this video and part 2. Thank you! If it wasn’t for these two videos I would not have passed the cbest math portion on my first try.
Jessica Villalobos sorry didn’t get the first notification. This practice test is literally 90% of the test with same type of questions, but different numbers.
@@allisonweaver1001 there are some places still testing. the person site shows which ones are allowing it. you may have to go a little farther than normal and most likely in late June or July.
careful with questions similar to #24. He got lucky in getting 110, he added wrong. He said H=10 L+15 and he got 25. When he had to add H=5 L=15 and get 40. That 10% was not a distraction. total was 100 then add the 10%. That makes it 110inches needed of tape.
Really enjoyed the simple explanations. I was watching another video and the way problems were explained were too complex. I almost gave up. I’m so glad I found your video. Thank you:)
WARNING! If you are taking the Onvue test at your home, workplace, etc. The test is not similar to this practice test (the one that is given as the practice test on the CBEST website). You are also NOT allowed to use scratch paper. Instead you use their "notebook" which can be compared to using the most basic form of Microsoft Word. It changes the way you figure problems completely! If possible, go to a testing center. Unless you feel that you are very comfortable with math and can do a lot of calculations in your head, then the Onvue test may work for you?
@@atoshaz.553 Hello, great question! They don’t provide you a calculator nor can you bring your own. Trust me you won’t need one lmao. You get as much scratch paper as you need.

@@atoshaz.553 you’ll do great! It’s honestly not that bad. The practice tests are very similar to what you’ll see on the real one. I don’t recommend wasting your money on other resources/books. I know I am the slowest person in the world when it comes to math and this video is definitely helping me prep for my upcoming CBEST Math test but #17 why isnt that answer A: -3 as opposed to E-why are we adding a negative to a positive? Sorry Im just a little slow and confused.
Sorry it took a while to respond. It is the answer E because you want the total temp change from the -15 to the 12. No need to apologize, you are doing the work and with practice you will become good at math.
Thank you....very, very helpful...on the ‘box and tape’ problem it think you mistook the 5” height for 10”. I did my calculation and added %10 and it added up...can you confirm that?
Zak, I agree! The total length of tape for the package was 100" plus the 10% (10) equaled 110". I think he stated 10" for height instead of 5". Adding the 10% needed for overlap is not a distraction in my opinion but part of the overall answer.
Thank you for solving these problems. Your camera did not show the test clearly so not printing it out was not an option. i really wish you had explained more in terms of your thoughts on how you came up with the answers. For example, #7. I had to really look at that problem to figure out that the "8's" have to figured into the problem lengthwise and width wise. You didn't say that. #24. I can't figure out for the life of someone how you got 25. You mumbled something about 30 minutes. I figured there is 30 minutes from 2:00 but where and how and why the 25?? Then you took the mileage to Caanan and subtracted it from 25 to get 37. WHAT????
If he is traveling 50 miles per hour but is only half an hour into his trip he has traveled half of the 50 miles he would over an hour which would be 25 miles (50/2). For example sake, if he had driven a full hour at 50 miles per hour he would be 50 miles closer to Caanan which is 62 miles away and therefore we can deduct 50 from 62, but the question asks for half that time so we take 50 MPH his speed and divide by two to get 25 miles travelled in 30 minutes which we can then deduct from 62 to get 37 miles left to reach Caanan.
Thank you for making this video. Number 24 was missed by counting 10in instead of the 5in for the length, this would have required the additional 10% to get 110.
Thanks, Jonathan! This video was a tremendous help. I passed the Math section and I owe a lot to these two videos.

Easiest simple mistake you do not measure with a rule from 1 you measure from the unmarked 0 the ruler was aligned to the 1 so you had to subtract1
