      Hi Susan, I just read all your comments. It will definitely be a fun build. I don’t have an exactly materials list but watching the videos will give you an idea of how I did everything. If you have specific questions just ask. As far as advice, make sure you have the weight distributed good so you’re not light on the tongue. Also, my Raptor Liner finish is somewhat of a test. I only found one other guy (channel is Seeking Adventure) that finished like this so more to come on how well it holds up. Other than that, have fun with it and make it exactly how you want it! Thanks for watching my series.

    I’ve seen a ton of videos of the raptor liner not flexing with the ebb and flow of the wood. Hoping the paint layers eliminate those issues. The camper is looking great!

      So far so good. I think the real test is being stored outdoors for a Michigan winter. We’ll see.

    I watched a guy build a trailer like this one and he used fiberglass resin with some type of carbon fiber sheets to cover the sides with.

    Those look like 5 x 10 sheets of plywood! Were are those available? Might try that design on a 6 x 14 bed.

      Yes, 5’x10’ sheets were available at Menards by special order. Made for a seamless construction for walls, roof and floor.

    Don't forget to wrap in something for water protection

    • @LivingOurAmericanDream

      Lots of folks mention that on their UA-cam videos of making these campers. I didn’t and still don’t understand it. There’s no shower in there and no food or anything like that. Seems like if water is getting in there is another issue like an exterior sealing problem. Thanks for your input and watching. We’ll see how it goes.

    please explain how are you getting a six ft.x8 ft piece of plywood where is the seam ??

    • @LivingOurAmericanDream
      @LivingOurAmericanDream  2 місяці тому

      Great question. I ordered 5’x10’ sheets of 3/4” plywoods from Menards. No seams anywhere on the exterior except for the joints.

    I’ve gone back and watched this series a few times. I’m doing a smaller version (4x6) for gear and a cassette toilet closet. I was wondering if you had any footage of how you planned/placed/installed the 4x6 skids. Thanks.
    Went back to video 1 and noticed the heading “skids” but it was just a brief shot of your son cutting the bevel on a skid, but then it got edited out.

    • @LivingOurAmericanDream
      @LivingOurAmericanDream  Рік тому

      Hi Jesse…no real science, I just cut an angle in the front so the skids do not catch while sliding on. For attachment I used construction adhesive, put them where I wanted them, and used lag bolts from the inside floor down into the skids. By build has 1x boards throughout for stiffness and the lags go through the 1x, through the plywood, and into the 4x6. As you can see, I placed them a bit offset from the very outer edge of the camper box. This is so I had enough room to install guides on my trailer. Hope this helps.

      @@LivingOurAmericanDream Awesome. Those details do help with what I was thinking. Hate to be a nuisance, but what did you use for guides?

    • @LivingOurAmericanDream
      @LivingOurAmericanDream  Рік тому

      I screwed two boards to the deck of my trailer just wider than the skids. The guides allow me to winch the pod onto the trailer without worrying about it getting crooked and scuffing up the pod finish.

    On the back piece, why did you use pocket holes instead of screwing through from above?

    • @LivingOurAmericanDream

      Was on a roll with the pocket jig I guess. Makes a connection with no exposed fasteners on the exterior.
