You can hear more musical ideas in a single Mr. Bungle song than some bands have in their whole discographies.
Sometimes in a 20 second span they will incorporate three or four genres
yeah try to listen to some helmet or acdc not falling asleep every two seconds after hearing them
Never seen a vocalist more willing to take chances and be unique than Mike Patton. Fearless front man. He’s sung about every type of song there is.
Saw mr bungle and had to click immediately!! Cant wait to see what you think about this weird one lol
Everything Mike Patton does is great. You guys need to review some Faith no More and his other projects.
@ourworlds atwar Yes.
They've done The Real Thing.
If 'great' means one would rather have ice picks driven into their eardrums rather than hear whatever that was again, then yes, it was great!
Jizzlobber
Everything? I don't think he deliberately does very different projects and quite some annoying stuff too...on purpose. So Patton being the only common denominator there is not enough me to automatically like it.
Mr Bungle was making music in the early 90s that bands today are getting credit for doing first.
Give "Cardiacs" a listen.
Carry Stress in the Jaw is a masterpiece. The musicianship is incredible.
That's my first song I ever heard by them. Automatically fell in love.
Mike Patton smokes the Korn or Slipknot vocalists. Review "Pink Cigarette" or a song off California or King for a Day, Fool for a Lifetime
Just about anything off of California
King for a day... the best Album of all time for me
Amen.
Yes sir. Kornknot is all just generic ass Bungle rips. Patton is a whole different level.
King for a day is probably incubus' biggest influence
In case you didn't know, Mike Patton is the singer. Also the singer of faith no more. Glad to see you guys do some Mr. Bungle!
The hell did you call them?
Mr. Bungle not Buggle lol
@@Treyworld I never even noticed the misspelling. LOL
Bought the first album......still listening to it. Waaaaaaay ahead of their time😁😁😁😁
Mike PATTON is simply the greatest singer to ever live.
No doubt!
When this album came out in 1991 it was a game changer.
The hole 1991 album is great. Egg, Carousel, Quote Unquote, The Girls of Porn, Squeeze me macaroni... All great material
Haha, I thought this was my comment for a sec. I was so confused.
@@rooster1038 so was i
Goodbye Sober Day is their masterpiece imo.
Jeremy McNeill yes, yes, yes!
Zappa was a big influence, well spotted!
Zappa influenced more than he gets credit for........
Dunn actually admits that he's not the biggest fan of Zappa, but has massive respect for him.
Slipknot literally copied Mr bungle's look
I disagree, Slipknot copied Mushroomhead
Mushroomhead mabey copied Mr bungle
@@sl4pst4k I will double disagree. Slipknot and mushroomhead were contemporaries. They came up around the same time. The masks were basic in both groups at first. Not copying. Bungle only did masks for the first album...with the clown theme.
@@brandondobbins6012 Mushroomhead is very much influenced by Bungle. Mushroomhead was also around before Slipknot and have glaring similarities.
I've thought the exact same thing.
Not only the look, Slipknot demo album "Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat" for example is basically a Mr.Bungle ripoff album.
Keep in mind that this album is almost 30 years old, too. Mike Patton is a vocal legend. If you're not a fan, you haven't heard enough of his work. Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Lovage and he does world class Opera in Italian.
Mike Patton was, is, and always will be on another level. Certified and certifiable absolute modern genius.
Mr. Bungle is genius! All hail Mike Patton!
The Zappa comparison is a very good one. Mike Patton has that kind of same eccentric genius attitude, and through his career has made it a point to push the envelope while remaining elite musically
Interesting fact is that Corey Taylor from Slipknot was recovering from a drug OD and was inspired by Faith No More performing Epic on the VMA's. Mike Patton fronted both bands so I am sure that Corey was inspired by a lot of Patton's work in the late 80's early 90's.
Listen to Stubb (A Dub) by these guys. Mr. Bungle also really inspired avenged sevenfold, they had a band before a7x called pinkly smooth where they dressed up like Mr bungle
Mostly Synyster.
Yeah it was The Rev's and Synysters band from high school. The Rev was the vocalist and keyboard player. It's an overall really refreshingly odd album
That record has some of the Rev's best, and oddest, singing ever imo.
The progression of emotions/feelings in your eyes is absolutely perfect. "What is this", "okay, this is interesting", "damn, this is good", "wait, what is this", " what am I listening to", "damn this is good", "redundant"
I see Mr Bungle, I click.
Definitely need to check out "None of them knew they were Robots" by Mr Bungle
Easily my favorite bungle track. Wild sounds and lyrics that make you feel uneducated, great stuff
Listen to Retrovertigo if y'all want something more serious
Mr. bungle is not serious, that's the point
@@joshuasexo I think you missed the real point because a lot of mr bungle's songs have serious lyrics
@@connermitchell1663 Depends on the record. They were way more goofy (lyrically and even sonically speaking) in the S/T days. California still has it's share of humor, but the lyrics in Retrovertigo or The Air-Conditioned Nightmare are much more serious. I mean- compared to Squeeze Me Macaroni?
I was 10 years old in 1992 listening to this 🥰my childhood was awesome 😎
Super influential band, highly influential to nu-metal unfortunately as well. Mike Patton, their vocalist, was also in Faith No More as well as many other bands, and remains one of the best vocalists alive today. The man simply has the utmost control over his voice, and is capable of all manner of sounds on a dime. I had the fortune of seeing him playing live together with John Zorn in London back in 2013, which was simply wonderful.
Zorn's a genius. And he produced the Bungle album.
I found him via Zorn. Not my favorite, but the best vocalist in music.
Patton is all.
try "Carry Stress In The Jaw" for something totally different & totally genius.the only thing consistent with Bungle is their wild diversity but you will find each album has themes.
As he has previously stated, don't you dare blame nu metal on Mike Patton.
More Mike Patton please!! Faith no More, I hope you can react to any song from Angel Dust album. 🤘
I've seen Bungle 4 times and never disappointed. As complex as their music is they pull it off just as well live. Love Patton!!!!
there is nothing like seeing these guys live. they are every bit as precise live as studio... it is amazing... all of the changes and Mike Patton's vocal range... Zorn producing... this is byfar my favorite album - this and the early EPs - Raging with The Easter Bunny , Bowl of Chiley , Ou818 etc...
Should do Cuckoo For Caca. Mike Pattons vocals on that song are crazy
Optimus Alive 2010 for a better experience
Or “Ugly in the Morning.”
Many of these comments are praising Mike Patton. Where's the love for Trevor Dunn, Trey Spruance, Clinton Bar Mckinnon, and Danny Heitfetz? Oh, and Theo Lengyel I guess. Forgot why they fired him.
Dunn is simply great
Since you all did Mr. Bungle, time to revisit some Faith No More. You all did "The Real Thing" a long time ago.
Ah, you finally got to old Bungle!
Spot on when you mentioned Zappa, Korn, and Slipknot. This was Mike Patton's band before Faith No More, and he did albums with them in between FNM for a while. Definitely avoid their song The Girls Of Porn, and actually my favorite one by them is called Love Is A Fist.
Genius band every song is epic
Jazz and punk had a baby it was Mr Bungls
Never listened to this before.... i love it!!!
Mike Patton is a mad scientist with the best voice.
Haha. Nirvana shirt sees bungle for the first time. Face says it all “wait is this music”. Korn loved that band. They discovered the flat five cord from bungle.
The whole Mr. Bungle debut is an insane collection of seemingly incongruent elements put together by some of the most talented and openminded musicians. To me, it's got a stong John Zorn vibe to it; like a carnival version of Naked City. Brillant stuff.. 🤗
John Zorn produced their first album coincidentally.
More than a decade before Slipknot and Mushroomhead, there was only one creepy masked band. (besides Gwar)… Mr. God Damn Bungle!
Mike Patton the man of a 1000 voices. You need to find a collage of Michael Patton he is probably on of the most talented singers you have ever heard.
Mike patton is a legend and a God to nu metal bands. Bands that he was in also like Faith No More, Mr.bungle welcome to the side of experimental rock/metal!!!! That paved the way for bands like korn, deftones etc. :D
Mr. Bungle is gold! They only made 3 albums and each one is completely different almost sounding like an entirely different band.California is there most accessible album for most people but I still prefer their debut and Disco Volante. Music doesn’t get much better than these guys.
I got to see Mr.Bungle at London Astoria (LA2). I was at the front being crushed against the metal barriers (no padding on them) for the whole show. A week or so of chest pain was totally worth it!
Mike Patton is legit one of the best singers in rock music ever, absolutely amazing
Whoever got them on Mr. Bungle is a legend.
Do any Faith No More song!!
Stripsearch!!!
"We Care A Lot; & then something else off "The Real Thing" - good to compare the original vocalist then Patton. Before Pattons vocals dropped some after he got his god complex and many turned on him. Would be a good review.
Jizzlobber
@@hmpz36911 The one song they did by FNM was The Real Thing :)
@@Brombit then something else off... was supposed to precede it as did in other suggestions. Dont know why it dropped as did in another i had to edit. Shall try again, hope it takes. Apologies & thanks for the point out
Check out more Mr. Bungle! This album was actually (mostly) re-recorded material from their old demos from the 80's, after vocalist Mike Patton found commercial success with Faith No More. Also, if you want to go a bit more weird, check out Patton's other "super group", Fantomas.
Zappa... NAILED IT!
Melvins - A History of Bad Men
It's nice seeing these old videos of Mr Bungle back when they were normal. They were so ahead of the times.
What genre is this?
Yes.
You should make "KuuΔelta - Dissolve (Music Video)" reaction. that is mystical and progressive alternative metal band from Finland and I can't wait what kind of reaction you will get (it will be different than your other reaction videos) :D
My best mate once described Mr. Bungle-who I first heard while on LSD…Imagine THAT…as ‘A weird montage of circus music, lounge jazz, surf music, and death metal.’ Yet somehow it WORKS, and what’s more, it’s AWESOME.
I was so happy I discovered them when I did, because it was literally 2 months before I was able to catch them live on the tour supporting their 1999 album, *California*. That was the last tour upon which they played their best-known songs. I definitely took two tabs of acid before that show. I danced my ass off. I was hysterical, and I had so much fun. I never grinned so widely for so long in my life. My mates said I thought I’d lost it permanently. They’re amazing.
...also Mr. Bungle is a reference to a "character" in 1980's Pee-wee's Playhouse that always "bungles" things....which I believe was originally from some 1960's TV recording.
Mr Bungle - Stubb a dub is
My favorite all time song! Pleeeease
Speaking of stage diving, you should really check out March of the SOD/Sgt. D and the SOD live video.
BEST STAGE DIVE EVER
I feel like this is coming from a totally uneducated musical place but Mr Bungle seem to have made an art of keeping you in a state of being uncomfortable. When you listen to music you expect everything to resolve, the down beat meets the upbeat ect. You are so used to how it works that you brain expects it, wants it - but every bungle song, does everything the opposite, you expect en ending, it keeps going, you expect a transition, it stays, you expect the beat to remain til the 4th, it changes on the third.. I love it so much! it doesn't allow you to relax and be comfortable, it challenges you every bar, every beat. - none of them knew they were robots is the perfect example
I love that you guys arent afraid to explore themes that range from Mr bungle to cradle of filth it's just awesome
Korn actually credit Mr bungle as one of their influences, especially with the chords they use called the 'bungle chord'
Mr.bungle and Faith no more early stuff from chuck mosely but angel dust probably also had little influence on them also songs like malpractice and jizzlobber definitely, lyrics from be aggressive "I swallow!!!" From faith no more literally got made into a song from korn. Korn made a song called swallow and he repeats the same lyrics I swallow!!! Many times.. basically mike Patton bands and early FNM.
I can listen to Mr bungle all day , every day
Dude, Mr. Bungle inspired entire genres. You should check out the bands Dog Fashion Disco, Tub Ring, Nuclear Rabbit and Polkadot Cadaver.
Mr. Bungle is one of the best band of all time.
Mike Patton is the greatest singer in extreme style.
Try some more songs, how about "Ma Meeshka Mow Skvoz" or "Desert search for the techno Allah"?
Mike Patton is legit one of the best voices on the planet! This is a good rabbit hole to go down.
I suggest "Mojo" by Peeping Tom, another Patton project. There is a live version on the Henry Rollins show that's worth checking out.
Mr Bungle is named after a character on a kids show who did not have any friends because he had bad manners. I think it was from the Pee-Wee Herman Show. It's definitely Mike Pattons artistic and experimental side of music. He uses his voice more like an instrument often using two or three different microphones/megaphones. Faith No More is a little more "radio friendly" but still has a lot of Mike Patton built in. A few years ago Faith No More did a recording at the BBC. It's worth checking out. ua-cam.com/video/q4khu6cx1A4/v-deo.html
One of the greatest bands that have existed, with three albums showed so many paths that popular music can follow, simply unmatched.
One of my favorites bands of all time.
Slipknot? Hahahahahaha
Mike Patton nice put some fantomas
I've been watching you for a long time, and this is the first video I really liked!! Great Job!
Mr. Bungle...one of the oddest, most entertaining and BEST concerts I've ever been to.
Oh yeah! The sweet, sultry sounds of Mr Bungle
Watching th is video made me so happy! Loved the fact you just gawped at it without interrupting and that you're facilitating the discovery of pioneering music.
To go off and things by cardiacs is most likely what inspired these lads... Check that out! It's great tracing who inspired who you can paint a tree of inspiration from the top down and find the seeds that started so much chaos!
Love from 🇬🇧
I’m so glad you liked it. This album was a game changer for me.
Awesome you did this! I had this album back in the day and listened to it all the time, all the songs are good. What I enjoyed about it was that it's unique, unpredictable, and not boring. They're all over the place but make it work, for me at least.
Mike Patton is the mastermind behind this... you should know his most known band FAITH NO MORE ... he also plays in other great bands like TOMAHAWK, PEEPING TOM, and FANTOMAS ! Amazing musicians!!!
U should give a try to "Quote unquote" by Mr.Bungle
Incubus cited Mr Bungle as a huge influence, and musically you can hear it in the first few recordings. Mr Bungle are weirder than all of them and are more uncomfortable art than a specific genre
Finally, Mr. Bungle!
GG ALLIN live video review please
I don't know if their ready for GG yet. 😂😂
@@randywissler9923 No one is ever ready for GG, you just gotta spread your ass and go in.
skaface32 no. He’s garbage
@@BlasphemousVerses I would say almost literally to that comment! 😂😂
@@dirkdiggler6316 That's kinda the point of GG, and a compliment
Just type MIKE PATTON vocal range into UA-cam search. The dude can sing anything.
This whole album AND California are both really good. The music is played by actual talented musicians. Faith No More, Mr B, Peeping Tom, Tomahawk...These all need to be taken in and digested a little bit at a time if you're not familiar with Mike Patton. I suggest reviewing more FNM, then moving onto Mr B's California, even though it was released much later than their self-titled album. Just my opinion. They're both weird - But GREAT!
Can’t believe we finally hit bungle territory 😍 gotta do “ air conditioned nightmare”
Dillinger Escape Plan before Dillinger Escape Plan existed
Nice Mr Bungle is da Shiz not. Master Patton
ooooh... a new rabbit hole... now go check out the inspiration for this song, the David Lynch film Blue Velvet.
Come on with that body count you will love them
I'm with you. Black hoodie rocks.
Trash
So is youre opinion
Prozac , zactly what I was thinking get down with some body count
Patton is 50 something years old now and guess what this band is back
You see the Influence OF Korn? Korn was still in elementary school when these guys were playing gigs. Korn wasn't even a group until 3 years after this song was recorded, and who knows how long after it was first written and played live.
Also, the only "Official Video" for a Mr Bungle song on the WB label is for "Travolta/Quote Unquote". Most of Mr Bungle's videos are fan-made, including this one.
I love the perplexed look on both of your faces through most of this reaction 😀
Zappa, you got it, and listen to John Zorn
So many Mr. Bungle/Mike Patton reactions these days, and I am NOT mad :)
The saxophone makes the song. It's like the Spanish Inquisition...
Clearly this is a song about love. That love being a fist!!
When you reacted to Faith No More’s The Real Thing, that is the same singer as Mr. Bungle. As a matter of fact FNM discovered him by hearing their demo.
Ah! Mr. Bungle will never get enough credit for their influence, true visionaries for their time and still today, it takes a little extra work to understand bands like this or Meshuggah, top shelf, keep up the good work guys
You have no idea how strange the world is, unless you've attended a Mr. Bungle concert. Nothing can prepare you.
What a strange moment of synchronicity. I watch you guys all the time. Today I just out of the blue decided to listen to this song for the first time in over twenty years. I actually thought what would Vin and Sori think of this. And right after I finished watching and thought that, this review popped up in my feed. Psychic link? Strange... Mike Patton is a crazy genius. You should check out more Bungle and Faith No More
If you want some serious (kinda) Mr. Bungle try something from
their album “California”
Their most poppy easy to digest. But better vocals lol
