  • With Sir Keir Starmer declaring himself a ‘YIMBY’ who was prepared to ‘bulldoze’ through the planning system to get homes built, and the Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill becoming law, October saw housing and planning rise to the top of the political agenda.
But will the Levelling Up and Regeneration Act’s planning reforms - including the National Development Management Policies - be enough to increase housebuilding to solve the housing crisis and drive economic growth? And even if they are, what do planners and the industry need from the Government in the short-term to stabilise the development market and increase housebuilding as quickly as possible?
Join Centre for Cities and expert panellists for this event discussing whether the Act will help tackle the housing crisis and stimulate economic growth, and whether the Government and Opposition really are ‘YIMBYs’.
    Speakers:
    Tom Dobson, Managing Director, Quod
    Emma Cariaga, Director, British Land
Anthony Breach, Senior Analyst, Centre for Cities
Chair: Andrew Carter, Chief Executive, Centre for Cities
