I dropped out almost 10 years ago from my first semester just because I couldn't pass my basic algebra class (Flashbacks to failing it in HS came rushing back) and felt so demoralized, thinking I'd never achieve my English teacher dreams. I had decided I had a word brain, and not a numbers brain. But if you make up your mind on something like that, you make it so. Probably will be a year or two before I can go back, but after your video, I do believe more than I have in a long time I can overcome this math hurdle. Thank you.

I'm with you. I was killing Spanish in HS but I had to drop it because I was so poor in math I needed more time with it. I pick up languages like trading cards to this day and basic math makes a fool of me. 🤷♀

Seeing good reviews on this channel so I'm going to give it a shot... I took HS as JOKE but I'm going back to school to get my Associates to further my education. I could Proudly say I'm a HVAC/R certified Universal technician with a few other trades as my back up. My test date is this 31st coming up...
I haven’t been to college in years, and math is my weakest subject. I already took the reading/writing and passed. I’m so nervous for my math accuplacer test I’m taking on Monday. I’m going to watch this playlist and hope for the best! Wish me luck, I’ll need it. 😅
The problem with multiplying by the common denominator is that you have to keep the parenthesis and it messes up your equation. You need to just start with getting rid of your Paranthesis. Then combine like terms. Eventually you will have 1/2x + 3/2x + 3/2 - 1/4 = 5 and after combining like terms and using mixed numbers and solving for x you should be left with 17/8 not 15/8

@@ReneesNest91After doing the practice tests provided, I was able to score a 90% on the actual test! I highly recommend doing those first if they are provided, it let’s you know specifically what you need to refresh yourself on.

@@ReneesNest91I feel you! I hadn’t done math in 8 years and literally had forgotten everything to do with rules and formulas except for order of operations. I was just trying to get a good enough score to skip intermediate algebra before taking college algebra. I will have to take trig, calculus, and statistics after that but the tutoring center on campus will come in handy for that. Keep practicing! It will pay off I promise. You got this!

First question confused me because How do you know when its supposed to be in parentheses and when its not? Cause i thought the first one was a but it ended up being d because of the parentheses. TIA
@@ZandriaGossett-jq4qq It was pretty easy. I’d say most of the questions were like the sample ones. If you don’t get all of the first 20 questions correct, then it automatically directs you to the diagnostic section which has 48 questions. The diagnostic section was very easy. But overall I did pass.
Not sure you'll see this but to anyone else watching who might know- for question 2 why wouldnt I distribute the 4 to the (x + 1) or could I have- but it just would've made extra steps?

i almost passed but my school has a class that replaces the accuplacer exam meaning if i take the class i don't have to take the accuplacer this is also a technical college can you make a video based on what these classes will be like

Hi Ms. Amber, I am prepping to take this test in 2 weeks. I feel so overhwhelmed and I am so happy I came across your videos. You are kind, patient and very detailed in the explanation. Question for the 3rd problem. As soon as I saw it my brain said. 1 kilo = 1000 grams. ok so 500 kilo grams X 1,000 grams should be 500,000 however all I did was move the comma over 3 three zeros. I remember being taught this way back, back, back when I was in school. Would this method also work?

@@ReneesNest91After doing the practice tests provided, I was able to score a 90% on the actual test! I highly recommend doing those first if they are provided, it let’s you know specifically what you need to refresh yourself on.
@DeborahBelville way to go! did you want to place high for a particular subject? I want to place high enough to skip remedial math but not too high to where they expect calculus or something from me
@@ReneesNest91I feel you! I hadn’t done math in 8 years and literally had forgotten everything to do with rules and formulas except for order of operations. I was just trying to get a good enough score to skip intermediate algebra before taking college algebra. I will have to take trig, calculus, and statistics after that but the tutoring center on campus will come in handy for that. Keep practicing! It will pay off I promise. You got this!

@@ZandriaGossett-jq4qq It was pretty easy. I’d say most of the questions were like the sample ones. If you don’t get all of the first 20 questions correct, then it automatically directs you to the diagnostic section which has 48 questions. The diagnostic section was very easy. But overall I did pass.

Hey so I have a test kind of like this it's not an Accuplacer its a buisness math test to correct my grades it has these subjects in them and I wanted to know if this course would help with that, since I'm guessing yes but I just needed to be fully sure before I fully commit to this

Hi Ms. Amber, I am prepping to take this test in 2 weeks. I feel so overhwhelmed and I am so happy I came across your videos. You are kind, patient and very detailed in the explanation. Question for the 3rd problem. As soon as I saw it my brain said. 1 kilo = 1000 grams. ok so 500 kilo grams X 1,000 grams should be 500,000 however all I did was move the comma over 3 three zeros. I remember being taught this way back, back, back when I was in school. Would this method also work?
