Thank you so much for watching! Until next time!
A man at a thrift store told me a trick! Carry a can of bug spray with you and spray the piece down good before putting in your vehicle so you don't carry the live critters in your vehicle and take home with you!
That is a great!
Great tip!!!!
Good advice!!! I just CANNOT handle spiders!!! And I live in Oklahoma, I kid you not, some adult wolf spiders that have made it to my patio, the size if a saucer, with body and legs!! I think I’ve had a few heart attacks this summer, they have been so bad!! So I’m going to remember this trick!!
Great idea! Thanks
Yes even windex some non flammable type to melt those little exoskeletons . Sorry silverfish 😁
Most of the time I really enjoy seeing painted pieces. This one broke my heart it’s such a gorgeous piece says it was.
Love it. I think people don't realize how much work goes into prepping something. In anything you do the preparation is the key. Great Job.
Thank you,I am 60 and my grandmother had one exactly like that and when she died alot went on,you did a beautiful job,
This piece is amazing, I would love that in my home, you are extremely creative and inspiring 🙂
Thank you!
So glad you rescued her before she got rained on!!! You did an INCREDIBLE job! Such patience you had with this piece. This proves how the prep work certainly paid off in the end....I would not change a thing about your choices!!! AWESOME WORK!!!
Instead of removing the trim below the left door, I would have made a mold of it to create a trim for the missing piece on the right. Beautiful furniture rehab!
My mom had one just like that. I wish I could find one like it, just beautiful!
While you were painting, I was thinking I wasn't crazy about the color. But seeing it finished...WOW! I think all of your choices were the right ones.
Beautiful! I first thought stain the legs but when I saw how the distressing brought out the details... you nailed sister!!!
Thank you! 😊
Like the idea of a stool. I always mess up my knees and lower back painting
I was loving that stool also. Love the height and the ability to roll around where you need to go. What a time saver.
Yes! I found that on Amazon. I love it.
That turned out beautiful. The time you put in prep work shows in the finished product. Very nice.
Thank you very much!
I found myself hollering at my phone “Please don’t paint it! The wood is beautiful!” But at the end I thought the final result was stunning. Good call on your part!
I actually agreed with you. Please don’t paint the beautiful wood. But I can see why the wood was problematic.
I loved original wood. I would have left it alone with rougher areas as the piece's Battlescars for survival. You do good work though.
@@annmarieknapp2480 i agree, paint is a bandaid; someone gonna have to rip it off, eventually- and they will be cursing you the whole time.
It looks amazing. The amount of prep work done inspired me. I’m now a new subscriber and glad I found your channel. I like the pace of your video. Beautiful finish.
Very stunning
This one came out much better then is was an original. Good job!
I would never have had tge guts to paint thus old piec BUTi will now. I have a buffet this same size that us my new project! THANKS FOR YOUR WORK!
Wonderful job of taking something old and making it new. Wishes of much success to you.
Beautiful. I think it’s perfect. Awesome that you rescued it.
Thank you! 😊
Just gorgeous.
This is really beautiful with using pretty easily access able and not so expensive products.
It was nice to see the all-together prepping of this antique server. It was so complete. I have never seen this intense prepping. Good job!
Beautiful job! I have a very similar piece that I have been struggling with for weeks. My piece had 2+ coats of white paint that I have been stripping but a lot of the stripper got dried and clumped around the carvings, so I have struggled with using pointed tools to remove it. Originally I did strip the carves legs hoping to stain them and also the top like you did. But after seeing your piece, I may decide to paint them the same as the body of the piece (sage green) I need to decide and just wrap this one up!
Now that’s talent rite there. Beautiful piece. I live the distressed color you chose.
Thank you!
@@SabsRehabs I’m really trying to get better and refinishing furniture and I find a lot of helpful tips in your videos.
Very nice !
Beautiful, like the painted legs. The prep work shows just how much goes into a revamped piece.
Spectacular! You are a true artist!
STUNNING!♥️
I was of the same mindset as David Carroll, who wrote he was hollering at his phone not to paint it! The wood is beautiful, and it was. I would have loved to have seen you bring it back to the beautiful wood finish. The painted faux aged look is nice although I would have gone for a dark charcoal finish with a slight sheen to it, but your finish was nice. I really enjoy watching your videos.
I have a question for you about refinishing/repairing scratched end tabletops. I recently moved and the movers scratched up two beautiful hand craved end tables. The tops of the end-tables have inlayed wood design, the scratching looks like it's more of a surface damage. I can't find anyone who knows anything about repairing, so after seeing you I thought I might try doing the repair myself and I'll admit I'm terrified. I bought these end tables over 50yrs ago and at that time they cost $425/ea (I'm only saying their cost so you have an idea of the quality of them.) Can you give me guidance on what to do?
I think that showing all the prep work is a very good idea--when items are not cleaned, filled, repaired and sanded well, they don't end up looking as beautiful as this did. Love the color, I would also have painted the legs. Your taste and way of doing things reminds me of me! I have just purchased some Behr in dark blue to paint my desk (the new puppy chewed on it a bit) so really glad to find you like that brand of paint. Glad I found you!
So much work!
Gorgeous beyond belief! I love the custom color. Staining the top and painting the rest was a stroke of genius.
Beautiful job!! I truly appreciate how you saved this piece and made it a work of art. # New life!
Thank you so much!
So happy to see this old beauty have a new life💙 BEAUTIFUL JOB💙
Beautiful!!
Great job!! I love your voice almost as much as your furniture pieces!!🥰
Thank you!! 😊
I'm all for landfill rescue. It -does- preserve antiquities, and if someone wants to strip & restore the wood later? I -do- agree this is painted carefully & aesthetically.
I’m here for it all honey. I love watching these types of videos bcuz I have did a few pieces here and there but never to sell. I want to make a lil business soon doing this. And restoring antiques. Thanks for sharing. Will be here from beginning to end 🙏🏽💕✅
Awesome! You got this!
@@SabsRehabs yes indeed ! Thank you for the words of encouragement. Have a blessed one darling 🙏🏽👌🏾✅💖
that came out beautiful!
Love the colour, I love everything you did ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much!
Fabulous! 😍
You rock girl!! love it!
Stunning ❤️❤️❤️ I love the painted legs.
WOW!!!! This is absolutely beautiful. STUNNING!!!
Stunning ❤
💙💙💙
Perfect..
Stunning! ❤
Thank you! 😊
Amazing work! I love it! And on a side note, you have a beautiful voice. I don’t know which I enjoy more, watching your videos or listening to them. Lol
Great job
Looks great!
Thank you! ❤️
Gracias por compartir!! Realmente hermoso🤗🇺🇾
The think the shadowing would have been so beautiful .. add cream & shadow in.
Absolutely beautiful. I love it. All your hard work paid off for sure!
It came out beautiful and congrats on your quick sale. When you get a new piece, there are so many ways you can go with it. Love the shapes and carvings on this one. I was hoping that the wood grain on the front drawers and cabinet panels along with the top would’ve been kept for contrast. I would’ve stained them a matching gray but very lightly like a color wash, so the color would match but the grain would stand out in those spots with the rest painted. I might have let the legs match the top.
So true! So many different ways each piece could go. Yours sound like it would be a beautiful piece!
Looks great! I cringed when you painted the legs but when it was finished I was like "hmmm it looks awesome painted"
please consider doing a painting technique tutorial :-) you are fast and at the same time precise… would like to know how to get there!
Nice job. Doing a old Jacobean at the moment
Nice!
No, no! The wood is too beautiful! Find an another piece for painting! Only in USA is painting such a beauty!
WRONG! Painting furniture originated in Europe actually in the 17th century. So move along Nora.
@@SabsRehabs the begining, maybe, but now all american girls paint! And you dont accept critics! You are young and too much pride! Europe has much more culture than you!
I'm a new subscriber and i just want to say i love your pieces and the video style x
I love this, but I think I would have painted the top too!
THAT IS GORGEOUS!!!! ...DO YOU HAVE TO SAND FIRST , TO USE THE CHALK PAINT? EVEN WITH WAX BUILD UP AND POLYURETHANE?
I always recommend at least a scuff sand before painting.
You do beautiful work !
We have an antique side boy. Its all walnut. My Great Grandfather went to St. Louis, Mo to bring it home and do other household shopping. My great grandfather was the first boy baby born in what is now Denver, Colorado. His name was William Denver McGraw. Home to him was on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. The furniture piece has been in our home for over 30 years now.t I am so attached to this old piece of family history, I would be very upset if anyone devieated from its present condition and we have antiques things before. It was your decision and it looks fine, just not my cup of tea.
That shellac also seals in orders.
It does look phenomenal. Love everything about this video, the way how you explain and tell about products you use, great job. New fan ))
Thank you so much! 💓
Love the piece but I would have either stained or paint washed the burled wood on the doors.
New sub. Amazing piece. Nice work!
Girl, if I see a spider, no flip just tissue, match and gone😊
I don’t like the distressed look however I liked this. Infact I didn’t just like it I loved it.
Thank you! ❤
Hecking out some.of your older guys. Where did you get that bucket?
Amazon!
Do you know who made this design of this furniture my family has this set in our family and was wondering how much is was worth
There was no back to it so no maker mark.
Thanks so much!!
I bet that goopy stuff was Sambuca! It smells like black liquorice. It was probably someone's liquor cabinet.
We spell it Kerb.
Oh interesting! What area are you from?
Your voice is so adorable. You should be a voiceover actor! Oh and the work is wonderful!
Oh my gosh! Thank you! ❤
OMG!!! What a gorgeous piece this turned out to be.. I know once upon a time she was the shining star in someone’s home and was loved… the embellishments were so pretty only somewhere along the line she was not loved and cared for😢I think you did a phenomenal job on restoring her to the beauty she once was and now she is loved again❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I’m so glad I came across this video while scrolling through UA-cam.. you now have a new subbie😊😊😊
Thank you for the kind words! I was happy to know it sold to a lady with a wedding venue so it will be in many wedding photos for years to come.
@@SabsRehabs That's perfect!
Beautiful!!
Thank you! 😊
You kept apologizing for the prep time but it showed what is really like to paint a piece. It justifies the price when people see the real labor involved. A stunning piece and I agree with everything you did to it. 👏🏼
Thank you so very much!
No kidding! Prep will make or break the project. I’m really glad I watched so many videos to know how important prep is.
I totally agree with you- it’s good to see what it really takes to prep a piece before paint - so many furniture painters make the prep part seem so easy but I feel it’s the hardest part sometimes- especially when you need to do repairs- I appreciate this video so much for the reality of it.
Next time just make a mold of that trim! Love this piece! You got a new follow today from southern charm refinishings newchannel.
Lady you got skills. Just perfect results.
Thank you! You are making me blush 😊
Wow love the color
Beautiful job
I love the piece & it's beautiful curves! Personally, I would have kept the natural wood color & not paint it. Just my opinion...☺️
In a million years I wouldn't have put a drop of paint on that cabinet, anywhere. Honey maple stain for me, or golden pecan, or something similar. But, that's me. If distressed blue is what floats your boat, then you nailed it. Good job on the video, it was fun to watch....and very nice work!
Ps, stenciling was a nice touch
No kidding! Just a few minutes in, when she said “before we paint this” my heart broke.
I don’t think there’s really much more she could do with it. It was in pretty bad shape
100%
Needed to be painted!
Flipping is different than restoring. Restoring requires a much different talent. I too expected to see the gorgeous wood restored and my heart dropped when she said "paint"!!
That turned out so beautiful! What a tremendous amount of work! You earned every bit of that money!
Thank you! ❤
I was raised a Puritan when it comes to wood grain. My parents and I spent hours stripping off old varnish and paint from wood.
However what you did with this piece is lovely. Congratulations on the profit.
I am glad you painted the legs. It pulled everything together to make the look cohesive. Hopefully the $600 profit covers your master fly swatter extermination fees! 🪰🕷
Haha. My skin is still crawling from that one. 🤣
What a gorgeous makeover. I have an old sideboard that was my mom’s, that I am planning on refinishing. My mom had gorgeous antique furniture, and I inherited it. I am tired of looking at the varnished wood…I am ready for some paint. I love that blue color. It is so bold, but the perfect choice.
Such a beautiful peace of furniture I can’t believe someone just left it on the side of the road. Luckily for you that you where able to get it and give it a beautiful transformation.
Loved it! You can't go wrong painting the legs or leaving them bare, its beautiful anyway! ❤️
Thank you!
Absolutely stunning!
you are one generous lady Kacha.

I'm SO glad this showed up in my feed. I was given a buffet table VERY VERY similar to this. This is my first piece and it's truly a labor of love like you mentioned. But your video has helped me so much about what to do. I've done all the prep work but I've been dragging my feet about everything else. Now I have confidence to finish it! Thank you!
Oh yay! Glad my video helped you. ❤️
I love everything you did to this piece. The color, the painted legs, and the beautiful stencil surprise when the drawers are opened are my favorites. You have a very pleasant voice and I enjoyed watching you transform this tired old lady into a beauty again.
Thank you for the kind words. ❤❤❤
I appreciate the sustainable idea so much of salvaging old discarded furniture made of solid wood instead of buying new cheap Ikea furniture.
I'm not exactly a fan of painted furniture, but because of the condition of this sideboard and the dated granny style, the decision is particularly convincing especially because of the classic color choice. The result is very beautiful. The furniture shines in new splendor and provides plenty of storage space, for example for crockery.
Oh, how lovely. It's so refreshing to see someone go the extra mile in the prep work. So glad to see the gold highlights all over, too. Too many people slap a coat of paint on and call it done, totally ignoring any possible detailing that could enhance. Beautiful job.
Glad you enjoyed it!
You prep the way I was taught. Good for you.
I usually don't like to see vintage pieces painted, but this was in rough shape and paint just disguised it all and made it lovely! Good job.
Facing a dilema ...picked up a well made dresser and matching chest ..wood in a rich cherry finish , can't find any manufactuer markings but drawers are dove tailed ...hardware is gorgeous ....do I refinish or paint ?
Thank you!
@@jayrankowitz3829 what kind of repair work needs to be done, and are those repairs within your area of expertise! That will make all the difference. If you don’t feel up to those repairs, paint is the answer! It’s only paint, and can be removed should you learn the repairs! I once had a Martha Washington sewing cabinet that bragged about solid mahogany on the tag! I was so excited until I stripped it and every board was a different color of mahogany and in no order that would make it appealing. I finally managed to stain the top so that it wasn’t too mismatched but had to give up and paint the body! Still love it!
I don’t know if I would have the patience for that piece, but you nailed it, girl! That is absolutely beautiful!!
Thank you!
I'm usually not a fan of chalk paint or distressed furniture but this turned out beautifully! I would have this in my home and be proud to show it off. Great job!
Thank you!
You did some nice things that other furniture artist don’t. I like the fact you waxed the bottom of the drawers & the inside of the frame. You also used regular “ole” Johnson’s Paste Wax! I have a can I need to use on my old furniture & I didn’t quite know how to use it until now! Thank you! Beautiful piece & Congratulations on the quick, profitable sale!’
Thank you!
I like how you choose to paint the legs It’s a Beautiful piece!
You could off made a mold of the trim
I love to see people saving these gorgeous old pieces!! You don't find wood like that anymore for sure.
I too appreciate the effort and skill you put into this piece. However, I dislike the distressed look and caulk painted furniture. To me, the original piece after you cleaned it warranted a complete restore to its original condition. A few veneer repairs and a new trim made to match the existing are very much possible without too much expense. The Original tiger striped finish was gorgeous. I liked the video nevertheless.
muy lindo, pero hubiera sido mas lindo dejar la madera con sus vetas originales.....el mueble era muy bello ....
I was almost crying when she painted it.
😢
🤣
I didn't like the violet colour, l prefer wooden colour.
It is more navy in person, not violet
Beautiful finish and perfect hardware. I wish you could have saved part of the finish on doors and maybe the legs. The center shield on the doors was beautiful wood.
