We can break Breath of the Wild in every other way except skipping the Great Plateau
Actually the memory one that includes defeating Ganon without saving or dying does, you start right with the bow of light and the paraglider , and you can get out without runes too
We just have to move/glitch the Gannon fight to the great plateau and u won't need to escape
you can moon jump wrong warp, but its not valid in runs because it requires alot of prep
@@antonto1 They mean in a Speedrun compatible way
@@SourceOfTheRightArm if this is the future of botw speedrunning I'll be rethinking of this and i'll laugh and drink in your honor
This just in, link does so much random stuff, the universe crys and gives him what he wants
Sounds like something that would happen in Kill Six Billion Demons.
I had a lot of fun working with you on this yesterday! The pastebin document of kinak and my setup steps for 999 korok seeds is being actively developed into a full weapon corruption guide, so if anybody wants to get their own cool weapons too keep an eye out for that sometime next week :D
Sup man
@@Bread_Enthus1ast for some reason your message is being alternatively translated as “sup man” and “soup man” and I’m all for it.
@@ElDuende05 Finally google translate being useful
hell yeah!
Perhaps this new glitch will finally let us achieve Duende's Windbombing in the base game :0
I’m always amazed on how things like this are discovered
That moment when you spent hours even days getting koroks and this new glitch can get them in under 10 minutes…
Yeah but it's truly impressive if you did it legitimately. That's some serious commitment
Well, they are not legit tho. They are basically worthless then, i think its pretty dumb to use the glitch for korok seeds.
I'm gonna continue getting them all legit
@@OneekoKurubane You do you. Not everybody enjoys farming korok seeds, some just want the inventory space for more weapons and shields, so this will be a blessing
@@kuruto3556 it's just weird that people have fun with cheating this extremely. Takes away a part of the game.
@@OneekoKurubane Well yes, but its also understandable though since they are needed for inventory space, which is quite a big part of the game.
Tbf, when i first started playing i was also farming them normaly and i was okay with it, but after having to start the game completely new i just cant be bothered to do it all again.
There are just things that people either dont like or they cant be bothered with doing over and over again.
So first off holy crap
Second off, it’s happening!! Just need the right load combo to get the paraglider and GP skip can be performed. Hopefully it takes less then 10mins to do (current time it takes to do the GP)
Edit: Though I am concerned that BoTW 2 will get delayed again cause the dev’s will go ‘oh crap we need to patch this out of the new game, and that’ll take a few more months’
You think the GP skip will finally happen? Or is it just theoretical
@@sledgen. I think that it’s a use of the saving and reloading part of the vid. Your able to give yourself key items like Mipha’s grace via it, which in turn means that it’s very likely that you can give yourself a paraglider via that method. And a paraglider is all you need to beat the GP, since that’s what the game checks for. Saw it in a Pointcrow vid where he hacked the game a bit to beat BoTW in like 5mins. He turned a weapon into a paraglider with commands, gave a stick infinite damage, then teleported to the Sanctum ect. No shrines needed.
Edit: All that’s needed now is the correct combination of loads and saves to give yourself a paraglider. Or turn a Korok seed into one.
The issue is that it requires setup, which only opens it up for new game+ runs. In a normal run you still need to get the paraglider to perform the glitch. Could be wrong, though, but if there was a simple application for a plateau skip then we would already be hearing about it
@@ciarangale4738 If it dose require the setup beforehand, then yeah that invalidates the use. Though they could have it so that you are allowed to setup a glitch beforehand, but you must start the game with an empty inventory. If the saving and reloading works without the previous setup though, then it may be able to be used. I’m mainly just looking at the part before he gives himself 999 Koroks and not the weapon modification. Since there hasn’t been a new run that goes sub 24 on the leaderboards yet that dose imply either GP skip isn’t possible, it isn’t allowed, or they haven’t found the saving and loading combination to get a paraglider yet
These glitches just ruin the game. Why can’t we just play the fucking game instead of turning it into shit?
this needs much better explanation than what was said in this video.
I hope you can link the document soon because I'm genuinely interested in reading it all
It’s so simple tbh, it’s actually surprising it took this long to find out since inventory overload has been a thing for a while. Cool stuff.
Love your streams
Can you explain how to apply it to a bow?
speedrunners are so fast, they already have unlocked the fuse from Tears of the Kingdom in BOTW
I love how ocarina of time got stale reference manip and now we basically are getting stale reference manip in botw
Everyone: I am unstoppable hahahahaha
PointCrow: BEHOLD MY MIGHTY GOD STICK'S POWER!!!!
Me: yooooooooooooo no more weapons breaking for me
Instead of using that expensive recipe with the dragon scales could you just use roasted bass? It sells for an odd number as well (9 rupees) and is a lot easier to get
Today, Korok seeds. Tomorrow, ACE.
Now watch as the sequel uses the exact same inventory system and allows for many of the exact same glitches.
Next thing you know they'll figure out how to do ACE and get the triforce like in the OOT tas run
Lol this is like an EXTREME (and unintended) version of old school cheat codes "up down up down left right left right A B" but waaaaaay more complex
These glitches blow me away, how the hell are they found??! Like the point where you have to load the save and open and close the inventory 3 times, did someone just sit around after having performed all those prior actions and think "hmmmm what next, OH, what if I reload the game and just open/close my inventory" and then "huh, what if I try that twice, or 3 times" like, I imagine these glitches being found through sheer trial and error, but if that's the case, that would mean that there's people out there just sitting around on their Switch just literally attempting the most random shit on the 0.0000001% chance that _something_ happens, but the worst part is that it's NOT just finding one single action that does something weird, it's literally always a sequence of like 10 or more super random, nearly impossible to find, totally obscure actions that have to be performed in that exact order, super precisely... Like that glitch to one-shot one of the blights with a single arrow, like who the hell spent that song trying to figure out that if you aim your bow at that EXACT location, when stood on this EXACT spot, at this EXAAAAACT time to the damn FRAME, then the boss gets hit over and over by a floating glitched arrow! Those 3 variables, Link's exact location, the exact aim, at the exact time, mathematically that's nearly freaking impossible to get right unless you either get literal God tier luck, or you go through hours, and hours, and hours of grueling trial and error, never actually knowing if the glitch will amount to anything.
Please, if someone reads my whole comment and knows a thing or two about how these glitches are found, please, please explain to me the method behind this absolute madness. I refuse to believe that it's 100% experimenting with random actions combined for thousands of hours on end just in the tiniest smidge of hope that you'll actually find a glitch, and not just any glitch, but a worthwhile glitch like item duplication or one-shotting a boss or whatever other insane glitch these people have discovered requiring this amount random actions with this level of precision to realise
We are ever closer to remote code execution in BotW I swear.
Can you remake this video without the editing just uncut as a short or something idk
This is too complicated, I'll just search for the koroks the traditional way.
I agree, by the time I watch and do this multiple times to get it to work, I can just find them and play the game 🤓
Oh man, I don't know why but I really want that OP pot lid. What else would be silly if it was insanely strong, the broom?
there's 122 damage stick with critical hit
Looks like kleric is going to upload soon.
So I am a bit confused because the game auto save when I went out the Great Plateau and didn't auto save when I got the axe
When you have to have a degree in quantum mechanics and astrophysics to save 0.00753 seconds on the world record
bro that's less than 1/2 a frame what
Tried to do this glitch countless times and its only brought over 1 seed and replaced 3 of my weapons with axes
dude, where is the notes for the insane damage weapons?
*sees new glitch* Wow, I wanna try this!
*sees how absurd it is* Well... at least I want to boot up Breath of the Wild again!
And here was I, happy to trade infinite Shields dor shiny rocks after overloading the memory
Looks simple sounds complicated
Can you please do a playthrough where you're only using a glitched bow with 10 shot please
I actually got the bow of light with this glitch
Didn't take as long as I thought it would
4:35 did you mean 3 more times?
I keep getting the first save file right after link runs up the hill
I am actually amazed that they managed to code a game that is actually that stable. Yes it has obviously a ton of bugs and glitches, but most games would simply crash if you'd try to do something like this.
Shout out the pre patch bdsp it would crash just by opening the game sometimes
BOTW is great because 99% of the bugs are way too complex to stumble on by accident. You can easily play normally and not experience them, while glitchers and speedrunners have an endless sea of fun glitches to mess with. It's a win for everyone.
@@taker601 That's because the Blood Moon system is very ingenious. It erases the cache so the game doesn't overload too much and crashes while also returning the monsters making them avaliable again removing and respawning their weapons. However, you can still see very interesting things in the game during rain and shock arrow animations, especially with x5 Savage Lynel Bows.
Honestly, this specific glitch that he's explaining in this video reminds me of the first two Pokémon generations, where random data could just get written into places where it really shouldn't be. That's not really more stable, that's just a different kind of unstable XD
@@KanashimiMusic Yeah the glitches capabilities are definitely unstable. But the game itself is very stable cuz you won't stumble on it while playing normally
Imagine 10 years later, someone discovers how to skip great plateau, nope, 10000x arrows

I'm 61, Have played Zelda games since they come out. You guys are amazing with all these glitches. I love watching all of the speed runners play. Amazes me how they even think up these glitches, especially since some are so complex. Waiting with bated breath for the next Zelda.
A true legend right here 💪❤️🙌
35, I was terrible at the NES games, but SNES and OG Gameboy are where I found my love for Zelda games. Watching these kids speed through them is so entertaining for me. I find myself laughing out loud when they pull another rabbit out of the hat.
Ohh man, here I am with 32 and my journey started with Ocarina of Time and I'm super excited about BoTW2 just seeing how much BoTW still surprises me after five years.

@@potatogod8831 nawwww
Hooray for data redundancy errors! It's kinda wild this glitch took so long to find, given that we've known about the inventory overload glitch for a couple years now, and have used it extensively for duping and equipment manipulation before. But it also makes sense, cause it took finding better and faster methods for overloading the menu to get that overloaded state in more places to find that we can sell held items and desync the inventory item count, and then finding those specific setups that let us reliably write item info out of bounds to wreak absolute havoc on this game. I'm excited to see how much further this kind of glitch goes, cause it's dangerously close to breaking this game completely open.
We wouldn’t have found as much as we have without leoetlino’s decompilation project. Its pretty crazy.
You would think game devs would implement transaction systems for inventories by now.
@@LagMasterSam why? sounds like a ton of extra dev effort for essentially 0 positive impact on the average player experience.
I'm honestly confused about why they thought to implement a copy of your inventory in the first place. Especially if it's only used for the few times where you're locked out of your inventory, it seems like it'd be way easier to have a second empty inventory that you swap to when you enter one of these areas, then just swap you back when you leave.
But I guess the average player would never run into a glitch that desyncs your inventories anyway so it doesn't really matter. Good thing they did it like this then so we have this cool glitch lol!
I was doing it the day the game comed out noobs
Okay, we NEED a devs reaction to modern BotW glitches and speedruns. I’m not sure whether they’d laugh or cry, but I NEED to see their reaction to this insanity.
Unfortunately, it's Nintendo, and their stance on glitches and such are well known...
@@ledlebrgr5380 yes but BotW was developed by the new generation
The devs might be like "oh, somebody finally found that glitch. It's a pretty fun glitch, huh?"
@@jennasloan396 I think they were like that shortly after launch, when people were messing with Stasis launches and bullet time.
@@ledlebrgr5380 It really depends with Nintendo. I know most of the glitches in OOT3D are because they literally just copy and pasted the source code, but they DID go out of their way to reference them. Nintendo was like "oh uh. we let grezzo put these in as a ~feature~ because players love these glitches". A fancy way to say "we did something lazy with the port" lmao
i love in your final clip how the game is like "hit an enemy's head with an arrow for 2X critical damage!" as you unleash apocalyptic hellfire upon the blight beast
I continue to be amazed at this game. How much you can break the game open if you hunt for it, but how stable and well put together it is, that you'll almost never encounter these glitches in any sort of normal play.
Exactly, it's a win for everyone! Normal players can enjoy a smooth glitch-free game, while glitchers and speedrunners have an endless sea of fun glitches to try.
If i had a quarter for every game breaking glitch in BOTW, I could buy another copy of it.
A minor part of this glitch is allowing you to start the game with all the divine beast + abilitys
Well that's not new memory storage was already around
This game, after more than five years, keeps surprising me. Another broken glitch has just been discovered and the possibilities are just massive. The sub 20 or maybe even sub 19 hours 100% speedrun is definitely possible.

We fear no man
But this thing
Pointing at the glitch
It scares us
as soon as i saw that first 10x Arrow shot, i literally said out loud, "...oh no..." lol
it was one thing when this game first launched-- the glitches and tricks that were found were SUPER difficult (like BTBs and BILs; hell, even the Magnesis 'Flying Machine' never "stuck together" long enough for me to properly Use it anywhere)...but then even MORE glitches n tricks were found, like BLSS (one of the few tricks that even _I_ can pull off consistently)...now theres a way to Max-Stat whatever you want?? i thought OoT was badly broken-- it almost sounds like ALL Zelda games are held together with spit and string...
(still my favorite game series, but "look what theyve done, how theyve massacred my boy" or however that line goes)
I was recently reading an article on how the VVVVVV source code was published by the dev, and they were talking about how all games are basically like this. When you're on a deadline you kind of have to just do things however you can think of to do them (without ruining the user experience) and not spend a lot of time thinking about what THE most optimal, stable, fool-proof method would be and probably rewriting half your game to implement it. If the game works, has the features you want, and playing it normally doesn't result in constant glitches, you ship it.
@@Nat_the_Chicken true, but i still feel like the "easier" glitches were found Way Later...like, youd think something as easy as BLSS wouldve been found on Launch Day, not some-3 or 4 years afterward...
@@rtyuik7 Oh yeah, the order in which glitches get found is always super arbitrary and dependent on what people happen to notice when and what they decide to put more time into investigating. I was mostly responding to your "spit and string" remark.
@@Nat_the_Chicken and Nintendo games are pretty optimized compared to the vast majority of devs out there. Think about that.
@@rtyuik7 I mean, think about the path to discover BLSS compared to a BTB, for example. Finding BTBs requires "hmm, bullet time messes with physics. If we experiment a bunch, AHAH! big bounce". For BLSS, they had to find a bunch of random glitches that werent useful, figure out that if you combine them you get an interesting result, then find a convenient way of doing them that is actually feasible.
Ganon: "You cannot beat me
Linkus: (pulls out 10 arrow plus 105 attack bow)
*With kaboom arrows
The 999 korok seeds is giving me big "mew under the truck" vibes
Yahaha
Will the time spent setting up the new autosaves count towards RTA? I guess it has to, since they'll get erased during the first portion of the run?
Currently WMC isn’t viable for speed runs, but IST is. It doesn’t require setting up new files and can be used to rapidly create and duplicate arrows, orbs, and seeds early in a hundo run. Expect to see this being implemented soon if it isn’t already.
so if you bug to 999 karok seeds, what happens to the other seeds that you have yet to collect? what happens if you try to go pick it up?
The Korok will finish their dialogue and you'll "acquire" the seed but it will stay at 999. Source: tried this with an earlier korok duplication method.
Also, the game's completion percentage will increase for every korok seed for the first 900 seeds. That's an instant ~70% after this glitch.
I can’t keep the auto save for the axe. It gets overridden by the korok
This makes me want to see a 'casual' run of Master Mode where someone destroys literally every creature they come across with overpowered weapons.
*Sneezes*
Baddos: *Gone. Reduced to atoms.
This is the craziest exploit I've seen in ages. This is on the level of those setups in gen 1 Pokemon where you can like trigger a fight with Mew by doing a bunch of random stuff in the right order, like the sort of nonsense secret you'd get from a sketchy GameFAQs forum or some kid on the playground at recess.
exactly the same vibe as those old "how to catch arceus" vids for heartgold, involving doing a bunch of random crap and then you encounter it on route 1. "now, it will be level 100 so we need some higher level pokemon to catch it, like level 30"
this is insane. its like as if im back in my childhood days and a friend tells me specific sequence of things to do in order to unlock made up secret character or cheat code. but its real. wtf
Maybe the Mew under the truck is obtainable after all
Botw, my favorite game that has no game breaking glitches... Said no one ever
As The Spiffing Brit would say, it's perfectly balanced.
I wonder how similar is this to Stale Reference Manipulation in the N64 Zelda games. Ofc the execution of both this and SRM are different, and the code is defnitely drastically different between the N64 and Switch, but there are some interesting similaries just from a surface level look.
I love how crazy breath of the wild glitches keep on getting. Its like the final boss of game glitches. Linkus you always do a fantastic job of explaining them to us as well as keeping us up to date, thank you!
I only realized now how broken BotW actually is- it’s crazy
imo botw is the best kind of broken its very broken when you want to abuse glitches but you will almost never run into glitches if you just play normally
@@youtubeyoutube943 Exactly, the glitches are so ridiculously complicated and weird that nobody will stumble on them by accident. But if you follow tutorials and TRY to do glitches, there are so many fun ones to try, it's the best of both worlds.
Lol BOTW's cooking system is so in depth you can cook new weapons 🤔
I keep trying to do the korok one, but the autosaves never work out where you got them, the wood cutters axe save always gets replaced by the korok save, I always have a shrine of resurrection save, and sometimes a save right outside of the shrine but not wood cutters axe save... AHHHHHHH... anyway, hopefully I can figure this out, it'd be fun to get this right!
Have the same problem
Hot damn. I don't really understand how the glitch works, but the weapon modifier glitch really reminds me of pokemon gen 1 glitches where you can make the game use unintended or arbitrary values, like mew glitch or missingno
This is basically inventory editing, I love it! I play the game in Cemu, which has some really cool assembly debugging features. Can't wait to dive into the technical aspects of this exploit!
Great vid, as always!
I'm already lost. At 3:53 you have created a new game, picked up an axe, autosave, found a korok, autosave, and then you simply say "now we're going to do the glitch setup I just showed" but suddenly you're no longer in the new save file, you're back to the other save file from the start of the video... If you create a new save file, don't manual save, and then load up a save from your previous file, doesn't that kill the new game file you created? I'm confused...
On one hand, I'm always excited for new glitches. But on the other hand, I think NOT finding this glitch for another years or so would've probably mean, that we would get the same (or at least very similar) glitch in botw2.
The great part is that theres a medium chance that getting rid of these glitches will create more.
Of course, its possible nintendo will do such a good job of patching glitches that there wont really be many big ones in botw2, but thats what i thought about botw for the first couple of years
The thing is, the way we got this glitch to work is because of an integral part of the item system. They would need to COMPLETELY change both how items worked and how the inventory worked to fix this.
@@meatballman_botw You're right, I'm not familiar with the technical details. But from what I saw in this video, preventing different save files to alter the inventory should work. But please correct, if I'm wrong about that
@@PanCave That would fix it, but if it were coded like that, there'd be WAY more ways to exploit the inventory. you're still right though.
lol
What are the consequences of doing the korok seed glitch? Will it ruin my game? And will all the koroks be found or will i still have to find them all?
with highly technical stuff like this, i always wonder: just how the hell did anyone find this?!
i mean, the save and load of the savefiles part alone is too specific and nonsensical for anyone to just stumble upon and getting that fooditem in addition makes it even more improbable.
...i guess they made a little program to read the storage values in realtime and reverse engineered the method. still just as impressive.
i know why i stopped learning programming. stuff gets too complicated, and fast.
A person was messing around with meals in IST and then suddenly their spear had critical hit. It's as simple as that. /s
Ok, this is now reaching ACE levels of glitchiness
I wish man, i thought so too :(
The zoom thing on the bow is cool but the burst firing with multishot is absolutely busted, I can see why that didn't get used lmao
Does anyone have a link to the document for all of the recipes and what modifier they give?
Linkus said he would put it in but I can’t find it, maybe I’m just dumb
Now we just need a new glitch that saves Marin from being trapped as a seagull forever !
i need help i cant do the korok one cause i cant get a auto save when i pick up the axe and i have been doing this for almost an hour
The real question is:
Is it possible to do either of these glitches in Master Mode?
Well it’s basically the same game just with slight difficulty changes and enemy placement
Yes
no you need 3 autosaves and only have 1
If you mean get 999 korok seeds on a master mode file, yes that's absolutely possible. mCount offset can be performed on master mode just as well, and the result persists even if you go to the title screen and switch modes. so your original save file can be a master mode file and then you just switch to normal mode to do the autosave setup. Of course you can do that second part ONLY on normal mode, because well, three (auto)saves is more than two.
...I guess autosave 1 could be a manual save, and autosave 2 could just be overridden by autosave 3 bc it's never used afterwards... so technically performing the second part in master mode might be possible. But this is kinda useless speculation bc it means you WOULD have to delete an existing master mode file, so your base save has to be normal mode, and anyway you could just use normal mode autosaves instead.
Like this is cool and everything but HOW DID THEY DISCOVER IT
could this have effects on the master sword or the bow of light, and if not I understand why. But this also means that there is a new highest damage output in the game. That is pretty big.
you can get modifiers on both its super broken
@@fantefood1938 Sweet
Why wouldn't i? they're just weapons with the unbreakable flag on.
@@meatballman_botw I guess that is right, I don't know I just thought to question. I play a lot of BOTW but sometimes thigs like that happen in other games.
Same issue as the few 100 before me, Auto save 2 happens immediately outside SoR, which prompts Autosave 3 to only overwrite itself.. the only way to get the axe to have its own autosave, is to go back to the SoR auto, pick up the axe, and then sit and wait for the "Follow the Shiekah Slate" quest prompt.. but then i dont not that it would work, because it would act as 2 seperate "new start" auto saves, would it not.. i guess im curious enough to try now.. see what it does
The pot lid doesn’t have one durability it has one parry power/guard up
has the glitch been patched? I wish you would just explain how to do the glitch, you go through it but then you skip a bunch of steps and then your document doesn’t explain. What do you mean by break the menu?
this
I'm hyped for a new All Koroks no source requirement route, maybe also Map 100% NSR since the longest part of that seems to have been completely broken apart
While LOZ devs are working on Tears of the Kingdom we’re over here breaking the entire game. This is what I love about BOTW..
I feel like the glitches that are found now will delay botw2
how would they even remotely delay botw2? nintendo updates games for a little while but after some point they just don't care anymore.
Nintendo has no reason to patch these glitches. You will not find them casually and they can’t be used competitively
Nintendo isn't patching glitches anymore for this game
Hah they stopped patching it like 3 years ago
@@I_am_here_to_eat_your_toes they mean that BotW2 is built off of BotW1, so since people are finding glitches in 1 they need to delay 2 to fix whatever bugs are the cause as the base code is identical so it would exist in 2 by default
Can someone explain the Korok seed glitch to me in a way that a toddler can understand it? I feel stupid every time I fail it.
This sounds an awful lot like Breath of the Wild is close to finding ACE.
I WISH dude. It's so close, but all we've been able to do is overwrite a pair of integers from 1 item to another, so this can't be it.
Thank you a lot for showing this Glitch! But im finding it hard to follow, as you sometimes explain show something and then cut back to the Glitch... Would love a showcase, where you just do the Glitch (and explain what your doing) and nothing next to it... I dont know whta is accutally part of the Glitch and what is not...
Can I just like... glitch my favorite weapons to have 999 durability or something? This video is really hard to follow...
How do you even FIND these glitches?
Like, seriously? For what Unfathomable reason would you ever need to do these specific things to even stumble upon these bugs?
Absolutely insane. It's a work of art!
It won’t autosave after I get the ace for some reason
you forgot to mention that the stars need to be aligned and mcdonalds needs a working ice cream machine for this glitch to work

Oh I thought this was the cool tech where they updated the game and saved an hour on load times in 100%
Hey hey hey, easy on the Pot lid slander.
Fuck. Next is definitely gonna be srm, we're so fucking close to srm
The way to do this glitch sounds like the playground gossip about secret n64 levels from when I was a kid. "First you load your save and unequip your axe 3 times, then you run around and wait for a new autosave"...
Lol yeah a lot of this game's glitches sound like that, they only make sense if you really REALLY look into them
when i hold it doesnt work?
Does any one know why an auto save will just delete another one because I get the axe then the korok then it just get rid of the auto save with the axe
The 999 korok seed didn’t work for me and I did all the things I don’t understand why
If i make a new game does it just make a new save or does it erase all of my progress?
