I understand what you're saying, but I just had to say that Morgan and her crew do, and have had several opposing views. Especially on Father Knows Something.. Morgan is keeping Jerry on his toes haha 😂. Anyway, I assume there's mostly agreeance on these stories because most people of sound mind would and probably should have similar views.

…people can change their opinions because someone voiced theirs and they agree. I don’t see anything wrong with that. If you’re changing your opinion to keep the peace and not make someone feel bad I get it but that’s what a conversation is supposed to do. You’re supposed to see another side to your own opinion and either stick with what you think or change it if you truly feel like what you said was wrong or not a part of your opinion anymore.

No shade to any guest hosts, but Spencer was a breath of fresh air. He instantly spoke his mind, he wasn’t hesitant, guarded + overly cautious (which can negate the whole point of a podcast).
His bold, open (+ accurate) opinion enhanced Morgan’s, instead of swaying or stifling it. So good that we’ll ignore all the _at the end of the day_ qualifiers.

@@choukaspic4712 Same! I’m glad I’m not the only one who notices this. I called it out a while ago and got soooo much hate for it. Even Morgan replied to my comment trying to defend herself. The problem is when they are being hypocritical/contradictory and/or change their opinions solely to suit the audience/guest. Be true to yourself, folks. Yeah, someone can change your opinion with a different perspective, but that’s not the same as being hypocritical/contradictory about your takes or basically lying about your opinion because of who you’re with, which both have been done more than once on this podcast. That’s what the problem is and I hope Morgan sees these comments so she can understand many people notice this. I will say, Lately she’s been a little better.

Vegetable story- all things considered…if she’s the one cooking, she cooks how she cooks - meaning: mixing veggies in the sauce. And if you don’t like it, cook for yourself. His family has totally let this happen. If I had an adult brother who came to my house upset because his gf “hid veggies in his food” and he liked the food…i’d laugh in his face.

I wish someone would do this for me😂😂 I hate veggies but I think it’s only cause I’ve “hated” them my whole life. I know I need to eat them but I just can not bring myself to eat them and enjoy them. If someone blended veggies in my food and I enjoyed it how dare I be mad😂😂

      Exactly this!
My bf came over to my parents house, my mom was making spaghetti with homemade sauce. I told her that he wasn’t a big vegetable fan, so she took half of all the veggies and blended them right into the sauce, and put the other chopped ones in aswell. By the end he still had some pieces to the side, but he had no idea how much veggies he actually ate and he loved it so how is that wrong?
8 years later, I’m still blending veggies, one of the best hacks I’ve learned 😅
(He knows and watches me blend them, he really just doesn’t like the texture)

  • @msdawndawn8
    @msdawndawn8 Рік тому +418

I did that veggie trick to my sons father when we first moved together. He would always say he hated certain veggies but I thought that he hated the textures not the taste of them. So I did an experiment for a week, which involved me blending the veggies. He loved it. I then told him what i did, and he was so excited that he actually loved veggies but had a texture problem. To this day he cooks with veggies himself. He is even eating some of the veggies without blending them now.

She talked to him about her concerns, he agreeded to cut back time and get ventilation installed he said "I'd even dig with my father's old gas mask" after the talk they spent the weekend together(although he got antsy on Sunday so OP let him go back early) OP said she didn't want to push therapy bc he agreeded to cut back and hes of the mind that you don't go to therapy unless something is wrong with you and she didnt want him to think she was saying something was wrong with him. She did ask why he tunnels and he said "it's just pleasnt when I'm down there. I always feel safe and calm, and I'm always happier when I leave than when I went in"

The woman who was the "plus one" is an amazing thinker in a stressful moment. I am really socially anxious, and a major huge massive trigger is the very idea that I'm in a place that I shouldn't be or am not wanted. If I arrived at a wedding, introduced myself to the bride, and she burst into tears, I would have unlocked the superhuman ability to self-combust. My soul would have left my body so fast, it would leave Earth's orbit before going to heaven. I now have a new primal fear, and that is a host(ess) literally crying over my presence at their event. I need to go take some deep breaths now.

Having a two hour breakdown is the bride waiting for OP to do the exact thing that she did. I feel like she was literally trying to get that result by making a huge deal out of it. Basically guilting OP into doing something about it. Especially crying in a corner in front of everyone.

Just throwing this out there - the bride might be on the spectrum or some flavor if neurospicy. She could be super hormonal (either pregnant or her cycle is hitting just wrong)

Also, if it’s a catered event I wouldn’t be surprised if they had additional meals ready to go just incase something happened like an additional person showing up. I had 4 extra people show up that weren’t invited. Did I cry for 2 hours and ruin my own day? Nope. I moved on quick and had fun.

I now live in a very dog friendly area and it’s been several years since the attack and I’m m a little better about dogs after being attacked but no one wants to put their dogs on a leash and if a dog starts charging at me the owner will just be smiling and saying oh she likes you , she’s friendly.

I am so sorry you had to go through such a bad experience. I really hope that one day you will completely heal from that traumatic experience. I think it should be necessary to have a dog on a leash while going on a walk, es because you honestly never know what a dog might do under different circumstances, affected by different factors. It’s my opinion that you can never predict how a dog will react, so no owner can with 100% certainty say their dog will not attack someone, no matter how friendly the dog might be.

They could have hand foot and mouth or like literally anything. Doing that with the cake was SUPER unsanitary, unsafe, and just completely dangerous for all the guests at that party! How inconsiderate. Babies are so easy to get sick and giving people a mangled cake with baby germs IS a big deal! So many guests could have gotten sick if that baby was carrying something bad.

I understand the bride being overwhelmed and probably stressed, but surely ONE person in the bridal party, the groomsmen, MOH/Best man, parent of the bride or groom/family of the newly wed could have gotten their head into problem-solving mode

I think OP bfs should of been the one to say something instead of OP needing to lie to leave the awkward situation. He should of gone up to bride and groom and said they were leaving since him bringing a plus one was such an inconvenience(hence bride crying for 2 hrs.) Made both bride and groom feel like the asses that they were for not communicating what they chose to do with his plus one that was already given from the beginning. He could of gone on a weekend mini getaway with the gf and enjoy their time regardless which would of avoided any issues between him and OP. OP didn’t have to be the one to come up with the solution. If one of my friends made my plus one feel uncomfortable like that, I would of just left with my plus one.

Also, the bride's reaction was a bit much maybe but it also could've been a panic attack (stressful day + that last tiny thing) or potentially even a trauma response. Like it's definitely too much for what happened but emotions aren't always rational.

For the vegetable story: As someone who has an ED that gives me a lot of texture issues, it can be hard for me to get enough vegetables in my diet. But I actually make an effort to find SOLUTIONS to my issue. They sell a veggie powder called ENOF which I use to make sure I'm meeting the daily servings. I put it in sauces with tons of flavor and I can't taste it at all. A serving of the powder gets a serving of vegetables in, so if im short one day or even if i need to shop and don't have any, I can still get them in. There are ways to help him get veggies in that he may be more comfortable with once he knows what it is. I think she's great for wanting to help him get the vitamins and nutrients his body needs, however they should have had a conversation. Personally, someone adding things to my food without my knowledge, regardless of the intentions, would really freak me out (also related to my ED). I'm in grad school, but I'm home with my family for the summer and winter breaks. I eat differently than my family, and if there's something I don't eat, I cook for myself so I don't burden anyone! OPs boyfriend? He's willfully being a burden. And while I get that she should have told him, he was definitely being unnecessarily rude to her.

Loved this episode, just a small note for the last story- you can be groomed at any age for more reasons than one. I am a grooming victim, was groomed from the age of 14-16 by a 22-24 year old man who exploited me sexually over the internet. However, my grandma is in her late 70s and she was recently groomed by a man online who befriended her, and then tried to trick her into sending him money. Since she was convinced they were friends, she tried to send him money. Thankfully she didnt figure out how, cuz shes old, and the bank later told her to not do that but
You can be groomed at any age, for more reasons than sexually. It is when someone, usually older or with more power than you, befriends you looking to exploit you. They trick you into thinking you’re special, that they love you, will gift you things, love bomb you with compliments. They will get to you on an emotional level, where they have you wrapped around their finger, simply to exploit and use you. Sexually, romantically, financially. They dont care about you as a person. They only care about using you. Youre a toy, an object for them to use then discard you when they have sucked you dry.
Alot of people, me included, is made to belive they are special. That they are “the chosen one”. That they are truly loved. You become delusional, wearing rose tinted glasses.
While i do think that girl was the ass and definitely disgusting for doing what she did, it could still very much have been grooming. Dont think there was enough details for us to 100% know but its still a possibility

They are notorious for having unpredictable behavior because of backyard breeding, and many people get doodles as a first dog thinking it will be fine, then neglect to train it, and end up with a dog who is a complete menace which it sounds like that dog is.
ALSO, she didn't get mad over the KFC smh. She was mad over the lack of consideration her husband had for her feelings about getting the dog, and THEN not bothering to train the dog and allowing its bad behavior.

And sometimes having extreme views that make you take extreme actions like building a bunker can also cause you so socially isolate. Just a thought.

Personally I am picky and dont like vegetables, except for mushrooms and broccoli (and tomatoes if you count that), I would LOVE for some one to do that for me so I can get the veggies in somewhere

I can’t even fathom giving him an entire cake to smash; let alone feeding the remains to all the guests. I’d share his cake with him, sure. But, I know where he’s been and what he’s touched/eaten. But even I don’t want to eat it after 😂 I’ll be giving my son a cupcake to smash and I think it’ll still be perfect for him.

That dog is not a proper emotional support dog(ESA) cause they need to have some training, and the dog refusing food in front of them is one of them. It's a stressor to have your food taken, so why won't you get an animal that'll cause stress when it's supposed to reduce or help with your stress

For the tunnel story: maybe I've been watching too much true crime, but especially if no one has been into all areas of the tunnel but him for a while now, it needs to be checked out - without him here - by his significant other and several people that she trusts. It just gave me the hair-raising feeling that he might have someone - or multiple people - down there. Like the Reverend in The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, lol. The amount of time that he's spending there - obsessively, it seems - and his heightened mood when he gets back just all strikes me as very odd and unsettling. I'm not sure he's digging anymore. That might have been phase one of a much bigger project.

Hi Morgan, from the island of Guam here! Been a fan of this podcast for half a year now and always binge watch/listen to your podcast at work and home. This podcast has really helped me identify my past emotional/mental traumas from the manipulative abuse I've received from my father and ex bf. I've finally come to terms that all the shame, guilt, and insecurities I've felt were from their lies and gaslighting and all of that was not my fault. Some people are just a-holes. Since watching your videos on youtube, Ive also grown to be more understanding of peoples actions and learned to look at everything in a bigger picture. Every guest you've put on each episode helped to put things into perspective (even when I didn't agree to their takes). Thank you so much! I'm at a much better place now and in a healthy and loving relationship. Many thanks ❤

1:34:50 Morgan I say this with all the caring. Age doesn’t matter when it comes to being groomed. Anyone can be groomed at any age. It has more to do with power dynamics. I was groomed and SAed by my mentor from ages 24-25 and I remember thinking that could never have happened because I was ‘too old’, until my therapist helped me understand it has way more to do with power dynamics. (And anything can be used as leverage).

The funny thing about the wedding story is when spencer had said “yeah no one goes to a wedding alone. They usually bring a date unless they’re a kid going with their parents”. Most of my adult life before getting married, I went to weddings with my parents.
It just reminded me of when I went to a family member’s wedding and my friend asked me “you didn’t bring a date? You just went by yourself?!” 😮 and I didn’t think it was so weird if I didn’t have a long term partner to go with my parents.

If a person says that their health is none of your business/concern, then they're basically saying you shouldn't care if they literally drop dead, and if that's what they're asking of their significant other, then why are they in that relationship? If you don't want someone to care about your survival then break up.

Story 5: I actually do the same for my children, I blend plenty of vegetables into their "tomato sauce". They always love it and I tell them afterwards what was in it and sometimes they even try to guess it themselves. Even though they don't like the consistency of most vegetables jet, they get used to the taste and get their vitamins and fibers and such.
Maybe the boyfriend has some kind of anxiety / aversion that is worse than some taste preference?

As someone who had a partner who got a dog (while he had a broken leg no less) that was so big I couldn’t walk him because he was untrained and would drag me down the street, would poop and pee in the house, and would escape the house at any chance and it took hours to get back. It would jump on you (friendly) but was taller than me and knock me over. He barked loudly a lot (in town) and was poorly trained. I was vocal about not wanting a dog b/c I worked like 80 hrs a week and knew my partner wouldn’t train/care for/walk the dog as needed. On top of that I have chronic RA, with tons of pain and slightly fragile bones. It hurt me so bad everytime that dog came barreling into me and jumping on me. I ended up being the one responsible for the dog I didn’t want b/c he couldn’t/wouldn’t do so. Poor dog rarely left the house for a walk. I sympathize with the wife for hav8ng to deal with all the bad parts of pet ownership for a dog she was vocal about not wanting. If he needed that dog so bad he should have trained it and took all responsibility for what it does if it does get into someth8ng and OP shouldn’t expect his wife to help with the dog.

It drives me absolutely NUTS when people's untrained deranged dogs ruin everything for us. A stupid, untrained dog attacked us when one of my dogs was 10 weeks old and I had to deal with her fear towards other dogs and show her how to make friends with friendly dogs.

I had a friend do the "gotcha" thing with my food. I am allergic to tomatoes. Usually, I "only" get an itchy throat and red and swollen lips and cheeks. But sometimes it gets really, really bad and I have had to go to the hospital before.
Anyway, my friend didn't believe me when I said I was allergic because she had seen me eat tomatoes before and not gotten a bad reaction, so she decided to put tomatoes in my food. The thing is, I could taste it, like I could tell there were tomatoes in the food, so I did not eat much. Yet, I got a reaction to the point I couldn't breathe, and my other friend had to call her dad who is a doctor. Obviously, I was fine. But I thought I was going to die. It was horrible. It was about 6 or 7 years ago, and I still feel the horror. The good thing is, I am much more careful now! I don't even feel annoying when I ask for a new burger at McDonald's because they left the tomatoes on it.
