Someone may have already said this , but, realise Rick being in the garage constantly is an old motif, not a new one. Sure he is inventing futuristic gadgets, but at its core its no different than the man who is constantly working on the car in his garage. He has a passion, which is good, but he often uses that passion to be both close and distant from a family he doesn't know how to be close to. He acts like he doesn't care, but he could have chosen a laboratory somewhere else other than in their garage, close to them. I know he is waiting for another Rick to show up, but though that may be the reason he initially showed up, it may not be the reason he stuck around. Rick is a smart man, the smartest man in the universe (or multiverse). But he is still a man wrestling with his humanity.

I'm with you, and while the fight is hard, it's possible, somehow, I know it is.
Running from people who want to help us because we're afraid of hurting, failing or otherwise disappointing them. We're never good enough, or we weren't meant for this world. We're either too kind, too naive or too easy going.
The fact your this self-aware of this shows me that you WILL be getting through this. Don't undercut yourself or sell yourself short, you already have your foot wedged in the door you've just gotta have the integrity to push it open, stay true to yourself.
(I have PTSD and abandonment issues and self worth has been my biggest issues so far. But recently after being used and manipulated emotionally by people who I genuinely believed to have loved me- which was the last straw as ive given these individuals many chances even after the constant toxicity. (Along with MANY using me for my kindness and forgiveness.) I realized wasn't happy chasing others attention and affection, and for once I started to give a shit about how I felt after feeling so bad for so long. I don't know if this'll help but know it will get better. You'll see! That selfwareness is gonna take you far.
